  1. Reposted with pics on Imgur: https://imgur.com/gallery/rH19myY I need help flashing this corrupt Bios chip on my Og Xbox. Unfortunately this is the only way i can reflash it, as i attempted to flash it but forgot to bridge the points now my Og Xbox only works with a modchip. I got around to picking up a programmer TL866II Plus with Xgpro v11.90 Flasher tool. But i keep getting a pin detect error. I first tried it with a new exact replacement chip using a TSOP 40 adaptor. Then ended up losing that chip. And desoldered the one from the motherboard. I also removed the cold solder from the adaptors and added some fresh new high quality solder with flux to make sure that isn’t the problem. I socketed it into the slot and no luck “Pin detect error”. I then ordered another adaptor this time without a socket and i soldered on the bios chip. I also redid the solder joints, as the ones on that adaptor were dull aswell, and no luck. I picked up the correct or the closest settings on the Xgpro v11.90 software. I tried TSOP 40 Hyundai and Hynix HY29F080 with no luck. It yet again gives me a “Pin detect error”. I even tried auto detect and it says chip not supported. On the chip it says Hyundai HY29F080T-90, but i can’t find that exact model number on the menu. Could that be the issue or is it something else. I have no idea as this is my first time using a programmer. And saw a video or two on how to use it.
  2. I was given an xbox without a hard drive, when I turn it on, this screen appears. I'll buy hard drive. What else do I need to do to get it working again?
  3. Scored a 1.0 on eBay for repair. The current HDD doesn't spin at all and needs to be replaced and that's the only problem. But I found this WEIRD SST carriage(is what I'm calling it. It's just hooked up straight to the lpc) and I've never seen it before. Have you guys? It's solderless and it works, it has the X2 bios on it. I don't know if I should try to flash it with the OGXbox installer disk or just do an XBlast lite install since it DOES have the 1meg TSOP and would be able to take advantage of the TSOP management features. Any thoughts?
  4. I think this is just a "replace the power supply" issue (DPSN-96DP), but I'd appreciate anyone's insight if they have advice: (Video of issue) https://imgur.com/INZWEUK Summary -- push power, no LED ring lights, X3 mod chip front indicator panel briefly lights up, then turns off. Eject button has same result. Case fan briefly twitches when power/eject is pressed. Continuously holding the power button 'on' keeps the lights on the X3 front panel lit, and the hard drive can be heard spinning up, but then nothing appears and it powers back off after release. Removed the motherboard, examined the traces to see if there was any rot -- looks really, really clean, nothing was visible after several minutes of inspecting. (Shot of a section of board) https://imgur.com/HIuVLGm CPU capacitors look a little sussy and puffed, I should replace, but nothing leaking onto the board. Clock capacitor looks good, too, but I think I should replace that as well. (CPU caps) https://imgur.com/NR7H58m (Clock cap) https://imgur.com/pFDgFPA Probably will get capacitors from Console5, I have enjoyed ordering from them before. Should I just replace the power supply? Is that what this issue looks like? https://imgur.com/FVbfgB6 (Delta power supply) Thanks anyone that feels like replying! This is my daily driver, I'd like to have it back!
  5. No output at all when connected via component, super dark red with scart.
  6. Hey guys, my softmodded 1.6 box with a SATA adapter in it is taking a while to boot up and I'm wondering if the drive is on its way out. I'd like to be able to clone the drive to a SATA SSD I have lying around but every drive cloning tutorial I see out there involves hotswapping an IDE drive. How would I accomplish this?
  7. Why does NFS freeze on this xbox and not from the one i ftp over .. what does it need tot boot up?
  8. Moderator Edit: Hey all. Currently having issues with my xbox. Have opened it 3 times now to re-examine it, and I have NO idea what I need to do to get it to turn on again. Here's a video I made showing the mobo, and explaining everything I've done and checked. Please let me know what you think, I'd love to do whatever I can to avoid needing to buy another box. Literally any help at all is greatly appreciated, please let me know. I read around some more and I've read it Might be a blown transistor, (As this seems to be a common problem with 1.6 mobos, which I believe mine is, last time I checked. Was a couple years ago, tho I'm pretty confident it's a 1.6.) or that I might need to solder new capacitors, or new cable, etc. Man, I'm just wondering if these might just be too old to buy anymore. Seems like nowadays they just break out of nowhere, and no matter how many I buy and replace, they just break down anyways Any way to prevent that from happening? Is there any kind of scene out there to completely overhaul these things to make them actually last longer than a few years? Please let me know what I should do, and Thanks in advanced! 9. Hi all, I've lurked here for a while now. This is a great forum to get info from. Thank you. Question - I've been working on XBoxes for a while now, and I just got my hands on a 1.0 with a dead Thompson drive and an even deader original Seagate hard drive (showing error 7). Upon opening the case, I realized it had an old modchip on the underside of the board: https://imgur.com/ZGJwShp Does anyone know what modchip this is? I'm mostly curious what that chip is. It's a very clean install and I've never seen one like it. If I tweak the laser pot and get the DVD drive working, will this modchip be able to boot Hexen? I have an Aladdin XT chip and a new laser coming in the mail, but they're a month away. I'm wondering if I can get the drive running just long enough to boot Hexen and install a new hard drive, maybe TSOP the box and then remove this older modchip. Thank you in advance!
  10. Hi I just stepped into this does anyone have some info about this Controller?
  11. Hello Together, I bought an xbox today and planned to do a softmod. When opening the console to remove the clock capacitor, I noticed that a modchip is already installed. Unfortunately, I can't find any information about this chip. Can you help me further? Can I just ignore the chip or should I pay attention to something? Is it possible to simply install a SoftMod ! Thank you for your help !
  12. Hi everyone. Recently I've been watching some ModernVintageGamer videos on YouTube and really wanted to get out of the drawer my old modchipped Xbox. It wasn t booting anymore because of a dvd reader failure(error 11 and 12) so I got a used xbox for spare parts off eBay,got the dvd player out of it and put it in my Xbox. The Xbox boots but it won't read even original disks. My question is how do I understand what modchip is installed? Can I run any sort of homebrew via USB and upgrade my HDD ? Thanks in advance.
  13. Hi, I just got a Xbox for 10€ (my second one ). It is modded and has this chip. Does anyone know what it is? Is it good, bad? Thanks!
  14. Hi! I am new here, so i am not sure if this is the right section to post this in. I am wondering if anyone has a clue which mod this is: Thank you for your time!
  15. Hello everyone, I opened up an original Xbox v1.6 i acquired to check the state of the capacitors and noticed it was hard modded with a chip. I have always done soft mods and I am a noob when it comes to the hard mod world. I did some research with my friend google and worked out that it is an Aladdin 4032 (I think) just not sure what version as the only ones i could find had a red PCB. Just wondering if anyone has any details and is it worth reflashing the Bios or just putting in a newer version. Thanks in advance
  16. Hi everyone. What Xecuter MOD Chip is this? I tried browsing the stickies but couldn't find a matching picture. The only thing I remember is that this was solderless. Also, is there a diagram somewhere that I can solder it into the XBOX instead? Thanks in advance.
  17. Does anyone know what console this is i've looked on the web but can't get a straight answer from what i've seen. I have been able to upgrade the hard drive and BIOS though
  18. Someone is selling an Xbox with the mod in the photo for $20, looks like an LPT port. Anybody know what it's all about before I dive in?
  19. Has anyone tried this? http://www.easybuy2000.com/store/xbox/solderless_1_6_adapter.shtml
