  1. So last year, I bought a soft modded xbox and while installing my games I had a major crash and that caused black screen that I couldnt fix. I opted to install a mod chip. While installing the modd chip I accidently ripped up a motherboard trace and ruined the mother board. (word to the wise get a good soddering iron one not from lowes...) Anyways I have a few questions. Are modded HDDs only usable on the console they were modded on? Is there a way I can format the Hard drive and use if for something else, Do I need the xbox it was used in to do this with or can I use any modded xbox to unlock it? If I don't wipe the Hard drive can I put it into another modded xbox? (I put 1tb of games on that of the the couse of days and dont want that to go to waste.) Lastly is there someone that does xbox mods thats trust worthy? I aint trying to ruin a 3rd motherboard.
  2. I have an OG Xbox that no longer works, I've tried a different power supply and replaced some capacitors that were bad no luck, my friend gave me a working Xbox same model. Is it possible to swap the drive from my dead one to the "new" one and retain all the data? Also if I can't do that would it be possible to transfer the save data and games to the new system?
  3. Can I swap a cable from an official S controller and a Duke. I can solder so was thinking I could open my Duke as the lead is snagged - still working perfectly. I was planning on cutting the wire just inside both controllers and then soldering the non frayed wires from the 'S' to the Duke. Has anyone tried this? Should I just leave well enough alone? Thanks
  4. I am in the process of modding my multiple xbox consoles so that they all have the same files and also hdd keys so that I can mix and match the hard drives across all systems. Hdd keys seem simple enough but I have a few questions about the config sector of the hdd. The config sector is I think the first sector of the hdd and stores certain configuration settings. These settings are unable to be changed as far as I am aware. https://xboxdevwiki.net/Config_Sector. I will be using configmagic to match the different settings accros the many eeproms and ftping over my gamesaves. I have a concern that if I swap over a hdd that these settings in the config sector may come into conflict with the new xbox it is placed in. Most of those settings are not a worry. Host name is something I am not so sure about, I can't find any info relating to the original xbox hostname or how to change it. I would hate to switch a hard drive and because host name on said hdd doesn't match with rest of the system something bad happens. I would like some help with this issue of mine, regarding hostname and if there is anything else in the config sector I should be concerned about with what I am trying to do. (Mix and match hard drives accross multiple consoles, I won't be cloning or full eeprom flashing).
  5. I own quite a few original xbox consoles and I am currently in the process of having them all modded. I want them to all have the same save files and be able to switch each hard drive to another console if needed. Using configmagic, I have a little problem with the unique hdd keys and current hdd unlock password. I can change the unique hdd keys so all my xboxs match but I can not change the current hdd unlock password (I hear its generated by a combination of things). I want to be able to mix and match hard drives. How do I get around this so that all the keys match on all my consoles? I know there is a program to null the keys but some of my gamesaves I believe are signed by the unique hard drive key so I would like the unique hdd to remain the same. Hopefully there is something I'm missing.
  6. I appreciated everyone helping in the other thread to be me where I am on my old Xbox! I have a question regarding swapping drives. Here is what I have: XBOX A Old xbox originally soft modded in the early 2000's. Has a 200 GB drive in it with all my games. I have re-softmodded it to the Rocky Softmod. I did not Null the hard drive when i did the Rocly soft mod (I may have done it when i originally modded this thing 15+ years ago). Xbox B Xbox I just bought. Has the factory hard drive in it. I have used the Rocky soft mod on this box and have nulled the hard drive. Can I swap the hard drive from Xbox A into Xbox B by just disconnecting and plugging it in? I want to do this because Xbox A has corrosion issues and just randomly turns off. Should I null the hard drive in Xbox A before doing this? Any help would be appreciated!
  7. my question is can you boot a softmodded xbox with the locked drive then run a hexen disc to build another drive
