  1. on one of my hard modded xbox's, i have a 3tb sata3 seagate drive. it has almost every xbox game ever made and some extra stuff too. i have the dashboard set for xbmc4gamers and fast parsing but it loads so slow. i have found that to be the fastest dashboard though. on my softmodded xbox, i upgraded the drive to a 300gb ide seagate drive and the same ide cable. i only have mostly the games that are available with insignia right now plus a few others and it loads to the unleashX dashboard. it loads SOO much faster, even with that old slow ide hdd in it, that i am tempted to use it instead of my hard modded system with all the extra's on it. is there anyway to speed up my hard modded xbox without deleting a bunch of games? i have another hardmodded xbox with a 2tb wd black 7200rpm drive and it only loads 4 seconds quicker(i timed it several time) so a faster harddrive wouldn't help much.
  2. I flashed what I KNOW is an overclocked bios at 777mhz. Xbmc is reporting a stock speed. I've heard of this happening. How can i be sure that my overclock is working?
  3. edit: unfortunately it looks like DSL might set the UDMA mode to 33. Cerbios UDMA66 also scores like 33. I have been curious about whether the older BIOSs are running UMDA33 or UMDA66. UnleashX says M8+ runs UDMA4 for example. So I thought I would load up X-DSL and run hdparm tests with M8+ flashed. With "hdparm -tT /dev/hda" I see cached reads of 440MB/s (that's RAM speed) and buffered disk reads of 28.67 MB/s. That's UDMA33. Also, hdparm -I /dev/hda reports UDMA2 which is 33.
  4. Hey guys. It is 2023 and still running this wonderful box for my arcade cab. I recently figured that my idle CPU temperature is at about 59 C. I thought this maybe a bit high to have a long life. Maybe this type of processor can handle it but I would want to check for cooling possibilities. At first I've installed a 80mm Noctua. And it shows 59 C°. in the dash. GPU is about 10 C° lower. I wanted to override fan speed in the dash... but those settings don't effect the speed. At least I can't hear anything happening. Then I wanted to check for the ind-bios.cfg to raise the idle speed. And here comes the next thing... I don't have it? I couldn't find it. I am running a 1512 mhz mod with basic xmbc dash/ ind.bios pre setup by N64 Freak. Is the *.cfg file hidden somewhere or injected somehow? Can I just copy one to C:\? Any chance for me to raise fan speed permanently? Or is it fixed due to power supply and always runs at max? How you guys handle temperature on those mods? And why there is no effect when using the override option in the dash an pumping from 10% to 100%? Happy to hear your voices and hints to keep this baby alive for years to come. All best, Dan
  5. Hi, I recently updated my Xbox with the Noctua NF-A6X25 FLX fan. The fan works fine, I set it to automatic on XBMC4Gamers settings. But as soon as I start a game from the HDD, I feel the rotation speed drop and it never increases during the game session. Only when I get back from the dash does it start to increase the revs until it reaches the desired temperature. What can I do? I don't think it's normal.
  6. Hello, In your XBOX menu: Parameter/System/Storage Devices Selecting your USB hard drive is selecting "set as capture location". A "GameDVR" folder has been created to move your "iso" into this folder, the loads will be faster. ps: I live in France, the menus will be different in other countries. Best regards
  7. I am disappointed with the fan mods for the Original Xbox. I tried a 60mm Noctua Fan and then an 80MM Noctua, but no matter what i do. I cannot increase the speed of the fan. The fan just stays at the same speed settings even during gameplay. And was wondering if i can increase the speed of the Noctua since they are better, quieter fans capable of pushing out more air. I tried increasing the speed through the settings and through the config settings. But it still doesn’t make a difference. My Xbox has an Open Xenium modchip with Unleash X. Did i miss something? Do i need a special adapter?
  8. Hello! My setup I have been running XBMC-Emustation dash on my V1.6 Xbox with a WD2500JB IDE drive ... the system was soft modded using Xbox-Softmodding-Tool. Both tools created by @Rocky5 https://github.com/Rocky5/ I want to update my storage and have both a 2TB WD20EARS and a 3TB WD30EFRX. I purchased the following ribbon and PATA>SATA off Amazon: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EOJNGC2 https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B073CKHX7X (I bought two of each; I upgraded my brother's OG Xbox as well using a 1TB WD Blue drive... don't have the exact model in front of me ... but the ribbon and PATA>SATA worked amazing.) The Issue After loading the initial Xbox green splash screen, I am not booted into the Dashboard. Instead, the screen goes black and it just hangs. I've found I can open/close the DVD tray and THEN it will boot the dashboard. I've also noticed the speed is slower in both the initial splash screen and the loading of the dashboard itself (after I manually open/close the DVD tray to get the dashboard to load). Again, tested with both the 2TB and 3TB drives Things I've Tried Re-softmodding the system Both 2TB and 3TB drives Different default Dashboard (UnleashX) Additional StarTech adaptor Additional 80 pin IDE cable ... Anyone's input would be appreciated!
  9. I bought a couple used IDE Seagate 160GB ST3160215ACE drives for cloning and backup. I'm a bit disappointed though because despite them being the same model, one of them vibrates significantly more than the stock drive while the other vibrates like normal but has a longer boot to dashboard time. I tried swapping the IO chip that screws to the bottom of the drive with no difference. I also tried re-cloning with Chimp and it resulted the same way. With that second, slower boot drive, the first time I tried to clone with Chimp it showed something like "IO error" a few times and so I had to restart the Xbox and reseat everything and then Chimp went ahead and cloned with no errors. I wonder if maybe there are bad sectors that are slowing it down maybe? You'd think it might be something like the drive being set to 5400 RPM mode in its firmware (if that's even possible), but then why would it take longer to boot than the stock WD 8GB 5400 RPM drive? So I'm not sure if I should be fine or if there's anything I can do to solve this or maybe just get another new drive? I don't like the extra vibration on the first drive but I also want a fast bootup, because the second drive adds like 10 seconds.
  10. Hello, I'm looking for some advice around improving my FTP speeds. I'm using WinSCP and both my Xbox and PC are connected to my router via Ethernet cables. I'm using XBMC4Gamers as my main dash but am loading into UnleashedX for FTP since I've read it should be faster. From what I've seen speeds approaching 10MB/s (even slightly above) should be common... Still, when transferring to the console I'm currently lucky to get speeds of over 1MB/s - they're usually much lower and often only around 250KB/s. For some reason transferring from the Xbox to my PC gives much faster speeds at around 5MB/s. I've tried playing around with the max connections in UnleashedX, I had it set to 10 and have since set it to 2 and haven't seen any real improvement.
  11. Hi dear. As primary dash I use UnleashX, but for some games I enjoy some trainer use so I set up EvolutionX and I launch it when I need to apply a trainer (Xored Launcher 2.2 just crashes on splash screen with lots of trainer files in folder). However EvolutionX is extremely slooooow to scroll up and down. Is there something I'm missing, like a parameter to set or a .ini variable, to scroll the list faster? Thank you, have a nice day Sceriffo
  12. Well, this question goes to those of you who have done this before. I recently got a TSOP'ed v1.2 xbox with ind bios 5004, 128 mb ram, 1ghz and 160 gb hdd. I also have a chipped v1.6 xbox with 2TB hdd (segate barracuda 7200 rpm) - and i made a clone of this 2TB to put into my TSOP box. I checked that the 2TB cloned hdd (seagate barracuda 5400 rpm) worked fine in my chipped xbox. And it did. Then i took the TSOP xbox, installed a 80 ribbon cable with a startech ide2sat2 adapter (jumper pins to master) and connected my new cloned hdd. [EDIT:] I start it and it a black screen with the letters "ind bios" appear.. i hear the hdd spin up twice... and nothing happens.. then i press eject button twice and the white ind bios splash screen appears, from here it takes some 10-20 seconds until dashboard appears. [/EDIT] On my chipped xbox it takes 10 seconds. What can i do to speed up the boot process ? RUn EVtools on indbios ?
