  1. Is this even something you can do? Or would I waste my time trying? I have two xboxes waiting to softmod>tsop, the disc drives in both are fugged so I can't use my mechassault disc. I'm wondering if the softmod can be performed from a digital copy of the game on the hard drive + hard drive copy of the exploit game save, all while running on a modchip.
  2. I softmodded and then tsopped my original xbox. Before doing this I made a custom component cable which worked great with all my games and the stock dashboard. In one of the menu's during the softmod process the screen went crazy (kind of looks like a sink issue, the screen is squashed and scrolling across rapidly, impossible to tell what is on screen). I plugged in the composite cable and finished up the process and then TSOP'ed it. Now when I boot with the component cable the bios flubber animation works perfectly but the screen goes nuts when I get to unleasheX despite changing the video settings to NTSC-M, no to 480p-720p-1080i- enable pal, no to faster refresh rate. what could be causing this? EDIT: SOLUTION FOUND because the xbox restarts when video cable is reconnected I had to write down the button presses required to get to ms dashboard while using composite, then swith to component, follow the button presses, stock dashboard worked, go into settings and disable all high resolutions, and then restart. everythings fine now and I hope this helps others with the same issue
  3. Hi there, my Xbox is already softmodded with Rocky5s Softmod. On this machine I used the older softmodding-method via an old PC with P-ATA connectors (hot swapping etc). I already upgraded the outdated softmod with Rocky5s Extras Disc. But I will get another Xbox to softmod and for that reason I want to test a just bought Splinter Cell Game Disc on my ALREADY softmodded machine. Is that safe? I planned to just get to the point where I load the "Linux" savegame in Splinter Cell (after that the Xbox's light turns red and you usually get to the XBOX softmodding screen, where it says "Press A Button") At that point I'd say the game disc works and I'd simply turn of my console. Thank you.
  4. Hello there! I bought myself a soft modded original Xbox and also found out you could make it look like the 360 blades with XBMC and MC360, now I also know I want to use XLink Kai and when Insignia launches for the console, I wanted to do that as well but I also know MC360 probably won’t work for that since it’s not been updated in years from what I’ve read on forums. I guess to shorten all of this up, am I overwriting my Rocky5 softmod with XBMC or MC360? Or would I be able to just switch back and forth between all the dashboards I want? Any help is greatly appreciated! (:

Hi, I only have a working console and controller. Which is the best option for hacking. I saw in several places that it can with an original game and an adapter for usb drive, but if I don't have any other options? I have old computers with an IDE connector if needed. I've hacked a lot of consoles, XBOX360, their DVDs drive (with drilling), PS1-4 and I have an idea of how things are.
  8. Hello guys, This is my first post on this great forum, lots of info and input is amazing! The reason of this probably repeated post is that I want to upgrade my HDD to a 1TB or 2TB HDD (what's the max capacity I can go with my motherboard?), I watched lots of tutorials and seems the way to go is using OGXBox (downloaded and burned version 1.5.3 to a DVD, also have TruHeXEn 2021 on another DVD disc if needed) my questions are mostly regarding how to proceed now, I got this console from a very good friend some 15 years ago, and it was modded as it alwas played back up DVD's, I opened the console to look if there was any physical chip or mod to the board but couldn't find any or I'm too dumb to detect it, seems like it is only soft modded? Current BIOS and Dash versions are attached in pics along with more pics of the motherboard so I don't know if you guys can see any mods performed to it. I already purchased the SATA to IDE adapter and performed the 80 way/40 pin IDE cable conversion and everything seems to be working after that I was able to play my backup DVDs and play from the original HDD as well, so basically which route do I follow now? because I don't want to perform something that might brick the console by interfering with the already installed mod, also is there any specific model of 3.5" SATA HDD I need to choose?, I know there's like a list of working/locked HDD so do I need to consider that when purchasing my new HDD? I was plannig to get a WD blue or Seagate Barracuda. Thank you very much for all your help guys!
  9. Hello there everyone! I posted a little bit around but then I considered the many peculiarities of my situation and decided that it was better to open a new topic. I am going a little bit out of my mind trying to softmod an Xbox 1.00 fw 4034 NTSC-J. I am aiming to play some titles in english and therefore softmod is a must. I am not totally inept with soldering iron but if I wold like not messing around with the motherboard. I checked my options and it seemed that Hotswap was the best alternative. I found a couple of posts on reddit (here from Rocky5 and here). The second post is interesting because essentially presents my same case and the OP resolved with a previous copy of XboxHDM 2.3 Beta 2 and ndure 3.0 but then in the comments another poster said you can just use the XBHDM utility of Rocky5softmod. This was a long route. I thought to start from the easiest way to edit files in the HDD through hotswap: Xplorer360. I planned to use Xplorer360 with the error 12 unplugging the dvd drive but it gave instead the error 11. The error 11 was just the start, I tried other ways to unlock the drive but it still does not show up in Xplorer360 (despite it showed up in DISKUTIL many times). Used other hotswap strategy. In-game technique seemed the one that produced the best effects since it came up in the DISKUTIL but still never on Xplorer360. I dropped Xplorer360. I upgraded to XboxHDM 2.3 Beta 4 I planned to do with the Rocky5 Build 1.1.8v/Installer Variants/XBHDM. I was able to connect it to the PC via ide-usb cable, check in DISKUTIL and check with XboxHDM 2.3 Beta 4 that the hd is "ATA secutity is: enabled, pw Level Max, not locked, not frozen [sec5]." I would like to make a backup and I want to move the rocky5 files now. I moved the XBHDM build from the "installer variants" folder in Build 1.1.8. load the XBHDM for the drive. When I load the xbrowser in XboxHDM and press f2 for menu it gives me a "Cannot open file /usr/local/share/mc/mc.menu". f4 (edit) blanks the page with "C" [Read only] line 1 of 1 --100%-- which factually makes the XBHDM crash (no way to go back). IN A NUTSHELL: from here I am lost... what should I do? I run everything as administrator but no luck. Should I first unlock the drive and disable ? no Disable? i am really confused... I dont have the eeprom reader so i cannot extract it in that way. I order solder ink pen but it will take time but worst scenario I think I might TSOP, but does that too need a softmod first? Anyway I think that I must be close... any suggestions on how to proceed ? Sorry for the long post and thank you for reading!
  10. I think this belongs here? Since I'm just trying to install XBMC4Gamers. But like the title says, Xbox Softmodding Tool Extras Disc will not boot when I try to boot it from the "Applications" section. I've followed the instructions on how to set up the files correctly, but when I click on XSTED, the screen goes black for a few seconds then it goes right back to the UnleashX dashboard. I thought maybe it's mounting it to the disk drive virtually? But even my disk drive won't boot a disk when there's a disk in it using the "Run CD in drive" button, no matter what's in the drive. I'm kinda at a loss, so I'm coming here for some help. Attached is how I have it setup on the drive. 1.4 that's been TSOP'd, if it matters
  11. I apologize if this topic is already been talked about but anyways I was downloading some dashboard files during a softmod dashboard uninstall then the powers got cut and now it's throwing up a error 13 or 14. I've heard Hexen can be used to fix this but I'm not sure. Thanks.
  12. Hey all! I couldn't find much information online about this so I wanted to post it here so that others would be able to learn from my experience. TLDR; If you don't have any compatible flash drives but you have a PSP1000, you can use it to softmod your Xbox! I recently softmodded my first few Xbox's and I was having the hardest time getting the save files to show up. I followed all the proper procedures and tried 5 different <4GB flash drives without luck. The USBs I used were being recognized as memory sticks in the Xbox, but they would all show 5000+ blocks and no data. After lots of research and troubleshooting I found some scattered information that you could use a PSP to do it, and it works! Here's how I set it up: Requirements: a.) Original PSP1000 (This may not work with the later versions e.g. the "slim" PSP2000/3000 or PSP Go) b.) 32MB Memory Stick PRO Duo; the original SD card that came with your PSP (Some larger ones may work like the 1GB/4GB but I have not tested these) c.) USB-Mini cable (to plug into your PSP) d.) Xbox-to-USB adapter (to plug your PSP into your Xbox) e.) Softmod save files (e.g. from Rocky5's Xbox Softmodding Tool.zip) f.) Xplorer360 (to copy the saves from your PC to your PSP) g.) msvcr71.dll (sometimes required to launch Xplorer360; store it in Xplorer360's working directory) Steps: 1.) Insert your Memory Stick PRO Duo into your PSP (if it warns you that the memory stick cannot be read, ignore this) 2.) Navigate your PSP to [Settings] > [USB Connection] and press X (this puts your PSP in "memory card" mode and acts like a USB flash drive) 2.) Plug your USB-Mini cable into both your PSP and the Xbox-to-USB adapter 4.) Plug the Xbox to USB adapter into your Xbox and allow the Xbox to format it (you can unplug/replug to ensure it is consistently recognized) 5.) Unplug the USB-Mini cable from the Xbox-to-USB adapter and plug it into your PC 6.) Ignore any prompts to Format the drive 7.) Launch Xplorer360 as admin and copy the save files over per-usual 8.) Safely eject 9.) ??? 11.) Profit Hope this helps some folks! I imagine that not many people will use this method, but if it's popular I wouldn't mind expanding the instructions to include detailed Xplorer360 steps etc. For now though, I figured people would have sourced those details already since they're method-agnostic. OG PSPs FTW!
  13. In the Build v1.1.8\Extras Disc\Documents folder their is a txt file that says: You can run the "Xbox Softmodding Tool Extras Disc.iso" from the Xbox HDD. What happens if I run the virtual image and wish to restore xbox to factory using that image. Will it corrupt the drive as the image is being read off the same drive? Or being a virtual image it is stored in a temporary location and once the xbox is restored it is deleted and won't interfere when restoring.
  14. It has been a long time since I softmodded my ogxbox halo special edition. Used to softmod for friends and possibly 20 xboxes passed by my house for softmodding. Looking for what's new in softmodding because I want to finally put a bigger hard drive.
  15. Hey everyone, I got a lot of xbox's recently and I fixed them all and softmodded all of them except one. The last one when using rocky5s method boots the game, let's me choose the save to start the softmod but then goes to the xbox dashboard and says it cant recognize the disc. At first I thought maybe the DVD drive was bad so I swapped it with another, ended up trying 4 others, all did the same thing. Any advice I'd really like to get this softmodded
  16. Just a simple dark theme take on Rocky5's XST theme, since it was my favorite theme aside from the fact that it burned my retinas at night. Obviously huge props to R5 since this is his theme, just with dark colors and tweaked panels to suit my console (you may have to go in and change them if they're not working/to your liking, obviously). Rocky5 XST but wait, now dark
  17. To be honest I'm just not sure If I should swap my softmoded MB to the halo edition or softmod them both. I honestly want to sell the MB but I donk know how to show its a Halo Edition on the /MB. ANY ideas ?
