  1. I'm trying to run doom with it and it's really really slow and doom is skipping really badly.
  2. I'm messing around with my own Xbox OG and have a modchip with Cerbios in it. I also changed the default hard drive with a SATA 160GB version and an IDE2SATA adapter with 80 wires 40 pins IDE cable. The boot is slow and yes I know the cheap IDE2SATA adapters can be annoying. But I used the exact same adapter in other Xboxes and they work fine. So, I did some testing. With the DVD drive attached (in the cerbios.ini it is defined as DriveSetup = 1 (which is HDD & No DVD (Legacy Mode)) the boot time is 42 seconds. When I detach the DVD drive, the boot time is aprox 20 to 21 seconds before the full EvolutionX dash is loaded. I tried several DVD drives (the one original in this Xbox is a Thompson, but I also tried Philips, Samsung) and the load time is with the DVD drive attached always 42 seconds and without at max 21 seconds. I also tried another 80 wires 40 pins IDE cable a had laying around, but same issue. Because I sometimes use the DVD drive I can`t eliminate it, so I'm out of ideas. If the adapter was also slow without the DVD, I would suspect that to be the problem, but in this case the performance without the DVD is fine (I also tested the adapter in a PC and it has good throughput). So if anyone has an idea to check and improve the time with the DVD attached it would be nice.
  3. I've noticed something when I turn on my Xbox. It does the initial 'flubber' xbox animation when I turn it on, however it sits there for quite some time (maybe at least a good minute) before it moves on. Now normally it would do the xbox animation screen and the word 'microsoft' in white letters pop up indicating it's good to go and proceed to a dashboard. Mine now is doing the animation and sits there for a while, longer than normal, before I get the microsoft text and it goes to the dash. Additionally it isn't showing the XBMC Emustation title screen before it jumps into XBMC Emustation either like it did before. Again, normally it would show a XBMC Emustation title screen before it went into Emustation. So my xbox does this -> turns on / does xbox animation -> hangs for a bit before microsoft text pops up -> takes a while on blank screen -> eventually loads up XBMC Emustation On my other xbox it goes -> turns on / animation -> instantly does microsoft text -> quickly shows XBMC Emustation title / splash screen -> goes right into XBMC Emustation Any ideas on what is going on and what I can do to resolve this? XBMC Emustation is loaded on E: and all roms/media/etc are on F:
  4. So I've gotten my Xbox all setup and am using xbmc-emustation. Which is amazing. However, it seems like my game list menus are a lot slower than any of the YouTube videos I've watched. The videos look like it takes a second or two for the games lists to come up, but mine is more like 30-40 seconds. When exiting a rom (with the option to return to the list enabled) it only stays on the black screen for a second or two then displays the list. Is it normal for it to hang for 30+ when loading the list from the carousel? I can still hear the button press noises it you press them. I'm on the latest version as far as any update checking tells me... It scanned everything fine. And the lists look/work fine once they open. Thanks in advance for and help.
  5. Xbox takes about ten minutes to load the dashboard if I do not attach the DVD drive. I have more xboxes than I do working DVD drives so my goal is to build a working xbox that doesn't require the DVD drive. My issue seems to match a previous post. I used TruHexen 2021 to write 256K EvoX NoDVD to TSOP. From the previous thread, I see that KaosEngineer recommended using EvTool to customize the BIOS before flashing. I grabbed EvolutionX M8plus Bios.rar from xbins. I am paranoid about bricking my xbox. Before I flash, I wanted to make sure I am flashing the correct BIOS. Within the archive, I see a M8plus.bin file which I believe is the correct one to use for 1.2. The MD5 is 0xdfc6288f6b67fd021e1970491c64c0a0. This MD5 doesn't match the Evox M8 MD5 listed at https://www.reddit.com/r/originalxbox/wiki/bios/md5 of aa4d0820b932009090f780f0ee1d1b1c. Do I have the correct Evox M8plus BIOS for my 1.2?
  6. After upgrading my xbox HDD, it not only boots and runs 10 times slower, but the DVD drive now doesn't read any disk I put into the disk drive even official xbox games. It just says unknown. Now I don't mind the system booting up slower, but not reading anything in the disk drive is a major problem. I followed this tutorial exactly (I used the exact parts and followed all steps)
  7. Hi Guys, I'm trying to fix an xbox which takes about 5minutes to boot. It is a softmoded V1.6 and I swapped its dvd driver from a Samsung (which I need for my main xbox) to a Philips (very temperamental and reads just some original games). I don't know why but the slow boot is related to the dvd drive, as it boots in a flash when connected to his original dvd drive. Anything I can do to solve the issue keeping the Philips drive? Thanks a lot!
  8. DHCP, PC and Xbox are wired ethernet. All devices in the same room. Basically one day it was fine and the next it wasn't. Its so strange. When I ftp to any xbox from my PC, it maxes out around 1mb on FlashFXP. I have tried from Linux using a different client. Also tried 3 different windows clients. I changed out modems and ethernet NIC. If I setup an FTP from one xbox to another, the speeds between them are great/normal like 11mb. I can take files FROM the xboxs to my PC at the same speed. This is not simply just a 1 xbox issue if you cant tell. Any xbox I hook up, same shit happens. I tried 3 different dashboards. Tried different HDDs obv. The only thing I can think of is around the time this started happening, I did the forza multiple screen thing through DHCP. However my setup has completely changed since then, and new xboxs too. I am really lost on what this could be. I feel like i have covered every single base, but problem persists. This has happened to me in the past and 2 things fixed it. One time, I changed the ethernet cable. Tried that this time, didn't work. It specifically happened after a windows update way back so i reverted to an old version and that fixed it. However trying linux I feel has ruled that out. /shrug
  9. Hi dear. As primary dash I use UnleashX, but for some games I enjoy some trainer use so I set up EvolutionX and I launch it when I need to apply a trainer (Xored Launcher 2.2 just crashes on splash screen with lots of trainer files in folder). However EvolutionX is extremely slooooow to scroll up and down. Is there something I'm missing, like a parameter to set or a .ini variable, to scroll the list faster? Thank you, have a nice day Sceriffo
  10. Hi all, First post here. Have my soft modded OG xbox that I have had for probably 18 years. Has a 120GB HDD in it, and I use it mostly for Mame at this point. Just last evening, it started doing something very strange. It boots up OK, I get the factory boot animation, "Matrix Inside", etc, but then when it transitions to the EVO-X menu, the screen only updates what looks like a frame every 2 seconds. It will slloooooowly fade in the EVO-X menu, then I can hold "down" on the controller and it will slooooowly move from one menu entry to the next. It's almost unusable. Once I start an app, everything is OK. For example, Mame works fine. It just literally takes 5-10 minutes to get through the menu to start it up. It has been probably 15 years since I have messed with this thing, as far as modifying anything. Anyone have any suggestion as to what might be going on?
  11. I am filling a 2tb drive and the bigger i make the menu, the slower it boots. is there any way to get unleash x to not autoload the menu's so it will boot faster?
  12. I've noticed that roms on CoinOps take much longer to load when using a PATA-SATA adapter and a 2TB HDD - is this a known issue? Thanks
  13. Hey guys, I'm also active on the facebook page but wanted to also post my question here in the hopes the right person would be able to answer my question. I'm currently working on an 'ULTRA SLIM MOD" (all caps yes!) and am having some troubles on this 1.6 board with the Alladin Xt Plus2 chip. I've made some slimboxes in the past and this is my first 1.6 board. The mod chip is working fine and flashed with M8+ for 1.6 with the "Check dvd-drive" option disabled allowing me to run it, well, without a dvd. I've confirmed the bios is on there (changed the colour of the X logo) and it still boots perfectly with the dvd drive in it. Now come the tricky part, without the dvd drive it does actually boot up but it takes around 10 minutes (!) to even get unleashx to open, and it doesn't get any better from there. What am I doing wrong with above method that works flawless on 2 v1.0 boards with the same bios (but for 1.0-1.5 of course) with the same settings?
