About Me

  1. This is an odd one. Various Emuxtras video collections have been causing me issues with Madmab emulators, some preview videos play, others lock up the Xbox, if I delete all the ones that lock up the emulator the Xbox is fine, it will play 90% of the videos, as soon as it hits one it doesn't like it locks up. I've been on this problem for a couple of weeks or more. I found installing the latest emulator versions has helped sometimes with some emulators, and they no longer lock playing preview videos, others still lock up such as the Colecovision emulator, NeoGensPlusGX and the PSX emulator. On some of the Madmab emulators it won't even acknowledge there are any videos in the video folder, it will just leave the video preview window blank but will still lock up if I hit a game with a known lockup video. Another thing, there was a non-calibrated controller joystick problem with aftermarket controllers causing freezing on some of the emulators, I was using an aftermarket controller so was affected by this, updating versions or just plugging in my stock controller resolved this freezing problem scrolling the menus. All that did is complicated my problem even worse before I saw in the changelogs that was a problem so I was aware of it and could establish when that was the cause of the freezing. At first, I thought perhaps corrupted videos, but today I proved that wrong by removing the HDD from my 1.6 Xbox and putting it into my 1.1 Xbox, suddenly the problem is entirely gone, all preview videos work fine on every emulator. Now I'm totally confused, it's not a software problem, unless it's a 1.6 compatibility problem I'm not aware of, it's a Pal 1.6 Crystal Limited edition Xbox, all new capacitors and no known hardware problems, without the preview videos all emulators work well as do all Xbox Games. Even if my skin isn't set to play the preview videos if the videos are in the folder and I scroll the games it will lock on the games that have the videos that seem to cause the problem. If I change the time that it starts to play the preview video from half a second to 5 seconds or more I can scroll the menu without it locking up, as long as I don't pause on one of the bad game's that I know their video locks it up. If I just disable where it has the option to play movies in the emulator it never locks up. I thought I'd reach out and see if anyone else has encountered this, it would be odd my 1.6 has a fault that only causes freezing in emulators when playing video previews and it works perfectly elsewhere. I spent about a week FTPing all the contents of the 6tb hard drive in it to another Xbox, it didn't freeze once being left on all that time doing the FTP. It gets countless days of gameplay with no freezing. It's running a mod chip with Cerbios 242 on a red Startech adapter, the hard drive in it is brand new and perfectly fine, tested with WD Daigs on a long test. I'm at the point of giving up on this one but thought I'd ask first. My next test I guess is another 1.6 XBox with the same HDD and see if it acts the same.
  2. Ive had a good sort out, I have 3 working tsop'd boards f/s, a 1.0 (with gpu fan and controller daughterboard), the other 2 are 1.2 and 1.4 (i think!), all have cerbios flashed to them, £25 ea plus post ppg. Other bits available on request, got 5 decent green jewels, loads of fans, case screws, controller ports, drive cables, front power boards, unlocked stock hard drives, basically anything from the original xbox apart from anything dvd drive or casing related (i do have a couple of plastic bases tho). also have a 1.6 board that has an Aladdin chip fitted, works fine but cant ftp to it for some reason
  3. I recently got an xbox and had to replace the capacitors and remove the clock capacitor. Before this the console would flash orange led. There was minimal damage done by the clock capacitor. After replacing the xbox would turn on and i would move passed setting the clock. I tested a game and it was going well until i got a reconnect controller screen. I was unable to move passed the screen so I restarted. When it rebooted the controller was unresponsive. I disassembled the xbox and checked the daughter board that the ports are connected to. Cleaned it and reinstalled it. Booted up and the controller worked again. I moved past the clock screen and again controller life disappeared…. I can only get the controller to work after i reseat the daughter board and the power completely discharged from the board… What do you think the problem can be? I have tested multiple. OEM controllers, on three different working xboxes. None other have daughter boards so i cant swap to test atm.
  4. I am having some issues with a system I am working on hardmodding, and I'd like to save the system if possible. The issue: I have a 1.0 OG Xbox console where the controllers do not work History of this project: This console started off as a non-working console on Ebay that had never been opened. It had hard drive issues so would give an error code 8 on boot. I was able to install an aladdin mod chip, and throw in a new formatted drive an boot into xblast and gentoox to try to flash cerbios. Xblast did not recognize the mod chip, so I tried gentoox also. My controllers do not work in either dashboard. I have an original controller from ebay that was advertised as working, as well as a cheap 3rd party controller from amazon. I do not have another Xbox, so its possible neither controller works. What I have tried so far: All 4 controller ports (If that even works in those dashboards) re capping the motherboard replacing the daughter board (1.0) and controller ports checking traces for continuity near the clock capacitor (there was a bit of leakage but not really any damage), near the controller headers, and general spot checks My question is, what would you try next? I would really like to save this console, but I am running out of ideas on how to repair it. Any advice/insight/knowledge would be greatly appreciated.
  5. Is there another place I can find ports of games to put on my xbox? I've gone through here: http://www.emuxtras.net/dlsystem/ Just looking for another great site that may have some other stuff to find. Thanks!
  6. Hi everyone! I come to you with the following problem. I have an XBOX 1.1 in which no controller port works. The console is unmodified and has not been opened before. I took it apart to replace the clock capacitor. Before the replacement, the ports did not work either. There is a picture and sound. XBOX asks to set the time but it is impossible. I have two controllers. One original and one non-original. The non-original one I tested on a PC and it worked there, the other one I haven't tested yet. The other controllers I do not have. I checked the motherboard looking for broken paths, but I did not find such, however, I will check again. There is corrosion around the clock capacitor. Especially at the components R7G1, R7G2, R7G3 and Q7G1. It seems to me that the corrosion is only superficial, but I would prefer to replace these components. I found information that R7G2 has a value of 1.1 kOhm (SMD code 112) unfortunately I could not find anything about R7G1 and R7G3. Q7G1 is npn transistor - MMBT3904LT1. The question is whether these components are related to non-functioning controllers //edit I forgot to write, there is a voltage of 4.95V on the power pins, in the controller ports
  7. What are your thoughts on port forwarding and what does it do? Is there anything you always struggle with when it comes to port forwarding and are looking for help? I am looking at these but not getting satisfied. zendesk purevpn
  8. Just checking to see if there are any devs that would like to look into any of these games that have the source available. I know some have already been ported to xbox, however there are quite a few that would be interesting to see running. https://github.com/historicalsource?tab=repositories Here is the original thread where I came across it. Thanks to Anthony for bringing it up. https://www.dreamcast-talk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=14362&sid=6ed6fdb2d6b35f40b68765561d4d2f92
  9. Trying to get rid of all these controller ports I have. 20 shipped in the us for a complete set for the xbox, choose from red, green, blue, yellow, white, or any combo of the five.
  10. Hey guys I'm new here. Was wondering if somebody could solve a little problem for me? Just installed emustation everything runs fine except it won't recognize any of my ports which are located in my f drive under the emulators folder. Any suggestions? Thanks again
  11. The kids broke the connectors inside the front USB ports on my Falcon. Does anyone know where I can order replacement parts? I know it has to be soldered to the motherboard; I'm pretty handy with a desolderer. :-) Searched Digikey without success. The USB ports are the rectangular silver box in the front right corner of this photo. Much obliged.
  12. I've been asking around at different sites to try and see what FPS's were able to be ported to the xbox. I've had a lot of information but without any results. So far I know of these from the PC will work. 1.Alien Vs. Predator: Gold Edition 2 Descent II 3 Doom 4 Doom II 5 The Ultimate Doom 6 Final Doom: The Plutonia Experiment 7 Final Doom: TNT: Evilution 8 Duke Nukem 3D 9 Heretic 10 Hexen 11 Rise of the Triad 12 Shadow Warrior 13 Quake 14 Quake II 15 Quake III Arena (Featuring Homer Simpson vs Darth Vader) 16 Zombie Crisis I found these at this link here. http://digthatbox.com/2011.02.27_arch.html#1298943709066 I also found these games listed on eBay. The seller's Xbox had a lot listed here. 13. I have a curious situation with a v1.4 and an X3CE installed. It seems to have troubles on controller ports 3 and 4... i found plugging a wireless controller dongle into port 3 does nothing (in xbmc) and port 4 "blacks out" the video. the console doesnt reset or anything... just switched to black screen... has something been modded or is something broken? very curious indeed
