About Me

  1. Hi i have a Xbox 1.0 with a corrupt bios and i discovered that the TSOP mod wasn’t done before i flashed it and ended up corrupting the bios. I tried the 3 wire trick and that didn’t work and can’t seem to find any bios reflash settings on the Open Xenium mod chip. So that really only leaves me with flashing a new chip and soldering it in. Is that the only option i have?
  2. Hey guys, Wondering if someone might be able to help me with this. Recently installed OpenXenium on my 1.6 with LPC board (pics attached). Xbox turning on just fine but getting a black screen when video cables connected. Tried both component and standard composite. The Xbox led is green as per usual. The chip led itself actually flashes so I know its getting power BUT after it flashes a few colors the chip LED turns off and I'm left with a black screen on the tv. When i remove my video cables from the xbox and only have the power plugged into the Xbox the chip LED stays on, flashing every few seconds between red and yellow. Xbox boots fine to dash with chip unplugged. The machine is soft modded. Could that be causing an issue getting to the Xenium OS screen? Losing hope on this. Thoughts?
  3. Hi all, Over the past few months I have painstakely reverse engineered the Team Xodus Xenium modchip's CPLD and written a complete open source replacement. I call it OpenXenium. https://github.com/Ryzee119/OpenXenium It has full support for XeniumOS and its features. Repo will list them. The Xenium CPLD is normally read protected to prevent clones. This project did not attempt to break that protection, instead I determined the behavioral properties of the CPLD to write my own VHDL source code. Check the repo out! there is a few xenium related tools that may even help people with a genuine Xenium! Hopefully this will help with LPC related CPLD projects people may have in mind too. Enjoy! Ryan
  4. So I've just completed my openxenium install along with spi2par2019 / LCD display and Segate 2TB HDD. There are 4 bio on the openxenium which are x2.5035.137 bin, IND-BIOS.5004.67.bin, evox.m8plus.v16.fc.137.bin and Retail Kernel. If I boot with the evox.m8plus.v16.fc.137.bin bios, the console hangs up on the xbox logo and the word microsoft when its trying to load the dash. If I reset the console by ejecting the disc and closing it, it reboots fine striaght into the dash. If I use either x2.5035.137.bin or IND-BIOS.5004.67.bin then console boots straight into the dash from the first time. I tried different HDD, different IDE2SATA adapter both chinese and StarTech ones with all giving the same problem. This leads to believe that the issue is with the evox bios. Any suggestions or idea, should I be using a different evox bios? HDD is formatted with extra G & F partitions, I resized the partions to a smaller size, restarted and then re-partitioned again to the correct size as suggested in a previous post.
  5. Hi all! I'm having some trouble with installing an OpenXenium purchased from MakeMHZ into an Xbox 1.0. I'm relatively new to this, and have surely made some mistakes. When I start it up, it does this: https://imgur.com/a/HTHYrU2 Here's what I know: Stupidly, I soldered the D0 pad on the modchip to the 1.6 pad - that has been fixed. I don't think this is the issue, because I have a second chip that I did not make this mistake with, and it still does not work. I didn't scrape the solder mask off LPC ports, and really had trouble flowing the joints. The one I'm most concerned with is the bottom right joint of the first photo. Can I run a jump wire from that to one of the nearby test pads? I'm fairly confident the D0 pad on the modchip is correctly connected to D0 on the board - I tested the continuity from the chip to the both points on the board, and was good. I have photos available here: https://imgur.com/a/FX7R43B Thanks for any info in advance!!
  6. Hi all. I just finished installing an OpenXenium modchip in my 1.1v Xbox. It boots into XeniumOS fine but I am unable to launch into any bios. I added the retail kernal to TSOP and it returns an error 16. This is using the original HDD and 40pin cable. I also bought a new HDD, IDE to SATA adapter and 80pin cable. Unfortunately I get error 11 with this setup. I've tried using the new 80pin cable with the original HDD and it still gives an error 16. I have also tried pulling the modchip out and having everything stock (Original HDD, 40pin cable) but it still gives me error 16. I'm not sure what else to do. Any advice would be really appreciated.
  7. HI all, I am new to mochips but I recently decided to take the plunge. I found an OpneXenium which I bought reasonably cheap on eBay (including LPC rebuild). Since I am not so good at soldering, I also bought a spare 1.6 to try my skills. To my surprise I found that it had been modded. A disconnected Duo X2 was hanging loose inside it (a white model with AMD chip). As is, the xbox boots without problem into MS dash. When the duo is connected and I start the xbox via the eject button, everrything works as intended (MS mode) When the duo is connected and I start the xbox via the on/off button, a red light flashes and the xbox enters a quick on/off cycle (drives starting then stopping). My guess is that the Duo is defective. It probably was installed to read exports (since the HDD is a 10GB model), then fried and disconnected in order to sell the xbox. But that could be good news If I can make use of the already fixed LPC. Can it be done, as the nubers of pins differ (+2 for the openxenium)? And what would I be supposed to do with the white wire (D0) that is connected to the duo? Please help! Serge
  8. What ups So glad I found this awesome forum for the OG. I installed an OpenXenium chip and now I don't know what to do. My goal is to swap the original HDD (which is EVOX softmodded) with a spare 1TB I have laying around. I tried adding the retail kernel to the launch menu but it isn't working. On the original HDD the xbox boots to a black screen, on the spare HDD the xbox boots to an error screen. What is my next step?
  9. So i kind of excited to finally have it and want to ask if there is anything else i need to get this running. i have the little board for my xbox so in theory i should be good to go but i wanna make sure i ask those more experienced then me so i don't mess up.
  10. So i have a 1.6 or 1.6b xbox and i ordered a mod chip to try modding it. i see every time someone mods an xbox that have this board that they use with it. I don't have that board and want to ask if its possible to mod it without it.
  11. I just tried to power up a 1.6 crystal, and nada, so I checked the PSU, and there's nothing on the 3.3V standby. I CBA faultfinding, as the parts with shipping will likely cost as much as a PSU, so I need a PSU for a 1.6. .. does anybody have one? Cash (PayPal) or exchange for 1.0 - 1.1 PSU. Also need an OLED OpenXenium with daughterboard, if anyone has one. I'm in Ireland.
  12. This is not yet for sale. I just want to see, whether there is anyone in EU (preferably Czech Republic or its surrouding countries), who would want a OGX360 or OpenXenium. I have ordered 5 of both from jlcpcb, i'll assemble them, keep some for me and sell the surplus.
  13. I’m in the process of building a few OpenXeniums myself and I haven’t quite hashed out a game plan for programming the CPLD. I don’t have a Xilink or JTAG programmer of any kind but I do have a raspberry pi. The most clear instruction I’ve found for using the pi is here. I like that using this method I can supposedly flash xeniumOS at the same time so I won’t have to hotswap. Has anyone else tried this or is able offer any guidance for using the pi?
  14. Hi, I'm having a really strange issue with some OpenXenium I've built that is driving me crazy. Basically, after flashing XeniumOS with Xenium Tool and hotswap method, on the first boot the modchip works fine: XeniumOS is loaded, I can flash other bios (and I can boot them!), so everything works as intended. However, if I reboot the Xbox the chip doesn't work anymore and the console FRAG. If I reflash XeniumOS it works again at first boot, but - as before - when rebooting xbox everything I get is a FRAG. I tried turning on with eject button or recovery switch, but nothing change. I tried different dump of XeniumOS and used also the official release of 2.3.1 XeniumOS. It simply acts as a modchip without any bios. It's really something strange because this is happening with all of the five chips I've assembled, with exactly the same behaviour. Thinking of a bad batch of Xilinx or flash I bought another set, but even with them I've the same issue. I really can't understand what's going on. It's like the flash get corrupted after every first boot of XeniumOS. The Xbox boots without any issues with Aladdin Xblast (which I use to do the hotswap method), so I don't think it's something related to the console. I've upgraded RAM to 128MB, but I don't think it's a problem for openxenium. I program the CPLD with a DIY Xilinx Parallel programmer and Impact (using .jed or .svf) without any error and CPLD works fine, it's recognised by xenium tools, I can change the colour of the LED etc. Any suggestions? I've searched on the internet, but could not find anything useful. Thanks
  15. Hi, I have a hard modded OpenXenium chip with a 1 TB WD Blue HDD. I have everything set up and I am trying to get more than 200 GB - with more than > 200 GB left on a partition. Filezilla is not letting me do that. I am just trying to transfer the titles. They are all HDD ready for transfer but they do not go through at a certain point. They all become failed transfers. The bios I am using is unleashed x from the OGXBOX installer. It was not flashed by the program but was transferred by my network. It is a CEE bios. I switch dashboard sometimes. The only one that I have on there that is not preinstalled is Emulation Station. I had used the DVDmulleter to get the bios necessary. The HDD has been partitioned correctly having being split from F to G the remaining left. I am fairly new to this and any advice to help would be beneficial.
  16. I did search first before posting and couldn't find any threads specifically talking about this. I'm sure I'm missing something obvious. I have tested with an original XBOX S Type controller and a 3rd party controller. I have also tested with a USB keyboard and an adapter. None of which work when I enter XeniumOS. However, the controllers work when modchip is disconnected. This is a 1.4 revision XBOX. I assume it must be one of my solder joints to the modchip. I have already reflowed these joints multiple times to fix another issue. Unfortunately, I closed the machine up before I realized the problem. Anyone know which pins I should focus on? Is there a way to test continuity between LPC header pins and the motherboard? Thanks for any help you can provide.
  17. Hi all, I've recently decided to get back into the Xbox scene again after quite a few years. I'd seen that the OpenXenium modchip was one of the easiest and most up to date chips so I bought one to fit into my 1.6 crystal. I decided on using an LPC board instead of choosing a wired install but I found it really clunky, and was having trouble getting it to boot. I decided, after numerous attempts to get things running, to remove the board and wire up instead. I have checked the joints and checked the board for spatter, removing what I can as and when I come across it. I'm now sitting without any modchip, checking to see if it works as stock again, only to be greeted with a frag. No matter what I've done from here has been the same result Could any of you direct me here and let me know of any possible fix. I've taken pictures of the board. Please let me know if you need any more info. I had to upload them to some image uoad site as the files were too large, so here they are as URLs below. Thanks Images https://ibb.co/09TyX0J https://ibb.co/jMRd4LW
  18. I have an OpenXenium chip installed in my 1.6 box w/ 2TB Sata HDD; StarTech adapter; Chimeric custom 80 ide cable. I just finished installing the Xenium RGB mod by Nemesis. So I downloaded all of the Xenium OS LED and Skin files. Uploaded them to their own subdirs in a subdir named XeniumOS on E:\ so: E:\XeniumOS\Skins -and- E:\XeniumOS\LEDS when I select Choose LEDs... the only thing that shows up is <Default>, not the list of leds. I thought that was weird so I made sure E:\XeniumOS dir existed w/ sub dir LEDS, yep it does. Still stumped I thought well maybe the chip isn't reading from the HDD for some reason...so I opened Disk Tools from the OS menu and selected Format Partition and choose the Z partition. Selected Master selected Yes all the way through til I was REALLY sure....it said "Failed to format partition!" Did the same for Slave. So I confirmed it's not reading from the HDD...then I thought well i should FTP in and see if I can see the list of directories, they aren't there. I put my orig 8GB IDE HDD in w/ orig IDE cable and tried the same thing....it shows the LED files and Skin files. I'm stumped trying to figure this out. I've made sure the blue end of the IDE cable is connected to the HDD. Tried ALL of the jumper locations on the StarTech adapter; Master, Slave, CS and the other one. I have no idea, I gave up for the evening. FWIW, XBMC loads fine and I can see all of my files in the dash and FTP, games and apps load fine from the HDD...so It's a Xenium OS issue; it's probably related to another issue but I'm not sure what it is so I made this post asking for help. Can anyone offer a suggestion on how to get read access to my sata HDD in the Xenium OS? TIA!
  19. Hi everybody, i'm new here and this Will be my first post. I am new to original xbox modding, and I just recently installed an openxenium modship on my 1.6b xbox. I've also done The spi2par2019 lcd mod from ryze119. So now to my issue, when im using Xbmc and dvd2xbox lcd is working perfect, however when im booting into xenium OS lcd shows a couple of random strange looking symbols. My thoughts are that this could be due to some settings because here is the thing, first time i booted up into xbmc same thing happened where lcs showed some strange characters. And this were fixed simply by changing some settings in the xbmc lcd settings, and the reason this was happening whas due to The backlight were set by deafult to 80% and since ive done The arduino only installation (no backpack) i dont have backlight controll, so i set it to 100 percent and everything worked fine after that. So my guess is that it might be some similar issue happening in xenium OS where maybe some deafult lcd settings is causing issues and I cant find any way to change lcd settings in xenium OS, does Anyone know if its possible? Or have an idea of whats going on? Its really a small issue since its just happening in xenium OS and works perfect in every other app but it just anoys me, hope someone can help, i'd appreciate it.
  20. I put together a package with all the software needed. I also included the SVF file generated by ISE's impact. This is now the easiest method for programming OpenXenium's CPLD chip. After setup, it's just one click. Merry Christmas and enjoy! https://sites.google.com/view/xc9500xl-with-openocd-ft232r/home
  21. I got a SPI2PAR2019 kit and an HD44780 compliant screen and tried to wire it up last night but ran into some problems. The LCD just shows zeroes on the screen. When it first powers up, I see 2 of the 4 lines filled with solid-square characters (two full rows of solid boxes, rows 2 and 4). Then after the Xbox boots up further, the screen goes blank, then shows zeroes (see photo). I'm also seeing some flickering on the screen showing the zeroes. I checked the wiring diagram of the LCD I'm using and verified that points #1-16 correlate to points #1-16 on my LCD, so I don't think it's that. I also tried powering the arduino with a USB battery bank and that didn't make any difference. I have a 2nd LCD that showed the same issue. I have a 2nd spi2par but haven't wired that in yet. I've enabled LCD options in XBMC to no avail. SPI2PAR2019 from ChimericSystems.com White on Blue 20x4 LCD Character Display from CrystalFontz.com Wired through an OpenXenium modchip. Thoughts: Shorten wire going from spi2par to LCD. Try getting rid of the wire entirely and just soldering the spi2par straight onto the back of the LCD. Perhaps the spi2par doesn't come pre-programmed? Not sure how to tell if it is or not. (I asked the seller for details)
  22. Hey guys, So I was attempting to make my own OpenXenium modchips. I managed to get all the components and build 6 of them. Of the 6, 4 of them were successfully programmed with a BusPirate XSVF programmer (i figure I just need to reflow and check for bridges on the other 2). When I go to do the final programming using Ryzee's Xenium tools only 1 of the 4 that were programmed actually get detected with the software. Even then when I go to program that one chip with the the tools it only gets to 50% complete and then the xbox just freezes on the flashing process leaving the chip in a partially flashed state. Im using the recovery.bin file from xbins for flashing. I was wondering if you guys have any ideas as to what might be wrong in this situation. Im in the process of setting up an NXDK environment to see if I can build the tools .xbe from there. Thanks
  23. Hey guys! I made a video guide on how to install / setup the OpenXenium modchip on a 1.6 OG xbox including an LPC rebuild installation. These chips are not much more than the Alladins prebuilt and significantly cheaper if you want to build one yourself. They're way more feature rich as well and support multiple bios' + LCD support. I'd highly recommend these chips my dudes. Enjoy and let me know if you have any questions.
  24. Hello all and sorry for the "newb" question. I have just purchased 2 OG Xbox's, one is a 1.0(shown in picture) and the other is a 1.6. I currently have the 1.0 with a openXenium, upgraded to 2tb and just recently painted / led'd it up! I have it booting to the openXenium screen, I can FTP to this machine and see all folders. What I'm looking for is, what bios and dashboard do I need for these two? Its been years since I did this stuff and originally had the X3ce but sold it long ago...... Any help would be greatly appreciated!
  25. Hi, I am in the UK and want to get a small batch of pcbs made up, I have been in touch with a couple of UK companies and they are out of my price range. Anybody have any recommendations? Thanks
