About Me

  1. Not sure what happened but on startup the screen froze on the boot menu with evo x insignia. now It tries to start twice and either dies or flashes red green with no screen output. Machine is hardmod with alldin xt plus chip using lpc board ver 1.6 stock hd Is this a dead hd or something else? I thought it was a bad dvd drive ( sometimes it wouldn't eject) but am not sure. I was planning on a 2Tb upgrade but was enjoying learning FTP into xbox of games I wanted to play first knowing I was going to need more space. I hope I don't have to start from scratch .
  2. I just read in Huang's "Hacking the Xbox" a warning that the fanless heatsinks are prone to overheating if operated without the disk drives installed over the motherboard. I was just about to replace my 1.0 GPU heatsink (with the fan) with the later, fanless, one with the idea that I'd reduce the noise. But now I'm having second thoughts, as I will not be replacing the disk drives over the motherboard. Can anyone offer me some sage advice on whether or not i should keep the 1.0 heatsink? I may end up shaving ~1" off the top for a slim build. Would this eliminate the potential risk of overheating?
  3. Hello everyone, i have a hardmodded 1.6 xbox with EVOM8 bios. When i hit the power button it launches my custom boot logo and then xbmc4gamers. If i hit the eject button it starts the default flubber and then a black screen. At first i had a error 5 error, but i locked the drive and that message is gone, but now there is a black screen only. I want the default msdash. It's on the the c drive, but do i need to put it in a specific directory, or do something else? Greetings, Mpnet
  4. I've done the softmod with rocky5 and changed to NTSC in nk patcher and everythings good with componant cable picture wise in dashboard. I've tried launching tiger woods 2004 pal game via disc and just get blank screen ? is there a specific setup in the video options to get pal games to work once you change to NTSC ?
  5. X3 install with the push button panel on the front. It will not boot to MS Dash if I push and hold the power button. It quickly flashes red then switches to blue and boots to UnleashX. If I load the X3 menu (hold white button on startup) and select "Reboot With X3 Mod Disabled" it works perfectly - boots to MS Dash. I can also reach the MS Dash by selecting it from the UnleashX menu. Why won't the power button bypass function correctly?
  6. Hi, I just replaced my Philips VAD6011/21 Disc Laser Lens with a Disc Laser Lens for Xbox SPU-3141 Philips Microsoft original from ZedLabz https://www.ebay.com/itm/Disc-Laser-Lens-for-Xbox-SPU-3141-Philips-Microsoft-original-ZedLabz/333312052835?hash=item4d9af24e63:g:khoAAOSwGcpfEEyk Unfortunately it is still not reading my xbox games discs. I have the Rocky5 Softmod and it states a DVD drive status of "unknown". It seems like I did it correctly and desoldered those two points on the new Disc Laser Lens. Sometimes I will get the "Empty" status too. I tried Pot tweaks on the old laser and then that helped for a very short time so I bought the new laser after it stopped working. Any ideas? Thanks!
  7. can't get to flash it. I tried 2 seconds power button hold, no dice. Chip boots bios OK, but cant flash it.
  8. Hi all, I have an issue with my XBOX that doesn't power on anymore. Model: 1.2 TSOP: Yes, iND-2003 Mods: None other than removal of the clock capacitor Misc: Using the Chimeric Systems HDMI adapter (which is awesome) Yesterday I received a new modchip from eBay, the Xenium Gold with the 24K OS on it. I swapped out my old Aladdin chip and fired it up with no issues. I proceeded to add EvoxM8+, iND-2004, and XBlast on it. I tested all 3 BIOS and they all worked fine. From here I decided to do the 128mb RAM upgrade. I've successfully performed this upgrade once before. I'm using the same RAM that I purchased from eBay over a year ago that worked on my previous install on my other 1.3 XBOX: SAMSUNG 525 K4D263238F-QC50 I proceeded to solder in all the chips, but when I went to turn on the XBOX nothing happened. No light, no response, nothing. I don't ever recall hearing a pop or a snap. I double checked that I connected everything. Troubleshooting: - I thought it might be the PSU so I swapped in the working PSU from the 1.3 XBOX that I successfully did the RAM upgrade on and the same results. - The only thing I noticed was that when I pressed eject or power on either PSU, the Xenium chip LED lit up. If I held either button the LED just flashed. Other than that, no activity from the board whatsoever - One thing I noticed is that I soldered the final chip in backwards (chip 4 according to the XBlast diagram, the one closest to the ATX plug). I should have taken a break after 2 chips due to fatigue but I pushed through and I guess I wasn't paying attention. I used my hot rework station to pull the chip off and turn it around. Same results. - After this I decided to just pull the other 3 chips off to troubleshoot it from scratch, but no joy. - The repairs for power buttons I've seen after searching are mostly just the trace repairs on the 1.0/1.1. I'm not great at troubleshooting so I wouldn't know where to begin without a guide on the 1.2 XBOX. Did I fry the board somehow? Did putting the RAM in backwards just kill it? Did I ESD shock it? Did I get the iron next to something that I shouldn't have for too long and didn't notice? Here's some pics I uploaded to imgur since they're too big. I can take more photos or better photos of certain things if needed. Thanks in advance. https://imgur.com/a/iM2cj5y
  9. Though I've been lurking for some time... I finally got my crystal 1.6 set up the way I wanted it, so I figured what's a better time to actually introduce myself? I set it up with an internal ogx360/receiver, cool & quiet fan, 2tb hd, openxenium chip & front panel & controller lights, xerc 2 xe... that's all that immediately comes to mind.. https://imgur.com/a/HGlrd68
  10. I have a 128 MB Xbox. I am sure the RAM is all good, because I did run Ghost Squad and Virtua Cop 3 until recently when my hard drive died. However, since I changed the hard drive, I just get an all pink screen. I think it's either the files themselves causing the problem or perhaps the way I have them installed. I do have the Chihiro folder with mbcom and mbrom folders in it on the E drive. That's the only special thing I remember having to do. I attached the log files from the chihiro folder; one from virtua cop 3 and one from ghost squad. Not sure what it all means but at the bottom they both say "failed to launch boot.id" Any input will be appreciated! logvc3.txt logghost.txt
  11. Hi everyone I've found that one of my old xbox is not working anymore when i try to boot it is making a weird sound and goes off, anyone know what could be the problem? maybe a power supply issue? The xbox should be a 1.1 with softmod not sure as was in a box for years I leave a video attached of the problem Thanks xbox_mpeg4_mpeg4.avi
  12. why am i not allowed to get hexen dude
  13. Hi! I'm not able to download the torrent, it says "sorry, you don't have permission to download this file" How can i have the access granted ? Thanks
  14. Hello all! I joined this site in October of 2018 and back then I was able to download files from the download section of this site. Has there been changes to the requirements to be able to download? It's not allowing me to do so anymore. I've looked for topics covering this, or a help section for an explanation to no avail. How to I get download permissions back?
  15. I purchased a second hand XBox from eBay. The console came with an Aladdin Advance mod-chip already installed. This chip looks different to other "Aladdin" chips in that it doesn't have the 12-pin female header. Where that socket is on other chips of this kind there is a unpolluted area labelled "FLASH". I don't think this console was ever used for anything else other than playing copied games, as it was running on the stock Dashboard, and still had the 8GB HDD installed. Even when the EvoX mode was initialised by holding the power button to turn on the chip, the console still booted to the stock Dashboard. To cut a long story short, I opened the console up to remove the clock capacitor, and give the console a general clean, and I accidental knocked off the wire going from L2 to the IDE socket, at the socket side. To be honest, the soldering was extremely bad, and looked like it had been done in a rush by someone who had very little idea of what they were doing. I promptly repaired the loosens wire, and as the soldering attaching the chip to the motherboard was a very bad job also, I decided to add some solder to the points to reinforce them a little. I personally don't like the 'quick-solder' pads much, but that's how this chip had been installed. And as I mentioned there is no header socket at all. However, on reassembling the console, it won't boot. Neither into EvoX mode or 'stock'. The way this chip was set up was to hold the power button to activate it. But that isn't working either. All that happens is the console powers on, then off, on again, and off a second time and when it powers on for the third time (all of this is automatically on it's own) the console doesn't display anything on screen (although I do hear a normal 'click' of the speakers when the power comes on) and the consoles LEDs are alternating red and green. Which, from what I read is a bad BIOS read. I don't understand why though, as I haven't done anything to the BIOS. I did load up Hexen 2018, and went into the flashing options, but I didn't actually do a flash, because I didn't know what the chip was at the time, I thought it best to see what I was going to flash to first. This also installed the EvolutonX Dashboard automatically, which did work okay at first. I really don't know what has happened, but I have now done some damage to the chip itself in trying to find some way of getting the console to boot. There is a surface mounted capacitor right next to the LPC labelled "C7D2", which I must have accidentally touched with the tip of my iron, as there is a little 'spike' of fresh solder on it. Is it plausible that I have damaged this capacitor, and that is what's causing the console to fail to boot? If so, can I bypass this capacitor, or replace it? As I said, with all of the soldering and desolating I have ruined most of the 'quick-solder' pads on the chip now. As such I have ordered an Aladdin XT PLUS2 from eBay, but it's coming from China, so it's not going to be here for a few weeks. But as the console doesn't boot at all, with or without the chip installed, I am wondering if a new chip would actually make a difference. Because I haven't mentioned it above; it's a 1.0 XBox. I have even tried completely removing the chip altogether, which is how the console is right now. Yet, it still refuses to do anything other than what I described above. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I really don't like the idea that I've killed the console. I could obtain another, sure, but I would like to try and repair this one if I can. I dislike giving up on things if there is still a chance I can fix it.
  16. Yesterday I ftp'd Conker Live and Reloaded to my Xbox v.1.0 , however the game doesn't boot up, instead it displays a message saying: "there is a problem with your disc, it may be damaged or dirty". I tried patching the game with ACL in DVD2Xbox but nothing happens, I still get the same error. Is there something more I'm not taking in account?
  17. G'day all! i've recently got myself a soldering iron and am eager to TSOP my 1.1. I've not yet used the specific soldering iron (waiting for a practice kit to arrive in the mail) but i do have some experience with soldering so i generally know what i'm in for. The main issue is that the fear of messing something up and rendering the console useless is immense! I've barely used it as is so as to not wear out the hard drive, so it'd be a shame to have to bin it. What would be the correct method to join the required points. From many of the sources i've seen, the general strat (without using conductive ink or wire) seems to be apply solder to iron apply iron to points and move it around for no more than ~2 seconds pray that the points have been bridged is this correct? would it be a good idea to use flux on the points or would it not really do anything? Cheers!
  18. Hey everyone, I started ripping my games to my HDD (stock) using DVD2Xbox and then FTPing them over to my PC. I ran into the first game in my library, though, that is too large to fit on the stock HDD (Jade Empire). I'm planning on upgrading the HDD at some point anyway, but for now I figured I would use the "Copy DVD/CD to Samba share" feature of DVD2Xbox so that I can just rip it over the network to my PC. I have created a shared folder on my Windows 10 PC and made sure all of the appropriate network sharing/permissions options are set. I updated the DVD2Xbox config XML with the shared folder information. When I try to begin ripping the disc, though, I receive an error: "ACL processing is not supported over SMB." I tried going to the DVD2Xbox settings and setting General/Enable ACL Processing to "No", but no luck. I have tried searching online for a solution to this for some time, but have only found a few relevant threads. Of course they all end with someone saying "I fixed it," but nothing else. Has anyone else encountered this issue? Is there a setting on my Xbox or PC that I need to change? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Patrick
  19. I just installed xbmc emustation and it looks great. I am only going to use it for my original xbox games that I have already installed on the hard drive. The only problem I have is that I don't have any artwork for my games - instead I see a list of games when I click into the xbox folder. In the menu there is an option called 'Xbox games artwork installer' but nothing happens when I select it. Any idea on what I'm doing wrong - I'm not familiar with xbmc - first time using it as I always used my xbox for coin ops but I recently purchased a second xbox with games I used to play back in the day such as Black and Burnout 3 Takedown.
  20. I have a softmodded xbox and upgraded to a 250GB drive. I used Chimp 261812 - I cloned the C and E drive and selected the option for the F drive to get all unallocated space in the program. Problem is that the F drive only has 123GB ( both C and E have just over 4gb respectively) so I seem to be missing quite a few gigs - any ideas? Thanks
  21. Hi, I've managed to do all of the steps to install the unleashedx softmod via usb and splinter cell, the ftp settings, placing the snes9x X folder in the correct location, and getting the emulator to show up on the console. All i had left to do is simply hit the A button on any one one of the Roms to start them up, and yet nothing happens when i do that? The A button works fine for literally everything else except starting the Roms. I'm hoping it's because i have an off brand madcatz controller, and not an original xbox controller. Or maybe it's something more simple than that? Corrupted Roms maybe?
  22. I apologize if this has been covered but I came up empty when searching. So I finally powered on my OG Xbox with X3CE and X3CP after many years. The bios was old (3294) so figured I would update. Flashed 5035 and everything is working, however for some reason when booting with the white button pressed Config Live doesn't load. Any ideas?
  23. so i finally got the unlock from my OG XB hard drive i ported all my files over and i dont see any games i had in ISO format , if i FTP i can see them in my games folder ... i used the rocky 5 softmod on my new XB ,so did i do something wrong ??
  24. Hi, I am unable to display in 720p thru component cable. Using modern 4K TV with component port 480p / 720p are enabled in MSdash, Unleash X and XBMC4Gamers (booting 4gamers by default) The cable is OEM xbox 360 repurposed to fit OGxbox. (mode 2 and 3 enabled) I have an open xenium with LCD that displays the current resolution. I tried to boot from different bios Ind.5004 and X3.5035 seems to be locked to 480i Ind.5004 and X3.5035 (forced480p) gives me 480p but nothing else. While I understand that not all games are compatible with progressive scan, the dashboard and apps should run at 720p or am I missing something? Thanks
  25. Hello everyone! Hoping to get a bit of help with two small issues. Using UnleashX with the green block theme, but having the same issues without regard to the skin selected. First is that if I use the two triggers and the far left / far right buttons (back and something else) to return from a game to the main menu, the XBOX crashes with error 07. Power off and power on cycle sets thing right, but strange that it crashes just because I try to go back to the menu from inside a game. Second is that loaded games don't automatically show up in the "XBOX Games" menu. For example, I've burned a disc over to the HDD and also copied one through FTP. In both instances, I had to go into the game through File Explorer, start the .xbe file, and then go back to the menu to see the game in the games list. Any ideas? Thanks everyone! Blaine
