About Me

  1. Hello, found my original xbox 1.4 from back in highschool brought me back to the days when we had parties opening them up and modding them. Did some upgrades then I bought 3 more. Well I need the hexen disk and the site says I need to make 5 posts before I can download it to use on the xboxs unjust took apart and refurb.
  2. I know this group has a lot of new HDMI solutions recently, and has focused on the wii2hdmi mods. ( and I know there are more options coming in the near future) Here's a new option for you....I've recently finalized a completely new design (it's been in the works since christmas, but I'm pleased to announce that it is now completely functional) -supports component to HDMI conversion at all supported xbox video resolutions -Wolfson Audio IC to convert S/PDIF signal for the HDMI transmitter -Individually shielded video signals -Internal install will be an option There are two basic ways to take advantage of the digital audio 1)Direct decoding when passed through an HDMI receiver 2)Optical pass through from your TV to you receiver 3) it can also pass the stereo audio to play directly on your TV Sales are probably about a month out still, as I will be sending units out to a few trusted testers and get testing done with some of those problematic xbox systems that are around. https://imgur.com/a/QXP6lcM https://www.chimericsystems.com/product/hdmi-video-adapter
  3. Hi all! I think I'm in the right place. First bought this awesome console back in May 2002 as a gift to myself for finishing college (4 years late but I finished!) Became a big video game fan on and off ever since. Having this in 02 made me buy a PS2 as a birthday gift that summer. I'm a Sony and MS game console guy. Just recently picked up my OG Xbox from ebay and now I watched some videos to take it apart. I got a 1.6 and wanted to check how its guts look. I want to post pics to get opinions or a diagnosis from you experst if I should go any further with taking it apart. It's playing fine and hooked up to my 1080p Vizio via HDMI. Hope to talk to some of you and get some direction where to post my pics. Thanks!
  4. I would like to wish you all a happy new year 2020. Our beloved Xbox will soon be 20 years old. I am very proud that many of us still want to keep it alive I will particularly thanks for their job N64Freak, Ryzee119, SS_Dave and Kaos Enginer for all their hardware and software job around the Xbox, and for everybody take care of you, life is short, and we are all here to help us. 5. Hi all. I used to have a modded box like 10 years ago. Just recently picked up another one and am scrambling for faq's and how-to's to relearn. Been digging through the forums for a day now. Does anybody have a "for dummies" writeup to give me a refresher course on the different chips and options, and(more specifically) how to get things set up and working after the chip install as far as bios and dashboards etc?
  6. Hi all, when moving house I found my old pride and joy modded xbox. Big hdd, xecuter 3 chip and lcd screen. I fired it up and after blowing of the cobwebs it still looks great.
  7. Hey guys, I'm starting my first Xbox mod ever. I had owned the original but got rid of it years ago and haven't owned an XBox360 since 2011. I had found an XBox on Facebook for $50, turns out it's a 1.6, fully functioning, and after I bought that my brother in law found his XBox while he was moving so I have that as well, haven't taken that apart yet. I've taken the first one all apart and cleaned it all out. The thermal paste on the GPU is super tacky, I've not run into a thermal paste like that before, is that normal? I plan on installing an Aladdin XT4032 and putting in a SATA HDD. If there's any other "You should totally do this" or "instead of doing that do this" let me know, like I said this is my first time modding the XBox. Happy Thanksgiving!
  8. hi i just softmodded my xbox and look for tips, must haveeither games emulator apps etc Thanks
  9. Glad to see that there are still active modding communities. I was given an Xbox many years ago and finally decided to see what it's capable of. In the past couple days, I was able to find out what revision board I have, what points to solder to make the TSOP writable, common issues to look out for, and how to softmod with only an IDE cable and computer. I have never experienced an Xbox before this week, but it seems quite capable. I also made my own component cables with advice I found here. I'm very impressed with the community and the xbox. I have not been able to work for a couple months so this has given me something that i can do to occupy time. Please let me know if anyone has suggestions for other ways I can mod the console for cheap or free.
  10. I have a 1.0 and a 1.6 version XBox, both of which were acquired for free. I have started to dip into modding them to do some emulation after watching an excellent video on the Rocky5 softmod from Modern Vintage Gamer. Gonna slap some bigger hard drives in them and have some fun!
  11. Hello!, The original xbox is the one console I always wanted, but never got. When I had the flue, i decided it was time to buy one.. And have been happily playing Halo 2 for a few days now. Softmodded my xbox with a tutorial, and subscribed to check what's also possible Looks like a nice community!
  12. What you see is what you get, brand new in package X3CE Xecuter 3 Kit. Accepting offers.
  13. Hi all, I decided to dig out my Xbox (v1.1) and mod it to turn it into a emulation station. Luckily I got it out at the correct time as I caught the clock capacitor just as it was beginning to leak. I have just finished soft modding it and soldering the tsop write access solder points. Unfortunately I have gotten caught out by the Phillips disk drive as it decided it didn't want run Hexen which I had burnt to a DVD RW. I don't have any DVD R at hand so I will have to postpone the tsop BIOS flash to tomorrow when I can get some DVD R's. Hopefully I should be able to finish modding the Xbox tomorrow with the tsop flash and install a larger hard disk. I just wanted to say hi to everyone in this great forum.
  14. Hi all, new here. had my og xbox about 10yrs now. modded about 4yrs ago so looking whats new in the scene again as need to upgrade hdd to 500gb. Glad to be part of this fab forum.

  18. Already TSOP and removed the clock capacitor, now here looking for other cool things to do with my xbox
  19. So a member of the group was asking for a Dport to dport wire he was asking other members if they had one available because he had one of those LCD screens that go on top of the Xbox and use a proprietary wire that connects from the Xbox to the intec inc screen.. I told him it was easy enough to make that it was just a few wires he could not be bothered. This got me thinking maybe I should make an easy-to-follow schematic for this. I did not do any YouTube searches or Google searches. I clearly went off my HDMI schematic and figured out the rest for myself. There was an image going around that shows the dport but it is backwards it shows the front view so in this image you will see that it's been deciphered so it's easier to follow well soldering. I did make one of these wires and had great success I used all brand new hardware that I purchased a little while ago. It is working great very basic wiring. I'm pretty sure this LCD does not provide video over 480i I think that's pretty much the max resolution I could be wrong on that this wire is designed to Output in 480i or your typical composite video signal. This pinout / schematic can potentially save a lot of money. I have not seen one of those wires alone on eBay it always comes with the screen so if somebody is looking for that wire it could be very costly pretty much what they want to pay for it. Not only that the same schematic can apply to somebody who has an RCA entertainment series Xbox Ready TV which has the proprietary dport input. In order to make this wire you can follow the diagrams exactly. Just make sure you add a few extra feet to the length in between. I know I bought one off Amazon and I think it cost me around 35 with shipping. This wire can be easily made from 2 $5 RCA wires. The schematic itself was made and designed by me maybe that's why it does not look the absolute greatest. I'm more of a Hands-On guy than the computer guy so I apologize but it looks pretty self-explanatory easy-to-follow what you do on one end you want to do on the other end. You should be fine the only concern is the jump wire pin 8 to pin 20... I have found if you only do one of the Xbox connections with this jump that connection has to be the one that's plugged into the Xbox itself. If you hook it up the other way around it will not display. So you can either remember to always plug that one in your Xbox or just make sure you jump both sides on both connectors. In order to not have to worry about that. In any event I hope somebody somewhere can benefit from this schematic took me a couple hours to wire up in a couple hours to make the schematic itself. But if it helps at least one person in the community save money than it was totally worth it 4 wire I just used regular RCA's. I'm guessing if you wanted the best kind of quality on this you can always use Xbox 360 shielded component cable wire since that is a high build grade for sure..for 5.1 audio out just tap into pin #3 ...thank you very much Frank
  20. I'm trying all methods of XBOX modding: softmodding with exploit is learned and understood, later steps will be TSOP (v1.2) and modchip (v1.2/v1.6) but for now I decided to replace the original 10GB Seagate HDD with a 80GB 7200rpm Seagate HDD because the original is reporting below 50% health with Acronis Drive Monitor. I went with XBOXHDM 2.2a because I already had a FAT32 flash drive for booting ISOs, so I just extracted the content, added the entries from menu.lst to my menu.lst, copied eeprom.bin to \eeprom folder and extracted v5960 dashboard files from Clean_C_and_E_Files_for_Xbox.7z to \hdm\C. It couldn't be simpler: Boot Slax, run xboxhd2 from command window (phase 2), run xboxhdm to create C/E/F partitions and autocopy the dashboard, lock the HDD with xboxhd2 again, insert HDD in the XBOX. All was OK until I booted the XBOX and was greeted with error 21. A quick Google search indicated it might be related to missing dashboard files, so I checked the C partition content with a quick hotswap, Windows XP and Xplorer360 beta6, and discovered that the files were copied in the 8.3 DOS naming scheme. For example, the "xboxdashdata.185ead00" folder was copied as "xboxda~1.185", the "XBox Book.xtf" file was copied as "xboxbo~1.xtf" and so on. Deleting all files and dropping them into Xplorer360 again solved the naming problem and the XBOX booted correctly. (EDIT: for some strange reason, partition E had duplicated folders: tdata, udata, TDATA and UDATA) So the question is: Why did Slax/QEMU copied the files in 8.3 format?
  21. Any suggestions as to why this is the case? the path i'm using is on partition F, could that be an issue? Thanks in advance.
  22. Hello everyone, just wanted to say hi. I just got an xbox and can't wait to make it into a full arcade machine.
  23. What's the benefits of being a member of this site?
  24. Hey guys has anyone ever thought of making a new xbox psu like one that has more power and is about the same size but has a few extra molex connectors and such if not that would be a great project to see come out on the og xbox.
  25. New member today, discovered this site via the Facebook group. Gamer for over 35 years, and have most consoles. Have a couple of original Xboxes, one that I want to keep stock and the other to enhance. Hopefully I will be aided by referring to the pages of this site.
