About Me

  1. Hello recently found my old modded oG xbox, dont know what kind of mod it is. Iknow it had Evolution.x(xbmc). So when i click the power button it sounds like it wants to boot up but shuts off. when i click the eject button the xbox turns on goes right to clock setting and it allows me to play disc games on it, i tried a couple discs and the games loaded up fine, however not downloaded games/emulators on hard drive. When i look in the memory i can see saved files of xbox games that are saved on the drive. Took it apart and see there is a blue chip installed, labeled (duo x2). And its blinking red. Not sure if thats my problem. can anyone help. Thanks
  2. Modded one of my spare keyboards to be used exclusively for the XBOX. Would like to document because any search results for XBOX keyboard support would lead to slim and unrelated results. Any practical uses for it aside from typing faster in XBMC4XBOX? Tried homebrew like Half-Life but even that didn't any drivers which I think would have been added since the Playstation 2 port did have full support for USB keyboards. I heard Fantasy Star Online for XBOX supported USB keyboards through an adapter and the Insignia closed beta is conveniently close so I will get to see if my keyboard would work or if the Fantasy Star USB adapter is proprietary. I do know about XDSL and Xebain and it does have plug and play USB drivers but my XBOX is not 128mb or CPU modded so there wouldn't be much to do that I could think off the top of my head. Used a replacement XBOX controller cable I ordered from Aliexpress so no worries about wasting a hard to replace XBOX controller cable. Was my best option actually since the Aliexpress cables where unshielded and not grounded. Also didn't have the AV light gun wire so that would cut many opportunities for controller modding if I used it for any of my broken controllers. 3. This is a long shot since I can't seem to find anything on the subject anywhere. Does anyone know how (website, guide, person, video) to install both the remote dongle and the logitech dongle internally? I remember a long time ago a guide or two on how to do it but can't seem to find anything now. I'm guessing that there's a lag issue for the logitech and maybe there's better newer tech now that corrects that, if lag is a big issue I might just get something newer even if its not internal but the remote dongle to turn the xbox on is a must. Is the lag that bad on the logitech, enough to go back to wired? What do you guys recommend is the best wireless solution with current tech? I would still like to know how to do the mods, hope someone out there knows. Thanks in advance.
  4. Hi, I was wondering about this new dumb newbe question. Do I have to hard mod my original Xbox for me to put in a bigger HD in it? From what I could find on the internet the answer is yes, but I came across other videos that say no. So now I am confused. Also when I soft Mod my xbox the ring not turns green at start up, but when I get the menu it turns yellow? Everything works fine, plays games fine and stuff. Should I be concerned about this? Thanks! -Lockar
  5. Ever wanted to add a new D-pad to your controller? Probably not. But im still gonna show you how. Both methods are on an S-Controller. I haven't tested on a Duke or any other controller. If you wanna try then let me know how it goes. Tools/Materials You'll need for this mod Phillips Head screw driver mini Phillips head screw driver Regular D-pad from an xbox 360 Controller or A Transforming D-pad from a 360 Controller (Depending on which mod you wanna do) Needle Nose pliers or Wire cutters(For method 1) Dremel/Rotory tool Sanding Barrel and cutting disc for your Dremel. and 10-15 minutes of your time. PART A: Disassembly First you'll need to pull apart your controller. there are 7 Phillips head screws on the bottom, 1 is under the barcode sticker in the center. once removed you can pull the bottom part up and remove the internals. Once you have everything stripped from the top half of your shell you'll need your Mini Phillips head screw driver. remove the 2 screws holding your original d-pad in place and pop it out. Part B: Mod Method 1 Now take your new 360 d-pad and look at it . the one on the left is the original S D-pad. right is from the 360. You'll want to remove the locating tab on the right side using your cutting disc. Alternatively you can snap it off with a pair of needle nose pliers or even some wire cutters. Now pop it in and reassemble everything. Your done!! This mod isnt really for the Original colored D-pads (Grey or Black) But once done you can buy many different colored ones for the 360 controller. Great if you plan on painting your controller. Part C: Mod Method 2 First you'll need to pull apart your controller (Refer to Part A) Once taken apart you'll need to take your Dremel with the sanding barrel and remove the internal part of the d-pad mounting location. Go slow and take your time. Don't cut any deeper than whats in the picture. If you cut too deep you will ruin the controller. all you wanna do is cut/sand it down smooth to the cylinder wall.(If that makes sense) Now you'll need to flip your controller over, and put the new D-pad into place. You'll notice the locating pins are preventing it from going in. You'll want to take your cutting disc and cut notches in the Controller so the D-pad can go in. (I cut to vertical slices and then used my screw driver to snap the piece off) Not the cleanest way to do it, but it works. Once the notches are cut you should be able to put everything back together (Using the original Rubber insert for the d-pad) and you are done!! Enjoy your new Transforming D-Pad!
