  1. Want to know where I can source the modchip if I decide to use one? I want to avoid border fees so that is why I want to know if anyone in Canada sells them? Just as a backup plan.
  2. So I modded my old XBOX with the SID 5.11 (I think) and then used FTP to add more old emulator images to make it fun for my grandkids but then the oldest grandkid did "something" clever (I have no idea what wasn't there) and the machine reverted to it's original boot state (unmodded) and I am wanting to get it back to modded again. Any ideas or suggestions on how to do this and I would very much appreciate if someone could point me to instructions on how to build the old SID boot USB that goes with the Mechassault DVD - still got my custom USB cable and DVD but need to build a new SID USB because no idea where the old one went. You'd be making seven grandkids and one grandpa very very happy (Christmas morning level happy) Thank you in advance for any info you can offer me!
  3. No output at all when connected via component, super dark red with scart.
  4. Why does NFS freeze on this xbox and not from the one i ftp over .. what does it need tot boot up?
  5. Growing up as a wee gaming lad, my first home console was the ever cheap PS2 Slim with a PAID demo disc from Circuit City (Shoutout to Jampack Volume 13). Even as I amassed my collection of games, I was envious of the competition from Nintendo, since the funny cube had the cool italian guys, & I didn't. but then there was the Xbox, something that seemed so powerful & complex, I avoided it entirely out of fear & confusion (mostly confusion). However, I had multiple cool uncles who played classics like Halo, Doom 3, & Jedi Knight Academy on their individual Xboxes. Every single time I saw them play these titles, I was floored by their visuals, the gameplay on display, & the fact it was all coming out of this hulking THING that I knew was just better than my PS2 in every way, including physically if my PS2 was forced to do a trust fall with Xbox. Fast forward to the present, & for the past 6-7 months, I've been on an absolute spree on collecting Xbox Classics, controllers, accessories, & multiple Xboxes themselves after learning how varied the modding scene for the Green Box actually is. After spending over a decade completely ignoring the brick that I so deeply admired, the goal is to honor it's legacy by cleaning up any Xbox that I find a good deal for, learn what makes them tick, mod them to smithereens, & of course, play. The true first Xbox doesn't deserve to be forgotten.
  6. Going to upgrading from base HDD at some point, but didn't want to start with SATA drives right out of the gate. Wanted to use otherwise dormant IDE drives out in the wild, & was wondering exactly HOW one would know if a IDE Hard drive supports locking for softmod Xboxes.
  7. I am trying to salvage a busted white duo x2 mod chip for parts for a project im working on. I know the larger square 'duo' chip is a xilinx xc9572xl. but Im not sure what the larger chip is (I believe it is nand?) I am more interested in the square 8 pin chip that has the ic part and serial number sanded off. if anyone knows what the 8pin chip is, please let me know. edit: the 'amd' chip is most likely: 16MBIT PARALLEL FLASH MEMORY 48TSOP / AM29LV160MT-100EI (legacy) or S29AL016J70TFI010 (taken from open xenium)
  8. Hello everyone, Yesterday i was trying to repair my Xbox (wich is a 1.4/1.5, manifactured in 2003), i removed the clock capacitor and everything was fine (i dont care to put the date every time i plug it in) but from point blank it shut down and never came back. when i plug it in it FRAGs and i'm not getting out of this. This is my motherboard : https://imgur.com/a/ZycVKLW i have a modchip installed (not by me, but by someone in the early 2000s), but not a softmod as my xbox read only backups in DVD as far as i know. i made a post on reddit but i had no luck. i tried connecting my HDD to a PC with an adapter and it get recognized by the Devidce Manager but xboxhdm23usb and xplorer360 doesn't seem to detect it and i cant figure out why. i don't care to lose my data, but i just want my xbox back up and running, any suggestion is welcome, but i don't have a EEPROM reader nor a backup and neither a pc with serial port. help me getting this bad boy back to life
  9. So I'm repairing my motherboard after the dvd drive kept ejecting. Unfortunately my mb is a victim of that super capacitor. I removed and cleaned the board however the nearest transistor and resistor to the right corroded off. I managed to solder the transistor back on but I can't find the resistor. Anyone know what the value of that resistor? I tested the traces, so all of that looks good, so I'm guessing that resistor is the trouble maker.
  10. Hi I just stepped into this does anyone have some info about this Controller?
  11. Well a little history behind this dvd drive, my first console was a 1.0 xbox with dvd drive fault(the one who distroy disk) bad power supply and caps disaster, so in the 2010 or 2012 that console decides die frying the nvidia chipset the mpcx3 or something but that was the last time turn on.... anyway the think is the first time that console fail my father take to a repair shop (change the dvd drive) so that dvd drive Has been with me since 2005, so today I disassemble that dvd drive coz It was getting stuck when open or closed the tray plus bad motor belt, so the interesting stuff I found is the dvd drive was hacked or modded with wires soldered inside to specific points I remember read something about that a lot time ago modding lg dvd drivers and flashing a custom firmware in the drive but I dunno if was true or just a random guy on internet, anyway here some pics about that mod also to make work that driver I need grab power from the hdd molex connector The yellow wires end in the dvd conector on the Xbox make work like a original one
  12. is upgrading the hdd the main reason for doing a tsop flash/modchip? will a basic softmod allow me to ftp and install dlc and do basicly everything but upgrade the hdd?
  13. I was trying to transfer games through FTP using FileZilla in Linux Mint 19.3 to my Soft Modded Xbox which has a 1TB WD SATA HDD (model: WD10JPVX). I configured the Xbox Network settings to a maximmum of 5 users and FileZilla to 4. Every time I tried to tranffer a file, the user counter on the Xbox went up to 5 and FileZilla started showing errors. So I booted Windows 10 with FileZilla. Still, had the same problem. Anyway, I deleted a Game Folder (4gb) from the "G" partition. Suddenly the Message Log window started showing a list of errors. When it finish, I went to the "Games" section on the Xbox and there where no games and the "G" partition which is about 800GB (I believe), had only 4GB free. So I though the the partition was corrupted. I decided to go to the format menu on UnleashX and format the "G" partition. After formating, the "G" partition sowed its true size. So I used "WinSCP" instead of FileZilla to transfer the files. Everyhting was good. It did transfer a lot of games, till I got an error: "Copying files to remote side failed. /G/Games/filename* Directory not found. At this point I had 560 GB free in the "G" partition. Someone suggested to do a clean install and wipe the disk. So I followed a youtube tutorial by Mr. Mario. Put the stock HDD back, Hot Swap the 1TB HDD as slave, started Chimp 261812 and it said that the slave hdd (1TB softmodded) was lock. So I tried to unlock the HDD with all the options given by Chimp and it remain lock. The options were: Unlock... From Motherboard From /tmp/eeprom.bin From Master password: XBOXSCENE From Master Password: TEAMASSEMBLY From /tmp/hddkey.txt So I retrieve the Stock HDD and put the 1TB Back in and... now the xbox wont boot. It says: Service required. Call Customer Service. I don't know if the HDD is faulty... I tried to run a test by putting the HDD into my laptop but it ask for a HDD Master Password and tried XBOXSCENE and TEAMASSEMBLY but they were invalid. I don't know what elese to do. Don't know how to unlock it or if its Faulty at this point. Should I buy a 2TB at this point? I don't know which 2TB model would work...
  14. Make yourselves comfy this is kinda a doozy I am totally new to the OGXB modding scene. I recently picked up a Crystal Xbox at a used games store, and the guy there told me that it had been modded and has some emulators. He really doesn't know very much about modding so he couldn't give me a lot of info about what had been done to it, but since it was only $50 I snagged it. He even threw in a free game as well, so I went with the 1st Splinter Cell, (which I knew would come in handy for the Linux exploit if/when I needed to run it) Now that I can dig around in it here's what I DO know: It is a 1.6 XB (kernel 5838) It has EvolutionX 3935 It says the BIOS version is UNKNOWN (not sure if that's just from it having EvolutionX) It is an NTSC model (from Canada I believe? The power supply on the back says 100 V - 127 V ~ 2.1A ... 50/60 HZ) What I DON'T know is: Has it been softmodded or modchipped? (Haven't had time to disassemble it to check, not sure if there is a way to tell without disassembly. However I DID notice that the Linux save file for the SC exploit is already on the console, not sure if that means it has been only been softmodded though) Can I switch from EvolutionX to UnleashX? (just preference, figure it will depend on if it is chipped or only softmodded) AND is there a way to run backups without swapping a HDD? (I do plan to swap it sometime once I have some fun money, the Lock is still Enabled) EDIT: I also don't know about the state of the clock capacitor, being a 1.6 I know I need to check that I also CANNOT go to the MS Xbox Dash from EvolutionX (ERROR 21) RIght now the Xbox works well (although I probably need to replace the rubber band in the disk drive soon because sometimes I have to give it love taps to open) but I really just want to be able to run emulators (which it already does) play backups, and do an HDD swap sooner or later. Since I bought this console already modded in some capacity I just don't know exactly what's been done to it and what I will be able to do since it is a 1.6. Any help is really appreciated
