About Me

  1. HI I just got a new xbox with smartxx v1 or v2 bot sadly it does not wanna boot into smartxx os/ does it hava a os like the opx? can I reflash it to get it back than? Eject and power does boot into evox Gruß
  2. i have a hardmodded og xbox made in 2005 with a upgraded 120g hdd. the hdd is worn down recently and disk error ocuur from time to time. so i want to replace the hdd. i purchased a 120g IDE hdd made in 2000s, but it has never been used. i disconnet the old hdd and connect the new one to my console, drop the hexen 2018 disc into dvd drive, power on the console. it is supposed the hexen will detect the unpartitioned hdd and display something like this but actually, the screen is stuck at this: if i replace this new hdd with the old ones(both the original 8G HDD or the 120G HDD which i have used many years), the hexen UI can appear within 30 seconds, so it is unlikely that the hexen dvd is problematic. So what may be the cause of the stuck scrren when connected with the new HDD?
  3. I've been trying for days but to no avail I need a power supply with 220v input in one with 127v input A delta DSPN-96AP-1 I have seen that they are practically identical to the ones that have turned into DSPN-96AP it does not have the simple jumper Everything else is identical I removed the transformer and made the jumper and I powered with 127v Unfortunately the power supply does not turn on Do you have any advice?
  4. Got my first modded box, latest Rocky5 with UnleashX. Immediately I installed my DLC, which worked fine. I then decided I wanted to try the MS dash on it, tried just downloading the files online and running it (failed, error 16 but didn't cause any issues I could tell.) but then FTPed the Rocky5 extras and installed the dash this way. Then I dualbooted, but I chose 'No' on install UnleashX as second dash, and I didn't find an 'Alt Dashboard' folder. I uninstalled the dualboot and redid it with 'Yes'. Deleted UnleashX .xbe in the Alt folder and copied/renamed the MS dash into there. Dual boot works perfect. However, I popped in some games and all my DLC is nonfunctional. I noticed that in the MS dash memory manager, the DLC appears but the icons have a small green arrow in the corner. Normally this would be a checkmark. I was able to (without uninstalling the DLC) use the DLC installers again and fix all of my DLC. Green checks appear in MS dash now and all is well. I'm just curious if there is a chance somewhere along this line that I unsigned the DLC or something, or if this points to a larger issue that I will have again. I do not plan to do anything further but play games and rip CDs with this console, I just want peace of mind that this is not likely to break itself on its own again. If any of this is confusing, I can try to explain or show some pictures.
  5. A service installed an Aladdin xt modchip into my xbox, works perfectly, the problem I have is that if I press the power button it drops me into the official MS dash, if I hold the power button for 1 sec it takes me to the Slayers custom dash, so I can play anything. I wanted the modchip to be permanently enabled so I dont have to hold every time the power button, so I soldered two joints as shown here: This causes my xbox to turn on as soon as I plug it into the wall, even without pressing the power button, and the xbox can't be turned off. Is it a normal thing? I mean this automatic power on obviously not normal, but that one that I have to hold the power button to enter custom dash, is it normal? Or the service messed up the soldering points with the modchip on the motherboard? I have a 1.6 motherboard I guess.
  6. Just getting back into Xboxes after being out since 03-04. I found 14 cds/DVDs of backups and utilities, emulators and bioses. I built my son one was in clear case remote power on and at the time a huge 160gb hd. With a Xenium Ice chip and programer port.
  7. I don't remember if its an old problem or not, but what I did recently is I soldered on the Aladdin xt2 chip the "BT" to be always on, and its working fine I mean I can play games, responsive and everything, but I can't turn it off, and it starts right away as soon as I plug it into the wall. With the EvoX dash I could manually turn it off, but then I could not turn it on. The button is green, so its not the button. And its an Xbox 1.6 so theorietically the clock capacitor couldn't leak out onto the motherboard and corrode a trace. Also, I found no corrosion on traces, but I only checked the upper side of the motherboard, I dont really know whats on the other side. Any idea? Thanks By the way this is what I did with the aladdin:
  8. I've got 2 XBOX's and one works perfectly and that's the one with a Xenium Ice chip in it, the other has an Aladdin chip I think, I can't recall as it was done about 15 years ago The chip requires that you hold down the power button for about 2 seconds to turn the mod chip on and boot the Xbox to UnleashX. If you don't hold the power button down the screen just goes to no signal and the Xbox doesn't work, it powers on obviously just no signal. If you do hold it down and enable the mod chip the Xbox boots up fine and works well, the only problem is if you do the two trigger / 2 button reboot trick with the M8 bios it does start the reboot process but just goes to a no signal screen. If I go to the option in UnleashX to boot to MSDash it just goes to this same black no signal screen. I tried reinstalling MSDash in case it was a problem with the dashboard, but that made no difference. Does anyone know a solution to this? it's not a big deal but I'd like to resolve it if possible. Thanks in advance.
  9. Do I understand correctly that the processor in og xbox is the same as the BGA part of the slot 1 cpu? If so, using a soldering station, we can, for example, change cpu to a full P3-733mhz 256kb. On a pc, replacing the cache from 128kb to 256 gives an increase in games of 15-30% (if we compare celeron 800/128/100 and p3 800/256/100). Such upgrade does not create speed problems in games. Am i wrong?
  10. So I've just completed my openxenium install along with spi2par2019 / LCD display and Segate 2TB HDD. There are 4 bio on the openxenium which are x2.5035.137 bin, IND-BIOS.5004.67.bin, evox.m8plus.v16.fc.137.bin and Retail Kernel. If I boot with the evox.m8plus.v16.fc.137.bin bios, the console hangs up on the xbox logo and the word microsoft when its trying to load the dash. If I reset the console by ejecting the disc and closing it, it reboots fine striaght into the dash. If I use either x2.5035.137.bin or IND-BIOS.5004.67.bin then console boots straight into the dash from the first time. I tried different HDD, different IDE2SATA adapter both chinese and StarTech ones with all giving the same problem. This leads to believe that the issue is with the evox bios. Any suggestions or idea, should I be using a different evox bios? HDD is formatted with extra G & F partitions, I resized the partions to a smaller size, restarted and then re-partitioned again to the correct size as suggested in a previous post.
  11. i have a prototype game that i want to run on my modded xbox. how do i turn it into a file that will run on it?
  12. Anyone got a good guide on installing LEDs or a cathode tube into an original Xbox? I guess i need to know some good 12v and ground points
  13. I dug my old xbox out of the loft at the weekend and am trying to get it up and running again after a 15 year break! Back in the day I installed an Xecuter chip but this didn't seem to want to work so I binned it and have installed an Aladdin XT Plus2. Box boots up fine but when I try and play some old games they generally run the intros fine, but when they try to go into the actual gameplay it throws up a 'There is a problem - the disc maybe dirty or damaged' message. I'm assuming either the DVD is on the way out or the discs have degraded over time and are no longer playable so want to install a new HDD and ru the games from that. Do have a few questions though..... It's a 1.4 version, boots to a Homer Simpson dashboard and has Evox +3935 in the top left corner Guessing I'll need to flash it with a newer bios to install a larger HDD, is there a step by step guide on how to do this anywhere (I've downloaded a M8+ 67 No DVD bin) SATA drives are much easier to source, do I just need an IDE\SATA adapter and an 40 pin 80 ribbon cable to get this to work (will probably only be 500gb) Not worried about keeping anything off the original drive, so do I just swap the drives over and then use something like Hexen (I've downloaded 2020 version) to format\setup the drive Cheers
  14. For the last year or two I've been working on reversing some of the data structures that have been left unresearched or incomplete by the old scene, not to such a hardcore degree as I would honestly like but off and on when I have the time. This spans from what most people have seen me put out like the Xbox LIVE account stuff but I also have an interest in FATX16/32 structuring, the various configuration/datastore sectors at the beginning of the Xbox hard drive, the 1BL/FBL/2BL/BIOS image structures and data packing, XBE header/certificate data, security, and structuring, and the EEPROM data and structuring - the fundamental data types that make up the Xbox Today I completed the EEPROM data structure - well I say "completed" but there are still some things like flags, bitpacking, and a single unlabeled 16bit value to truly finish up all the info on the data handling side of things - however, structurally I have mapped out all the EEPROM data including the notorious hardware section as well as reversing the XConfigChecksum into something much more legible, portable, and simply more correct than what's been sitting on the XboxLinux/XboxDev wiki's for the last decade and a half I didn't really feel posting something like this on Reddit would be the way to go, the constant Twitter-feed like nature of threads just buries information and I have always preferred forums for their organization - and besides, forums are where I started in modding and forums are what I ran/helped run for many years of my modding life Anyway to my point, if you're interested in the structure and/or (partial for now) handling of EEPROM data then I've posted all the info on my GitHub project. This information can be used to parse, edit, or build an EEPROM image from scratch for any revision of the Xbox (including 1.6 and 1.6b models). I'll likely make a tool for people to create/edit EEPROM images at some point but I've got a couple Xbox projects I've been working on for a while and would like to finish at least one of those before starting another and I'll stuff all this structuring information into a table on the project page soon or maybe edit the XboxDev wiki so it's easier for non-programming people to view and understand at a glance Thanks for reading (also, posting this in the general forum wasn't my first choice but this doesn't really fit into the topic of homebrew - it's more so R&D) This paragraph has nothing to do with the subject of my post but I just wanted to say something personal here. I post this kind of information and put out these various tools and answer these questions that most people don't have an answer to for the sole purpose of bettering or further educating and simply just passing on information I know to the few left in original Xbox scene and even though I might come off as such it's never really been an ego or "clout" thing for me with the original Xbox, I've owned an original Xbox since 2001 and it's purely a passion thing. All I'm really after with this hobby of research and modding of the Xbox is to leave the scene with correct information or at least as correct as I'm able to comprehend and express to others, which I'm sure the old members of the early scene tried to do as well. The reason the original Xbox still lives on is because of sites like this and the handful of people that still hold onto their interest of the original Xbox or their passion of tinkering. Some of you may know my username and others may not, I've seen people mention me as this sort of Xbox "guru" or "expert" and I don't know if I come across as such but I can say, there are many things I don't know, many things I feel I'll never know, and a lot of times I feel like I barely know anything but I know objectively this isn't entirely true because there's a lot I know about the Xbox (and Xbox 360 for that matter) and yet it doesn't stop me from feeling dumb much of the time. Everything I know about computers, the Xbox/Xbox 360, data, structuring, programming, etc. is all self-taught and if you want to learn the type of stuff I know then you absolutely can teach yourself these things and it doesn't necessarily need to be on the software side of things, if you want to know hardware then you can teach yourself that as well - push yourself to learn, you are your best teacher. If you're part of the Xbox scene, whether you're a complete noob or have been around forever, whether we've had good/bad interactions in the past or maybe in the future, know that I appreciate you regardless of your knowledge or "status" and know that I hold no negative feelings towards anyone left in this scene and I probably never will. Not entirely sure why I just wrote this rant but hopefully no one minds, I'm just glad I'm not alone in this hobby of playing around with a 20 year old outdated machine
  15. I'm currently looking into what BIOS images people prefer to use and which ones are more 'universal' than others.. Why? I want to make sure I hold the best compatibility for BIOSes built with Easy-Build.. Currently it uses the 2bl.img and remainder.img from iND BIOS 5001 (Which I use currently) I need to know what Bios Revision, size of ROM and MCPX version if you know it
  16. Hey guys, finally blew the dust off my old v 1.0 hoping to have some fun and meeting new people.
  17. Hey all, Was known as SupaDawgX on the old x-s forums, and am dipping my toes back into the scene. Somehow managed to nuke my old 1.1 Xbox doing a hard drive upgrade (grounded out the power supply on a data/ide board), so now working on getting the x3CE and x3cp working on a 1.0 board.
  18. does anybody no how to get back to game selection menu after playing a game. every time i hold the trigers and back and black button mine goes into the unlesh menu. any help people thanks
  19. Good numbers, maybe worth a shot - https://madtechgiveaways.co.uk/product/microsoft-xbox-series-x-copy/
  20. Upon bootup my xbox goes as far as to displaying the XBOX screen and then freezes there, if I try to eject the tray the screen goes blank and flashes for a moment before bringing back up the XBOX screen. I've received no error and have yet to put in a recovery disc
  21. So currently on the second week of lockdown here in the UK, decided to venture into my attic where amongst the usual junk (12 suitcases) I found 2 ZX Spectrums, a fully boxed sega megadrive and 5 Xboxes! I cant even recall having that many xboxes - brought them down stairs and all appear to be working, one is chipped and one is softmodded so Im going to start and have a tinker with them to make a retro games console for my TV room..be prepared for lots of questions from me as I can recall much about my modding days anymore!
  22. So I TSOPed my Xbox and spent days building my setup, ripping games etc. I got a little too confident and tried to do a ram upgrade and trashed my motherboard. I’m planning to TSOP another Xbox and want to just stick this HDD in it so I can pick up where I left off before the fatal ram upgrade attempt. I’d like to think I had the foresight to keep the drive unlocked but I’m not sure if I did or not. Is there any guidance on how to best accomplish this?
  23. Hey Everyone! Fifa 07 (NTSC US) always crashes during the load screen when the bar is at almost 1/4th. It's pretty much like a hard crash in windows, everything freezes and the sound loops. I downloaded the Game from Arcade Punks. I tried Unleashx and XMBC4Gamers. My xbox is hardmodded Does anyone else have this problem?
  24. My Xbox always gets stuck when the Microsoft logo pops up below the big Xbox logo in the center of the screen. How could I boot into the dashboard? I softmodded it in 2012 and could've easily messed up somewhere. Games and unofficial DVDs work just fine, luckily. Thanks in advance
  25. Hello, My Brother and I Mod chipped an xbox back in the day but I'm just now coming back to original xbox modding. So fair I have soft modded, Tsop flashed EVO F+G, installed a 80pin IDE with a 2TB SATA hard drive, used HEXEN 2019 to set up the new hard drive and partition the HDD with 64bit and splitting the F and G using the included defaults included in the disc partitioner, and am now having trouble FTPing the rest of the games. It started well, I was able to move ruffly 250GB into my games folder in the F drive when the FTP program I am using failed. I was able to move the rest of the games in my "XBOX HDD ready (#-I) [20140930]" folder into the games folder in the G drive. A few games I tested wouldn't play (IE Conker Live and Reloaded) so deleted it and I tried making a "games 2" folder in the F drive and re sent Conker Live and Reloaded. It would not go. My goal for the system is to have the entire collection of OG xbox games, and maybe some emulators. I don't understand why my F drive seems to be limited to 250'ish GB when the Home screen says there is 676,539.13MB free. Any help appreciated. Also, I did try to get a 2TB HDD torrent downloaded from arcade punks that was all ready set to go but after a week in and less then 70GB I gave up, with no upload or download caps. If there is a reasonable torrent that has all the OGxbox games and is plug and play that may solve my problems.
