About Me

  1. I have an OG xbox, I opened up but I didn't see any chip or soldered wire, so I assume my xbox is softmoded. Also I played Splinter Cell and I saw an already existing profile called "Linux", and I saw on videos this is how people softmod their console. So I dont know which one do I have currently, but I would like to install Rocky5's softmod, looks way cooler to me. What if I install Rockys softmod while I already have one installed?
  2. OK, I'll try to be thorough here. I have a 1.2 XBox with an X-B.I.T. It had been stored in my loft for over 10 years. When I attempted to use it, the 120GB IDE HDD had failed. I re-installed my original XBox HDD which I must have also modded back in the day, and everything worked fine. I got a replacement 120GB IDE HDD and set it up as new using FATXplorer with the C and E file from the link mentioned at https://www.hazeno.com/guides/fatxplorer-2tb-preload Now, my XBox will happily boot from any disc that I put in the DVD drive, but when I boot to the UnleashX dash and pop a disc in the DVD tray in order to copy it to F:, the tray shows as Empty. It doesn't matter what disc I put in, it always shows as empty. Subsequently, if I launch the MS Dashboard from UnleashX, when the MS Dash loads I get the standard "Your Xbox can't recognize this disc. Make sure it's an Xbox game, DVD movie, or audio CD. Also check to see if the disc is dirty or damaged. Remove the disc to continue." I have iND 5003.67 and evox M8 Plus 137 flashed in the X-B.I.T.
  3. I recently took a non-functional 1.0 board with 128mb of ram to a shop and asked that they move the extra ram to another working 1.0 board. Upon getting the unit back I'm noticing some unique behavior and most importantly that it won't boot. I do have an Xblast Lite chip connected, D0 goes from the point on the back to the correct location on the chip. The chip is installed with a header. When I boot with the chip connected, I get a reboot twice and then the Flashing Red and Green. When I disconnect the chip from the headers I get two reboots and a Red and Orange light. Anything I should have the installer checking out specifically with the above in mind? It looks like they had some pad lifting issues.
  4. Hello! I have finally just got my XBMC install nearly to where I want it, and want to back it up in this state. What is the most ideal way of doing so? Should I just mount the drive in FatX and save each partition?
  5. Hi all, I’m trying to replace the stock HDD with a 1TB SSD(samsung 870 QVO). I have a 1.6b xbox with an Apple X IV pro. First thing I did was flashing the TSOP bios with 512 kb version of evox bios with forced 480p and no DVD from ogxbox installer 2021. After connecting SSD with 80 pin IDE + startech ide to sata and starting up I see the new boot animation with light blue logo. The DVD however seems to get stuck in some infinite read loop. The old HDD does still boot to the ogbox menu from the DVD. I can also connect and read the ssd with usb connector. Tried to format to exfat and still the same issue. Tried 256 kb Evox bios, same problem. I’m probably missing something obviously or the startech ife to sata is broken. Any pointers are welcome
  6. I'm about to install this spi2par2019 to use with my open xenium. I've soldered a single row pin header to the spi2par2019, can I solder the other side directly to the lcd screen? The reason I'm asking is that I can only see pictures of Rezze doing this while everone else seemed to use wires to connect to the LCD it self!!!!
  7. So i have a 1.6 or 1.6b xbox and i ordered a mod chip to try modding it. i see every time someone mods an xbox that have this board that they use with it. I don't have that board and want to ask if its possible to mod it without it.
  8. So I had a hard modded xbox from long time ago. I followed the steps and got this img to work on that xbox. So i went out and got a none modded one. Installed a OpenXenium following Mr Mario's youtube video. Then i installed the img onto another hard drive and everything worked beside it would not see drive G. So i tried a few things and nothing worked. But now after i get to the flubber screen. It just goes to a black screen and nothing happens. Am i doing something wrong? I am not doing this to resell these consoles. I wanna give them to my brother / uncle who wants one.
  9. Thank you in advance for any and all help provided, I was fortunate to have come across a X3 chip along with a X3 LCD Face plate. But my XBOX is TSOP, I haven't came across on the "how to" remove the TSOP instructions. Is this a possibility? My xbox is a v1.0 or v1.4(not a v1.6) I have ind bios. I don't think I made a backup of my EEPROM when I did the TSOP, not sure if this is relevant to this.
  10. This HDMI mod replaces the AV port completely and offers an HDMI port instead for convenience. The Installed HDMI mod does look like this: The HDMI mod does offer 5.1 sound through the HDMI port. If you don't need 5.1 (or your TV might not support it) you can simply disable 5.1 audio and get digital stereo audio instead. For those who want to add an optical output to there Xbox the HDMI mod does offer 3 solder points to add a TOTX178 optical transmitter. To get the HDMI mod installed you first need to get the AV-port removed. To get it removed you could either use a hot-air station or a heat-gun to remove it at once. But that would put a lot of thermal stress on the board! The better and recommended alternative is to disassemble the Port and remove it one part at a time. First desolder the Metal Tab holding it in place by heating them and prying the metal tab up to pull it out. When the metal tab is removed take a sidecutter and clip off all the pins from the video port as they are what keeps the Port in place. When they are clipped off you can take the port cover off by simply pulling it upwards. Next step is to remove the remaining plastic piece and desolder the rest of the pins and clean up the area a little. Position the first Adapter exactly as show in the photo. The red arrow marks the PTH that has to be alligned centered. Once Positioned solder all the marked points down and make sure they are properly connected before continuing with the second adapter! After soldering all the necessary points insulate the 2 soler points shown in green. A piece of kapton tape works well. You should do this to be sure there's no unwanted connection occuring between the 2 adapter pcbs. Next up is the second adapter. Just position it above the first adapter using the 2 big holes to allign them and solder down the marked points. Again check continuity before continuing with the next PCB! Last PCB is the HDMI mod itself. You need to position it slightly off centered on the second PCB. The HDMI ports pins will be position it correctly. Just solder down the points that are marked with the red arrows and the install is almos done! Last up is setting the Video mode. You need to add 2 small bridges on the bottom side of the PCB. Just solder in the 2 bridges and the video mode is set correctly! If you want to use the optical out you can easily add a toslink port to the HDMI mod by simply soldering a Transmitter to the 3 marked pins.
  11. hi all, i have here an xbox with no harddisk of its own but i had the hdkey, so i built a basic microsoft unmodded dash and locked it with the key. it boots fine no problems at all, now what i want to do is put an 80 gig drive i have in it, and normally (at least before) i have run the softmod then used chimp to migrate to a bigger drive, but i was thinking can i just build an 80 gig softmod drive and lock it with its hardisk key?. that would save messing around with the softmod and swapping drives, i could just build a drive and bung it in, iv'e done it with hardmods before but they had unlocked drives, i know softmods need locking but can i leave out the middle man. if i could take an 80 gig softmod hardisk image i have and lock it to this xbox it would save some time. thanks, aly.
  12. Hi, I am just wondering if anyone with more experience than me can tell me how bad this looks or about any diagnosis clues I can be aware of. The first XBOX I found on ebay last year was surprisingly not modded and I guessed it might be a 1.0. Because of that I didn't want to mod it or open it so I bought another cheap one that had already been opened. I had some fun with that one then I gave it away. In the meantime that 1.0 was calling my name and I bit the bullet and opened it up. Softmod went fine of course. HDD upgrade went fine. Then I wanted to try something more interesting. I looked up the RAM upgrade and it didn't look too bad. That actually went smooth. Luckily the 1.0 is the least work to short circuit the TSOP. So TSOP flash and 128MB RAM was working. I kind of surprised myself. I was fumbling around not really thinking through things and I wanted to see if I could flash an original BIOS back to it. That was the end of the fun for me. After the flash it reboots and goes into the blinking red. I realized the BIOS probably didn't like having 128MB RAM so I used my heat gut to remove my just added RAM. That wasn't it. I knew it I had a big project ahead of me. That was when I found the Open Xenium modchip that apparently is supposed to divert the boot to it's own BIOS. Hence my question in this forum. I didn't see how I was going to remove all that solder from the LPC ports with a solder braid or any other way for that matter. I realized I might be able to use my heat gun again. I had some bad luck and didn't realize how hot I was getting my board in the process either. I almost lost 3 components all together but I managed to get 2 of them back on. I circled the remaining problems in my pictures below. Is any of this repairable? The Open Xenium chip makes it to a red LED but XBOX still only boots to the blinking red lights. I was pretty happy with my soldering of the wire but not so happy with my soldering of the LPC jumpers. The board took some damage. From what the pictures say is this beyond repair? If the Open Xenium chip is making it to a red LED am I close? Thanks all you smart folks!
  13. Hi all, I've recently decided to get back into the Xbox scene again after quite a few years. I'd seen that the OpenXenium modchip was one of the easiest and most up to date chips so I bought one to fit into my 1.6 crystal. I decided on using an LPC board instead of choosing a wired install but I found it really clunky, and was having trouble getting it to boot. I decided, after numerous attempts to get things running, to remove the board and wire up instead. I have checked the joints and checked the board for spatter, removing what I can as and when I come across it. I'm now sitting without any modchip, checking to see if it works as stock again, only to be greeted with a frag. No matter what I've done from here has been the same result Could any of you direct me here and let me know of any possible fix. I've taken pictures of the board. Please let me know if you need any more info. I had to upload them to some image uoad site as the files were too large, so here they are as URLs below. Thanks Images https://ibb.co/09TyX0J https://ibb.co/jMRd4LW
  14. So i have got an xbox revision 1.0 for parts. Inside the motherboard was pretty much immaculate with non-leaked clock cap. Sadly the xbox just FRAGged. I did lots of troubleshooting including dumping the eeprom with raspberry pi, testing it with different psu or trying the TSOP bank split trick for coma console. I thought, that the TSOP must be faulty so i ordered aladdin xt. However the holes on 1.0 are filled with solder and hard to clean up. In the end, i soldered each leg of the pinheader individually. It looks ugly, but there are at least pretty wet solder joints and modchips do fit in it. Sadly it still frags. Images: I have: 1. Grounded the bottom d0 point 2. Grounded BT on the aladdin 3. Tested the aladdin in my 1.6 and then reflashing it with indbios 4. Replaced a R7D4 resistor i accidentally desoldered I also remember, there was possibly a short at Q7R1 part. I fixed it, but two pins next to each other are still shorted according to multimeter. The two pins are those closest to the Q in the Q7R1 marking (left down side on the bottom side picture)
  15. Dear All, Does any of you has already an XBMC4Gamers ready to be ftp to the console, I have tried XBMC4XBOX-33032 which is the latest version of XBMC together with the XBMC4Kids patch, don't if I should call it a patch, FTP it and got lots of errors, is there already a standalone XBMC4Gamers ready to be FTP without the ArtWork etc, like a small package which we can add artwork as we add our collection. Thanks
  16. So, I'd like to be able to retain the original Xbox experience as faithfully as possible, but I also want to acquire some of the otherwise-unobtainable DLC for games like Halo 2 and Ninja Gaiden. Theoretically, would I be able to install a software mod, add the DLC for those games, and then uninstall it? For the record, I do have the actual discs for all of the games I want to play.
  17. Ich brauche Hilfe beim Einbau des xtender. Es soll in eine v1.1 eingebaut werden leider finde ich keine Anleitung alle Links down

  19. I'm back with what I believe is v1.5 installed pin header and placed mod chip on it. When I start it up it starts up as if there is no chip. Seams like something keeping from booting from the chip. Any suggestions or advice?

  22. I finally got the parts for internal mounting of the OGx360, but i am not sure what to do with the reciever. Anyone got good ideas for where to put it internally, and in that case, how to get to the sync button easily? Is external mount best?
  23. I've been trying to install the Rocky5 softmod on a v1.6 and I keep hitting the same wall. I've scoured the forums and tried every suggestion found with no difference and I'm appealing for more ideas/suggestions. Using SC, I load the Linux profile and click the next screen for checkpoints, then screen goes black. There is no response or activity on the XBOX - no sound of drives moving, no change in LED color. I've waited some time and nothing more. - Swapped component and composite cables and 2 different TVs. Tried with component cable and set to "Normal", tried with composite cable - recopied the game save to USB and to XBOX hdd. -confirmed NTSC game version -tried with multiple SC saves (tested game, it works) and with none (original attempts and after deleting test profile) The version of SC will play - I made a new profile and started it, then deleted that profile. I know in advance that I should just put in a mod chip.... walking before I run Thank you Rocky5 for the hard work on the softmod and MrMario for the instructional video that I apparently needed. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
  24. So I got Slayer 2.7 properly running on a DVD-R, but I don't know where to start from . I know some options can ruin the HDD or the XBox so I would need to know what is the correct installation procedure. I have a 120Gb HDD (a compatible Maxtor, according to this list Xbox Hard Drive Compatibility Chart ) that is connected instead of the previous one (that works fine with Evox already running), but I literally don't know what to do once the functions list of the installer appears on screen. For example, I don't know about Kernel compatibility, if the HDD is to be considered as RETAIL or UPGRADE/BIG HD, etc. I'm not completely sure, but I think my consolle is Hard Modded, because I've read somewhere that if the seals have holes around the screws or if the screen flickers a bit then it means it's a hard mode, but again I'm not sure. I don't really want to touch the internal part of the console more than the necessary to check it out (I've been told the modchip is visible somewhere), honestly. Any suggestion from somebody who already installed it?
