About Me

  1. I am new to modding consoles systems and figured since I have some experience with pc's I would try my hand at upgrading my old xbox console. I have a 1.6 version console that was already soft modded with UnleashX and want to upgrade the hdd to an sdd. I have the StarTech IDE to SATA adapter, 80pin wire, the 3.5 to 2.5 cradle and a 1TB T-Force Vulcan Z SSD. I just need the steps on how to do it and to confirm I can use the ssd I have. Just a side note I did not soft mod the console when I bought it used it was already on it.
  2. Hi ! I'm from Italy, i have my Xbox since when i was a kid and now that i have some time i want to bring back to life my old Xbox. It's nice to that the Xbox is still alive !
  3. Hello. I mod and fix older consoles so i joined OGXbox to share and get new experiance. Greetings from Sweden! /Mike 4 XBOX (1 hardmod v1.1 (Xecuter2 with EvoX), 3 TSOPed 1.4/1.5 with Cerbios)
  4. Hi there, New guy here. I just picked up an OG Xbox at a thrift store, and am looking forward to Moding it. My daughter and son are starting a video game interest so naturally it triggered some nostalgia for me. I also have a PS5 and built a gaming computer. Thanks for accepting me!
  5. I just recently received an OG Xbox version 1.6 for my birthday. A friend of mine mentioned this forum to me and suggested I join. The information I have found so far is amazing. I am new to modding, so I have much to learn. The plan right now is to do a deep clean on the console, replace the belt for the CD drive as it is a bit sticky and redo the thermal paste on the CPU and GPU. I look forward to talking with everyone and sorry ahead of time if I ask a dumb question.
  6. I'm a 30 year old retro gamer from NY. He/They is fine. I like retro and modern gaming. Been gaming since the N64, got the gameboy color shortly after, And got the dreamcast at launch, followed by the Gamecube and xbox during their respective holiday seasons. I was mainly an RGB modding guy, but I recently started tinkering with my xbox, softmodded, and caught the bug. Now I plan on hardmodding with Project Stellar
  7. Hello, I'm SylverReZ. I'm a hardware enthusiast, data preservationists and console modder. I enjoy soldering and modding my own consoles for a hobby and I'd love to share my advice and my journey to the world, without gatekeeping it all in one space. This place seems to be reasonably friendly and seeing as I'm contributing to the best community in the world, here's my kudos to you all. https://pronouns.page/@SylverReZ
  8. Hi im new here got my classic xbox recently and i want to experience everything on this console
  9. Hello, I am newcomer for OG XBOX field. I got a OG XBOX console last 2 weeks, actually, that's new experience for me, because I had never play XBOX games in my childhood.
  10. Hi, Sorry should of posted here before asking for help, Hello to all. I have been playing about with a raspberry pi that was given to me at xmas and after a quick play on the retro arcade stuff I decided I need to set up my old xbox.
  11. Hello, nice to have a place to go for OG xbox.
  12. its nice to see the community is still active i was a little worried considering these consels are 20+ years old and i almost lost everything software and hardware in a house fire which is why im here software is not a problem thank god for xbins but rather hardware i need to find some rare parts mostly i was a softmod guy i softmodded countless xboxs and always wanted a mod chip i always found them out of stock or in another country and never could find one then one day i was on facebook marketplace and there it was in my neck of the woods it was a version 1.4 with xecuter 3 ce with the face plate lcd screen / switches and usb ports for a steal of a price 200$ so i bought it no questions asked shut up and take my money its the holy grail of xboxs we all know well remember i said i almost lost everything in a house fire the fire happened two years ago and at that time i slimmed down my xboxs and only had two of them one just a softmod the other the xecuter 3 now let me tell you these xboxs were directly under my 55in flat screen tv and the tv melted all down on the xboxs now im here to tell you that Microsoft built a tank when they built these things because softmod survived i mean the case is junk both power and eject buttons were melted together i had to break the case apart and pull the power/eject pcb board out to turn it on now i have not cleaned the mother board or anything and it functions so i have hope i have not hooked up x3 to see whats up its the holy grail instead i have it pulled apart and trying to clean the mother board and mod chip and try to get it up and going again the switches are really bad one of the switches got so hot that some of the buttons fell off one switch came apart a spring came out but the switch might still work if you act like there is a spring there it will cycle but they are all melted in some way ie the switches now about the lcd screen i have it all pulled apart i might be able to salvage it it had some sort of tint on the out side of the glass witch is easy i just have to find out about what % tint it was but on the other side of the glass screen for illumination there is a white semi transparent film for even and soft illumination and now mine is is wavy like a pice of bacon and that will effect the screens back light illumination so if i can figure out the tint % and a good replacement for the backlight diffuser i think its what it is lol and to replace these switches https://imgbox.com/g/Pl9bJWtgsZ
  13. Hello all! I use to be really into the mods back in the days. I shared a lot of hardware info and came up with a easy to build Eprom reader to get the Hdd KEYS out of the bios chip storage. I recently pulled out 4 Xboxes that I had squirreled away for future projects, I saw this on a YouTube video and thought, wow people are still into modding the old Xbox! Good to meet all of you!
  14. Hi. I was having a clear out and found my old console that I modded around 20years ago. I thought, "You know what, it'd be fun to have another play with it". Just found OGXbox while searching around, so will probably be back for advice since I've forgotten almost everything I knew back then . I did find that I should remove the clock capacitor before powering on, so I'm going to do that first. Hope it's not leaked much. See you all later.
  15. Tried paying the 5$ to avoid this but of well. Paypal doesn't work for me as payment. Oh well. So hello!
  16. Hello. I am Vitor, from Brazil and joined here some days ago. Nice to be here. Cheers.
  17. Just joined. I modded my first xbox around 2004, I'm fairly sure it was an xecutor or an xecutor clone. It fell into disuse for years when TVs stopped actually having any input sockets, but recently I got hold of a Pound HDlink and resurrected it, although it has developed a fault that I'll research on here later. Meantime I was given my nephews old v 1.0 xbox that seems to have a dead hard drive, I'll have a go at resurrecting it with an Aladdin. Thanks for letting me in, I'm sure I will have the odd question or two later.
  18. Hi everyone, I fell in love with the Xbox the moment I unwrapped it Christmas morning in 2003. Its been almost 20 years now and I've got the itch to go back and play some of the old favorites. I currently have a mystery 20$ Ebay special sitting on my table. I can't wait to crack into it and discover what is wrong with it. I'm sure I'll have many questions and appreciate any advice you all have.
  19. Hello there, I'm Jenko, I go by J3nk0J1 on XBL and other platforms. I recently got my hands on a v1.4 Original Xbox and dove right back into modding. My first experience modding was a original xbox as a teenager, nothing like a hotswap. Looking forward to contributing to discussions and sharing where I can.
  20. 21. Hi, I just wanted to present myself. I currently have 5 OGXBOX, 1 which is DEAD (broken motherboard), 1 softmodded, 1 chipped, and 2 TSOPed. Currently trying to standarize all my Xboxes so its easier for me to swap, recover, and install stuff. Thanks for the forum, I'll post some questions later.
  22. Realized a while ago the Xbox is x86 based and figured it would be interesting to reveres engineer it and learn about how the hardware works. I'm looking at creating my own entry point from scratch, whenever I find a console for a reasonable price. I also used to be able to micro solder almost a decade ago, dunno if my hands are still as good. So I could technically write code for what people call a mod chip, if I found a board diagram mostly that would be a key point in prospering as that's going to be hell if I have to document all of the board on my own lol!!!!!! On my bucket list is: * My own entry point * Full optimization of the chipsets. Cpu, Gpu etc * Looking at a potential bare minimum linux build to handle wine mostly to be able to program in linux or windows at that point. That's really about it. I'll probably end up sandboxing xbox software from existence practically, if the hdd is installed I would assume if that works. I'm hoping to inspect the hard drive file system and how the system handles reading the drive and see if I can create a entry point there instead. Initiate everything on run time to take over the console. Probably create a backup of the disc image for upload. I won't know until I get my hands on a console. But attacking how the hdd gets handled might help unlock the whole hdd locked ordeal I've been told of. As for linux and wine I'm hoping depending on how I have to write this someone will fork my work, I plan to export everything to the point a scripting language could register my cpu function optimizations and what not. Handle it a easy way or something. Should be a mater of someone grabbing the disk image and start programming in something much easier like C or something. I have a lot to learn I'm sure!!
  23. Hello at all guy. I am from italy.I have 3 xbox classic and like videogame general. Thanks
  24. Picked up a fairly nice, 1.0 or 1.1 xbox off ebay. Took out clock capacitor, upgraded to 1TB HDD. Honestly really considering hard modding so I can unlock the HDD and put it onto USB for transfer, the FTP is painfully slow with all the many small files from game transfers.
