Hello everyone. Long time collector of retro consoles and games. I guess Xbox has always been my favorite as I have nearly a complete US collection. Just love everything about the original system and hope to try my hand at modding my first unit.

Hi! So I teach computer science at a local university. My 11 yo son and I are having a blast collecting and restoring old consoles. I'm here to learn as much as I can concerning modding an original xbox. What a great old console!

Hi Everyone, A few weeks ago I found my old XBOX that I modded like 10 years ago or so. I is quite substantially modded (VGA-connector at the back, internal WIFI-bridge laptop dvd-drive, 2.5" sata drive, fans, front-usb), but I do not remember how I did it (what softmod, did I do TSOP-flash...) So after finding the box I wanted to try if it still works. there were some casing-parts missing (top cover and the two trays of the DVD and HDD) but the essentials were still there. I connected it via VGA to a LCD-screen, booted aaaand: error 21. then I remembered the DIP-switch on the back to choose the video-mode, changed the setting and rebooted. This could have been the success and I would not write this lines here. But then the HDD slid down from its temporary (badly chosen) position and touched the internals of the power-supply... instant-BOOM and all lights off . Strangely this brought back my interest in the xbox. I tried to repair the power-supply, then bought a new xbox of the same revision, reassembled mine with the new parts ( now also with top case and dvd/hdd-tray ). now its all working again but I am interested and motivated to learn whats the current state of development for the ogXBOX. Hello, I'm trying to get my old modded xbox working. Back in the day I was big into it, but I damaged the board messing with led's and eventually moved onto the pc world. I picked up another xbox from ebay and put my old modchip and my old 250gb hd in, but it's only showing 5gb and none of the games are showing up, so I'm hoping I can flash some new software on it and get it working again. I've been out of the loop on xbox mods for over 10 years, but everyone says hexen will have the software I need, so here I am

had this upgraded back in the early 00's I want to start using it again , wanted to know whats the native format for the games is it just an upscale in the box to 1080i ? as I want to use an external scalar, whats the software I need to run now and can I easily transfer games and what is the limit on hd if I fit a new one , is there a site for roms if any one can help id appreciate it im looking for the ultimate setup once again

just found an xbox at the good will for $7. I was really hopping it was not going to turn on so i could just use it as a computer case. But as luck would have it, she powers on and works like a dream. so here i am, trying to figure out this mod and hopefully get some new friends.

Hi decided i should make a small presentation. Im Ben, im 24 years old I live in Quebec Canada. i started modding about a year ago and it quickly became a passion. always loved the og but i think its really this group that help me and pushed me to dive deeper in the modding and collecting sceen. I have two professional diploma Electricity and car bodywork. i guess that give me a good base for modding. Im here mainly to keep on learning and share my creation with you guys. also im looking to full set the og and get some rare console in the process. Here is my lastest project its not finish yet ill probably repair and paint the case and do a printed window mod maybe add and hdmi port too on this i wish you a good day and im looking foward to speak with other people that love the og as much or even more then i do

hi everyone , have just back into original xbox again ,modded my first xbox last week all going well so far.

My experience with the original xbox goes back to early after launch. My first one died a horrible death after many stuggles with the xenium ice modchip Looking back I'm sure I was more at fault than the chip. My second one (softmodded) is in the living room hooked up to a hdtv. My third one (softmodded) is hooked up to a sony tube tv and my forth is sitting across the room on a table awaiting the next mod project .I'm glad i found this place because you guys are an invaluable source of knowlege. thanks and best wishes.

Tried to download C-Xbox Tool and saw I needed 3 posts to do so, might as well make an intro post. I've had an OG Xbox since about a year after it originally came out, I still get enjoyment from the old games. Hopefully I'll be sticking around, even after the 3 posts I need.

Hello! I started out driving an hour each way to have some guy mod my original xbox back in the day. I gave that guy so much business just showing off to friends. Soon as softmodding became a thing I started doing that myself realizing that the original guy was somewhat of a twit. I had not played an og system in some time and was delighfully shocked to find an awesome community alive and ticking. Great time to get back into it!

After a break I dusted off the old Xbox, did a little digging found coin-ops and a few other things that are new since my time. And all the sudden I'm back, I was around in the Xbox-scene days from very early on. I800phyco there. Then when I come back and decide I need to upgrade my Ram and get a better processor, the old standby is shuttered long ago, so here I am

Hello Everyone ! First off let me thank all of the moderators and the creator of this forum for all the work. Starting with and not limited to the domain name efforts, uploads, ftp nightmares in the evenings etc. I feel your pain and joy. I'm very new to this xbox modding thing, matter of fact I just pulled my original v 1.1 box out of its backpack that hasn't been opened since 2002. Anyway, just a hello and a couple images i did this morning that I would like to share.. I'll be working on more as i progress and learn more about the file structure and where things go. I have several ??'s which I'll locate the proper place for these.

Fantastic to find this group! I have a modded 1.6 crystal xbox with a a 300Gb (BIG in the day) HDD.) The drive has eaten itself and I am keen to get back to messing with hardware and upgrading to the latest emulators etc. Thanks for maintaining this excellent resource and look forward to helping out whenever I can.
