About Me

  1. I have a v1.0 original modded Xbox, it had an old Aladdin mod chip, I wanted to upgrade the hard drive and after doing some research I found out I can brick it by flashing a new bios. The bios is unknown but after running bios checker it reads I have a lpc sst49lf020, it boots up xecuter2 into an evolution x dashboard. If I use the hexen 2019 disc, what steps can I take after I install a larger hdd? I don’t need to clone it, I backed up everything using ftp, and I want a fresh install. Here are some images that may help... Thanks for your time.
  2. Hello, I came across this site while searching for solutions to my problem. I was attempting to upgrade my XBOX HDD to a 1 TB WD SATA drive that is listed as lockable. I followed Mr. Mario's tutorial on Youtube to a T, and it appeared to be successful, however upon powering up with the new HDD in place of the old I get error 07 and on occasion 09. When going back and attempting to use Chimp to re-clone the original HDD to the new drive, the new drive cannot be altered due to it being locked. Attempts to unlock the HDD via the Unlock Slave Drive menu in Chimp do not work, all of which lead to the same screen referencing the password from the motherboard, but changing nothing. How do I unlock this drive? And yes, I have the jumpers currently set to slave, and had them set to master when I attempted to utilize it as the master HDD. Any help is appreciated.
  3. So I have a 1.0 with a dead HDD, I used PiPROM to recover the eeprom.bin so I can build a new drive. Is there a tutorial somewhere on adding a softmod directly to the new drive before I lock it?
  4. Hi folks, Am a very newbie lol , I bought an original Xbox soft modded (0.38.0515A Build 565) . Worked fine for few days, but now 95% of the time when i boot it up I can hear the click of death... CLICK CLIcK ... the Hard drive is dying and it stays in the boot screen. Every-time i try to read/write from the hard drive (FTP) it starts clicking and I can't do anything and sometimes a screen with error 09 appears. I learned from searching on google ,that I need a HDD key to replace the hard drive before it dies completely , so I managed to copy it from the UnleachX info screen ( HDD key + Serial number ). Is it possible to replace the hard drive ? Is there any hope ? PS: I do not have any soldering tools/skills and sorry for my English. Thank you in advance
  5. Trying to upgrade my HDD to 1TB on a 1.4 soft modded Xbox. The 1TB drive is 2.5" when I clone the drive with chimp should I plug in the molex splitter to power the adapter or can I simply just use he adapter without a y molex splitter. Just tried to clone with chimp without the y molex splitter and said couldn't lock the hdd
  6. Hi, I'm new on modding OG Xbox 1.0 and after a few days reading over the net I found this thread https://www.ogxbox.com/forums/index.php?/topic/1474-identify-mod-chip/ I think it's similar to mine The problem that I have is that my HDD dies a week ago showing error 07, then I found an IDE Segate ST3802110A (80 GB), check compatibility here https://xboxdrives.x-pec.com/?p=list, from an old PC and I have also burn a DVD -R with HeXEn 2018 that I found in this forum, but when I turn on with a long press it does't read the disc and only get the error 16. I never before saw the mod chip dashboard because when I get the Xbox in 2002 they told me the mod chip only works to read non original games if I long press the power button until the led becomes red, so I don't know which version of mod chip or bios I have thats why I can't replace my HDD. After I can replace my HDD i would like to update my modchip bios and install a newest dashboard for making mi Xbox to a emulator media and take advantage of this 80 GB HDD. Thanks for your help
  7. i got a 3tb seagate barracuda 5400rpm drive for my xbox. after loading it with games it became pretty sluggish to load things. games ran great when they finally loaded, though. i wanted something quiet and i know the 7200rpm wd drives can be noisey. has anyone else tried both a 5400rpm and 7200rpm to see what the difference is with speed and noise?
  8. i have 2 or 3 dead xbox's and i want to see what is on the hdd's. is there anyway to unlock them with another chipped system?
  9. Kink43

    Hdd Key.

Hi. I'm a noob so may not be talking alot of sense. Go easy on me. I get the impression HDD is coded. And can be nulled when softmodding, but the code is not mentioned in mod chip tutorials. I am going to fit aladin xt modchip when it arrives. And replace HDD. I would like to use the dual functionality to boot stock dash board. And hold power for 1sec to use modchip. I just wondered whether in this case will the larger HDD be usable when booting up stock?
  10. Hey Guys I'm looking to upgrade my HDD on my xbox to a 2TB. So I wanted to find out what my best option would be. I'm looking at buying Western Digital Blue 2TB (5400RPM) - Very good price Western Digital Purple 2TB (5400RPM) - Only a little more expensive than the Blue but has better reliability over longer periods as it is a surveillance drive, or Western Digital Black 2TB (7200RPM) - Much more expensive than the Blue, however I'm not sure my loading times will be worth the cost? Thanks in advance
  11. Hi, I'm trying to help out a long-distance friend to get their untouched xbox working again. Absolutely no reaction to power on, probably faulty power board, power cable, or maybe the clock capacitor problem. As the xbox is untouched, there's no backup of the HDD and save files are important for nostalgic reasons as well as the ability to replace the HDD in case of failure. The most efficient way is a softmod and backup of eeprom.bin and copying the save files. To get there, you have to go through quite some steps to softmod and access your xbox through FTP. (Doable, probably even easier than what I'm trying to suggest) If modding is not going to happen any time soon, I was wondering if it's possible to make a clone of the HDD by using GhostImage or some other imaging tool to backup the enitre HDD. Would rewriting this image to a new HDD (possibly bigger) make the new HDD work directly as intended? I don't think his PC can host IDE drives anyway, but I was just wondering if this would work.
  12. Since I moved over to Windows 7 64bit a long time ago now there's been one problem I've had with using Xplorer360 that has never made sense to me. Why does it see FATX formatted flash drives and display their content but the when you try to use an unlocked FATX HDD it always reports as no FATX device found. On my now deceased Windows XP SP3 32bit laptop it did work but was always a bit iffy. The solution is actually hinted at by that but in all those years of using Windows 7 I'd not come across any mention of this problem in any discussion of Xplorer360. There are even posts from a respected Xbox guru (no name) who states categorically that Windows 7 with Xplorer360 will not see any FATX device >4GB. It is not wrong because, clearly it doesn't but no mention is made that even using Windows 7 you can get it to see your unlocked FATX HDDs. I spent half the morning today just trying to get my FATX HDD to be seen by Windows and that in itself is difficult enough. A simple IDE > USB cable (+power of course) just didn't work for me. But a dual IDE/SATA external enclosure did after several reboots and cable changes. But Windows 7 64bit > Control Panel > System and Security > Administrative Tools > Computer Management > Storage Devices still reported it as an uninitialized USB Mass Storage device with unallocated space. You do need to right mouse click the left hand panel of the HDD volume shown and use the initialize option provided but, obviously, do nothing else. But even then Xplorer360 thwarts you by not see what you know is an attached, Windows recognised, unlocked FATX formatted HDD. I was on the point of giving up and just happened upon this forum post from 2009 (hope it is OK to post this) :- https://www.se7ensins.com/forums/threads/getting-hdds-to-show-up-in-xplorer360-if-you-have-fatx-error-look-here.92832/ The answer is frustratingly simple: Run Xplorer360 in Windows XP SP2 compatibility mode. Depending on your default status you may need use the run as administrator option too. The other stuff in that thread is mostly just about using the most up to date version of Xplorer360 and the DLL missing from Windows 7 installations it needs. If you're using Xplorer360 successfully already with flash drives then it is irrelevant. My feeling is that any trouble you may still have will be down to the hardware used in connecting the FATX formatted HDD to the PC. The HDD must be recognised by Windows as an attached Mass Storage device but it may only display in the system tray as an USB to ATA/ATAPI bridge if it is in an external housing. Unlike FATX flash drives it appears it will not be shown in the Computer/My Computer overview screen at all either. But Xplorer360 will still see it and display the content. Whether the same solution will work for Windows 10 I don't know yet but definitely worth trying compatibility mode for WinXP SP2 whatever Windows version you're using.
  13. I don't see any reasons why it shouldn't but I was thinking about buying one
  14. As I mentioned in another thread here I recently bought a 'for parts' Xbox which is giving error 16 but the seller also included another retail HDD, almost certainly not softmodded, which is giving error 6. Pretty sure it did not come from the same Xbox so obviously locked with an unknown eeprom on another Xbox which again, obviously, I do not have. Not likely being softmodded means no master password use possible either. I've looked into methods of unlocking it and either here or on another forum somebody mentioned there are Windows programs that can do this. I'm not bothered about the content just interested in finding out if it can be unlocked preferably, via a USB connection. Any recommendations/suggestions welcome.
  15. Yesterday I ftp'd Conker Live and Reloaded to my Xbox v.1.0 , however the game doesn't boot up, instead it displays a message saying: "there is a problem with your disc, it may be damaged or dirty". I tried patching the game with ACL in DVD2Xbox but nothing happens, I still get the same error. Is there something more I'm not taking in account?
  16. Hi all, I have an X3 with a 1TB inside. I formatted and prepped it with the SLayers Hybrid installer. I am getting errors while trying to delete from it, write to it. Certainly the F and G partitions. Ive tried to format it with Xbox Partitioner 1.3 and that shows drive G as "ER" instead of 64 (Clusters). The split is roughly 130G and 880G. It seems just be cartain sections of the disc that are effected, as I have just copied over 30GB no problem. ANy ideas on how to proceed?
  17. Is it possible on a softmoded Xbox put an HDD larger than 120GB? If it is, how? Is it the same process as for the 120GB? Thanks
  18. Is there a tool to achieve this? I'm upgrading the HDD in my Xbox, and after the initial formatting I would like to load it with data from another PC using a sata connection instead of transferring over the network. I understand the Xbox formatted drive is a format Windows does not natively like, but is there a tool or Linux equivalent so I can mount the drive outside of the Xbox? Thanks again,
  19. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cyfbxuMgI4M&t=480sHello everyone! First post, and happy to be here. I want to share something that will add value to the community. I've put together a video tutorial on how you can install games directly to the XBOX HDD through the internet and FTP. All you'll need is your softmodded XBOX, an Ethernet cable, and the HDD Ready games you want on the HDD. You'll be up and running with it in no time. Full how-to video is below. Please let me know if this video helps you so that I can make XBOX content that makes your gaming experience more enjoyable. Thanks, Blaine https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cyfbxuMgI4M&t=480s
  20. Hello, I've an OG xbox that I am gradually adding more and more mods to. So far I've softmodded it and also refreshed the thermal paste on the CPU and GPU. My next plan is to flash the TSOP using Hexen, and then replace the HDD. The question is, SSD or HDD? I'll be using a cheap eBay IDE to SATA adaptor, plus an 80 wire IDE cable. My choice is between a 120 GB SSD, or a 500 GB HDD. These are both pretty much the same price. Would there be any notable difference in using the SSD? I'm probably not going to load too many games, but want to essentially load up the 'best of' xbox and then fill the rest of the space with emulators. Thanks,
  21. Hallo, I have a softmod xbox 1.6,and want to Upgrade HDD that is full with xbox gam.es emus, how can i do without formating the hdd. The hhd is from another xbox with Chip. Thank You, and sorry for My Bad english
  22. Hi Guys So I've searching around the internet to find an answer, hoping you guys can shed some light on it. I'm looking to upgrade my Xbox with a 3TB HDD. Now I know this will give the F and G partitions the make 1TB size each. Now I've been searching around and was wondering if you could give the remaining space to the E partition? According to this forum: https://www.xbmc4xbox.org.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7353 Rocky5 said as long as your Xbox is soft or hard modded, the kernel will be patched to run any partition size, as long as you don't mess with the C partition. Someone has increased his E partition to 10GB and it worked, but I want to put it into the 500GB + range. Please let me know what you guys think?
  23. I have Original Xbox, I had it since it was released... recently I powered it up, HDD keeps on spinning like crazy and never stops. I got the green screen with "contact support". I pulled the HDD 20GB and tried to connect it to my desktop, the HDD spins with none stop, and the drive was not shown/recognized by my PC. I am not sure if I install a new IDE HDD would work/boot. I searched for Xbox OS/dashboard to download so that I can install on the new HDD, it seems that I only need to install the HDD, and the Xbox will load from the build-in eprom/chip. Please correct me if I understood wrong
  24. On one of my xboxs the molex coord doesn't power up HDD's I've been able to get the Xbox running by powering the HDD by using the molex connector from another Xbox to power up the HDD. Any idea on how to fix this?
  25. Hi, Love this forum and got a lot of great info from here. Recently I dusted of my good old softmod and gave this all a go again after many years. I was able to tsop the xbox and install a larger harddisk. My friends picked up on the idea of having a xbox with emustation and asked me to build one for them as well. So I ended up buying and working on 6 xboxes and harddrives that all went trough their own struggle to get the job done but hey, I made it. Thing is though, at some point I used chimp to format a 500gb WD and it locked it by the end of the session in one of the xboxes. this drive ended up not being used and now I want to use it again but I do not know what xbox it's from. Being all wel prepped I did read all the eeproms from al the xboxes trough simple serial eeprom reader. Extracted them straight of the board with no issues but the sidenote is I never did with this 500gb WD hdd installed. And this is where my confusion is, because what I understand is the eeprom is xbox specific. And the harddrive password is generated trough the hdd serial number and model based on the eeprom. (Please correct me if I'm wrong). So all the eeproms I have when I read them in live info beta 3 show me other harddrives. So I connected the harddrive to my ide port refreshed the disk managment, it pops up under disk# and I try to select it in live info without any luck. I tried running chimp in order to unlock the hdd in the slave disk options with all the available eeproms but had no luck. Basically, and I'm sorry this is a long read, I'm trying to find a way to backwards engineer my hdd locking code with the 6 eeproms I have available that all state a different make/brand/sn hdd. Thank you in advance Pascal
