About Me

  1. Are there any Xbox games that are cross platform but the Xbox version is the best version or just as good as the other versions like how Half-Life 2 for Xbox is basically just the pc version but lower res and only 30 fps but other than that it just like playing the pc version?
  2. I'm running the Rocky softmod 1.1.6. I'm currently having issues running games in NTSC rather than my native PAL region. (Doing this for hd resolution) I have been running games in NTSC mode by doing the following: Going to video settings enabling 480p,720p and 1080i modes then saving these settings. I'll then go to whichever installed game I want to play, hit select and opt to run it in NTSC mode. Very small amount of installed games have worked, but more often than not they will freeze at the loading screen and I will be forced to power off. This then brings up error code 11 when I try reboot, which seems to be caused by the Xbox trying to reboot in NTSC. Fix for this I found is to switch it off again, and turn off its power source for 10 mins. Any ideas if I'm doing something wrong here?
  3. Hi guys, I recently discovered all the cool stuff everyone has done on the og xbox. So Ive tried to join in. I formatted the 1TB drive and used indbios4.67 on a a hard mod old aladdin advance chip. Used boxexplorer 1.3 and had working on unleashx, but now f: drive is gone. I ftp games possibly more than 120gig. The f drive was setup to 920gb or what was left at 64 no ER, I followed a 2tb video on youtube to get full drive showing. When i open boxexplorer its still there. Does anyone know what might fix it ? Should I reformat and speard to g drive ? Any help is appreciated.
  4. I'm running into an issue where just the following 4 NTSC USA games won't load on original firmware from retail disc (get stuck at the Xbox logo + Microsoft text after putting in the disc), or from hard disk via ISO or extracted files (just go to a black screen where even IGR won't work): Chicken Little Shellshock: Nam '67 Without Warning The Suffering: Ties That Bind I'm positive that these are good discs (used for the tests I've run on original firmware) and ISOs that I've ripped / converted myself and validated against Redump hashes (for the ISO loading failures). Full details on the setup and things I've tested follow: I've got an NTSC 1.2 Xbox, upgraded to a 2TB drive, using the recommended ~937 GB F/G configuration with 64 KB clusters on those partitions, on a StarTech adapter. The drive has been locked, so I can still use stock firmware. Clock capacitor has been removed (and clock time set), and the 5 largest capacitors (3 for CPU / GPU and the two large ones on the lower left / right of the board) have been replaced. An original Xenium chip is installed on firmware 2.3.1, with banks flashed for both EvoX M8+ (modded with EvoTool to add LBA48 support), and iND 5003 (the recent modified version with re-enabled XBL and reboot fix). Using 480i composite video out. The Language is set correctly in the MS dashboard to English, which should work with these 4 games. I've got the proper files in place to allow ISO mounting, and all my games are installed via this process: Dump disc with a Kreon firmware SH-D163B drive to full ISO Validate the CRC matches the Redump CRC (so I'm sure I have a known good dump and the disc isn't the problem) Extract the files from the Redump format ISO with Xbox Image Browser 2.9 build 0350 Use Qwix to turn the extracted files back into an XISO compatible for hard drive loading Split the XISO, if over 4GB, at 4292870144 bytes into two pieces, and name them gamename.1.iso / gamename.2.iso Throw the ISO into F or G, and run the XBMC4Gamers ISO prep script to put them into a unique subfolder, as well as extract the thumbnail and game name and put them into the launcher XBE that actually mounts the disc files and plays them. This gives me 2 ways to launch my games: I can either launch the ISO from XBMC4Gamers, or I can boot into the Xenium menu with the eject button, choose to launch the stock TSOP, boot into the original dashboard, then put the original disc in and play without any mods whatsoever. I have hundreds of games working perfectly this way, but those 4 games won't boot on this Xbox, no matter what I do. If I try to launch them through the ISO loading method from XBMC4Gamers the screen just goes black, then stays black indefinitely. IGR no longer works, and I have to hard power down the Xbox. (The same thing is true if I extract the files to F:\games and try to run the default.xbe.) If I try to launch them by booting into the original firmware on TSOP, waiting for the original dashboard to load, then putting the original disc in the tray, the Xbox changes to the Xbox logo screen, with "Microsoft" below the Xbox logo (aka "I've recognized a legit game and I'm loading it"), and then just stays on that screen forever, without actually starting the game. The only thing that will break out of that is ejecting the disc, which takes me back to the dashboard, or powering off. I've tried clearing the cache drives before loading these. I've also tried deleting the TDATA and UDATA for those games (as well as backing up all of E and wiping it clean). This has me stumped, because: I know the discs are good (dumping with a Kreon matches 100% to the Redump ISO as validated by hashes, plus 3 of the 4 look factory new) I know the disc drive can read games fine, as it can load any other original disc I throw at This doesn't appear to be a copy protection thing, because it happens equally when running EvoX M8+ / iND 5003 and loading an ISO or with stock firmware and loading the original disc, and when loading the original disc, we don't even get past the point where the Xbox logo / Microsoft text beneath it leave the screen to hand control over to the game. I know the Xbox is reading the disc, because if I boot into modded, rename E:\TDATA and E:\UDATA to E:\TDATAold and E:\UDATAold, clear cache drives, then shutdown, boot into stock firmware, put the disc in, let the system hang at the Xbox / Microsoft logo, eject the disc to return to the MS dashboard, and then check the Memory tab, the only entry there (as expected) is the one entry for the game I tried to boot, with its correct picture. I can't find any reports on the restored xboxscene forums, here, or reddit claiming that those games had issues booting for anyone else (though they're niche titles, so maybe no one has tried and bothered to post they don't work?), or any sort of Wikipedia article or the like talking about the games with a section mentioning they have issues loading on certain versions of Xboxes, etc. So in lack of that, it makes me think they should work and there's something else I'm missing. Any thoughts as to why these and just these 4 games don't work, either through ISO loading, extraction to hard disk, or known good retail disk on retail firmware would be really appreciated - I'm stumped!
  5. I recently acquired and old Xbox 1.1 with a a hard drive and disk drive both dead. It came with Aladdin XT2, so i switched the old hard drive to a new 80GB one and managed to install a new dashboard using an old computer disk drive i had laying around. Everything seemed to work fine and the console booted with Unleash X, but almost all games i tried installing on it's hard drive won't work. Dashboard tries to launch them, but the console simply resets to it's main dashboard. Not all games failed thought, 4x4 Evolution 2 and AMF Extreme Bowling started and worked fine without problems, but this is more of an exception than rule. It's weird, cause all emulators worked, and i was able to play Quake 1, 2 and 3 homebrew ports with no problems at all. Can someone please help me? Thank you!
  6. Week or so back I was doing some testing with various dashupdate.xbe files extracted from some early Xbox LIVE enabled games (Xbox LIVE enabled games were always shipped with a dashboard updater) and ended up finding quite a few different dashboard/online dashboard revisions that I haven't seen listed anywhere, which got me curious about how many dashboard revisions were actually pushed out (on disc, can't exactly know which were pushed over Xbox LIVE anymore) I was looking for a list of Xbox LIVE enabled games and was surprised that couldn't find one anywhere. There are plenty of lists for Xbox games but none seemed to note whether a game supported any Xbox LIVE functionality or not, so before I could look more into the dashboard updaters I had to make a list of games that actually contain them While it's not exactly the most useful list to have anymore, I still think it's something worth archiving and I'm posting this thread to see if others would be interested in helping Personal spreadsheet (my personal working doc, read-only to public) Public spreadsheet (public doc, anyone is free to add to it or edit it) References I've used building this list: Xbox.com (archived, for game XBL feature list) Wikipedia (for initial release dates) mobygames.com (for release dates and back covers with feature list) xboxaddict.com (for release dates and back covers with feature list) gamespy.com (for release dates, sometimes features list) gamescanner.org (archived, back covers with feature list) xbmcxbox blog (grabbed list of games that all contain an uninteresting dashboard revision) ebay.com (back covers with feature list, more useful than you might think) Whether people help or not is up to them but I'll continue to flush out the list. If you want to post the name of a game in this thread that you know has some kind of Xbox LIVE functionality and isn't already on this list then that's fine too
  7. It was a long time ago that I played this game (when I was around 7) so sorry if I can't recall the details or much of the information I'm about to give. Basically there's this 3rd person shooter for the OG Xbox that is very similar to Conker: live and reloaded or Fur Fighters but it's a bit more brighter and colorful. The characters were chibi-like and the gameplay was a team deathmatch and you could play in various maps; the couple I can remember were in a bathroom and the players were very small, another one was in like a circus but for this one I'm not very sure. Thanks for helping and I'm looking forward to the responses.
  8. How do you use the PC games option in the unleased dashboard? If your telling me i can get PC based games on my Xbox imma go dig out Soul Reaver for PC and get jammin!
  9. So when i got this console there were some games already on the drive and I could access and play them from the dashboard. Well when I updated to xbmc4gamers they were not being detected and i could not find their location on any partition. The available space on all the drives has not changed at all so it makes me feel like they are still there somewhere. I went into dvd2xbox and found all the games there and it said they were located in drive F. But in any file explorer srive F was empty. I tried to launch the titlea from dvd2xbox but keeps bringing me back to my dashboard. Any thoughts?
  10. Sadly many promising games get's cancelled and thankfully some of them leaks out on the internet. I haven't found many for the ogxbox sadly, so I wonder what cancelled leaks exists out there known to the public? Those I know of is: Kameo (Cancelled for the OGXbox, released for the 360) Starcraft Ghost Project velocity Diddi kong racing adventure
  11. I've noticed many games for the XBox like Otogi, Forza Motorsport, Amped and so on are really difficult (somebody also says Ninja Gaiden Black, but I haven't tried it). Despite their quality in graphics and sounds, they're actually frustrating to play for those like me who just want to have some fun (or can't spend their whole intellectual energy). So, what are some good games, not necessarily hyped in graphics, even "mediocre" or average ones which are actually fun to play ? I mean games with a balanced difficulty and normal gameplay, something you shouldn't spend your whole life in it, something that doesn't leave a feeling of frustration, something that really made you say "wow this was fun" after you finished it, something that you can actually finish (lol, because some of those games require entire months to be finished)... know any worthy of being mentioned ? Like somebody else said " gaming is about fun, if it's fun no more then I should be paid for playing them "... you got the paradox, right ? you know, some games you shouldn't devote your life to but just.. play, you know especially from this list, as I'm interested in xbox-only games (games which aren't for PC or PS2/GC) Category:Xbox-only games - Wikipedia
  12. I have setup the PSX emulator using Rocky5 xbmc-emustation. All the games play great except 4 player games. I can use any controller to select the game I want to play, but once in the game only P1 & P2 work? I can exit to PSX menu pressing down on the Analog stick on all 4 controllers but only player one can move in that menu. this is a 4 player game “ chefs love shack“ but P3 & P4 don’t respond until I quit the game. this only happens in PSX please advice
  13. I'm looking for Amped 2 Savegames, preferably one with a male character and obviously 100% complete. The only one that seems to work from this page https://downloads.diodematrix.com/homebrew/warchives/xbox-saves/ is unfortunely a female character, and you can't change it in career mode. All the other saves for NTSC US seem not to work, or they're weirdly zipped so I don't know how to install them. Even those on Gamefaqs are broken, the boarder doesn't load in first screen. Can anybody help ? Thanks, I just need the 4d530041 from UDATA and TDATA of a male character which I can customize in career mode, preferably 100% complete Oh, also the trainers are really messed up. They can "brick" the whole save and they should be coded more properly (examples: the characters does weird things, or the game gets stucked at board stats menu as it's not possible to quit that menu ). Please revise them if anybody can
  14. Hi, I have a hard modded OpenXenium chip with a 1 TB WD Blue HDD. I have everything set up and I am trying to get more than 200 GB - with more than > 200 GB left on a partition. Filezilla is not letting me do that. I am just trying to transfer the titles. They are all HDD ready for transfer but they do not go through at a certain point. They all become failed transfers. The bios I am using is unleashed x from the OGXBOX installer. It was not flashed by the program but was transferred by my network. It is a CEE bios. I switch dashboard sometimes. The only one that I have on there that is not preinstalled is Emulation Station. I had used the DVDmulleter to get the bios necessary. The HDD has been partitioned correctly having being split from F to G the remaining left. I am fairly new to this and any advice to help would be beneficial.
  15. Hello everyone, I have a little problem with a softmoded Xbox with an Ndure, XBMC4Gamers main dashboard, Unleash alternative dashboard and equipped with a 500 GB hard drive. The console has about 80 working games on F and G partitions. The problem is that some get corrupted when I try to put others on the hard drive. The home artwork disappears and sometimes I can no longer launch the game. I noticed that some files were getting corrupted. The copied games do not launch or I have an "unreadable disc" message ... I have tried various things but have not been able to resolve this issue. I forgot to say that I have about 30 GB left available on G ... I would like to point out that this problem is only present on the G partition, the one I mainly use in fact ... I even tried to copy games via DVD2XBOX but they are not copied correctly and will not launch, while the application does not report any copy error ... After having thought about it, I tell myself that what produces these "instabilities" or these bugs is the fact of having via the FTP recorded and then erased such or such game many times, which causes the hard drive to be completely fragmented. I understand that it is useless in principle to defragment the HDD but at some point it must be necessary ... No? Has anyone ever had this problem? What I plan to do is move all the functional content to an external HDD via FTP and then re-inject everything cleanly so that I can then have these remaining 30 GB on the G partition without any problem. Thank you for reading me, hoping that some will provide me with an explanation and possibly an alternative solution ...
  16. Hi all, After lots of searching / reading topics, this is my first post and a newbie question ... I can't seem to set up my Amiga games to load and / or play properly on Ninja?!?!?! Any help will be appreciated as I've been able to get other formats going and added artwork, categories etc however getting an Amiga game to work has me stumped
  17. Hello All I know there are some games like HP prisoner of Azkaban that won't work because of long file paths, etc. Does anyone know of a full list of games that don't work? I have read that you can use the ISO mounted on a virtual drive with softmod but my XBOX is hard modded so I'm not sure if this would work? thanks in advance AtariSoul
  18. I am looking for _resource files specific for xbmc4games for the apps not the games like EVOX DVD2XBOX AVALAUNCH and others. Has anyone come across these ? Was never great with Photoshop to make them, if I did would rather look at the missing artwork default image.
  19. Is it possible to patch games to 1080i? It's probably not very practical, but it would be interesting to try it with some simpler games.
  20. I have an odd problem in XBMC4GAMERS, after my Xbox has been turned on for a while and I try and start a (hdd) game then progress "bar" just spins and nothing happens. If I then turn off the Xbox and turn it on again and starts the game without letting the Xbox be turned on for a while the game starts fine ... I have the same issue with the REBOOT and SHUTDOWN in XBMC4GAMERS .... this problem is not occuring when I start apps from XBMC4GAMERS. Any idea's?
  21. Just finished Silent Hill 4 and it was just like... wow. So, beside Cold Fear and Dino Crisis 3 which are surely on my wishlist, do you guys know any other survival horror for the ogxbox ?
  22. Practically I have to acquire a certain game (Tenchu - Return from Darkness)... which could be (I'm not sure) the same as "Tenchu - Fatal Shadows" for PS2... but I'm not sure, so has anyone played this game to know if there's anything different than the PS2 version (like... new chars, new missions, new story, new gameplay etc...) ? Also, is there any game/series which is relevantly different between the Xbox and the 6th gen counterparts versions (PS2 and GC, if I'm not missing any other console like... the Gizmondo! lol, jk with this one)
  23. Hello, it's meee.. lol, no Adele, just kidding I was wondering: what are the Xbox-only games (exclusive games made only for Xbox and not for other consoles, only playable on an Xbox) which really deserve to be played and why... VS which games of the same category should be avoided (as they're cr*ppy or just unplayable, bad, lame, etc...) Asking this question because, of course, I've already played a game which I forgot I had for another console and I want to play Xbox authentic games (while maybe leaving the rest for other consoles or PC equals). You can leave a little review and a gameplay screen of each game , so I can have a direct knowledge/preview of the game (especially as regards graphics, as I saw some exclusive games have really their own graphic style ,for that generation of consolles, which is unseen on other consoles)
  24. My issue is that out of all the games I have, probably only every 4th or 5th game actually launches. The rest just go from whichever dashboard I am using, to a black screen, then back to the dashboard without running at all... The screen flickers a bit but stays black and its always the exact same amount of time. Now if its a working game, it works. It loads instantly, no waiting, and it has no glitches or crashes. First the specs: Xbox v1.0 with a OpenXenium modchip recently installed. I am running 3 different dashes (mostly as incremental troubleshooting steps, not to complicate things). The first is a softmodded UnleashX using Rocky5's latest. 2nd boots using M8+ bios to XBMC. 3rd boots to EvoX also using M8+. I upgraded to a 2tb drive and copied over all my original roms, plus a hdd ready set I found on the usual places. I had done a power fix on the motherboard traces and removed the clock cap after it burst(no corrosion), but that was while it was softmodded for the last 13 years, and its never affected the ability of games or applications to run from disc or hdd Troubleshooting: I've done all the usual troubleshooting steps like trying both my Component and Composite cables, and forcing resolutions from 1080i down to 480i. I've attempted to launch all the roms using "launch as NSTC" or "launch as PAL" (forcing PAL-60), and setting regions to auto or default. I've also read that softmods and hard mods don't like working together, so I reformatted C and put back clean C files for the original MS Dash. I did not clear out the UDATA or TDATA folders on E, but I wouldn't suspect that to affect launching specific games. I routinely clean out the drive cache folder, and I have plenty of space free on all my partitions. I've tried running the games from UnleashX, Evox, XBMC, and game mgr in DVD2Xbox. Thinking perhaps it was just the hdd ready set I obtained was partially bad, I tried getting some redumps of a few of the non-working games. I XISO'd them using dvdmulleter, burned them to dvd-r, then ripped them to the xbox hdd using DVD2Xbox(patching and ACL processing enabled). I also tried Qwix to ftp over files from XISOs. Originally I had FTP'd over the entire 2tb hdd ready set using FileZilla using Binary, but these few games I was testing I must have transferred dozens of times for testing making sure it was set binary and that the xbe's were patched first. Those redumps function the same as the hdd ready set. Black screen, then back to dash. Very consistent... if the game will run, it will run no matter how I get it onto the box. If not, then black screen. Where I launch them from has ZERO affect. All my original rips on the hard drive (made by me over the last decade while the box was softmodded) still function fine, including original discs, and maybe 20% of the hdd ready set. Are there some basic step I've overlooked in the modding process? I am new to this OpenXenium modchip. Is there some other bios I should try, either newer or older like M7? It feels like this old v1.0 xbox may not be liking all this newer software and hardware, but thats just my desperation grasping at straws. Any questions, help, or suggestions? I felt like this was the best place for this thread, but I'd be happy to ask a mod to move it or start a new one in the correct forum if "games" is not the best place for it.
  25. Hello everyone, some may be familiar with the 720p patches thread on the Emuxtras website. I want to make a thread here as well so they won't be lost. Many patches have been made(by various contributors) with many (near) perfect conversions. Some games require a 128MB or even a CPU modded Xbox, like the ones made by N64 Freak. But many also run on the a standard 64MB Xbox. IPS patches are really small (just a few KB's) and only contain the modified hex values and on what position in the binary they should be modified. You will need an application that can apply IPS patches if you want to use them. You can use Lunar IPS https://fusoya.eludevisibility.org/lips/ but there are also others. Because the patches are only a few KB's this means it is also a good candidate to patch them directly on the Xbox in XBMC. This is also why I have named the patches after the game ID's and denoted the target Xbox (64MB, 128MB CPU) to facilitate this. There is a project called python-ips( https://pypi.org/project/python-ips/) which runs on python version 2.7 (supported on XBMC) which seems to apply the patches correctly and can create backups. I might look into creating a XBMC python script that incorporates python-ips. But unfortunately I probably won't have too much time to do it and since I am unfamiliar with the XBMC specific syntax it will take a while. However if someone wants to pick this up before me than that is fine. This also goes for other making additional patches. Some of the better games that seem to run amazingly were made by Silverrock see videos of Doom 3 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MZf3CqUc_hs) and Darkwatch (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jhOPzUNW7Bo) I will add the patches here soon. You can check them out on Emuxtras if you want them now. here are some screenshots of some of the games.
