About Me

  1. Hi there, a couple of days ago I unpacked my XBOX Classic (waiting in a box scince my last move 5 years ago and purchased in 2004 with 128MB Ram and a smartXX 2.0 Modchip) and it brings back a lot of good memories. But it seems that I have forgotten quite everything - so hopefully I will learn the old and the new stuff about this great console. Greetings from Germany
  2. Ok I want to install my x3 that is on 1.6 board to a 1.0 board the problem is that the modchip has all the bios flashed to 1.6 is it possible for me to reflash the bios to work on the 1.0 board don’t want to mess anything up
  3. If i flash a bios with the skip dvd check will i still be able to boot from dvd on a blank harddrive?
  4. Yesterday I ftp'd Conker Live and Reloaded to my Xbox v.1.0 , however the game doesn't boot up, instead it displays a message saying: "there is a problem with your disc, it may be damaged or dirty". I tried patching the game with ACL in DVD2Xbox but nothing happens, I still get the same error. Is there something more I'm not taking in account?
  5. I purchased xbox just released, then 360 and ONE just to play Halo (also with XLink Kai). The original xbox I modified it with hardware I think in 2005 (I had to buy two kits because I'm a beginner), it was super with XBMC. Now after years I am very happy to be able to dust it off thanks to XBMC-EMUSTATION (dashboard !!!). Thanks to everyone and a special thanks to Rocky5 !!! Well done !!!
  6. Hello Friends, I have started a new Xbox ( My wife will kill me). This time I took the time to give you some photos of my madness: Step1: Disassembling It was very dirty, this is a 1.1 version. I immediately removed clock capacitor (Yes a gamegear is also lying on the ground) and change thermal paste. Step2: Hot water and soap cleaning in the kitchen on plastic parts Step3: The same for the shields Step4: Shield painting to prevent corrosion (EMI points will be paint removed after painting). This is the grey primer, after I put what I use black or white paints. Step5: And why don't adding more ram, this board is very nice. With help of my xblast lite, one chip after another. Note, that the chip N°4 gave me some problem, after test, the xbox start then stop, I check and redid the solder 3 times, after first, no boot problem on Xblast, but the chip was not anymore detected. So I decided to gently remove it, and to replace it with a new one. And it worked, I could go on with the last one. For people upgrading their Xbox, don't forget that a chip can fail even if it is new like for me if you realize bad solder and make a short circuit. As you can see, it remains some flux. It is a bit hard to remove all as I worked for a long time on chip N°4. (Near PSU connector) Step6: I have to confirm that everything is ok and check memory inside operating system. You can see after the last chip that XblastOS show 128 Mib. Inside tool menu (in settings), you can test your memory. This is what you have to do after each chip added. My prefered order is chip 2, the chip 3 ( both bottom side), then the 4th because some caps take lot of place to solder and finish by number 1. and finally check under operating system, to confirm that no blocks are failled. Some blocks can't be tested as they are used by operating system. Step7: DVD cleaning, Pot settings, new belt installation and Ide to Sata improvements. As you can see, I replace always jumper by solder ( master / slave) I had a case where the jumper falled during shippment. I also replace the 2 bad quality chineese capacitors bye Panasonic ones. The whole DVD case was cleaned with isopropyl alcohol, and also lens, motor. New greased has been applied to axles and caddy. DVD pot was 2400 Ohm. It is very often a too high value like this one. Samsung drives like value between 1900 and 2000 ohm. Look the copy speed result after that: more than 6 Mb/s Who wants it ? I don't spoke about the Sata HDD. I will use ever a 500 Gb, or a 3tb ( I know xbox can only handle 2 Tb ) If someone wants it and leaves in europe. I will put this box on stress test during a week and it will be ready for sale. It can also be delivered with original HDD ( Seagate IDE and for the future IDE2SATA adapter provided) If you are interrested in, send a PM. Bye Benur75
  7. Hey everybody!! I hope you're having a fantastic day!!! I just opened up my XBOX V1.1 that, (18 years ago) I soldered a single core wire strand through from the back of the board to the top of the board. I cannot recall the specific tech that I was following from way way way back when, but I can't find any sort of photos online covering exactly what I was doing at the time!?? All I can remember from all of this memory delving is the phrase "If the bios is corrupted, then the TSOP will boot from backup", or something to that specific ilk. None of the TSOP bridging points are exacting the nature of what I did. The box was 100%%% operational to previous stock constraints, booting every time that I powered on, without a hitch, stutter or glitch, for about 4 years or so of operation. I did set the clock after each boot (which probably does mean that I still need to replace the clock capacitor), however I cannot see any specific electrolyte leakage on the board surrounding that capacitor, which is interesting. Anyway. I soldered to one specific junction on the back and taped the other end in place on the top - the tape has since disappeared along with the end of the wire that I was passing through the specific through port junction on the top of the board. I don't know where I was jumping the wire to. I can't find anyone doing this specific procedure concerning TSOP/General Repair at the current point? Is this an outmoded repair? Did people just stop doing this? What on earth was I doing? Anyway, the photos are attached, and I'm WILDLY interested to know what memories might be jogged from anyone's experience repairing the OG XBOX after seeing these photos.
  8. Hey Guys! Is there a way to Copy my save game files from my modded Xbox to my 360 with RGH (for backwards compatibilty) if yes: how can I do that? :)
  9. Hey guys, just getting back into the Xbox modding scene. Recently pulled out my original 1.0 with Xecuter modchip and upgraded the hard drive to a 1TB and did the clock capacitor removal. I bought the Pound HDMI cable since it seemed like a lot of people vouched for it and I'm not sure if I just got a bad one or what but there seems to be a very green tint to everything. It's very noticeable during the boot sequence. Anybody else have issues with this cable?
  10. Just joined great forum guys, full of useful information Thanks
  11. Nice to see an OG Xbox forum still alive ! I will soon upgrade the HD of my modded Xbox version 1.1, still running with a 200Go drive Nice to see the infos available here. Thanks !! Yves
  12. Hi guys, newbie to the forum. I've just ordered an Xbox One X and am now looking at a few games to go with it. Keen to buy Skyrim and Forza Horzon 3 (interesting contrast I know). The local game store has a deal for 4 Xbox 360 games for $20. Skyrim and Forza Horizon 3 are included in the deal, while their Xbox One counterparts are triple the price. So my question is, is it worth paying extra for the Xbox One version vs the 360 versions considering they are both "Xbox X enhanced"? Hope that makes any sense. Thanks to anyone with any advice &/or knowledge on the subject. Cheers
  13. Hello is it actually easy from a softmod to a tsop ? What do you need all that for?
  14. Hi all, hello everybody from lo Sceriffo, writing from Italy. After more than 15 years wanting an Xbox finally I decided to pull the trigger and bought recently 2 OG Xboxes (a little bit later, I know). Been lurking for a while, now I'm registered. Have a nice day to you all, Lo Sceriffo
  15. I hace a 300gb IDE hard drive that I used in a sodtmodded Xbox back in the day - only realized this evening that it is locked and that I no longer have the Xbox I made it for - is there anyway to unlock it - I have softmodded xboxes lying around - would they help unlock it? Thanks
  16. Good evening. Just after a bit of advice please. Managed to get one of my xboxs soft modded successfully last night so very pleased with that. The query I have is the following. Opened up my translucent green xbox to clean it but noticed this chip installed. Am looking for any info please as to what it is and what I am able to do with it if you dont mind. The console was from a friend and he cant remember what it was installed for lol. Cheers
  17. Very new to the OG Xbox so am very much looking forward to being here and hoping to mod an xbox soon, well at least once I have worked out what I'm doing anyway lol. Currently own 2 black, 1 crystal and 1 crystal green Xbox's which all work apart from on of the black ones which has a dodgy power supply. Please be gentle with me if I ask what may be to you guys some silly or simple questions. Many thanks and look forward to being here
  18. Happy Carnival guys and gals! I am sending greetings from the land of Carnival! Been looking for a site such as this because of my love of the Xbox and I want to prolong my Xbox by modding it and I think this is the site for me! Cheers and don’t forget to drink some beers!
  19. Hello everyone, I recently received two broken Xbox and was able to build a working console from both. And now I'm here and working on modding of my Xbox
  20. Is there a way, to copy files from one Xbox to another, without the need to FTP? Seems to me like I’ve done it in XBMC before, bu I don’t remember.
  21. Salutations! Many, many moons ago I mowed several thousand million lawns for a PlayStation 2. I loved every bit of it. Great memories, awesome games, years went by and the damn thing still works. I went into the army and after returning home from my second deployment I picked up all the consoles I grew up with and finally an OG Xbox. Man did I miss out. So, lesson learned there. Now I use my Xbox with unleash X to mainly play Battlefront I and II. I'm used to using my Pi 3 B+ for most of my emulation needs but then I discovered emulation on the Xbox and I am more than impressed. I would love to do a 2TB emulation box so I can share the "classics" with my son. I honestly don't think I have enjoyed a console as much as the OG Xbox in the last few years. I love modding things and learning about all the tech specs and limitations. All in all glad to be a part of this community!
  22. Hi there I loved the OG Xbox and was pleased to read that it also makes a fantastic emulator via modding . Ive built a full scale arcade cabinet using Hyperspin, and a couple of units using Raspberry Pi and Emulation Station. Looking forward to pimping my old OG . Quick question , whats the best way to get a European OG Xbox from composite to a modern TV ? Ive read something about the Euro units locked out the 720p settings . Thanks Jock
  23. Hi, Basically I want to transfer files from my Xbox hdd and make a backup onto my PC. my Xbox has a sata drive installed via IDE to Sata adapter. If I was to just take out the Sata drive and hook it up directly to my PCs motherboard via Sata cable could I put the contents of my hdd onto my PC? Using xplorer or is that not a quicker way to add/remove games? Most people say ftp for everything I’m relatively new to modding any advice is useful thanks
  24. I have (purchased from a friend) a x3ce modded Xbox that boots into XBMC and it has a 2tb HDD installed. He has about 330 Xbox games in folders on the G partition, and it's running out of room. I have another 300+ games that I would like to install to F and just wanted to see what needed to be done to get all the games from F and G to show when I click the "Games" tab. Is the a CFG file I need to edit in XMBC or am I stuck with 2 separate sources (Games and Games 2)? I hope I explained that well enough. Thanks in adavance.
  25. I haven’t done any modding yet. I’ve got my Xbox on order, it should be in by the end of the week. I am looking forward to getting back into some original Xbox games. I pretty much haven’t touched one since the 360 came out. For now I’m just trying to make 5+ posts so I can download the repair guide! Looking forward to being part of this community. Thanks!
