About Me

1. I've been messing around with Rocky5's script for getting certain tags from a game's _resources/default.xml file like synopsis and release date info. I've trimmed it a bit to set my desired properties when I manually run it: https://pastebin.com/Tp8Ds103 Here's how it displays: I'm trying to figure out a way to have the script either autorun when focus shifts to a new list item/game, maybe on some kind of delay so that when scrolling through lots of stuff the Xbox doesn't just freeze up, or somehow parse all default.xml files in the library on load so that the info is already ready to go when you scroll to a different game, but that might take forever tbh. I'm also having a tough time figuring out how to trim a string, say I wanted to cut out "05 NOV " in the release date and just display the year. In the script: Current_Window.setProperty('Synopsis_release_date', Output.release_year.string) or in the xml: $INFO[Window(MyPrograms).Property(Synopsis_year)] Not sure where in there I'd do that, if I'd need to to load another utility in python, or if I can just do it in the skin's XML, which would be handy for other things. Some help from someone with more experience with Python would be much appreciated.
2. Thanks for your time and any help you fine folks can provide. Here's what I got, and here's some symptoms and our current situation. 2020 bought TSOP'd V1.1 from a nice gent on ebay. It worked fine for the past two years, then recently encountered problems. IND bios, UnleashX Ver:0.39.0.222A Build 572, Kernel 1.0.5003.67, MS dash Kernel: 1.00.5003.67 D:1.00.5659.03, Upgraded HDD to Seagate Barracuda 750gb upon purchase, reapplied thermal paste to heatsinks/chips, clock cap was removed by seller. This xbox is my brothers, so the symptoms aren't first hand, but described as best as he could to me. I have the original HDD around still. Last 2 months, symptoms: Occasional freezing while watching videos on XBMC. Reboot would seem to allow playback. Error message about the skin not functioning properly, so he changed to another skin and seemed to solve that issue. Occasional freezing during game play with Halo (1 or 2, can't remember), the last freeze had a few purple bars in the video output (someone suggested that the lines/bars reminded them of GPU issues they experienced with older computer repairs they did in the past) No boot, current situation: IND Bios logo shows up but nothing more. It stays on the IND screen indefinitely while both of the heat sinks get very hot. (Aside from the heat, it reminds me of bad memory issues with computers not booting. I've never got any screen activity with bad RAM though, so when the IND screen shows, it makes me think that RAM may not be the issue.) Actions taken: Opened xbox and removed HDD and CD drive, attempted startup but no change in results. Found three caps in front of large heat sink bulging. Replaced with same value caps from a parts xbox, no change in results. Redid thermal paste on heatsinks, no change in results. Disconnected front USB cables(wire connectors to controller ports). So just the PSU, fan, and power/eject connectors still attached but no change in results. FTP timed-out, no change in results. No other obvious defects, but my eyes may be getting aged and I could be missing something. But generally, I dont see anything burnt, no other visually bad caps, PSU seems to be working regularly. I'm not familiar with the TSOP process, just the plain jane softmod. Is it possible to redo the TSOP, or is this sounding like a hardware issue to you folks? My brothers and cousins love coming over to get system link going, so being down a box is a bit annoying and we may be losing some saves and profiles that I'm not able to FTP off. Any help or pointers is greatly appreciated.
3. I have the parts to build 10 x 1player OGX360, all parts are new and unused. My intension was to build and use these myself but I'll probably never get the time! I did try attaching a picture but couldn't get it to work, there's a link below. 10 x PCB's 10 x Arduino Pro Micro all components needed for PCB's Looking for £200 + delivery https://postimg.cc/yWVtWxDf Thanks
4. I mean, played FIFA and it's like... ultra-complex campaign mode... very limited number of national teams (lots of useless clubs)... NO EDITOR (really? that's the funniest part, to build your own team!)... complex commands (some sort of mix between PES and older FIFA titles... switching player makes my mind stun...)... isn't there something really simple like older ISS games or even Virtua Striker series? Asking here instead of usual "top 10 soccer games" pages because those pages only talk about PES and FIFA. Of course, I'm not looking for excellent games... even "decent" are ok to me.
5. Why does NFS freeze on this xbox and not from the one i ftp over .. what does it need tot boot up?
6. https://github.com/gaasedelen/titan#overview Overview Titan is a series of hand-written binary patches for the original Microsoft Xbox kernel. These patches are designed to expand the storage capabilities of the popular 2001 game console in excess of 16TB. This is achieved by modifying the kernel to support LBA48 and extending the number of addressable 512-byte disk sectors in the IO stack. Special thanks to Mike Davis for his serial debugging boards, Matt Borgerson for his tireless efforts on XEMU & FATX, and finally Paul Bartholomew (oz_paulb) for his original LBA48 research from 2003 which facilitated up to 2TB for the past 15+ years. All of these people and their open-source works played an important role in the creation of Titan. Disclaimer This project does NOT use any copyrighted code, or help circumvent security mechanisms of an Xbox console. These patches should be considered highly experimental pending further attestation. By using this software, you accept the risk of experiencing total loss or destruction of data on the console in question. Titan may break existing Xbox homebrew, and existing homebrew may break Titan-based systems. Usage Titan's PC-based kernel patcher is written in Python 3. It is strongly recommended that you download the released packages which bundle the applicable dependencies for Windows, Linux, and macOS. Example usage is provided below: python3 tpatch.py m8plus_kernel.img Successful output should look something like the following: [*] Patching with Titan v1.0 -- by Markus Gaasedelen [*] - Hashing kernel 'C:\titan\m8plus_kernel.img' to ensure compatibility [*] - 0x800243AA: Patching HddStartVerify(...) [*] - 0x8002443F: Patching HddVerify(...) [*] - 0x800244E6: Patching HddStartRw_Length(...) [*] - 0x80024534: Patching HddStartRw_Transfer(...) [*] - 0x80024632: Patching HddRw_Save(...) [*] - 0x80029E5B: Patching FatxAsyncIo(...) [+] Patching successful! For a full walkthrough of setting up an Xbox with Titan, please refer to the GUIDE.md provided in this repo. Additional Notes Some additional notes about Titan are as follows: Formatting The FATX project is currently the only tested/supported method to format a disk for a Titan-based system XBPartitioner/XBlast/XeniumOS/FATXplorer are all considered unsupported and probably require updates I fully expect these tools to get updated releases in the near-future Partitions Titan is essentially hardcoded to use a 'F (Partition 6) Takes All'-esque partitioning scheme Titan could be extended to support additional partitions, but it seems unnecessary Clusters Titan allows increased cluster sizes of 128kb, 256kb and 512kb It is strongly recommended to format large disks (2TB+) with 1024 sectors per cluster (512kb) Matt's FATX is the only tool that can currently format disks with larger clusters Increased cluster sizes dramatically increases the speed of mounting FATX volumes (faster bootup) Increased cluster sizes will ensure more linear reads on the disk (faster file reads, game loading, etc.) Increased cluster sizes allows for more items in the root disk directory (8192 items at 512kb clusters) If you're using Titan, you can afford the luxury of bigger clusters so stop complaining about wasted space Increased cluster sizes were never the issue for limiting drive/partition sizes, this is FUD 64kb clusters should work on the Titan partition but bootup/mounting WILL be slow for large disks UDMA Titan can change the UDMA transfer mode used by the kernel with --udma N Increasing the UDMA mode has been profiled to improve some game load times in excess of 20% Increasing the UDMA mode will require an 80pin IDE cable The retail Xbox uses UDMA 2 (33mb/s) by default (as do many/all (?) modified BIOS') The maximum supported UDMA mode by the Xbox southbridge is UDMA 5 (100mb/s HDD <--> CPU) UDMA 5 DOES NOT WORK WITH ALL IDE TO SATA ADAPTERS UDMA 5 has been confirmed working with Startech adapters but has not been properly benchmarked UDMA 5 is unstable on RXD-629A7-7 based adapters, but UDMA 4 seems okay WLXKG-863B are the 'worst' adapters I have experienced working on Titan and are largely untested Games A random assortment of games have been tested to ensure some baseline on system stability I don't expect major issues here, but more testing should be obviously be done Dashboards XBMC seems to work fine EvoX seems to work fine EvoX displays the incorrect disk size because it performs a modulus of 'available gigabytes' by 1000 This does not mean that you formatted incorrectly, or that the HDD is corrupt FTP seems okay? Dashboard-based FTPs are probably much safer than BIOS-based FTP (eg. XeniumOS) Consider all other dashboards as untested Other Homebrew Notes DVD2Xbox works fine FTP via XeniumOS is probably risky. I would only use it to transfer files onto RETAIL partitions (C or E) Anything booting into a BFM BIOS (PBL, Hexen?) is totally unsupported for accessing the Titan partition (F) Consider all other homebrew as untested Patches Titan is only supported on the M8+ kernel. M8+ is a modified version of the final retail kernel (5838) Titan/M8+ can be used on ALL retail hardware revisions (1.0 -> 1.6b) These patches can almost certainly be ported to other Xbox kernels, but not something I plan on doing Previous iterations of these patches modified the kernel to use 4K sectors but was deemed unnecessary The released patches can be further simplified, moving away from the original 4K implementation More experimental patches that further accelerate mounting large FATX volumes may be added later
7. I need to test CPUS before attempting Upgrades on XBOX. Anyone have a compatible motherboard please let me know your price. Checking here before I decide on Ebay. XBOX 1.6 CPU upgrade attempt #1 (On hold until I can test CPUS 1st)
8. I am quite familiar with using fatxplorer for xbox 360. But i cant seem to get the og xbox partitions to show up in fatxplorer.
9. Hey everyone! I was able to extract a bunch of the *.xm mesh files from the MS Dashboard using WinXIP. It came with a program that could view these meshes, but unfortunately it's not that great. See, you can't interact with the meshes, the program only displays the mesh and slowly rotates it automatically. I want to get a better look at these meshes and possibly export them to a format like .obj. I was wondering if anyone has looked into writing a plugin for Noesis that can view these *.xm files? Thanks!
10. See here... The guy claims to have "stacked" the ram chips but is yet to supply any photo proof. He said this "You're damn right. I just finished all 4 chips and the X3 bios detects it and all is good :)" so seems to have succeeded. If so this is a world first , yeah??
11. Maybe someone has explored this already but I haven't found anything so far. My idea is to split the SATA connection on a hard drive, connect it to a USB adapter, and have the other end of the adapter connected to a female USB port on the case. If this would work at all, an obvious issue would be powering the drive while the console is off so I'm thinking a SATA to USB y-adapter. 2 ports would need to be plugged in, one data/power and one power. Another (stupid) idea is using the Xbox's power for the drive, hooking up the optical drive's power connections to an external on/off switch to force error 12. Maybe useful for locked drives? Not sure, I'm curious if the HDD would be safe to connect to or even connectable at the error screen while still having the IDE cable plugged in or if a SATA selector/switch would be needed to achieve the same effect of a hotswap. I'm also not sure which of the optical drive's power connections would need to be on the on/off switch to achieve the error, likely not all of them and a 24 connection switch would probably have to be custom so that's a no-go if it is all 12 wires. The other way looks easier/safer and would probably be the only one worth doing. Anyway, the point would be fast read/write speeds without opening the console ever again. Edit: Did some more research and I'm pretty this is impossible since you can't split a hard drives data connection, sad about it
12. As the title says i'm after a full cap replacement kit for a 1.4 Xbox. Looking for a UK seller to avoid humongous shipping charges. Looking to replace the caps on the MB and power supply board. This box will be my 2022 Ultimate Xbox build with Cerbios, Huge HDD, Xbox HDMI+ and whatever else I deem fit to add Any ideas anyone? The only place I have found so far is Console5 in the US and the shipping to the UKis $40 at its cheapest. That's a lot for a tiny parcel of caps.
13. Shoot offers tested and working selling as bundle xenium ice chip along with xenium sp ice solderless adapter.
14. Hello all! I’ve been a console modder for about 10-12 years. I’ve done hard mods on Xbox 360s and have practiced a bit of trace repair on other consoles like PS3 and other devices. I had a few questions about some issues I’m having with my side-of-the-road OGXbox. I kept finding this website on my Google searching and figured this is the place to be!
15. I have a TSOP v1.0 that I decided to make a first attempt at a RAM upgrade using a hot air rework station. After adding the fourth chip I began having FRAG errors. After several re-flows and checking all the pins, I figured I got bad RAM chips. So I removed them all. AND STILL FRAG… after a closer inspection, I noticed that one of the nearby SMD capacitors went missing. C5B3. Any chance someone know the value of this cap, or has a list? I’m not sure if you can measure an onboard cap.
16. Hi, I have a 1.6 XBox with the 5 caps near the power supply bulging a bit, now I want to replace them but I don't know which caps to get. I am currently looking at this set: https://www.digikey.ca/en/products/detail/panasonic-electronic-components/EEU-FK0J332L/9921194?s=N4IgjCBcoEwKwyqAxlAZgQwDYGcCmANCAPZQDaIMALDAJwAMVIAukQA4AuUIAyhwE4BLAHYBzEAF8iAdnhIQqSJlyES5SmADMjCKxCdufIWMlEYjWvMXL8RUpAqbt9AAQBWgGIt2XSCACqwoIcAPJoALJ4GDgArvx4ppT00pbQCujYtmoOIABsAHSaLgBq3vq%2BAUGhEVGx8YkAtBBp1pmq9hRg9CwSvUA Are these good quality ones that will work no problem on the XBox? Sorry if this has been asked for 1000 times but I've not been able to find a post that has exact cap specifications because I don't want anything to go wrong. Thanks.
17. I am trying to salvage a busted white duo x2 mod chip for parts for a project im working on. I know the larger square 'duo' chip is a xilinx xc9572xl. but Im not sure what the larger chip is (I believe it is nand?) I am more interested in the square 8 pin chip that has the ic part and serial number sanded off. if anyone knows what the 8pin chip is, please let me know. edit: the 'amd' chip is most likely: 16MBIT PARALLEL FLASH MEMORY 48TSOP / AM29LV160MT-100EI (legacy) or S29AL016J70TFI010 (taken from open xenium)
18. Hi There! I have 4 ultimately identical original Xboxes, all with clock capacitors removed, all TSOPed less for one has a Aladdin XT due to a bad TSOP flash, all with a IDE-> SATA, 80 pin IDE cables and a 1TB Drive. The drive comes pre-images with Xbmc4gamers and a variety of content (the drive is nearly full). The DVD drives in all 4 are non-functional and in some cases removed completely. Each console comes with two controllers, power, AV and a IR adapter. The drives have a full backup of everything stored in a folder (eeprom, hdkey, bios dump, etc.) and raindrop installed so you can re-flash with your preferred bios / bios configuration. They are excellent base consoles to get into a modded OG Xbox if say you wanted to put a much larger drive and the newly released bioses. I'm in the US and will only ship to the US at actual cost. I'm asking $150 per bundle. If interested please DM me and I will throw them on eBay (for both of our protections) and we can close the deal! Thank You! Edge-`
19. Spent the last few weeks modding the thing and just noticed this Besides from trace rot (which I don't have the skills or time to fix), could it be anything else I can try? It happens even with the AV cable disconnected, so it's not that short circuiting. Thanks heaps guys.
20. Hi, I have just dusted off my old Xbox I bought back in 2003, and decided to softmoded it since I figured the Microsoft warrenty was probably no good anymore..... I successfully softmoded the Xbox using Splintercell, and now have the UnleashX dashboard installed. Just a simple question for what to do next (hopefully)? As a person knowing absouluty nothing/zero about a softmoded Xbox. What what are the main / essential things recommend to be carried out next following a softmod, as one starts their journey down this new road of unlocking the Xbox's potential? My main goal is to just load some old games to the HDD, and have ability to watch a movie in HD (if possible)? I understand how to FTP, but have no idea what I should even try to load and/or save onto the Xbox HDD to begin with.... Thank you for any pointers to get going! Grayso
21. I've been writing and tweaking my UnleashX config for about a day or so and I think I have every feature that I personally want from my dashboard. The only issue is with the DVD copy function. It works as expected, except that when it is selected without a disc in the drive, it completes instantly and still says that ripping the disc was successful. I'd like to throw an error MessageBox if this is the case just to make it a bit more presentable. Do any XML wizards know if there's a way to check if there's a disc in the drive? Any help is greatly appreciated. <List Text="Copy Disc to HDD" Sort="Off" Batch="True">
Proceed with copying the disc to the HDD?\nThe directory will be written to F:\games\[Title]

Error: failed to copy disc. The disc may be dirty or damaged

Disc successfully copied to HDD!\nPlease remove the disc before continuing.

</List> config.xml
22. Title is pretty self-explanatory. I have a 1.6 chipped with an OpenXenium and some games are absolutely unplayable thanks to the 480p scrambling issue. The general consensus seems to be to use XBMC4Gamers to patch the files, but I'm an UnleashX puritan and would like to avoid having to use a whole other separate dash to play only a handful of troublesome games. If anyone knows of a method of accomplishing this without XBMC I'd greatly appreciate it.
23. I’m having a difficult time finding a replacement flex cable connecting the laser to the pcb. Sumitomo G Awm 2896 80c Vw 1 20 Pin. If anyone has an old dead drive or can help me find this, I would greatly appreciate it.
24. good afternoon all i upgraded my hard drive and want to use the old one for something totally different. is there a way to reset the HD and totally factory format the drive to FAT32? i unlocked the drive using the XBOX and plugged it into my pc. Using Disks i used the NULL KEY as a password to access it but i still don't have permission to write to or format the 500gig WESTERN-DIGITAL. so am i just stuck with an old backup of the XFAT IDE? please help
25. I wasn't sure where to put this thread, but it is still Xbox related. I have a box full of IDE hdds that I'd like to sort through without having an Xbox run for hours to power them. I've been trying to find a guide or video tutorial on converting a 12V wall adapter or a usb device(if possible) to power the IDE drive. I e found one video that is pretty close to what I want and it suggests using a regulator and switch. I'm hoping for a simpler solution as I have a ton of old wall adapters lying around.
