A friend of mine setup my softmodded xbox hard drive with emulators, games etc and a cool dashboard - I'm just wondering how to clone the drive in order to use it in my spare xbox - I can unlock the drive in HDM V1.9 and there seems to be an option to clone a hard drive in HMD V1.9 as well - anyone tried this or is there another way without TSOP or chipped console? Hi - I have a choice between a Philips or Samsung DVD drive for my newly softmodded xbox - both read disks - which one is the better option as I have quite a large collection of games on disk and intend on copying as many as I can to my hard drive but at 260GB with Coin ops 8 massive on there and other emulators - the disk drive will definitely get some use.

Hi - I have a 500GB SATA drive upgrade complete with Startech SATA to IDE connector and 80 pin IDE cable. However, I still feel my 400 GB IDE xbox loads coin ops games quicker. I bought a new old stock 500GB IDE drive and now I want to clone my SATA drive to my IDE Drive. Is this possible? I could use Chimp or could I use HDM V1.9? I would Prefer to use HDM V1.9 but I'm not sure it would recognise a SATA drive even if it is connected using a Startech SATA to IDE - anyone shed any light on this? Thanks

I successfully created and locked a 500GB IDE Seagate Hard drive using HDM V1.9. I transferred it to my xbox and it gets stuck at the xbox splash screen at start up for ages and then goes to Error 13 - any ideas? (It can take 2-3 minutes for the word "Microsoft" to appear under the xbox splash). Thanks

Hi - wasn't sure where to post this and thought I'd post it here seeing as you guys focus on cases. I'm looking for the front facia part that says "xbox" and attaches to the dvd drive drawer. I fixed a drive that I thought was unfixable with a new rubber band and a good cleaning with alcohol. Now I'd like to find a replacement part in the UK - anyone able to point me in the right direction - can't see them on ebay or amazon. I have an original black xbox so I need the part in black. Hi - I am trying to rebuild an xbox hard drive - I have the eeprom - a meant gave me an old Dell IDE drive - I know HDM v. 1.9 will work on it as I used it a few years ago. Does anyone know where I can get the C and E drive files for the rebuild? Thanks

Hi - I ordered a Star Tech IDE to SATA connector and have a spare 500GB SATA drive - will the IDE cable in the xbox work as it is a 500GB drive or will I need to invest in a 80 Pin cable?

So I used HDM v1.9 and created a new xbox hard drive (40GB) that works. However, I don't see the extra space when I turn it on - it isn't softmodded yet. I'm just wondering if I should put the hard drive back in the PC and create a F Folder using HDM. Will the F folder naturally partition the rest of the available space on the drive or will the ROCKY 5 softmod make all the extra available space in the E drive? Any advice greatly appreciated.

I have a few softmodded xbox consoles at this stage and I'm looking at buying hard drives to upgrade them. I'm wondering if SATA is slower than IDE even with the more expensive Startech SATA 2 IDE adapter? Is an SSD drive on a par with an IDE drive? Thanks

Hi - I recently updated my hard drive using HDM v 1.9 and it is now ready to mod - I have two options 1. Since I have all the files from back in the day to use Splinter Cell the SID I could mod it easily then I can use put Rocky 5 over it using the Rocky 5 disk. OR 2. Go to the trouble of setting up Rocky 5 Memory card mod -using a flash drive and Splinter Cell - have all the leads from back in the day and recently downloaded all the files and software needed. My question is does it matter if I choose the lazy option (number 1 above) or since I'm starting afresh with a new drive should I take the Option 2 route? Thanks in advance

Is it possible to attach Xbox IDE hard drive to a windows 7 or later SATA PC and build the hard drive from a softmodded xbox or do I need to find a really old PC? I know I used a Dell Optiplex years ago but I have it away to a mate a couple of years ago and he doesn't have it anymore. If I need an old PC can anyone recommend a specific spec - as I might have to buy one second hand - thanks in advance.

I have some games that are HDD ready. Can I put them on a USB and copy to my Xbox HDD using file explorer? Excuse my noob......

I would like to remove the DVD drive on my 1.0 tsop . Occasionally the Xbox will fail to boot because of the drive, and I have no need for it. I looked around on the internet and my xbox, although I know it can be done; I am not seeing clear way of performing this mod. Assistance would be appreciated.

I've recently transplanted my failing and old IDE hard drive to a 2tb expansion with new ribbon cable. Also updated Unleash X to latest build. After I finished this I started to play games like Fight Night Round 3 where you cycle through different character bulids and such.. when customizing it looks like my drive is freezing up. I've also noticed that when trying to play emulation front ends like coinops 8 the loading of some of the larger games like Killer Instinct freeze the system as well. Could the corruption of the old drive follow to the new drive? When I did the system transfer the only items I transferred were the eeprom partitions and saves. I was thinking maybe nulling the drive and then reformatting the other partitions might work? But wanted to see if there are any other suggestions. I've also attempted to launch these in xbmc4gamers but this also causes freezing. Not sure if that should be a separate topic or not.

Ive just upgraded a hard drive to a 250gb from a 8gb in a chipped xbox which has xecuter2 chip installed. but after usung xbpartitioner 1.3 off the hexen disc. I set f::\ partion to use remaning free space..All seems well., even in the hexen main menu it shows that f:\ partition is 240gb. But when i restart xbox in the unleashX dash it only shows 120gb. so show i load xbpartitioner off the hard drive and it show me a error message "LBA48 Info not found! custom partitions will not work with this bios" etc. So now i try creating 2 partions f:\ for 120gb and g:\ 120gb. but again only f:\ shows up with 120gb. do i need to some how update xecuter2 chip or would i be better removing the chip and tsopping the console? thanks

So ive been trying to clone my original xbox hard drive over to a wd1600aajs hard drive and i cannot get it to work. Looking for a cheap disc drive for my console. Not really picky about the type of drive since I upload most games over FTP anyway, but my current drive has a dead laser and it might be handy to have one that works.

So I am very new to the xbox modding scene and I bought all the stuff that is required to softmod my v1.6 xbox and I have been pretty successful thus far but I have ran into a brick wall. I bought a 250gb hard drive that will replace the previous hard drive and I and going through all the instructions on how to clone via chimp. Well I open up my chimp and it says it cannot lock my hard drive I have no idea if I can fix this or not and I havent been able to find anything online that has helped me with this. It also doesnt help that I really dont understand how alot of this works I am just following instructions if someone could please help me with this I would be greatly appreciated I can provide any information that you need.

Softmodded Xbox running Unleash X - 160gb HD (Unsure of model but can retrieve if needed.) Using Startech IDE2SAT2 Converter for cloning process set on Slave 2TB WD Blue Drive WD20EZRZ Once this is cloned successfully I planned on using the Kingwin Model ADP-06 I have swapped IDE cables to the converted sata drive with the Startech Adapter and loaded into Chimp successfully Don't care about games but would like to get saves if possible (The drive is also failing) In Chimp I am cloning out C and E partitions and then selecting "G Occupys Space Beyond 137GB" (New to this so not sure if this is the right option to use.) It completes it's process and I power down the system. But am getting an Error 13 when I plug up the hard drive into the master IDE port with both the startech set as "Master" and the Kingpin on both dip switch settings Am I missing something in this process? Do I need to update my dashboard on my original xbox to make chimp compatible?

A friend gave me back the xbox I made for him years ago. I want to update it for my grankids. It is chipped with an xecuter 2, is a version 1.6, and currently has an ancient 150GB hdd. Primarily, I want to put in a new HDD, planning on a 500GB, and use a Startech SATA/IDE adapter with an 80 wire cable. Then I want to add Coinops, and XBMC; the XBMC primarily for karaoke. Also a decent dash, thinking probably the last UnleashX. I have copied all the contents onto a drive via ftp. I am confused as to how to 1) install the new hdd and 2) how to install the dash/apps. From what I read on the wiki and elsewhere, supposedly, I can just install the drive, boot, and the xecuter wizard should walk me through formatting the drive. I assume that then I can put in the Hexen disk and it will install the dash's. Is this right? My xbox modding days are long behind me (even the 360 mod days, lol). Any help is appreciated.

Hi, I have hex edited the most common X2 5035 Bios files (Vanilla, VGA-Mod and Force480p Mod) in order to load the x2config.ini and the x2logo.bmp from C-Drive. If the files are not found on C, the BIOS will attempt to load from E as usual. It is not possible to load from F any more! Multiupload Mirrors 5035_ConfigC.rar

Hey everyone I am getting 2tb in google drive and I will be putting xbox files in there as I will not fill up all of it so if anyone wants to put some of there xbox files in there I don't mind but I wont put any roms inside there just let me know by PMing me or commenting on this post thx.

Upgraded my tsop xbox with a 2tb hard drive which replaced the 500gb sata drive, I have tried wiping this drive 500gb but windows or Linux refuses to because it doesn't see it correctly, what am I doing wrong, I don't want to brick the drive.
