  1. It was hard to get a good image, I think I damaged the board pretty bad. I figured my years of recaping crt's and some smd soldering here and there would make me qualified. I think I might have seriously damaged it beyond my repair abilities, I had such a hard time trying to make that joint (I made the mistake of using flux), any advice on what to do now? worried I might be S.O.L
  2. A few years ago, my very first xbox console got water damaged in a freak storage accident. I let it dry out for an extended period of time, made sure it was dry and turned it on (still pretty dumb I know, I was dumber then), it worked for a short time before it turned itself off. Now it just sits as a reminder of my high school days. I few days ago I was looking for a file so I switched it on, I actually forgot it had been damaged in the past (I have a lot of xboxes) It switched itself off when I went downstairs. Thinking that I had turned it off, I turned it on again to continue what I was doing and it turned off. Then I remembered why, the water damage. Anyway it is no longer important to me whether it works or not. What is important is that I had it plugged in to a powerboard/plugboard which has a quite a few other consoles plugged in. Now I don't know much about electricity but I am a bit concerned about my other consoles that were plugged into the same powerboard this xbox was using. How likely is it that my old damaged xbox damaged those other consoles? It is a 1.6 if that makes a difference and I have the standard power cable with no grounding prong. I asked this same question on the og xbox reddit but from what I have been told, this forum is the best for the more hardware related stuff. Thanks!
  3. I didn't see much corrosion on my two water damaged consoles (on the underside of the psu's there was some). So I took some photos for some more knowledgeable people. What do you think? Are these two Xboxes okay for service? They both work, I replaced the fan on one, now I need to replace the fan on the second. The power buttons and eject buttons are a little fussy. Here is My first one. https://imgur.com/a/rsZaqVX Here is the second. https://imgur.com/a/9IEXRLE Thanks
  4. Many thanks to you guys for helping a me out with my water damaged console. Now it is working again without switching off. After going through my stored items I came across another xbox which was in the same container as my previous water damaged console. I never turned this one on so I am not sure if it works. I want to see what I can do with it. I am going to be a lot more cautious with this one so in regards to switching it on, what precautions should I take? Thanks
  5. Hi, I recently damaged my xbox while installing MakeMHz HDMI, I shorted the video encoder chip and killed the motherboard. I swapped the motherboard since then with a 1.4/1.5 (FOCUS), salvaged the xblast lite modchip but the xbox does not boot once D0 is wired. Xbox does auto on/off twice then turns on with fast flashing light. This is the same pattern I usually get when I have a short during 128mb ram install. Also I thoroughly followed the instructions https://bitbucket.org/psyko_chewbacca/lpcmod_os/wiki/xblast_lite_manual/Installation Long story short, the on board tsop is flashed with xblast OS and I can see the available banks of the modchip when D0 is not connected. Is there way to test the modchip separately and eventually fix it? it is the best modchip I ever used till now and would hope to make it work again. Thanks,
  6. Hi, I am trying to download art for my games on my Xbox. The problem is when I start it it gives an error when I start the process with Magic Config. It says it is corrupted or damaged. The process stops afterwards. My console is hard modded with OpenXenuim and the OGXBOX installer 2021. What I am thinking it is that all my games are in subfolder either by category or by letter. I am thinking that is what is causing the problem. I just want to know if that is the case before I start reorganizing and... reorganizing. If it ain't that, put me in the right direction. Many thanks.
  7. When your tring to solder to a circuit board and you damage it don't despair most stuff up's can be fixed If you have ripped the trace off the Xbox circuit board you need to STOP and try to relax, Walk away from the job for a minute or ten or more if neaded This is the trace that is damaged and need's to be repaired. This is a pic of a undamaged PCB same location. The red wire is what was suposed to happen 1st step Clean off the paint. I cheated and used a Glass fiber pen to do that but gentley scraping the track is ok you only nead to remove the paint. 2nd Step Add flux to the board 3rd Tin the trace 4th Prep the wire you are going to use. I use wirewrap wire for a repair like this one as it's a single strand. 5th Tin and trim the wire. I should have trimed it a bit shorter 6th Lay the wire on the tinned trace and apply heat. 7th Clean up the PCB Now rince and repeat for the other end. Once you have tested it and your happy a small dob of hot melt glue or even a dob(pin head sise) of super glue to stop the wire moving. Not on the solder joint say 5 to 10mm(1/4 inch) from the solder joint.
  8. I think I damaged the X3 CE chip programmatically. I wanted to upgrade. I found the X3 Flash program. Cleaning, programming and suspension. I've restarted xbox and now I can not flash any bank. I have a backup for luck. But I do not know what to do next...
