  1. This is my last post and I will consider replacing the hard drive, but will a bad hard drive cause the game disc to not load properly at all? The only issue I be having is that when I start project Gotham racing two it won’t let me skip, but once it gets to the second part of the intro it’ll freeze until I restart the console and then start the game up again and then it’ll let me skip The in game radio and stuff will also cut out So I just wanna know y’all opinion that well a bad heart drive cause that’s even though I have the original game disc
  2. As the title says. I have a console that sometime experiences a random power down. I have left the console running for ages on its own and the power down has not happened, then I have been just flicking around in PrometheOS or XBMC4Gamers for a few moments and the console has shut down. This console has been recapped and has no issues booting up at all. However the controller I have been using has a split in the cable right at the top where it joins the cable relief before going into the controller itself. Could this cause a short that causes the console to power down. I am running Cerbios which has a button combo to power down the console and wondered if it could this that is triggering. Pic of cable split for reference... If its not this what else could it be?? I'm stumped lol EDIT - So I have narrowed it down. Its nothing to do with the controller, it only seems to happen with in either the PrometheOS dash OR XBMC4Gamers. It can happen in seconds or it can happen after 15 mins, its totally random. As a test I left the console running with a game playing for 2 hours and no power down. Leaving it on either dash will eventually power down. I have checked and XBMC shutdown timer is OFF.
  3. The xbox dvd drive is SDG-605B version B it scratches discs. Refer to discScratches.JPG the scratches are not circular. I am trying to pin point the root cause of the damage. The xbox must of been dropped. The optical pickup head must be causing the scratches but I don't see any raised sharp edges that would cause those marks. The dvd drive reads both cd's and dvd's but they get damaged in the process. The xbox original is TSOP so the only use I have for the drive is formatting the hdd. I thought I would disassemble the dvd drive and compare it to an identical drive. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1B0_VHvgu-ACzN3azkw6Aq4r6GdUQbuLW?usp=drive_link A.JPG is the dvd drive scratching discs B.JPG is a reference drive identical to A.JPG
  4. i have recently been playing xmen: legends on my hard modded xbox. this is the 1st time i have done this. i have played this game through many times and i have noticed a couple glitches that i have never seen before. this is the first time i have ever played it from the hdd on a hard modded xbox. this is also the 1st time i have ever played it through on a v1.4 xbox. most of the times in the past were on my v1.6 and once on a v1.0. both used the disc. so i'm not certain if it is that i am playing it for the 1st time from the hdd or that i'm playing from a v1.4 xbox for the 1st time. thoughts?
  5. A service installed an Aladdin xt modchip into my xbox, works perfectly, the problem I have is that if I press the power button it drops me into the official MS dash, if I hold the power button for 1 sec it takes me to the Slayers custom dash, so I can play anything. I wanted the modchip to be permanently enabled so I dont have to hold every time the power button, so I soldered two joints as shown here: This causes my xbox to turn on as soon as I plug it into the wall, even without pressing the power button, and the xbox can't be turned off. Is it a normal thing? I mean this automatic power on obviously not normal, but that one that I have to hold the power button to enter custom dash, is it normal? Or the service messed up the soldering points with the modchip on the motherboard? I have a 1.6 motherboard I guess.
  6. Hello, I bought an OG v1.1 recently and worked just fine, it came with an Aladdin (I don't know what model, but assume is an old one). The chip doesn't worked so I softmodded and left the chip in its place. After a few weeks playing the xbox simply shutdown in the middle of a Mario Party gameplay and when try to turn it on it tried to boot from the modchip (I think it activates holding the power button for a few seconds). I though it was the CPU overheating, so increase the fan potency (x3), replace the thermal paste and remove the clock capacitor finding little to no corrosion in the board but quite a few components rusted, which I cleaned. When I tried to play again it was even worse, it shutdown more often than before and when I turn it off the thing turn on again trying to boot from the modchip. Then I check for trace corrosion and there was nothing visible, but made the bypass for the 4 traces either, nothing new happened. Maybe the modchip was the problem, right? Well, no. After removing it, the only difference was that it booted normally. Then I remembered that the freaking fan was on x3, and put it back to x1, since then no more unexpected turn offs or ons, it works as good as before. I came here to ask the experts: this makes any sense at all?
  7. So, I FTPed Just Cause to my Xbox a while back, and I get audio during the main menu upon bootup, and audio during the first cutscene, but as soon as gameplay starts, the audio stops working. It's not my A/V cables because I know they're all the way in, otherwise the sound wouldn't play, nor is it the settings in-game. Any ideas on what could be causing this sound glitch? I should add, it's only Just Cause that has this issue, not my other games.
