About Me

  1. I have an NTSC import game that my PAL hard modded Xbox can't play, it just sees it as an 11mb video disc. I was under the impression any Xbox that had been modded should be able to play imports? The disc is in pretty good condition so unless there's something i'm missing i'm confused why it can't be read in my console?
  2. For some reason while trying to flash a new bios to my TSOP I got a message saying 'programming failed', and now I get no picture when my console boots and the LED flashed red and green. So i'm thinking it's bricked. I was wondering if I installed a mod chip would this then save the console? I've seen an 'Aladdin XT+4032 X2 Plus' on eBay and the installation seems very simple for these chips.
  3. hello guys i have an xbox with 80gb hard drive i have another 120gb hard drive my question is how i can replace it with the 80gb my xbox has Aladdin modchip
  4. hello guys i have an xbox 1.6 with aladdin chip i want to contact my xbox with my pc i'm using Ethernet cable from the xbox to the Ethernet hole in my pc and the xbox didn't get the ip and also my pc didn't detect my xbox so i can get the contact and contact the xbox with filezila my pc is win 10
  5. Hi can you bypass the DVD, I keep getting error 12. I have a DVD which is causing system to not boot. I swapped a DVD with my only working one and I was able to softmod. Can i use the faulty drive for the check.
  6. Hello, I bought an OG v1.1 recently and worked just fine, it came with an Aladdin (I don't know what model, but assume is an old one). The chip doesn't worked so I softmodded and left the chip in its place. After a few weeks playing the xbox simply shutdown in the middle of a Mario Party gameplay and when try to turn it on it tried to boot from the modchip (I think it activates holding the power button for a few seconds). I though it was the CPU overheating, so increase the fan potency (x3), replace the thermal paste and remove the clock capacitor finding little to no corrosion in the board but quite a few components rusted, which I cleaned. When I tried to play again it was even worse, it shutdown more often than before and when I turn it off the thing turn on again trying to boot from the modchip. Then I check for trace corrosion and there was nothing visible, but made the bypass for the 4 traces either, nothing new happened. Maybe the modchip was the problem, right? Well, no. After removing it, the only difference was that it booted normally. Then I remembered that the freaking fan was on x3, and put it back to x1, since then no more unexpected turn offs or ons, it works as good as before. I came here to ask the experts: this makes any sense at all?
  7. Hello there, I recently decided to give a second chance to my old Xbox, my parents bought it to me back in 2004 when I was 12 years old. it is a v1.0 and always has booted EvoX, even to this day, the problem is that I can't find any modchip or TSOP. Maybe it's my lack of expertise but I thought that EvoX only boot in a hardmoded machine, so where it is? And if there is no chip, how can it boot EvoX? I've already removed and cleaned the clock capacitor leak, no visible corrosion.
  8. Hi, So I've recently bought an Xbox really cheap, when I first plugged it in it worked but showed some weird behavior - it only powered on after i pressed the eject button, and today it was really hesistant to power on, i had to give it a couple of tries to get it to work. I've done some research and turns out it's a common occurrence after the clock capacitor starts rotting the board, and soon after finding out about this I've decided to open up the console and remove the capacitor. Unfortunately, it looks like this after removal of the capacitor: https://imgur.com/tY6JkXN I'm no electronics expert but i do realize that this looks very bad, yet somehow before this procedure the Xbox still worked. But the bad part is that after i tried to clean it with some isopropyl alcohol and a q-tip, a couple of these tiny black and blue squares (not even sure what these are called) literally fell off the board with barely any contact. I'm pretty sure the ones that fell off had no contact with the board whatsoever, it looks like maybe a couple of the squares next to the capacitor were already missing before i even touched them. Now - the question is, should I even risk plugging my Xbox in to see if it works, or could this cause a fire or something? Does anyone know if the tiny squares next to the clock capacitor are something related to it and not important to the console working, since some of them were missing before anyway and yet the console somehow worked?
  9. So i have a 1.6 or 1.6b xbox and i ordered a mod chip to try modding it. i see every time someone mods an xbox that have this board that they use with it. I don't have that board and want to ask if its possible to mod it without it.
  10. I am interested in something like Qwix or C-xbox tool but which also allows me to use an ACL file for the chosen xbe. As far as I know ACLs are only used with DVD2XBOX (which can use the context menu on extracted XBEs in its file explorer to process with ACL files, for anyone looking for that functionality).
  11. Thank you in advance for any and all help provided, I was fortunate to have come across a X3 chip along with a X3 LCD Face plate. But my XBOX is TSOP, I haven't came across on the "how to" remove the TSOP instructions. Is this a possibility? My xbox is a v1.0 or v1.4(not a v1.6) I have ind bios. I don't think I made a backup of my EEPROM when I did the TSOP, not sure if this is relevant to this.
  12. So I just slimmed my first xbox. I like it; but it leaves me wondering how slim can I go? I got a couple GPU fan/heatsinks for the GPU/CPU. I plan on doing a custom PSU with a pico atx PSU (that can supply 10A on the 5V rail) Will have to do something with the front buttons (not quite sure yet) Was thinking of cutting the case right down to where the controller ports mount (rather than the strip where the DVD drive would be). Has anyone done anything like this? I know people have put motherboards into custom cases; just wondering if anyone knows of a slimmed xbox beyond the norm that has been done? Thanks
  13. Hi there, My 1.6 og xbox won't softmod. I tried Splinter Cell (Error 21) and 007 (reboot). It runs fine otherwise. I was browsing the internal memory via MS Dashboard today when I came across a strange itrem, called NkPatcher. I suppose the xbox has been softmodded then brought back to MS standard. Any idea on how I could re-softmod it? Or why any previous (maybe failed) attempt would prevent me to re-softmod it? TIA Serge
  14. Hi, I’m new to anything to do with mod chips on the original Xbox so my apologies if I sound like a complete noobie. I recently purchased a Xbox of Facebook market place that has a DuoX2 (blue) mod chip installed. When the console boots is has like a green logo in the top left and Slayers 2.7 underneath the Xbox logo at the bottom of the screen (I’ll add a photo to explain what I’m talking about). Then it boots into evolutionX dashboard I believe. I’ve dabbled with soft modded Xboxes before and wanted to take a crack at a mod chipped one but I’m worried I’ll brick the console if I just try and re flash bios and install a new dashboard. So long story short, is it possible to update the bios on the mod chip to someone a little more recent like EvoX M8 or something? The Xbox is 1.4 console. I opened it and cleaned the console of dust and re did the thermal paste and fixed the DVD belt prior to wanting to update the dashboard and mod chips Bios. any help is much appreciated. Kind Regards, Karl
  15. Hi so I would love to play any games I can in 720 on the XBOX I recently hardmodded . Ver 1.6 Alladin xt 2 + chip stock HD . I have figured out how to play XBOX games in HD using XBMC for Gamers and was not able to play my KIXXX in 720 even though the setting are there. I select the option but it doesn't seem to "stick" as the resolution looks low. Maybe I cant play In 720 I don't know what I can and can't do with my basic setup. What are my limitations? Thanks.
  16. So, I'd like to be able to retain the original Xbox experience as faithfully as possible, but I also want to acquire some of the otherwise-unobtainable DLC for games like Halo 2 and Ninja Gaiden. Theoretically, would I be able to install a software mod, add the DLC for those games, and then uninstall it? For the record, I do have the actual discs for all of the games I want to play.
  17. I updated two games, counter strike and mech assualt. As expected my trainers no longer work with the game updates. my xbox is soft modded and i can access the hdd via ftp. How can I go about removing them? thank you in advance for any help, it is appreciated.
  18. the 3 main caps behind the heatsinks, can they cause damage? i recently saw 3 of those caps have around 8,000uf(they're suppose to be 3300uf) and i'm wondering if that can damage a processor? it's making me wonder if i should recap some xbox's just to prevent damage.
  19. i know that ninja gaiden black had some of the extra content and updates but it didn't have it all. how can i get this content now?
  20. google was very unhelpful. does anyone here know?
  21. i pulled one of these caps out of the board to test it. can someone look at the images and tell me if the caps are ok? fyi, i had to compress them to upload here. compressjpeg.zip
  22. i just got my alladin chip w/ pin header and want to install it on a coma 1.0 xbox. can anyone give me a youtube link for the installation? all the vids i have found are for the 1.6 and it is different. what's a DO btw?
  23. Hello i have a xbox with a almost dead hard drive and a dvd drive that works barely. The previous owner performed a tsop very long ago and that's why i believe that i can boot to hexen without the hard drive, also i saw some solder residue on the pads to unlock the bios protection. (Cleaned the old solder and bridged the points again) I have a 1.4 with a Windbond and focus chip, the main problem that i have is that i can't move the options in the Gentoox because my only working controller seems to be a fake controller or at least the original pcb was replaced with a generic one, someone told me on the Xbox-hq forums that i can just drop the bios file on C:/Bios . Can i boot HEXEN and ftp the bios file from there? Also what bios do you recommend? I can't decide beetween evo m8 or iND-BiOS.5004.67 Thanks for your time.
  24. Hi all, I am new to the Xbox modding scene and I just finished bridging my 1.4 Xbox. Next step is to flash the bios but I wanted to run the Xbox Bios Checker, but can't seem to find a download site. Where can I find the latest version of Bios Checker? Thank you.
