  1. I've just tried to install the chip using this guide: https://consolemods.org/wiki/Xbox:Aladdin More precisely I soldered the pin header and the 3.3V, LAD0, LAD1, LAD2 and LAD3. I made a blunder and ruined the trace by R7P4, so needed to reroute it. I would have routed through the hole at the chip pin, but the hole had solder in it that I haven't been able to remove, so I resorted to the hideous mess you can see on the picture. I have checked all the connections with a multimeter. There is 3.3 on pin9. LAD1-3) I have checked as much as I could by putting one of the multimeter probes on the tip of the pin and the other on a point on the trace that is not the solder point directly. In other words, I am reasonably sure that the soldering is "ok" I also cut the L trace because the MrMario2011 video said so. But when I booted only a black screen would show and FRAG. So I restored the L trace to be able to boot into stock BIOS. Now I can only boot into stock. Am I missing something? Have I done something wrong? What can I check? The chip lights red whenever power is plugged into the xbox. I noticed that if I put the chip in with the BT not soldered on the chip the led would dim slightly whenever the xbox was turned on. After I soldering it, it would not dim. Don't know if it means anything. Just mentioning it.
  2. Greetings all! First time posting anything but have gathered a lot of great tips and fixes from this forum for a few years now. This problem has me stumped though. Here’s the situation: The xbox boots fine to the ms dash. I can access the hdd, copy saves to memory unit (or usb via adapter), browse settings, etc. The eject button on the dvd player just flashes green. There’s no disc in the drive, it doesn’t make any horrible noises, it won’t open, and there’s nothing impeding it from opening. I took it apart, removed a lot of dust et al, cleaned the laser, checked to see that the manual eject via the release button worked, double checked the tray side rails, etc. Everything looked normal. Reassembled and had the same problem listed above. I put in a known good drive and that remedied the non stop green light flashing so I thought I’d figured out the issue. I go to test a disc and the known good drive starts to not eject or close intermittently. Additionally it won’t do anything with the disc. If I put a few known good and un scratched games it the drive just flashes green forever. It never gives a dirty disc type error or anything and again this is a drive I know works (tested it right before I pulled it out and put it for test in the current Xbox). I’m stumped. I thought about changing out power and ide just to see. Swapped out two known good AV cables just for grins. No effect. Nothing on the MB looks bulging and I can’t see and trace rot,etc on the top at least. Any ideas? Thank you, MaGee
  3. I have an Xbox with an Xecuter 3, X3CP, and the daughterboards for the controller port and front panel PCB, booting from the chip requires pressing the eject button but I have a couple of problems with this: - Booting with the eject button causes Cerbios to boot into safemode and not display any boot animation - Opening the disc tray each start up puts unnecessary wear on it, that's something I'd like to avoid I hardly have any experience with the X3, is there a way to enable the chip no matter what button powers the console on, or a way to switch which button enables it? I'd prefer to keep the ability to boot to the backup image
  4. This is happening on a stock console btw, I've read that the Microsoft logo appearing indicates an XBE has been found to launch so it's more likely to be something besides the HDD, there's no error code or change in LED color. I could put a chip in it and see what happens but maybe someone else who's seen this before could share their experience and save me some time.
  5. Hi everyone, I'm struggeling a bit with the softmod setting from OGXbox 2021 Softmode installation on my Box. Softmode installation works like charm. Afterward i used the "install single Dashbord" installer to install XBMC (to e:\xbmc as default) and i agree to use XBMC as my default dashboard. So far so pretty ... after the reboot, XMBC starts, all fine, but ... When i manuelly install xbmc-emustation (from source package) to f:\XBMC-Emustation, my box always boots up from XBMC-Emustation and not from XBMC. Same for XBMC4Gamers (f:\XBMC4Gamers). How can I change ?? Rework with Installer DVD is not working (change default dashboard). What did i miss ?? Thanks !!
  6. Im looking for some ideas to try before I look for a replacement xbox. Im not sure if i can do anything else at this point. My xbox was soft modded for some time, but I wanted to do a tsop to unlock the drive and then put in a 2.5 inch 500 gb sata drive. I did the tsop (i have a v1.5) soldered the 2 point and flashed the tsop with hexen 2021 disc. Put in my sata driver with adpater and 80 pin cable and everything was great. I started uploaded the library that i have. I also removed the supercap. I was down to my really scrached discs and was trying to see i could get good copies from them, but gave up. I picked up some new titles and went to install them and the xbox wouldnt boot. I get the evo/xbox splash screen to a blank screen with the orange led. Tried booting hexen or soft mod or game disc and nothing. I tried cleaning out the dvd drive, that didnt help. The last thing i did with the drive was watch it with the cover off. It doesnt appear to be trying to focus nor does it appear to be emitting a laser. It does move the laser head unit on the rails. But i dont think this should stop a boot to harddrive? I went back to the ide drive and the 40 pin cable and no change. I tried combinations of hooking up pc cdrom to the ide and dvd on the power. Thought maybe the dvd drive was corrupting the ide bus. Ive checked my caps and board multiple times. The only thing i was suspicious of was a pin point spot on the nvidia chip, i hope it didnt melt itself inside. So thats where im at, i think my dvd is toast and maybe the ide on the motherboard is broken.
  7. Hi all, First post here. Have my soft modded OG xbox that I have had for probably 18 years. Has a 120GB HDD in it, and I use it mostly for Mame at this point. Just last evening, it started doing something very strange. It boots up OK, I get the factory boot animation, "Matrix Inside", etc, but then when it transitions to the EVO-X menu, the screen only updates what looks like a frame every 2 seconds. It will slloooooowly fade in the EVO-X menu, then I can hold "down" on the controller and it will slooooowly move from one menu entry to the next. It's almost unusable. Once I start an app, everything is OK. For example, Mame works fine. It just literally takes 5-10 minutes to get through the menu to start it up. It has been probably 15 years since I have messed with this thing, as far as modifying anything. Anyone have any suggestion as to what might be going on?
  8. Hi everyone, i have an xbox with a strange issue. i soldered the tsop, one i had to do alternative soldering because the tin went of the 2 points. it boots once when the board doesnt have power for a while, then it freezes when loading hexen. sometimes it doesnt even turn on, it powers on, beeps, powers off, beeps and red and green lights pulse. i didnt even flash it yet. could removing the clock cap cause this issue?
  9. So, I took the unit apart (DVD Drive) and it looked in fairly good condition. I lightly blew it out with compressed air and cleaned the lens with alcohol (91%). The drive is a Thomson TGM600. That didn't fix the problem. Any recommended next steps? Thanks.
