Hi guys, i have an openxenium with latest OS and cerbios 2.3.0 mounted on a 1.6 xbox and it works fine. When i place the modchip into my 1.4 xbox it won't boot (it frags). D0 is connected to the correct point on the motherboard. I believe cerbios 2.3.0 is an all xbox version ?. Should i flash a 1.4 bios into it with the launch menu ?. I also have a duo x modchip and That one boots fine.(on the 1.4 board) I am puzzled ,can it be a poor connection on one off the lpc header pins ? Somebody can give me advice ? Thanks.

Hi all, First of all, I'd like to thank Rocky5 and all involved in the softmodding tool, that really is a painless way to softmod. 18 years ago I was reading unofficial magazines on Xbox mods and was baffled by all that's possible and I'm glad I can start doing similar stuff thanks to you! I'm seeking help in the following problem, I posted this on Reddit but maybe you guys will have a better idea of what's going on here. I have seen several topics with the same problems over different boards but have yet to find a solution. I hope you guys don't mind. I've been stuck on this for the past few days. I'm trying to clone my hard drive (Seagate ST310211A, the 10GB one). I've tried using a WD3200AAJS, which was listed as working on x-pecs by multiple accounts, but haven't had luck as it returns Error 11 (missing/malfunctioning dvd drive). I know for a fact the drive is fine because when I plug everything back together with the stock drive, the console boots properly. Now, the WD is rated for 0.68A at 5v and 12v, so I looked up the current rating for the stock Seagate, which is here : Since the WD was quite a bit higher I took another hard drive I had lying around (Hitachi HTB-DS7AE100(B) ). Now I hadn't seen anything telling me this drive would be lockable or anything but I gave it a try nonetheless. Chimp recognized it fine and the clone went smoothly and it locked okay. The drive is rated for 0.42A for both 5 and 12v, so I thought it'd work better now. Still no luck as I get error 11 again. I do have a new 80 wire 40 pin cable, and am using the startech adaptor. The cable works fine with the stock drive, and the startech adaptor has good reputation, so I'm really at a loss here. Jumper switched back from slave to master (forgot it once and had error 7 this time). Can it be the hard drive drawing too much current and not leaving enough for the dvd drive? Dvd drive tray opens and closes even with error 11, everything's plugged in tight. I'm really at a loss here so any help is greatly appreciated, even if it's just 'buy this HDD, it works fine with the startech adaptor' !

hi so i have an xbox 1.0 with a xecuter 2.6 chip installed i get an error 16 on boot but when i try to boot truhexen 2020 i end up with a frag light (might have orange too) after it displays "Linux" any ideas to boot it? has a thompson drive btw

Thanks for your time and any help you fine folks can provide. Here's what I got, and here's some symptoms and our current situation. 2020 bought TSOP'd V1.1 from a nice gent on ebay. It worked fine for the past two years, then recently encountered problems. IND bios, UnleashX Ver:0.39.0.222A Build 572, Kernel 1.0.5003.67, MS dash Kernel: 1.00.5003.67 D:1.00.5659.03, Upgraded HDD to Seagate Barracuda 750gb upon purchase, reapplied thermal paste to heatsinks/chips, clock cap was removed by seller. This xbox is my brothers, so the symptoms aren't first hand, but described as best as he could to me. I have the original HDD around still. Last 2 months, symptoms: Occasional freezing while watching videos on XBMC. Reboot would seem to allow playback. Error message about the skin not functioning properly, so he changed to another skin and seemed to solve that issue. Occasional freezing during game play with Halo (1 or 2, can't remember), the last freeze had a few purple bars in the video output (someone suggested that the lines/bars reminded them of GPU issues they experienced with older computer repairs they did in the past) No boot, current situation: IND Bios logo shows up but nothing more. It stays on the IND screen indefinitely while both of the heat sinks get very hot. (Aside from the heat, it reminds me of bad memory issues with computers not booting. I've never got any screen activity with bad RAM though, so when the IND screen shows, it makes me think that RAM may not be the issue.) Actions taken: Opened xbox and removed HDD and CD drive, attempted startup but no change in results. Found three caps in front of large heat sink bulging. Replaced with same value caps from a parts xbox, no change in results. Redid thermal paste on heatsinks, no change in results. Disconnected front USB cables(wire connectors to controller ports). So just the PSU, fan, and power/eject connectors still attached but no change in results. FTP timed-out, no change in results. No other obvious defects, but my eyes may be getting aged and I could be missing something. But generally, I dont see anything burnt, no other visually bad caps, PSU seems to be working regularly. I'm not familiar with the TSOP process, just the plain jane softmod. Is it possible to redo the TSOP, or is this sounding like a hardware issue to you folks? My brothers and cousins love coming over to get system link going, so being down a box is a bit annoying and we may be losing some saves and profiles that I'm not able to FTP off. Any help or pointers is greatly appreciated.

Found two X-boxes in the trash, one booted fine (2002 model), the other not (2005). The one that did not start had a USB-port sticking out on a cable on the right side - so mod of some kind Cecking... it has a homemade fan hack (edges cut off a larger fan to fit it and taking power from harddrive connector), USB connector in parallel with control port 4 and a DUO X2 chip hooked to a defective three step ON-ON-ON switch button on the back. It doesn't say GS on the main chip (it's a three IC version with 29F080 flash) - like the one I found here. Found installation instructions for the DuoX2, understood that this is a v1.6 board, chip seemed to be installed OK, fixed the switch - which seems to require just a plain single pole ON-ON version with three wires - the other three pads on the original switch aren't hooked up to function as far as I can see - unless it's some very special original switch. Seems very likely it just shifts the top address-pin on or off - but I didn't check. Had the chip out, Xbox started normally, could start a game (thrown with it), harddrive had saved games, also found out that it should start normally when starting it with the eject button - yes, it did. If having the switch in one position I get three restarts that ends with flashing ring yellow/red. Ejecting still works, DuoX2 flashes steadily red once per second or so. In the other position DuoX2 flashes and eject LEDs are constant green for about 15s then turns to red flashing. If pressing eject the disc stops (if any) but the disc stays in (not ejecting). It seems it's trying to read the disc but nothing interesting happens. Tried downloading and burning "TruHeXen 2021.iso" to DVD-R with imgBurn. Before I waste the entire stock of DVD-R burning them in different ways, is there a trick to start it or should it boot on any Xbox? Scrolling through the iso in a hexeditor seems to give the impression it's legit. I lifted a png from the .iso - says Heimdall's Xbox Engineering Disc 2021 with a metal frame and a screw in each corner. Also fetched TrueHeXen2020.iso - same in 7zip, also has nothing to show if mounted in Windows. I'm thinking flash chip is messed up and perhaps it can be flashed to a working state...? I can desolder it and program it/check it with an eprom-programmer - if I have something to put in there. I can make a reinstall of the chip as well - if that's a plausible problem - looked OK though, don't know what problems might be hidden though. Any ideas? Thanks.

For some reason when I turn on the Xbox I am greeted with the error code 05 (unlocked hard drive). But I thought an unlocked hard drive was usable with a mod chip installed? - Re-soldered the wires from the D0 point, BT point mod chip flashed red, BT is joined to the mod chip so it is always on. Despite all of this the Xbox boots up displaying the error code 05. and no sign of the chip working its magic. Thanks, Pez.

My setup: -Xbox 1.6 -Aladin modchip -500gb sata hdd -adapter sata ide pretty new and funcitonal -truHexen2021 boot disc, booting just fine After i've managed to install everything with the boot disc, the console hangs in evox logo. If boot with the disc, it loads ok. Steps: -Boot disc, prompt "new hdd", formated -Hdd tools, formated again with xbpartitioner 1.3, leaving only f partition 430gb~ -Created only F partition, not g. -Install dashboard: xbmc4gamers: prompt: use as main one? Answer: Yes (on f partition) -Clear cache, check if f is created on file manager, apps folder ok, xbmc4gamers ok. -Took off the disc -Boot xbox -Evox logo hang screen. microsoft text below the screen Did I miss something? Hello, I am new here so apologies if I'm posting this on the wrong forum. I am currently running a v1.6 Xbox with Rocky5's Softmod (v1.1.7) and XBMC4Gamers and am met with a black screen when booting the game 007: Everything or Nothing from my HDD while using component cables. My legitimate NTSC copy of the game was ripped to my HDD via dvd2xbox (with ACL processing enabled) and I have enabled Force Progressive video mode via the NKPatcher settings (followed by a reboot). I have attempted to boot the game while the following resolutions have been enabled on my console: 480p (y) 720 (y) 1080i (n) 480p (y) 720 (y) 1080i (y) However, neither of these configurations seems to result in the game displaying properly. If anyone has any troubleshooting ideas, I would be greatly appreciative. Thank you.

Hi, I need some help please. After the death of my beloved xbox v1.0 I decided to get a new one, I get a 2002 with motherboard V1.1 and Aladdin XT installed. The console starts and switches off 2 times and then boots normally. By holding down the power button for a few seconds I was sometimes able to start the change. I thought it was faulty and ordered another brand new Aladdin xt plus 2(fake). i notice my old owner had soldered the pins out the mod directly on aladdin main and wired the wires H0 L1 BT D0. it seemed strange to me that it did not use the socket available on the small aladdin board. I then cleaned everything, removed the welds and tried the main and to my amazement it does not start and always cycles on off and then remains on without an image and the LED flashes red. I mount the chip and send D0 to ground and the console magically starts at the first shot without starting the mod, although I set the BT to ground to always leave the mod ON. why does he behave like this? I checked the pins and everything seems okay, the soldering too. I guess it's a motherboard problem right? can you help me please, I really want to make it work again. grazie mille Pietro

Hello! My setup I have been running XBMC-Emustation dash on my V1.6 Xbox with a WD2500JB IDE drive ... the system was soft modded using Xbox-Softmodding-Tool. Both tools created by @Rocky5 https://github.com/Rocky5/ I want to update my storage and have both a 2TB WD20EARS and a 3TB WD30EFRX. I purchased the following ribbon and PATA>SATA off Amazon: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EOJNGC2 https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B073CKHX7X (I bought two of each; I upgraded my brother's OG Xbox as well using a 1TB WD Blue drive... don't have the exact model in front of me ... but the ribbon and PATA>SATA worked amazing.) The Issue After loading the initial Xbox green splash screen, I am not booted into the Dashboard. Instead, the screen goes black and it just hangs. I've found I can open/close the DVD tray and THEN it will boot the dashboard. I've also noticed the speed is slower in both the initial splash screen and the loading of the dashboard itself (after I manually open/close the DVD tray to get the dashboard to load). Again, tested with both the 2TB and 3TB drives Things I've Tried Re-softmodding the system Both 2TB and 3TB drives Different default Dashboard (UnleashX) Additional StarTech adaptor Additional 80 pin IDE cable ... Anyone's input would be appreciated!

webwxgetvideo.mp4 It can be boot without hard disk. I can see EVO mark at the left top. And I got the 09 error. If the hard disk was conected. when I reboot the console, The xbox will be frozen at the start-screen. I try to change more cable and hard disk. Still not resolved. Please kindly help me to find this issue root casue.

hi all i have a softmodded xbox that is my backup xbox ive bin trying to work out the issue for sum time with no luck hopeing sum one knows what is the prob my xbox will not boot all games sum load but the rast kick me back to dash after i try loading only noiced it on game all apps ive tryed load fine i can tell if a games not going to load as insted of the game pic on the games menu it just shows a green plan image and this go's for loading off the HDD and offical disc and backup disc

My Xbox is not modded in any way. It has composite cables as well. My Xbox will occasionally boot up games normally but most of the time it boots up every game with only the audio. I saw a post on a forum a while ago about how to easily fix this, but I can no longer seem to find it.

Hi everyone I've found that one of my old xbox is not working anymore when i try to boot it is making a weird sound and goes off, anyone know what could be the problem? maybe a power supply issue? I purchased a second hand XBox from eBay. The console came with an Aladdin Advance mod-chip already installed. This chip looks different to other "Aladdin" chips in that it doesn't have the 12-pin female header. Where that socket is on other chips of this kind there is a unpolluted area labelled "FLASH". I don't think this console was ever used for anything else other than playing copied games, as it was running on the stock Dashboard, and still had the 8GB HDD installed. Even when the EvoX mode was initialised by holding the power button to turn on the chip, the console still booted to the stock Dashboard. To cut a long story short, I opened the console up to remove the clock capacitor, and give the console a general clean, and I accidental knocked off the wire going from L2 to the IDE socket, at the socket side. To be honest, the soldering was extremely bad, and looked like it had been done in a rush by someone who had very little idea of what they were doing. I promptly repaired the loosens wire, and as the soldering attaching the chip to the motherboard was a very bad job also, I decided to add some solder to the points to reinforce them a little. I personally don't like the 'quick-solder' pads much, but that's how this chip had been installed. And as I mentioned there is no header socket at all. However, on reassembling the console, it won't boot. Neither into EvoX mode or 'stock'. The way this chip was set up was to hold the power button to activate it. But that isn't working either. All that happens is the console powers on, then off, on again, and off a second time and when it powers on for the third time (all of this is automatically on it's own) the console doesn't display anything on screen (although I do hear a normal 'click' of the speakers when the power comes on) and the consoles LEDs are alternating red and green. Which, from what I read is a bad BIOS read. I don't understand why though, as I haven't done anything to the BIOS. I did load up Hexen 2018, and went into the flashing options, but I didn't actually do a flash, because I didn't know what the chip was at the time, I thought it best to see what I was going to flash to first. This also installed the EvolutonX Dashboard automatically, which did work okay at first. I really don't know what has happened, but I have now done some damage to the chip itself in trying to find some way of getting the console to boot. There is a surface mounted capacitor right next to the LPC labelled "C7D2", which I must have accidentally touched with the tip of my iron, as there is a little 'spike' of fresh solder on it. Is it plausible that I have damaged this capacitor, and that is what's causing the console to fail to boot? If so, can I bypass this capacitor, or replace it? As I said, with all of the soldering and desolating I have ruined most of the 'quick-solder' pads on the chip now. As such I have ordered an Aladdin XT PLUS2 from eBay, but it's coming from China, so it's not going to be here for a few weeks. But as the console doesn't boot at all, with or without the chip installed, I am wondering if a new chip would actually make a difference. Because I haven't mentioned it above; it's a 1.0 XBox. I have even tried completely removing the chip altogether, which is how the console is right now. Yet, it still refuses to do anything other than what I described above. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I really don't like the idea that I've killed the console. I could obtain another, sure, but I would like to try and repair this one if I can. I dislike giving up on things if there is still a chance I can fix it.

Hey guys, I've had issues with my xbox for quite some time now. It is a 1.1, 128mb, TSOP flashed with Ind-Bios. Many games wouldn't boot, no matter what, tried different sources, settings whatsoever. Some games gave me a direct black screen when trying to run, some would boot but then lock up on the loading screen. So today I tried running Hexen2018 from the download section here from my hdd, but as i wasn't sure which bios to flash i chickened out and exited without doing anything. To my suprise my xbox no longer booted into XBMC4Gamers, but into unleashX, the first two times without showing the IND-BIOS boot up. As obviously something had changed I tried to run some of the games that hung on a black screen before, and suddenly they worked. The other games that hung on loading screen still didn't work, but I was glad Halo finally booted on me, as I wanted to play it for ages. But after a couple of reboots, the IND-BIOS bootup reappeared and my xbox started showing the same behavior as before. Halo gave me a black screen again, as five minutes before it was working. Anyone knows what might be the problem here? Do I need to reflash my BIOS maybe or use some other?

I've got a tsop flashed v1.4 xbox with a 2 terabyte drive installed using a Startech IDE to Sata converter. After the initial Evox Xbox boot screen it takes a little over a minute to boot up into Unleash X. Is this normal or am I missing something? Thanks

A while ago I had a version 1.0 box fail to boot intermittently and every time I moved the hard disk it would come good. The drive is a WD 500 gig Pata/Ide drive. I closed the power connectors in the molex plug and swapped the 40 way cable still the same. As I had nothing to lose I removed the PCB thinking it had dry solder joints on the power and 40 way connectors but I noticed the contacts for the heads and spindle motor are tarnished. A quick clean of the PCB and spring contacts with iso-propyol alcohol and reassemble and it has not missed a beat since (3 weeks and still going and before it was every 2nd day) I now have a Seagate 1tb from a desk computer with the same symptoms and after removing the PCB it looks the same. This drive is 2 years old and has had a max of 1.8tb data transferred to and from it so bugger all. and 1/3 for that was rescuing the data from it Something to keep in mind for intermittent drive problems.
