About Me

  1. I've noticed something when I turn on my Xbox. It does the initial 'flubber' xbox animation when I turn it on, however it sits there for quite some time (maybe at least a good minute) before it moves on. Now normally it would do the xbox animation screen and the word 'microsoft' in white letters pop up indicating it's good to go and proceed to a dashboard. Mine now is doing the animation and sits there for a while, longer than normal, before I get the microsoft text and it goes to the dash. Additionally it isn't showing the XBMC Emustation title screen before it jumps into XBMC Emustation either like it did before. Again, normally it would show a XBMC Emustation title screen before it went into Emustation. So my xbox does this -> turns on / does xbox animation -> hangs for a bit before microsoft text pops up -> takes a while on blank screen -> eventually loads up XBMC Emustation On my other xbox it goes -> turns on / animation -> instantly does microsoft text -> quickly shows XBMC Emustation title / splash screen -> goes right into XBMC Emustation Any ideas on what is going on and what I can do to resolve this? XBMC Emustation is loaded on E: and all roms/media/etc are on F:
  2. After a recent discussion on the Xbox-Scene Discord regarding boot times i thought id start a topic here on the subject My X3 2tb Xbox was taking almost a full minute to get from power on to being able to control the cursor in the dashboard. Heres my specs, 1.0 xbox with X3 chip Latest X3 bios is the usual bios used on this machine so thats what was used for testing. (Did some tests with Cerbios 2.0.2 with UDMA5 enabled, boot time results were exactly the same. BUT speed benefits were seen when loading games) 2Tb Seagate Barracuda 7200rpm hdd, Full USA set plus PAL Exclusives and playable Jap exclusives. Startech IDE2SATA Adapter Generic 80wire IDE cable from Amazon. (the common yellow one) I managed to get my boot time down to about 26 secs by doing the following. Switched of the Flubber anim completely using X3 config live Updating XBMC4Gamers to the latest AND ensuring that "Skip Scanning" was enabled Im happy with 26 secs as I think the only other way i could make it quicker is to use remove some content from my hdd or use a smaller one Who out there has the quickest booting xbox??????
  3. I went and tried to move files around so I could be xbmc emustation on drive E as I had it on F. Now when I boot up the xbox I get a fatal error message "special://masterprofile/guisettings.xml, Line 0 failed to open file" Now am I completely ruined or can I just somehow boot back to a dashboard and reinstall xbmc emustation?
  4. Hello there, I'm hoping to receive some help from you fine experts. First time modding an Xbox and unfortunately I think I made a blunder. Ended up with a service required error 21 screen and discs will not boot. After softmodding with Rocky5's tools I copied over Xblast OS and Cerbios to my C drive. Now the C drive partition was extremely small and wouldn't fit the bios bin so I temporarily removed what looked like some Japanese language files, I suspect this is why I'm receiving the error. Didn't have a mod disc, plan was to just FTP everything over. Was attempting a TSOP for the first time, and I had a Sharp model motherboard so I tried once and got no boot then decided to undo my bridges and just go the modchip route. I should also mention I recapped the CPU and removed the clock capacitor, I don't think this would cause such an error but other people might know better. So after undoing my TSOP bridges I was met with the error screen, whoops. So trying to salvage this, I don't have really any spare parts to try swapping, I suspect the route forward is to buy an IDE interface for my PC to reformat the HDD. Or would it be possible to just install a modchip at this point since I intend to install a large sata drive anyways. I did backup the eeprom and nullify the hdd key as well. Any advice/words of wisdom on how to proceed greatly appreciated. Thanks.
  5. Hi, I'm trying to repair my xbox v1.6 with a Delta 220v PSU because it doesn't power on at all(even the fan isn't spinning). Backstory: the xbox stopped working all of a sudden(it worked just the day before even with the leaked/bulging caps), so thinking that maybe the power and eject buttons got broken, I tried to turn it on by shorting the SW1 Eject or SW2 Power(I can't remember which) to GND according to this diagram of the front panel connector. I don't think this was a good idea since the xbox didn't turn on and I heard a small spark but I'm not totally sure. Now from the PSU, not plugged into the motherboard(so in stand-by I guess), I get a ~5v reading from the orange wires but 0.1v from the blue wire(which should be 3.3v even on stand-by according to this table) and ~0 volts from the other 3.3v and 12v rail as it should be. Moving on to the motherboard, after removing all the bad capacitors, I still get a short between the 5v rail and ground(measuring the pins of psu connector on the motherboard). I also tried measuring the caps under the CPU(starting from C2P1 to C2P17) and they're all shorted to ground. The caps C2E2 and C1E1 too. Also, measuring the VRM(?) FAN5059M I'm getting a short on the pins(apart from GND) 2_SW, 6_VID2, 8_VID0, 20_VFP. All this leds me to believe that the CPU is fried but I can't really wrap my head around how I could have done that, is there something I'm missing/misunderstanding? 6. I softmodded a 1.6, and a larger HDD ordered and on it's way. I'm having company over tomorrow, and realized after using XBpartitioner-1.3 to prepare for HDD upgrade (thinking I'd be simply saving that step of partitioning later), I had an F partition that wasn't large enough to hold a single game (2,500mb). Whereas, had I not partitioned F drive, I would have kept 9,500mb free on E partition (enough for a game or two). Man, hindsight... but I just went back into XBpartitioner-1.3, deleted the F partition and added it to E. Upon restart I now get MS error 21 . I now realize, that in changing partitions, I most likely formatted them to rearange stuff. I just didn't think it out in the moment, I should have just waited for the new HDD to arrive, or just robbed a smaller-then-the-ordered-one from the "old electronics shelf" in the basement.... Luckily I had FTP'd C and E partitioned to my PC, so I have copies of what it should be. But since i can't boot up, I don't see how I can access it to FTP those backups. I'm thinking I have to boot from CD, maybe Hexen, and try that way somehow? I just can't seem to have it assign an IP. I've tried DHCP and Static, manually typed in the IP, but at the top of the "Network Settings" it shows "Current IP" as 0.0.0.0 . I can however, browse the files, and there's only one folder on E now, UDATA... Through file explorer ont he xbox, I found some config files and an evoxdash.xbe, copied said files over to the E drive. It now boots up to EVOX, but I still can't FTP and there's no options that seem to help. Then I decided to try running the Hexen option to install softmod of Kingroach and start from (what I think is) scratch. But alas, I'm still getting error 21 Then I tried Krayzie's install, and things seemed to be working as it install unleashX. After following the promt once isntal was complete, to remove the CD and reboot, it now reboots to Evox with only 2 slections "Launch Disc" and "System settings"(which is more for info, no settings that offer anything different then I've encounter yet). Man I kept diggin a hole. things kept booting to evox with no options that helped, so i went back and forth with Hexen to get into file explorer and figure out why evox was loading and not unleashX (which was present on E). I figured it was something on C partition after I wiped E yet Evox would still boot. So i went back into Hexen file explorer and removed some of the things on C that I thought were directing the show to Evox. I compared files between my previous backups on the working HDD to make sure I wasn't deleting important stuff, but apparently I had because Hexen/CD drive won't load anymore. On reboots/shutdowns when thing boot up it goes to the error screen, hexen won't load. GD I should have jsut waited for that damn HDD!!!! Any ideas now? (XBOX #6 Fancy)
  7. Im quite embarassed to have to admit this, but im finding some of this modding stuff quite difficult dispite being an electrical/electronic engineer and have worked as a technician a various roles for over 30 years.Maybe its my age?I have got myself in a jam, I wanted to remove xbmc emustation and go back to unleash (sorry) but i was struggling to get emustation to work.Ive ended up with the Fatal error msg. (XBMC Fatal Error:No suitable skin version foundWe require at least version 2.1000IP Address: 192.168.0.6Starting FTP server...)Further more prior to this, i have been struggling to make a ISO image of extras disc.everytime ive downloaded it from git hub 613mb, when i try to unzip it i get an error msg from winzip?also if i try to make an ISO image and open zip file with imgburn or similar the folder appears to be empty?what am i doing wrong?from the XBMC Fatal error screen, can i just drag and drop something to rescue this from pcp using FTP client.I want to weep!!!! Paul B aka Masterbateson p.s. Just found out there is a slight fly in my ointment, in as much as when i fished out my laptops DVD drive, i found out its only a ROM so untill i can sort something out I cant burn a disc.I was kinda hoping I could FTP the missing files to the HDD or boot from my Memory stick, i was hoping like when ive recovered a pc b4 using a recovery image on a usb drive.Guess Xbob doesnt play like that.suppose im going to have to find somewhere to burn a disc, annoying thing is Ive several old full size dvd re writers kicking about in the attic. Thanks again for help, will sort disc out 1st b4 i try anything else.cheersMrB
  8. Why does NFS freeze on this xbox and not from the one i ftp over .. what does it need tot boot up?
  9. I have this 1.4 Xbox that I've been tinkering with trying to being it back to life. I have plenty of other MBs so this has been more of a journey project more than the need to have a working board. The board initially would flash red. I took out the eeprom and it wouldn't read stable. I replaced it with a new chip and flashed it with a few different images finally settling on an image of another 1.4 that works. It now boots to a black image with a solid green light no fraging. So I ripped out the tsop and it also is awful, it has a few hundred unstable bits. So I decided to just install a modchip. Installed an openxenium and was able to boot into xeniumos! There was horrible diagonal lines that looked like interferance that would progressively get worse until there was major graphical glitches. I saw power issues could cause problems so I replaced the power caps below the CPU. Problem persisted. Replaced the powersupply, everything looks clean. Flashed M8+ onto the Modchip go to load it and the screen goes blank. Any ideas for things to try would be appreciated. Thank you
  10. I‘m new to the Xbox modding scene and i have a problem with unleashx dashboard. I installed a 500GB WD HDD in my 1.4 Xbox with Aladdin XT Plus 2 modchip. As setup/boot disc i used TruHexen 2021 out of the Forum. It recognizes the new HDD without problems and did format it perfectly. I installed the unleashx dashboarb, and rebootet. The console is booting until the point where the big X with the Xbox writing under it. After a few seconds Microsoft pops up under the Xbox logo. But then it looks like it is doing nothing. (I let it try for a few minutes, if its a slow bootup.) So have redone everything. I installed everything again with the TruHexen 2021 disc. But this time, i let it install every dashboard. I tried every single one. (avalaunch, evolution X etc.) They all work fine! Only unleashx wont boot with the same problems as is described bevore….. What could be the problem here/ is there a solution?
  11. Hi, I found a 1.6 Xbox with an Aladdin modchip in dual boot (EvoX purple logo in the top left corner when I long press the power button). It booted an old version of xbmc, so I decided to use OGXbox Installer 2021 1.5.4 PBL (the latest version) to do a format and install the latest dash. I went to Format and Setup, then Launched XBPartitioner1.3 (black screen for a while and returned to OGXbox Menu). Then rebooted, and selected "AiO setup a new large HDD", even if the hdd is the stock one, because I followed the readme After the format though, if I reboot the xbox without the dvd inserted it hangs on boot (green Xbox with purple EvoX Logo and "Microsoft" in the bottom center). I tried selecting various default dash but it doesn't work. I don't know how the hardmod works (I am used to softmodding), but I think that maybe it searches for the dash somewhere else (?). Can someone help me please?
  12. I made a modded version (details soon) of the Xecuter 3 bios to theoretically boot on all chips (it was tested on a 1.0/1.1 TSOP, SmartXX and Xenium chip). It is 1024k bios so you can't flash it on a 1.2-1.4 tsop. (Config Live won't work because most if not all except x3 chips don't have a dedicated EEPRom) Warning: This modded version hasn't been tested on every modchip so don't try to flash it, if you have no way to recover as it might could brick your chip. Download: https://goo.gl/bJy9g1 Thanks to xbox7887 for testing it on his Xenium Box and 1.0/1.1 TSOP. (Basically just a repost from my Reddit post)
  13. So I've finally decided to pull out my old 1.6 Xbox which I got from a friend who modded it again. It doesn't boot up properly anymore. No video output and it boots up and shuts back down 3 times before it turn to a red/green flashing icon. Disk tray works normally, I can hear the HDD spin up, but I haven't been able to test it yet. I'm at a loss what to do. Here is a picture of the mod chip:
  14. Aplogies for the noobness here My xbox will not load unleashx on the new hd often. it either takes along time to load or fails. it does not load evox in corner also. Xbox ntsc-j 1.0 2 tb WD Green aladian xt2 hard mod instal issues. - doesn not load evox in conrer anymore after bios flash - boot looping, freezing, not loading into unleash, going into red green flash after 3 boot attempts. -if loads, often after a reboot will decide to 'take a break' boot loop into flashing lights, black screen. -no EVOX logo with or without hd anymore ( this makes me think its a bios issue) -loading hexen to install xmbc or try reflash bios is always unsuccessful. -can load ogxbox just unsure what to instal. Previous notes , install and before issues: -Removed capacitor, installed chip, directed d0 to wrong point (plese see pic) still successfully launched EVOX. -would not load hexen or new hd. redirected the d0 to proper point then had boot problems. starting logo would freeze. -Reflowed aladdin pin headers. -changed wiring back (picture - d0 point to ledhd - i did not clearly understand pdf install guide) hexen loaded. -freezed once. flashed bios 480p an d couldnt get logo screen. reverted back. could load new hdd. -installed ntsc package and got error on 'nodvd' (forgot this part kind of), still loaded into partioner. -partioned hd using 947-1 method (2tbhd) rebooted but froze. -reloaded hexen, reinstalled ntsc p[ackage succefully with no errors. -reformated drives again with 946 +1 method. -rebooted and got power boot loops and no evox logo. -also got the issue LBA48 bios issues when checking reformat drives. however drives are formatted. Thought it maybe hd issues or power issue or ide/sata issues but havetested with nad without hd and get same result. unless i leave the xbox to rest it wont reboot. I can get into a succeful unleshx dash with hd partioned. it just doesnt run smooth or seem right. Plesea see pics. Ive burnt ogxbox disc to try and instal bios but unsure which one honestly. but this randomly loads . I have a feeling ive done something to the modchip. iread that the bios on hexen for the chip was junk but have no idea how to instal a new bios now. I hope someone can help https://imgur.com/JB1rbXv https://imgur.com/eTbE2sJ https://imgur.com/P4YXvm5 https://imgur.com/piCzr6M
  15. I've got 2 XBOX's and one works perfectly and that's the one with a Xenium Ice chip in it, the other has an Aladdin chip I think, I can't recall as it was done about 15 years ago The chip requires that you hold down the power button for about 2 seconds to turn the mod chip on and boot the Xbox to UnleashX. If you don't hold the power button down the screen just goes to no signal and the Xbox doesn't work, it powers on obviously just no signal. If you do hold it down and enable the mod chip the Xbox boots up fine and works well, the only problem is if you do the two trigger / 2 button reboot trick with the M8 bios it does start the reboot process but just goes to a no signal screen. If I go to the option in UnleashX to boot to MSDash it just goes to this same black no signal screen. I tried reinstalling MSDash in case it was a problem with the dashboard, but that made no difference. Does anyone know a solution to this? it's not a big deal but I'd like to resolve it if possible. Thanks in advance.
  16. Hi, I need some help please. After the death of my beloved xbox v1.0 I decided to get a new one, I get a 2002 with motherboard V1.1 and Aladdin XT installed. The console starts and switches off 2 times and then boots normally. By holding down the power button for a few seconds I was sometimes able to start the change. I thought it was faulty and ordered another brand new Aladdin xt plus 2(fake). i notice my old owner had soldered the pins out the mod directly on aladdin main and wired the wires H0 L1 BT D0. it seemed strange to me that it did not use the socket available on the small aladdin board. I then cleaned everything, removed the welds and tried the main and to my amazement it does not start and always cycles on off and then remains on without an image and the LED flashes red. I mount the chip and send D0 to ground and the console magically starts at the first shot without starting the mod, although I set the BT to ground to always leave the mod ON. why does he behave like this? I checked the pins and everything seems okay, the soldering too. I guess it's a motherboard problem right? can you help me please, I really want to make it work again. grazie mille Pietro
  17. I think my XBOX overheated last night while playing Max Payne. The xbox crashed and a flashing orange light was visible. The power button did not respond at all. What happened is that I just installed a newly printed case on the startech ide adapter. After putting it together I decided to startup a game. First thing I noticed was how silent it was and I was actually wondering if the fan was even turning. 5 min later it crashed. After letting it cool for some time it doesn’t want to boot anymore. I get red/green light flashing after a few seconds. I connected the SSD to a pc and I can access it without issues wit fatxplorer, was affraid that me pulling the cable out might have damaged the SSD. It doesn’t want to boot to ogxbox installer dvd with SSD connected, but everything works fine with original HDD. The ogxbox installer gets into some bootloop, teal logo is visible and disk makes noise every few seconds. Different HDD gives same problem, it was not formatted to fatx because it contained valuable data. So basically there can be a few things wrong: ide adapter bad, ide cable all of the sudden needs to be a 80 pin or somehow the boot partition got corrupted. I should be able to test startech ide connector by connecting it to my pc via sata with original HDD (ide) right? so basically the reverse from what I do on the xbox. What is the best way to rule out the SSD? I prefer not to format it again, as I spend hours and hours copying/unpacking all the games. The unpacking part I can skip btw now. Is there anything else I need to check?
  18. Hello! My setup I have been running XBMC-Emustation dash on my V1.6 Xbox with a WD2500JB IDE drive ... the system was soft modded using Xbox-Softmodding-Tool. Both tools created by @Rocky5 https://github.com/Rocky5/ I want to update my storage and have both a 2TB WD20EARS and a 3TB WD30EFRX. I purchased the following ribbon and PATA>SATA off Amazon: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EOJNGC2 https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B073CKHX7X (I bought two of each; I upgraded my brother's OG Xbox as well using a 1TB WD Blue drive... don't have the exact model in front of me ... but the ribbon and PATA>SATA worked amazing.) The Issue After loading the initial Xbox green splash screen, I am not booted into the Dashboard. Instead, the screen goes black and it just hangs. I've found I can open/close the DVD tray and THEN it will boot the dashboard. I've also noticed the speed is slower in both the initial splash screen and the loading of the dashboard itself (after I manually open/close the DVD tray to get the dashboard to load). Again, tested with both the 2TB and 3TB drives Things I've Tried Re-softmodding the system Both 2TB and 3TB drives Different default Dashboard (UnleashX) Additional StarTech adaptor Additional 80 pin IDE cable ... Anyone's input would be appreciated!
  19. Hi. I have the Xecuter3 mod with firmware version 3294 and a rev1.0 Xbox. I'm trying to install a big HDD (4TB) and have maged to get it recognised by using the Startech IDE to SATA converter. I've got it partitioned and setup successfully (using OGXbox installer tools), but, upon reboot, the HDD light on the front of the xbox (x3 firmware button mod) sticks on and the system doesn't boot to dash. I've tried different HDD's and both 40 / 80 pin cables and no difference. If I just install the 200GB IDE HDD I have, it works fine and boots fast. Any ideas as to what I am doing wrong? I have the switch on the back set to Cable Select and am currently using the 80 pin IDE cable. I've tried two of those with the same result. Cheers, BigDaddyCainer
  20. I acquired a few Xbox's cheap recently that were broken one of which was throwing an Error 5 on boot. This Xbox turned out to be modded but the solderless LPC header wasn't installed properly, I removed it and soldered a header directly to the board (and wired D0). Now I'm able to boot to the chip but it halts on startup.https://imgur.com/a/GN13n82I Attempted to load Xenium OS 2.1 recovery CD but the menu never comes on the main screen. It did early on but went black and never loaded again. I have tested this drive on my 1.6 Xbox and know that it is functional. Also I installed my Aladdin XT modchip and the system will boot fine with that. Is there any way to recover this chip or is it dead?
  21. Hi there, greetings from Russia One newbie needs help I just installed Aladdin xt plus2 with new hdd 500gb via sata adaptor. Auto Installer Deluxe cd recognize my hdd and formate it with subsequent installation of dashboard but this is where the problems begin. If i try to boot i get eror 13 but if i swap hdd with dvd on ide cable (hope you can understand the wording) - everything is fine and i can boot in to EvoX. There is some boot priority and with default cable connection my bios cant find dash location or i miss something? How can i fix this ? Thank you
  22. Got this xbox with a couple of 360s and it puts the logo up and the Microsoft logo also pops up then nothing. Put Halo2 disc in and it booted up and showed the previous players save games so i assume the HDD is working at least. Now i thought it had been modded as when i looked underneath it had warranty stickers over the labels you have to cut to open the machine. Also the modder/repairer and also put hot glue in the torx screws (twat). Alas no hardware mod and i know next to nothing about softmods (my modding was always HW mods). Also i got this nice message when i took the lid off. Some suggestions would be appreciated as at the moment I'm thinking something may have happened to a softmod.
  23. Hey everyone, You've been helpful in the past and turn to you again. I got my hands on a mobo 1.2 and cleaned it up (Clock cap puked on some of the stuff inside but I was able to clean it all off with some 91% isolpropyl) looks like I was able to TSOP the points right. I was able to flash the EvoX 256kb no dvd bios but now it just gets stuck on the boot screen with the traditionally green Xbox Logo now blue. Did I overlook something when flashing the bios or not install the right kb size bios?? Im using the OGXbox installer 1.5.3
  24. Hello there, I recently decided to give a second chance to my old Xbox, my parents bought it to me back in 2004 when I was 12 years old. it is a v1.0 and always has booted EvoX, even to this day, the problem is that I can't find any modchip or TSOP. Maybe it's my lack of expertise but I thought that EvoX only boot in a hardmoded machine, so where it is? And if there is no chip, how can it boot EvoX? I've already removed and cleaned the clock capacitor leak, no visible corrosion.
  25. Hello everyone, I received an OG xbox that i bought on internet in perfectly working conditions and never been opened, i have just finished the installation of an OpenXenium chip on it. here some pictures of the installation just in case: After the chip installation i have flash an EvoX m8+ .bin on it using the webServer, and now i try to boot on HeXEn for installing the dashboard on the HDD but here came the problem, i start the consol, launch EvoX the animation show with the EvoX logo on the top left but after 20 to 30 seconds the Microsoft logo appears and finally boot on the default dashboard, i link a video in case i'm not clear. For the DVD i use a Verbatim DVD-RW 4.7go, 4x speed vitesse. I have try to: Burn the DVD on OSX with lowest speed (x2) and max speed (x4), not able to boot on HeXEn Burn the DVD on Windows using ImgBurn with lowest speed (x1) and max speed (x4) not able to boot on HeXEn Testing DVD drive with a legit xbox game no problems it launch with no issues. Do you have any idea where the problem could come from or if there's another solution for installing a dashboard on the HDD ?! the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8u2zkcr7Ds8
