Project Gotham Racing is by far one of the best racing games on the original Xbox, at least in my opinion. I was recently talking to someone on YouTube, and the idea came to mind of how the game could be reverse engineered to make it playable on PC natively. As some of you may know, PGR 1 still has several rendering issues on emulators to this day, especially on CXBX Reloaded (with several serious texture and sound bugs) and Xemu (where the game runs but there are several Z-order issues [which generally cause problems with structures becoming invisible from certain angles, making us see things we shouldn't] and the game tends to suffer from abysmal power and sound issues where cars sound louder than usual) which are the main emulators for the original Xbox. And although backwards compatibility exists, it (Project Gotham Racing) is non-existent on latest-generation Xbox consoles (Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S), and on Xbox 360 it tends to suffer from the same performance issues and FPS drops. This would be one of the main reasons why it would be interesting for me to reverse engineer the first PGR in order to port it to PC and make it natively playable on that platform. The second reason for my interest in reverse engineering the game, is the lack of interest I see in PGR games prior to PGR 2 or PGR 3. Because when talking about the franchise, often times the first Project Gotham Racing, and sometimes its spiritual predecessor, Metropolis Street Racer on the Dreamcast, are never mentioned or are not of interest to many people. So my reasons are: - Lack of interest in general for the first Project Gotham Racing game - Being backed by terrible performance and functionality on emulators and backwards compatibility Now, to that people: I'm not at all, in any way, shape or form, asking for a native PC port of the game or anything like that, I'm simply making this post to get your thoughts on a native PC port of the first PGR, and also learn a bit more about original Xbox game reverse engineering.

Why is it the ram and cpu upgrades on the original xbox are done. But those that do fail to upgrade the next most vital component in your console pcs. Upgrade you power supplies to a larger one to give the system better response time and a deeper well of wattage to pull from. Put an atx in there that has 2 12 v rails and make sure that board has all the power running to it efficiently a 80 or 90 % percent efficient 400 or 500 or 300 watt power supply will give you so many more options for cooling and give that mainboard all the power it needs to function better than ever. Also put low esr capacitors on the board or aluminum polymer capacitors that run at a lower frequenzy and run cooler for you system to truly modernize it. I see the cpu upgrade the ram upgrade, the firmware upgrade, the cosmetic upgrades, but no power upgrades, no capacitor component upgrades. Why are you people not doing this with your retro game consoles. Seriously why has no xbox with the formentioned upgrades that are common talked about not complimented with a larger power supply. And don't give me that crap about the system only uses so much power blah blah blah. That isn't true. A more efficient power supply and low esr capacitors will do wonders for you system. I did a power supply upgrade for the playstation 2 and i can tell you it works better than ever and i can put a 12v fan in it and still give the main board all the power it could ever need with a 180 watt imac power supply from an apple imac A1224 i have 3 for sale on ebay see them there nicely painted and perform better and have a big boy pc grounded 3 pin 110v-250v ac in plug. Also line filters Emi filters, get them there amazing.

I guess I deleted my copy of it, who knows. Does anyone in the forum have it and able to update the download links?

Hello Xbox friends, I'm about to buy a used Xbox controller but are these original Xbox Series Controllers to use on a PC Or buying just a Xbox 360 wireless controller (I believe it's uses Bluetooth like the Series and One controllers?) will suffice, so I can save money? \ Thank you in advance. God bless, Revelation 21:4

I bought this modded big boi in 2005,here is the problem,in original Fable The Lost Chapter if i try to load save state my game will just freeze which will force me to restart xbox, game runs fine without loading save states, saving is also okay. Same problem occured in Call of Duty:Finest Hour, loading next map will almost always led to freeze, after restarting xbox map loads fine. Worst problem was in Kotor 1,xbox would just refuse to continue gaming after cutscene in the the Star Forge. I have EvoX if that matters.

Hi Guys. So i was attempting to soft mod my 1.2 XBOX. I pulled the power from the CDROM, let it boot up and when the green error showed pulled the IDE Cable out. I then connected this to my computer with a IDE to USB adapter. I opened Xplorer360 and i was able to browse my drive. I was copying some files to the partition3 and it look like it lost connection. Now i cant get Xplorer360 to see the drive. I put it back in the XBOX and as suspected it did not boot but i also suspect that its no unlocking the drive now. So what are my options? Is there anyway of recovering this at least to boot stock? Its a stock HDD thats in there at the moment

I'd like to make some 80 wire IDE cables for the Xbox, 80 conductor 30 AWG ribbon cable is no issue but when it comes to IDC/IDE/PATA connectors there are a lot of different names and specs, I'm quite sure which ones I have to account for. I've been told that normal keyed 40-pin IDC connectors will not do the job, so what type of connector is needed? Also, if you've made these cables before, where did you source the connectors from?

Okay, what is going on these days? Where are all the modchips? We had the OpenXenium being mass produced and sold just a short while ago, but this chip can now be only found on eBay and what not. Stellar is coming, but it's a bit expensive. Why is the crap-ass Aladdin, which has some serious flashing issues and no bios management... OR more than 256k of storage, the ONLY chip that's still being mass produced? Am I missing something?

I saw on reddit that they recommended a Taiyo yuden or Nichicon 1F 2.5V, but it seems these are now out of production.

I'm trying to FTP a GBA romset to my Xbox but over half of the files wont transfer with Filezilla, I get the error message saying the file names are too long. Would I be able to burn the rom files to a DVD disc and transfer them to the console that way, or is there another solution outside of manually shortening 1000+ file names?

Hello All, I have an original xbox rev 1.3 and already installed an Executer 2.6CE modchip. I'm ready to order an upgraded 2TB or 3TB hard drive. I have been out of the scene for a long time and sure could use recommendations... Is this Seagate Barracuda the best choice? Or recommend something else that will be easiest? https://www.amazon.com/Seagate-BarraCuda-Internal-Drive-3-5-Inch/dp/B07H2RR55Q/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=st2000dm008&qid=1626155702&sr=8-3 Is there a better IDA to SATA interface than this one? https://www.amazon.com/StarTech-com-Drive-Optical-Adapter-Converter/dp/B00EOJNGC2/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?dchild=1&keywords=IDE+to+SATA&qid=1626155999&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUExMDIwM1JXUlg1VFg2JmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwMDMwMzQ5MkFHQjZHTUxTRjQ0QSZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwODk1Mjg4WVlMSk41WFlLTTk4JndpZGdldE5hbWU9c3BfYXRmJmFjdGlvbj1jbGlja1JlZGlyZWN0JmRvTm90TG9nQ2xpY2s9dHJ1ZQ== And this 80-pin cable ok? Practically I have to acquire a certain game (Tenchu - Return from Darkness)... which could be (I'm not sure) the same as "Tenchu - Fatal Shadows" for PS2... but I'm not sure, so has anyone played this game to know if there's anything different than the PS2 version (like... new chars, new missions, new story, new gameplay etc...) ? Also, is there any game/series which is relevantly different between the Xbox and the 6th gen counterparts versions (PS2 and GC, if I'm not missing any other console like... the Gizmondo! lol, jk with this one)

Hi, Many of the best games on Xbox have been ported to pc and/or wholly remastered for current gen consoles, and the OG Xbox is no longer the best way to play (eg Halo 2, Stranger's Wrath, etc.). I am looking for recommendations for great games which remain unavailable on PC and have not been substantially remade for current gen, thus making the Xbox still the best way to play. Examples: -Darkwatch -Conker Live and Reloaded -Ninja Gaiden Black -Breakdown -Black -Crimson Skies Please give me your recommendations. Thank you!!!

I’ve finally gotten my hands on this skin and was curious if there were any tutorials available to get it working properly? Also on a side note I’ve had hundreds of .png files fail to transfer during the ftp process. I’ve tried flashfxp and FileZilla both with difference transfer preferences only ending with the same results. So if anyone has had issues with that as well I’m all ears Thanks!

Just picked up an Xbox, was about to do a tsop and drop in a sata hdd but when I tested it out (it powers on and loads games) the display looks wrong with the colors somehow. Certain colors and/or scenes are very washed out or blown out. Some scenes or parts of scenes look almost normal at points but something is clearly wrong. Any ideas?

I am reposting this topic again because i think the topic was pulled down. I asked a question?, To all the owners, modder's, collector's whatever, whoever. The God knowledge CPU upgraders...ETC Why is the Power supply upgrade neglected? Come on guys make your system better than ever, the ultimate original xbox Power Is the single most vital none motherboard component in you hybrid pc game console that can be improved really easy if you wanted to. Give your system a larger deeper well of wattage to draw water from, so your system will run more efficiently then ever before because not a single watt asked for is not given to it immediately with ease of operation. Have your fan's run faster and at full speed effortlessly, Open the possibility for other hardware mods or definitely other cooling mods. Power is important, not to big ...' not to small but just the right oversized power supply, Bigger than the manufacturer's But not too big. Any flex atx will do with modification. Or heavy modification depending on what your skill set is and what equipment you have to work with. Message me with questions and i will give you my email.. Console power supplies suck. Power was limited by the space in witch the power supply had to go into at the time of current technology of consoles. Consoles are computer's dummed down. Anyway point being always and i mean always upgrade the consoles power supply first then the rest of the crap. Cpu upgrade, ram upgrade, mod chip upgrade, lights upgrade, cooling upgrade. Blah Blah Blah, What do all of these mods have in common? More Power consumption of the system. They are all almost worthless without the larger wattage well to draw from... Upgrade your power supplies to these amazing modded consoles. Compliment your ram upgrade, cpu, upgrade, mod chip upgrade, lights upgrade, etc with a better atx power supply. Any flex atx will do see my photos on mine. Also i am selling on ebay 4 fat model ps2's custom painted with a double size power supply riged in it. It runs better than ever. Despite maximum wattage use. That is based on an inadequate power supply that is small enough to fit in a compact space. Now uh days we have 1U server power supplies that deliver up to 1000 watts, Flex atx, standard 1u flex atx, tfx, sfx...ETC U name it... it exist now... Compact power punching power supplies. It just takes a little creativity and a little desire to upgrade. Remember the xbox uses a 3.3 standby mode. So you have to mod you small power supply to do this. Easy money, just get a step down transformer tiny logic board. Convert 5 volt volt stand by VSB to 3.3 VSB. USING A BUCK CONVERTER.
