About Me

  1. Hello again, I got another Xbox with another problem. It`s a box manufactured 2003 (so no 1.6 I guess) and it`s a SmartXX built in from 2004. There are several banks flashed with some BIOS files (see picture). There was only a 160GB IDE drive installed so I decided to change it to a SATA 2TB. I made a FTP-copy of the files from C and E. I used FatXplorer to prepare the drive and copied all previously saved files to the new C and E drives to the new partitions. After that I got error 21 after boot. The only working Dash is the EvolutionX but it won`t recognize the F and G partition as it should. I formatted F and G 927GB each but as you can see in the picture it shows only F and not even the correct size. I think the flashed BIOS version is too old. When EvolutionX boots up it shows Xecuter2 below the green xbox logo. Wich BIOS do I need to flash SmartXX and how do I flash it? I need your help again Regards.
  2. Hello everyone, A while back I bought a couple of Xbox's 1.0 , 1.3 & a 1.6 . Fixed the first two up and running , now the last one turns on and off 3 times, then flashes red/green without video, previous owner says it had the error 06 but for me It doesn't give a video signal at all. A visual inspection of the board for any bulged capacitors shows no obvious faults, although I am aware that sometimes with an ESR meter (which i dont have) you can tell which is good and which is bad. I'm using a component cable and the V1.6 xbox is a PAL unit and the hard drive inside is definitely not stock 160GB storage and no hard mod is installed. A quick search gives me the idea that its probably the eeprom ( dead or corrupted ) if that is the case and assuming i have no backup as i do not know what the previous owner did to it, what should i do ? if not any ideas what should i check / do to troubleshoot the problem ? . I have a Rpi , arduino and an old eeprom universal flasher ( i will check if it supports the chips ). Oh and i have an Aladdin XT PLUS2 on hand if that would help , but kindly note that I have never used them before but if someone has a guide that would be appreciated as well. Best Regards SP
  3. Would it be advantegious? Or would it cause any interference?
  4. Hey folks! New member here! Bought a custom OG Xbox modded and loaded a while back and recently moved. Hooked it up and turned it on and got a #12 error with red ring. I’d love to to find someone reputable that I could send off for service. Thank you
  5. I have a hard modded console with a 1TB HDD that I would like to swap into a softmodded console that has a 500gb and vice versa. I know that something has to be done with the HDD keys but I dont know the exact details and don't want to mess anything up. Both systems have config magic currently installed. The reason I want to do a simple swap is because I have recently backed up all my games to the 1TB and really don't want to have to go through the hassle of cloning with chimp and then backing them all up again, so if someone is able to give me a quick step by step on what I need to do with both console it would be really appreciated?
  6. That shit is elusive now. Can't find it. Anybody still have the ips file and the ips application?
  7. This should be my last post on electricity, I know I have posted a lot over the last few days and gotten some great answers, but great answers can also push you towards something new to learn about. Anyways here goes. 1. Lots of homes where I live have an RCD/ safety switch which can detect imbalances between the neutral and live connections. If there is an imbalance (such as when current is going to ground) it will trip the power. In regards to the xbox, it does not have a ground prong on its power cable, so how can an RCD trip the power in the event of a electrical fault (such as water, corrosion and other damage)? And If the TV the xbox is connected too and other devices connected to the TV don't have have ground prongs either and are all connected to the same powerstrip, how does and RCD protect them? 2. I opened up two of my consoles that were water damaged a few years ago. I checked for corrosion. Didn't see much. A little on the underside of the psu (which I don't think I can clean off) and possibly small amounts on the main board. Although there is a risk that I may miss some of it as there is a lot to examine and it may be hidden under things. My main question with this is how bad is corrosion? I know it creates shorts and I do not particular care if these particular two xboxs fail but I do care about how it may effect other consoles connected to the same powerstrip and tv. My tv does not have a ground prong and neither do the consoles. If somone could fill me in on the outcomes of corrosion and if my other consoles are protected by something? like a RCD? Thanks guys once again, and I apologise for going on about things, It is just in my nature to want to be really sure about things.
  8. I recently took a non-functional 1.0 board with 128mb of ram to a shop and asked that they move the extra ram to another working 1.0 board. Upon getting the unit back I'm noticing some unique behavior and most importantly that it won't boot. I do have an Xblast Lite chip connected, D0 goes from the point on the back to the correct location on the chip. The chip is installed with a header. When I boot with the chip connected, I get a reboot twice and then the Flashing Red and Green. When I disconnect the chip from the headers I get two reboots and a Red and Orange light. Anything I should have the installer checking out specifically with the above in mind? It looks like they had some pad lifting issues.
  9. I just bought this used knowing the startup was a little finicky at times. Everything was working fine, but now on startup I get 4 clicking sounds and after 3 times it frags. When I turn off the modchip it boots into the blob just fine. can anyone point me in the right direction to resolve this problem? This is a crystal version: 2004-10-04, other than that I haven't found any other info.
  10. My 2005 XBox has an SDG-605F in it and it isn't reading discs. I cleaned the laser first. No go. Then, I adjusted the pot from 1247 down to around 560 in increments of about 100-150 at a time, and I've now given up. Is it possible that I just missed the point at which it will work? (That is, maybe I went to 720 from 850 but it would have worked at 785?) Any other ideas besides a wholesale swap-out? Thanks.
  11. I did a softmod on my original xbox after it was already softmoded. the games before played in color. After the softmode done al ot of games start up in black and white mode . i do use a vga connection and not a RGB. There are games what play in color and some of them just start up from the harddisk in black and whiote that used to be colormode. i play arond with NTSC enigma and i can chage between pal and NTSC but that is not the issue the box start up in pal but when i start up the game from HD it jumps in B/W . not the write display. any help would be nice to solve the problem. thx
  12. I have been trying to find versions 5.12 and 6 for "softmod installer deluxe". Does anyone have a link?
  13. Hello guys, This is my first post on this great forum, lots of info and input is amazing! The reason of this probably repeated post is that I want to upgrade my HDD to a 1TB or 2TB HDD (what's the max capacity I can go with my motherboard?), I watched lots of tutorials and seems the way to go is using OGXBox (downloaded and burned version 1.5.3 to a DVD, also have TruHeXEn 2021 on another DVD disc if needed) my questions are mostly regarding how to proceed now, I got this console from a very good friend some 15 years ago, and it was modded as it alwas played back up DVD's, I opened the console to look if there was any physical chip or mod to the board but couldn't find any or I'm too dumb to detect it, seems like it is only soft modded? Current BIOS and Dash versions are attached in pics along with more pics of the motherboard so I don't know if you guys can see any mods performed to it. I already purchased the SATA to IDE adapter and performed the 80 way/40 pin IDE cable conversion and everything seems to be working after that I was able to play my backup DVDs and play from the original HDD as well, so basically which route do I follow now? because I don't want to perform something that might brick the console by interfering with the already installed mod, also is there any specific model of 3.5" SATA HDD I need to choose?, I know there's like a list of working/locked HDD so do I need to consider that when purchasing my new HDD? I was plannig to get a WD blue or Seagate Barracuda. Thank you very much for all your help guys!
  14. Hey guys, new member...but not new to the scene. I have been a member over at XBMC4XBOX for years. I initially modded this box in 2010/2011-ish. I had run XBMC on it for my daughter for a number of years, with the help of the fine folks over at X4X, have updated it several times...added some SNES ROMS and had quite a bit of fun messing around with it and the scene. As it got to be a little longer in the tooth for HD streaming, and several devices that are smaller and much more powerful that can do much more, I packed it away. My son is now 15, and loves all things gaming. I would like to get this back up and running with more ROMS that he and his friends can enjoy. Several months ago, I updated the dash with Rocky5 1.17 disc, but could never get anything to boot off of it. I only got Rocky5's gray dash, and the downloader working. XBMC would boot to a red error screen, and XBMC Emustation/XBMC4Gamers would not do anything...no matter how much I tried. I posted over at XBMC4XBOX several times to get some help, but really received no answers. In the last few weeks I have found this site, and have been reading as much as I can. I got the box out today, and had forgotten that in a fit of desperation, I tried HEXEN 2018 to try to wipe the mod and start over. It still had UnleashX as the main dash, and booted right up to it. XBMC 3.5 was still in the E: folder, but still booted to the red printed error screen. When I tried to switch to it as a dashboard I couldn't get UnleashX back. I put HEXEN back in and ran through some tools and kept getting more errors. Just dug Rocky5 out again, and ran through the softmod updater. It is a stock (other than the softmod) 1.4 that I believe was warranty repaired by Microsoft at one time. I purchased it from a friend at work, and it had previously been opened up, but no mods had been done. Booted fine to stock dash with all his game saves. I had done the original mod with the Replay card and 007 with Krayzie's, I believe. It worked great, and I was constantly reading and messing with updates and dashboard appearance for it when it was in my daughter's room. I would really like to clean this thing up. Rocky5 is now updated, and I installed the XBMC4Gamers, and booted to the dash...it worked! Now that I am a little more encouraged, I want to get this as clean as possible before adding ROMS, etc... I feel all of my attempts have left junk behind, and I want it gone...Is there a utility or anything that will get my softmod to a point that it has only what it needs to run? Then I can begin again. Like a "fresh install" or "refresh"? I have old XBMC builds, and who knows what else cluttering up the disk. Or possibly a folder structure diagram that I can follow, and clean up manually? I had incorrectly assumed that the softmod updater or HEXEN would wipe everything for me, but that was not the case. I've poured through both discs and have not seen anything like this in any menus. Thanks in advance...love the site Kevin

  16. Im looking for some ideas to try before I look for a replacement xbox. Im not sure if i can do anything else at this point. My xbox was soft modded for some time, but I wanted to do a tsop to unlock the drive and then put in a 2.5 inch 500 gb sata drive. I did the tsop (i have a v1.5) soldered the 2 point and flashed the tsop with hexen 2021 disc. Put in my sata driver with adpater and 80 pin cable and everything was great. I started uploaded the library that i have. I also removed the supercap. I was down to my really scrached discs and was trying to see i could get good copies from them, but gave up. I picked up some new titles and went to install them and the xbox wouldnt boot. I get the evo/xbox splash screen to a blank screen with the orange led. Tried booting hexen or soft mod or game disc and nothing. I tried cleaning out the dvd drive, that didnt help. The last thing i did with the drive was watch it with the cover off. It doesnt appear to be trying to focus nor does it appear to be emitting a laser. It does move the laser head unit on the rails. But i dont think this should stop a boot to harddrive? I went back to the ide drive and the 40 pin cable and no change. I tried combinations of hooking up pc cdrom to the ide and dvd on the power. Thought maybe the dvd drive was corrupting the ide bus. Ive checked my caps and board multiple times. The only thing i was suspicious of was a pin point spot on the nvidia chip, i hope it didnt melt itself inside. So thats where im at, i think my dvd is toast and maybe the ide on the motherboard is broken.
  17. I have Xbox moded with Aladdin XT Plus2 (I bought it moded few years ago). ODD started failing a while back (had much trouble to recognize disc and even if it did, it had trouble reading it to rip it to HDD). I eventually ignored it and started to upload games through FTP. But recently HDD started failing, it does clicking noise at startup, sometimes it doesn't start and displays error page "service required...", if it eventually starts then sometimes it works ok and sometimes it crashes during operation with HDD making those clicking noise. So, i opened my Xbox, connected HDD to one of my PC I use for older games (Core 2 Duo, WinXP, ATA connector on motherboard) and it started ok, it was seen in device manager, but disk management didn't see it. I googled around and it seems drives are ATA locked on Xbox and that is why I didn't see any partitions. So I run SMART Extended test using smartmontools and it didn't detect any errors, also SMART attributes didn't show anything unusual (I'm familiar with this since I do computer repairs). So I googled some more and it seems I could just insert another ATA HDD to Xbox and use recovery disc to prepare HDD. I had some spare Samsung 40GB so I inserted it in Xbox and I have disc labeled as "XBOX Master Installer v2 (recovery)" but I couldn't get it to work because ODD have trouble reading it. So I'm really in a pickle. Is there some alternative way to do this without replacing ODD?

  19. i have a prototype game that i want to run on my modded xbox. how do i turn it into a file that will run on it?
  20. Hey all, This might be a foolish thought, but would it be possible to create an av cable that does both component out and vga out at the same time? I ask because if it were possible, it would be a very cheap an effective way to capture gameplay from an original xbox while playing. I was looking at this diagram for av pinouts and saw how similar they already were: https://imgur.com/odRIA8b I guess the only potential issue is that pins 9 and 10 are shorted for when its VGA and are not shorted when its component? Would be curious to hear from people more knowledgeable than myself.
  21. Hello All, I recently put a Seagate 3TB HDD in an original xbox Rev. 1.6 with Xecuter 2.6 modchip. I split the F and G drives evenly and everything installed and worked fine. I just tried the same with an identical hard drive in a xbox Rev. 1.4 with Xecuter 3 CE modchip (X3 3294 Bios) and the G-drive size doesn't display correctly. I used TruHeXEn 2021 DVD-R to format the new drive. I then used XB Partitioner on that same DVD-R to format the F and G again. I pressed "A" until the F and G were even and made sure they were 64k clusters. Formats in XB Partitioner fine and then when I check the hard disk settings while still in TruHeXEn, they both display and show the same expected size. But when I eject the DVD-R and boot off the HDD and check hard disks in dashboards, the G-Drive shows as 0MB and sometimes doesn't display at all. The F works fine though. I tried formating them @ 10 times, same thing. If I FTP in, the F-Drive shows and is writable, but the G-Drive doesn't even display as an option. Any ideas why the G-Drive is not displaying the correct size? Thank you!!!
  22. I bought this at a Goodwill years ago and there's something unusual wrong with it. It doesn't have any scratches or paint chips. Whenever I insert it it says "You need to connect the DVD Playback Kit receiver to a controller port to watch movies. Remove the disc to continue." So I went to my local pawn shop to get the DVD Playback kit. I get a message that says. "This is an Xbox game disc. Please put it in your Xbox to start playing." I'm confused!! How do I fix this?!
  23. Good morning friends, I installed the rocky softmod and by mistake using a partition software I deleted the x, y and z partitions, after doing that when I turn on my xbox I only get a black screen, but if it reads the original disks, try to put the xploit disk and reinstall but the screen freezes when wanting to enter the softmod, any recommendations to be able to reinstall the softmod?
  24. HI all, I am new to mochips but I recently decided to take the plunge. I found an OpneXenium which I bought reasonably cheap on eBay (including LPC rebuild). Since I am not so good at soldering, I also bought a spare 1.6 to try my skills. To my surprise I found that it had been modded. A disconnected Duo X2 was hanging loose inside it (a white model with AMD chip). As is, the xbox boots without problem into MS dash. When the duo is connected and I start the xbox via the eject button, everrything works as intended (MS mode) When the duo is connected and I start the xbox via the on/off button, a red light flashes and the xbox enters a quick on/off cycle (drives starting then stopping). My guess is that the Duo is defective. It probably was installed to read exports (since the HDD is a 10GB model), then fried and disconnected in order to sell the xbox. But that could be good news If I can make use of the already fixed LPC. Can it be done, as the nubers of pins differ (+2 for the openxenium)? And what would I be supposed to do with the white wire (D0) that is connected to the duo? Please help! Serge
  25. Sorry for opening another topic so soon, with the other one un-replied, I just needed to know how to properly manage the upload of roms and emulators on a hard-modded Xbox with Slayers 2.7 as default dashboard. Basically, I got a lot of roms and some good new emulators (alongside the ones which were already installed with the dashboard). Where do I put each roms (they're a lot of stuff)? Do I need to make folders like "Nintendo 64", "Nes", etc.. asking you this because there's a "Roms" folder in "F:" drive but many of the files can have the same name (as they're usually in .zip format). Do I have to place the roms in specific folder of the emulator or there's a specific setting to follow ? Should emulators be uploaded in "Emulators" or "Games" folders ? thanks
