  1. TL;DR - I'm David. I know a few OXBOX tricks. Hey everyone. I've been busy with work this week, so I haven't had a chance to properly introduce myself. Names David. I'm 32; live at the beach and work at a casino (why I was so busy when I signed up and didn't write this intro thread yet). I've had a knack for electronics since I was nine. First modded XBOX I ever owned had a X3CE (damn shame I ever got rid of it; as X3CE's can go for a dime these days). The X3 unit was not modded by me, but I'm glad that I had it, as it helped encourage my budding curiosity. I used to do a lot of XBOX discussion on The ISO Zone before the owner pulled the plug on the site. Here's hoping it's successor lives up to the task. First time I ever modded my own XBOX, it was a softmod, followed by using an old Hewlett Packard AMD-K6 to build an upgraded drive for it. Ended up giving it to a friend some time later, he still has it. That one was a v1.6. We had a mutual friend who saw my old XBOX; and wanted one as well. He brought me his old XBOX from storage and it was a v1.1. So, with his permission, I went about doing the TSOP bridge and wrote X2 5035 to the onboard BIOS and installed XBMC on a 160GB HDD for him and used x2config.ini to point to E:xbmc.xbe; worked like a charm. Now, I find myself at it again with a more recent project. This time, I will NOT be getting rid of. I got my hands on an original v1.0 and I have been steadily making improvements. V1.0 4034 Hynix 1MB TSOP w/ X2 5035 64MB RAM 733Mhz P3 equivalent. Removed clock cap (XBMC uses NTP anyway) Samsung SDG-605 (had a Thomson) 500GB SATA II (PATA adapter) 80-wire IDE cable. Ghost case (functional as long as you're careful with them) Protected Power Cord Component Cable Minebea Power Supply (on the way) *In talks with N64Freak about a RAM and CPU upgrade.* Here is a video of the one that our mutual friend got: Here is a video of the one I am currently working on: Yes, the similarities are intentional. The one I designed for my friend was called THE REAPER; but only as a prototype. He later had me change the boot colors and sound to something else. So I have adopted The Reaper as my calling card.
  2. Just saying hello. New here but not so new to Xbox modding. Got my first 1.6 in 2004 and soft modded it shortly there after, formatted the C drive not long after that and was kind of forced to fix it with very little knowledge at the time. Got rid of that console a couple of years later and had various other's over the next few years. I've VGA modded, LG 8163 modded, hard modded and soft modded quite a few consoles but stopped tinkering with the Xbox around 2008 or so. Found myself with a stack of them around 2017 and ended up either selling or giving them away due to small apartment life and no place to store it all. Recently I was given 4 more with various problems so decided to get back into the scene and quite surprised there is still a community this large.

  4. HI people old timer here, with 3 og xboxes. Also have a series x, ps5, xbox 360 slim e and a ps3. regarding my original xboxes, i have an: OG1 (unknown mod picked it up at yard sale) with working dvd and 230 GB hdd. OG2 xbox with motherboard flash apparently or something? and another OG3 Xbox stock with a dead dvd drive. Ive long been into the modding scene, but never shown my face kinda thing. love og xbox and the memories i have with it. Im wondering if someone can direct me to where id get help with my army of xboxes. how do i figure out if the xbox is softmodded or modchipped without taking it apart? whats a motherboard flash? ive never heard of it but the guy i bought it off says its not softmod and its not modchip if u have 2 working modded xboxes with working dvds and a unmodded stock with a broken dvd, what would be the best way to also mod that? Im a big fan of Mr Mario and constantly look at his videos. Thanks all! have a great sunday/monday!
  5. Hello! I'm a new forum member, and an OG XBOX fan for the last couple of years. I never owned an XBX before, until I went to a local fleamarket out of curiocity, looking for broken electronic devices to get me into electronic troubleshooting and stuff...then I came across a realy dirty XBOX which I got almost for free... Trying to figure out what to do with it, I came accross this amazing community of modders and I'm thrilled to discover how many choices one has with a machine that' nearly 20 years old! I'm trying to experiment as much as possible, learn more and have fun. Glad to be here!!

  9. Hi all- I just picked up my first OG Xbox tonight! I'm stoked to mess around with it and build up my collection. Unfortunately it won't power up; I opened it up and it looks like there are some bad capacitors on the motherboard so I'll be replacing those straight away. However I'd like to figure out if the Power Supply works regardless of that. If anyone has any tips on that let me know please.
  10. Hi! So I teach computer science at a local university. My 11 yo son and I are having a blast collecting and restoring old consoles. I'm here to learn as much as I can concerning modding an original xbox. What a great old console!
  11. OG Xbox fan here, currently in the process of restoring and updating 7 OG Xbox and managed to find myself a mint condition Halo Green that's on it's way to me too. How did you all find yourselves back in the world of the OG Xbox?
  12. I just wanted to say I. I have been getting back into retro gaming along with my two boys. I just Modded an XBOX 1.6 with Aladdin XT 2. I am now trying to figure out what the next best step would be. Use the Hexen CD to set up? I will be adding a 1 or 2 TB hard drive in the future but right now it has the 80GB that came with it.
