About Me

  1. I"m seeking advice on upgrading the Bios on my original Xbox due a larger hard drive installed which also needs a 32k cluster size. Therefore I'm after a better and known BIOS which has LBA48 (+137GB) and only enables partition6 (f:). Xbox info (Known) Console model: v1 (0a) Mod chip: Super Aladdin Live Hard drive WD 500GB (PATA) *NOS DVD: Thomson (yuck!) so little luck making it boot CD/DVDs Kernel Version: 1.0.4981.6 Current Bios: Unknown - possibility custom (Xecuter2 4981) Currently the xbox HD is formatted 16k cluster size and I am experiencing issues in relation to this and want it to be 32k. When I run XBPartitioner to correct this, it displays: Therefore I just need a more recent bios with LBA48 v2+ that also keeps other feature like In Game Reset (IGR) Which is why I'm asking this question to you. From my research I've learnt that for BIOS that enables partition #6 is labelled as x.06 for both partitions #6 and #7 is x.67. I've read that Aladdin (mod chips) will only take 256k (default). Inside the xbox is the Super Aladdin Live and know little about chip size or amount of banks as only I've found was on the knightdiscount website. Since my xbox possible has Xecuter2 4981, thought these would be go choice: Xecuter2 4983 however after looking at: I have been look a the All Retail Bios Information chart on this forum. All I know if I flash the wrong bios I'll have to re-flash it with hardware I just don't have. Thanks in advance!
  2. So I have sometime on my hands and Ive been playing around with some cheap aladdins I have kicking around. I've managed to get urjtag to read my jtag programmer(HW-USBN-2A) but when I run the 'detect' command it tells me my that TDO is stuck at 0 or 1. I originally tried with a cheap USB blaster but it just would not work. Ive tried changing the wire, reconnecting the wires, powering the chip with the programmer, powering the chip with a xbox and powering the chip with a bench power supply.
  3. tried to install the aladdin xt plus2 on my 1.6 and ... last connection i had to make didnt go well ... i feel bad the point didnt want to tin, ended up destroying the point and traces around it is there anyway can i fix this mess ? https://ibb.co/FY4vbT0 https://ibb.co/nRq48GJ (its my first time soldering dont be too mean on me lol) thanks for future inputs
  4. can't get to flash it. I tried 2 seconds power button hold, no dice. Chip boots bios OK, but cant flash it.
  5. xenomodchip/ aladdin modchip gerbers 1.0.0 About This File please note some renaming/modification of files may be needed to be viewed as they be old as fudge Aladdin Aladdin + Aladdin++ enjoy xenopcbs1of3.zip
  6. Hello you all, I had an idea, that involved getting an Aladdin XT 4032, and replacing the Lattice chip with an LC4064V one. I was wondering, that after flashing the chip with a JTAG programmer, that the chip would function similarly to an Aladdin Xt 4064, or not. I don't want to go into this, and end up wasting a few dollars, because I didn't ask for help before doing this.
  7. Not done a chip install before but decided to take the plunge and have just received an Aladdin XT PLUS2 including pin-header. Thing is I have two options: install on a v1.0 or a v1.6. I've started by bridging the BT to adjacent GND point so when fitted the chip will be always be on. A bit fiddly and I overcooked the solder on one end but it looks clean enough. The question is what to do now: there are plenty of guides for the the v1.6 but that involves rebuilding the LPC which with my soldering skills I'm not 100% confident about. There is also contradictory information about the pin-header set up too. Some guides remove just one pin others like this very clear YT guide recommends removing four pins. The v1.6 LPC hassle made me tend towards using the v1.0 instead but the guides I've found for that are limited and seem unclear in comparison. Nothing at all about using the pin header, if there are any differences, and the pins that need removing or even what needs to be connected to what. Available pictures are particular poor. It also appears that to use the pin header I'm going to have to remove the existing solder from the LPC holes too. Is the info in the v1.6 YT tutorial about using 5v from the right transistor leg to make the LED only switch on when the Xbox is powered up applicable to the v1.0? Advice/info please.
  8. Hi; About two years ago I bought this used ModChip for 10 USD, but I really don't know what kind of Aladdin version is, It's my knowledge that Aladdin ModChips have a lot of versions so I need your help people to identify it, and if you can or have it, I need install instructions too, please, I remember that this chip can be compatible whit all motherboard versions of original Xbox, and I remember that actually we don't need too much points to install this kind of chip (Aladdin) to make all the steps for have a mod original Xbox because there's no more Xbox Live (for example) for this wonderful console, but I'm only speculating based in my memories, you're the experts, I really appreciate your help and time
  9. Hi all. Came across my old original modded Xbox in loft the other day and had a play and realised I’d missed it. Decided to get back into the scene and do some updates on it. Increase hard drive from 160gb to 2tb and a few other bits and pieces.. i have the old Aladdin Advanced mod chip which boots to evox on long power press and stock on short. Now as Xbox live is no longer a thing on original Xbox, I’ve no further need to keep booting to stock as default. Whats the best way to alter it to have it boot with the chip active all the time? Or is there still a benefit to dual boot? If so can I switch the long and short presses around? Been a long long time since I messed with these things. All help appreciated.
  10. So here's my situation, My 1.6 burned out about two months ago now. Trusty system, but now it's doing the on/off three times frag thing. For 10 bucks I bought a 1.0 Xbox. It however, didn't have a hard drive in it. Error 7. The man gave me back my money and let me keep the Xbox because he didn't know it was lacking a hard drive. So, I have these two boxes. My 1.6 has an 80 gig drive. I received in the mail an Aladdin XT Plus 2. What can I use this chip for to get either of these boxes running? Can I simply plug the Aladdin chip onto the 1.0 board? Modding the 1.6 is a bit ridiculous, and I am not sure if the chip will repair the system anyway. I can't find any info on using the Aladdin chip on a 1.0 board, but with that unit NOT having a hard drive I cannot tsop flash it, so if I can boot it via the Aladdin chip and the then set it up I am PERFECTLY FINE with that as a solution. Looking for as little hogwash as possible. Thanks for your thoughts.
  11. Hey all! 1.6 crystal Xbox here with an aladdin chip. My Xbox fragged with error 7 so I assumed my HDD (softmod) was dead. So I got an aladdin, redid the LPC of course and got it to boot with the purple logo! Same thing though. Narrowed it down to the DVD drive. Whenever the disk drive is connect to both IDE and power, the XBOX with either FRAG with error 7 or if I just connect power it will just boot loop the blue xbox logo over and over. Samsung drive. Assuming its just a dead drive? Anyone hear of this? Any way to repair or do I just grab a drive from another xbox? Thanks!
  12. How are y’all doing? I’m trying to install the Aladdin chip on my 1.4 motherboard and I need to know if I need to solder the LAN and the HD to the Aladdin chip?
  13. Hello, I have an original Xbox (can't determine which version, looks like 1.4 or 1.5) modded with Aladdin Advance. It worked well until today - I decided to update the bios with EvoX D.6 EjectFix (checksum 74c6235497f474bf88b54b3fc52a20b2). Bin file with it was placed on my HDD so I presumed that it's ok to flash it. After flashing, my Xbox turned off and when I turned it on, it startet to FRAG (two green flashes, then green/red flash with no video). What have I done? How I can undone it?
  14. https://imgur.com/a/P7rnmgZ Hi everyone Yesterday I ran into an issue with my install - I have a 1.6 Xbox so I picked up an Aladdin XT and a rebuild board to make the job easier. Should be easy right? - apparently not as I stuffed it up. Basically I made the mistake of following a video where the rebuild board had a much larger space around the pins which allowed for quite a bit of solder to be flowed onto them - I followed those instructions and when I went to put my board on it didn't sit flush. So for whatever reason I decided to solder it in and see what happened. Naturally, it didn't work so I with armed with a lot of patience and a desoldering wick I managed to remove it without destroying any pads or traces - but I have another problem. I didn't remove the unnecessary pin headers for my 1.6 - will the chip still work? and do I need to solder all of the pins to the rebuild board (I'm confused about the plating corresponding to each of the pins) as I'm not sure if I can remove them as you can see from the image the solder has gone directly into the through hole and I don't have the means of removing it. Sorry if this is stupid but I barely managed to get the header off of the board (thankfully I ordered extras) I don't want to have to desolder another one of these. Thanks!
  15. Hey guys, Due to the current situation in the world I have decided to finally install my mod chip. I do have a few questions regarding the install. I have read many guides and watched several videos on how to install these chip(aladdin xt plus2) and I rather not cut the trace on the motherboard. I found this video and I do like the idea of having the chip not light up while the xbox is off and not cutting the trace, Now that being said I know the internet is filled with people who find ways to do things differently but are not the right way to do them(I am not bad mouthing this gentleman) . Now my questions are 1- will installing the chip this way damage my xbox(short/Long term) 2-Is there any guides that you know of that are better(please link if possible) 3-is it possible to have the chip setup/installs so I can still boot into ms dash.(I read it is possible to set it up so a long power press will start the chip) I do not plan to use a lpc rebuild, I can just do it with wire. Thanks in advance
  16. Hi everyone, I'm a new user, have xbox I don't know what version it is, modchip is Aladdin XT with bios M8plus, but a strange thing happens when I turn on the console by holding down the power button 2 seconds it turns on but when I start any game via the evox 3935 dashboard gets stuck on the loading screen, the chip appears to be deactivated....the power button turns green..after 5 seconds it is power on.
  17. I took a 1.6 board I have laying around and decided to do a speed-mod. I paid no attention to quality of solder joints, length of wires, or anything else that a more experienced technician might look at. I did it as quickly and as shoddy as I could, so I could show results similar to what the average Joe may expect. I'm not trying to talk it down. THIS WORKS, and that is what matters and that's what this guide is for. 1. Insert the pinheader. Hold it with one finger against the board and flip it over. Solder 1 pin on the bottom side in place. Make sure your finger is not touching this pin on the other side. Let it cool, and then look to solder the opposite corner (diagonally). Don't let your finger touch that pin this time, and solder it in place. Now you can stop pressing on the opposite side with your finger, and just solder all of the rest of the pins in place. (A MUCH better way than using your finger, is to add a drop of super glue between the plastic holding the pins, and the board. Don't let it touch the metal or it will cook away in a very eye-irritating vapor.) 2. Now we're going to attach the wires to rebuild the lpc. On the top is the guide you should use. On the bottom is the demo job I did, and yours should look similar or better. You'll notice on the bottom picture, the LFrame/D0 wire is soldered to a pad you don't see anywhere else. The guide tells you to solder it to the chip, and the chip has a pad for it. That's not necessary. Just solder it to the pad I show you. That pad is ground, and grounding LFrame/D0 causes the Xbox to boot from LPC instead of the onboard rom. Doing this allows you to take the chip off at will for hotswapping/flashing other chips. (The dark colorations in the bottom pic are not burns. I use rosin-core solder. I usually clean it off to look nicer, but in this case I was trying to demonstrate a real-world normal job someone might do.) 3. Now it's time to get the Aladdin ready to go in. It has features built in for xbox live, which no longer exists for the original Xbox... so we need to defeat those features. Solder the BT pad on the Aladdin to the pad shown. This will enable the chip as soon as power is pressed. 4. Now you're ready to fit your chip and test it out. It mounts on the pinheader like this:
  18. Hi all, I'm talking about 1 of the 2 XBOXes I bought used. I am in the process of cleaning them as best as possible. One was sold as modded and is clearly modchipped/TSOPed, as it displays "Xecuter2" on boot just by pressing the power button once. So I disassembled the other one, sold without any mention about modchip. Because I didn't know it was modchipped I was going to clean dust and remove clock capacitor but when I tore it apart I did see this chip installed on board: After a good cleaning and putting it back I tried to power it on by pushing power button for 2-3 seconds and I get a bootscreen with "Xecuter2" mark instead of "Microsoft", but I have the same (stock) dashboard as before. I did read that before removing the clock capacitor, having a modchip installed, I must use a suitable (kinda new) BIOS in order to avoid "clock loop" problem. Now that I'm there, what can I do to update this modchip? I have TruHexen2019 dvd iso downloaded from somewhere, if could be useful. I'm kinda familiar with tweaking things in general, as well as other consoles, but I'm just a noob about Xbox modding, so please be kind and patient
  19. Hi there! Got a crystal Xbox for my son and it was already modded with the Aladdin advance chip. As this was done in 2005 it’s soldered in such a way that you can change boot from chip to onboard. This is causing problems when using a HDD without ms dashboard installed. My question is if I can desolder the extra wires on the picture and ground the bt as well as shorting the Lframe like you would with a new plus install?
  20. I have this chip on my xbox, works great. However i am unable to "see" all the space on my HDD (F Drive) What bios should i install on it ? And please someone guide me on the procedure? Thanks
