About Me

  1. Hello everyone! I will tell you about my problem: I have an Xbox 1.0 with TSOP and 128Mb of RAM (I bought it pre-modified), I have tried to install an Aladdin Xblast by soldering the pinheaders to the LPC port and soldering point D0 of the motherboard to D0 of the chip (I have also tried soldering D0 from motherboard to ground on motherboard) and got FRAG. I have followed Barnito's Lpc Diagnostics (V0.1) guide (https://www.ogxbox.com/forums/index.php?/topic/239-lpc-diagnostics-v01/#comment-945) to verify voltages and continuity. With respect to continuity everything is correct except pin 2 and with respect to voltages everything is correct (+-10% of the correct voltage) except pin 1 0V and pin 5 1.7V. If I disconnect the D0 cable from the chip or ground, or if I disconnect the Aladdin chip, the console boots correctly with the Cerbios bios that I flashed in the TSOP and boots my Xbmc4gamers. What could be the problem? (if photos are necessary, I'll take them later when I get home from work)
  2. Hi, I recently searched the attic to get my original xbox back out, while up there I found a crystal version that I don't remember getting and set it up to see if it worked. It is fully working and has a Aladdin XT wired in it, the bios is EvoX M8 v16. I have been trying to find a tutorial on fitting a larger HD, probably a 500gb and wondered if anyone could advise or point me towards a tutorial if possible. I have been reading and watching videos for the last 2 days and tbh am more confused now, I thought I would be able to clone the original onto a bigger drive using the xbox and then just rip my disks to the drive. Would this Aladdin XT support the newer Cerbios or XBMC4Gamers ?. Any help/info would be appreciated greatly.
  3. I'm trying to write a bitstream to a spare Aladdin XT2 Plus modchip with a knock-off USB Blaster. The USB Blaster in question is one that came with an AliExpress FPGA dev board. It looks like an official product, literally says "USB Blaster" and "Altera" on the sticker. One of those knock-offs. I only mention this because it could pertain to the issue. The github page linked says to externally power the modchip, which I am doing. I've found that if I connect 3.3v from an Adafruit trinket and leave the 3.3v line from the USB Blaster connected, I am able to run `urjtag` on Linux, connect the USB Blaster, and run the `detect` command. This reads out the device ID and hangs. I give the process a `SIGINT` and it segfaults. Seems promising, but I don't trust this to write the configuration to the chip. Possibly an issue with `urjtag`, but I can always debug that myself. Should the USB blaster be providing 3.3v while there is an external source providing 3.3v? This doesn't make sense to me, but it's the only way I've been able to get a partially successful ID from the Lattice chip. I also have this power supply. It takes my 12v wall wart and gives me some nice 3.3v headers. I've double checked with a multimeter and it seems to do what it says. When I power with this, it does bad things to the USB Blaster. I tried first without the 3.3v line from the USB Blaster and again with the 3.3v line connected. Both times, the USB Blaster is not even detected by my computer. It takes a minute or two of being unplugged before the USB Blaster is recognized by my computer again. This particular power supply has an on/off switch. I can switch it to off, plug in power leads to the modchip, and this still messes up the USB Blaster. It won't be detected even though the external power source is turned off. What could be causing this? Completely out of scope, I've heard that the Xecuter 3 uses a Lattice chip in the same LC4XXX family. From what I understand, they scrubbed the markings on the CPLD and made it look like an Actel chip to make cloning more difficult. There's a schematic publicly available, but from what I can tell, it requires transplanting chips from a working Xecuter 3. I seem to recall hearing that they locked the chips during manufacturing so the configuration / bitstream couldn't be copied. Does anyone have any recollection of this?
  4. Just looked out one of my old original xboxes, It has an Aladdin EX chip like one in picture..The xbox is a 1.6 and only has a 40gb drive and was going to upgrade it to a 250gb drive that I have... So I tried to flash with EvoxM8+ v1.6 BIOS which I ran through evtool to enable LBA48 support. But when I tried to flash it to Aladdin EX it just sticks on erasing as seen in picture. I have tried holding power for 1 second write to chip not enabled, tried 2 seconds same result, tried more than 5 seconds same result...So I take it that chip bios is not writeable. Do I need to flash it with an external device / EEPROM programmer. Or if I take out the SST 49LF002B chip from Aladdin and replace it with SST 49LF020A will I then be able to flash it...
  5. I have Jafars programmed with os support and XblastOS for sale. It functions the same as an Xblast Aladdin, it's just better looking. Right now I have Clear/Copper + Black substrate + ENIG for $25 but I'll have some cheaper boards in other colors later in the month. Includes the needed 2x6 pin header, I also have LPC correctors for $2
  6. Hello, hoping someone can help here. I've made several xblast aladdin chips, as well as the Jafar chips, and quickboot will never boot the designated bios i have selected in Xblast Settings. No matter what i do, it always boots to the Xblast OS. For example: i have quickboot set to yes, i have X25035 as my 512k Bank(0), IND5003 as bank(1), and Cromwell as bank (2) aka Xblast. If i assign either the 256k or the 512k bios to launch pressing the Eject button, it will work as it's supposed to.
  7. Hi, I brought my og xbox back to live and it is still working. But I now want to upgrade it with a 2 TB disk. I read a lot here in the forum and tried to find the components and bios I need for upgrade. So far my upgrade components are as follows: WD RE4 2 TB SATA (WD2003FYYS) Unpartitioned; Deleted partitions with easeUs never installed in a xbox Delock 62510 SATA 2 IDE Adapter (Successor of Delock 61702); According to data sheet: contains Marvell 88SA8052 Asus 80wire 40pin IDE / PATA Cable OGXBox 2021 (v1.5.4) Installer Disk Thank you very much Actual setup: Xbox Rev. 1.0 WD 200 GB IDE (unlocked) Aladdin Advanced with Xecuter2 4983.06 BIOS (256kb) EvolutionX Dashboard (1.8.3752) First I thought, I will go with a LBA48 modified/fixed EvoX M8+ CEE BIOS. After some reading of topics/posts on this forum, I stumbled up on the Original Aladdin Advanced Mod Chip comment from SS_Dave, where he recommend "IND 5004.67" for the Aladdin Advanced. Furthermore on youtube I saw the new CerBios 2.0.3R and found it here on the forum. This is is also a 256kb BIOS and as I get it right a brand new one. I think I will go with XBMC4Gamers, but not sure. Now I am not sure which BIOS I should use/flash to the Aladdin Advanced. Do you may have recommondations for me, which BIOS I should use? In addtion: Is the following plan I build in my head "correct" Open box and disassemble Clean MB and DVD-Rom Remove clock capacitor Clean GPU and CPU from old paste Add new thermal paste on GPU and CPU Install new 2TB WD, Adapter and new 80wire IDE cable Reassemble / close box Depending on BIOS M8+ (EvoX.m8.cee.67.noDVD.evoxdash.256.bin) / IND 5004.67 (iND-BiOS.5004.67.bin) Cold boot to OGXBox 2021 Installer Disk Run 2.2.1.1. Flash EvoX 256KB Bios (1.0 – 1.4) OR Run 2.2.3.2. Flash iND Bios (1.0 - 1.4). Do I have to worry about the "Err16 fix" because I removed the Clock capacitor and want to install on a "brand new"/unpartitioned HDD? Run 3.1.2. AiO Setup a new large HDD Run 4.3.6. Install XBMC4Gamers 8.2. Reboot the System (Without DVD). CerBios 2.0.3R Completly follow 16TB in an OG Xbox? CERBIOS has arrived (Borderline OCD) Is the step "BIOS Selection" with FATXplorer possible if the HDD is only/lower 2 TB (as the description for "Cerbios, Titan" says -> Only available for disks larger than 2 TB.? Having fun with 2 TB of Space Thank you very much in advance for your reply and help. Best regards bachmma1
  8. Hi there, I'm back doing another 1.6 mod with an Aladdin XT Plus2. It's a stock 1.6 xbox, so I thought a modchip would be pretty straightforward... Added the pin header and the tutorial I followed said cut the pins marked with an X (hopefully this makes sense) X O O O O O O O X X O O I've rebuilt the LPC and cut the L Frame trace, linked the BT to enable chip at all times, soldering went smoothly, no traces pulled etc. This is my third xbox mod install hi When trying to turn it on, I get the 3 restarts and the green red flashing ring led Any help or checklists to work through would be hugely appreciated, I can add photos tomorrow Cheers, Bryce
  9. I have like 6 1.6 boards that I was going through and was pre-emptively rebuilding for OpenXenium chips last year. Fast Froward to this year and OpenXenium doubled in price and are usually sold out anyway. Decided that I'll just grab some of those cheap Aladdin XT Plus2 knock offs from aliExpress and buy one of those re-programmers for the chip. I have only installed OpenXeniums so this is my first experience with these Aladdin Chips. Was looking this guide here on the forums and instead of wiring the D0 to a point on the pin header like with OpenXenium it says to ground it to something on the board while the comments say to ground it to the D0 point on the chip. Just wondering what would be the best practice for these chips. Also in the steps it does not mention cutting the trace on the L-Frame which I always heard was a must with these Aladdin chips.
  10. I have 5 Aladdin XTs upgraded with 1MB SST49LF080As and reprogrammed to run XblastOS with 2 banks (1x 256KB, 1x 512KB.) $25 + shipping, Paypal goods and services I also have some v1.6 LPC rebuild boards if you'd like to buy them together. $28 + shipping for Aladdin + LPC board I'm in the USA and will ship internationally, just be aware of import duties and what to expect in your country. Send a message if you're interested.
  11. Thank you everyone in advance for all the help. I was given an Xbox and it doens't work, showed error code 07, I assumed dead hard drive so I wanted to do a hard mod. I have an early revision Xbox, just installed the Aladdin XT hard mod with EvoX BIOS, the install was a success and I get the logo in the top left on boot, followed by an error code 07. I have tried a few different things as I know that is the result of a hard drive time out. I've tried multiple IDE hard drives, known good IDE cable, known good DVD drive, I've unplugged the hard drive data cable and it still shows error code 07. I have a Hexen 2020 disc at the ready burned using Windows built in tool. I have ordered a few things; IDE to SATA converter to test with a known good SATA drive, and 80 wire IDE cable. Please let me know what I should try next. I am starting to believe the hard drive is actually fine, because when I unplugged the data cable it did not switch to an error code 8. Thank you!
  12. what is the modchip Aladdin version ???
  13. Hey, I have installed the chip successfully and flashed the M8plus16 bios to the 256k slot but my DVD drive is toast and wont read my setup dvd (I tried tweaking the pot in stages all the way down to 500 ohms but nothing). I have installed and formatted a new harddrive within Xblast but is there a way to install a dashboard without a dvd drive? Is there a Bios with a built in FTP server for example? Thanks!
  14. I bougt a faulty Xbox crystal. The Xbox dident turn on so I open it up and replaced 3 caps that was bad. When I tried it again it starts up, but freezes on the Xbox logo. I turned it off and tried again and suddenly it worked and went in to the games archive. Then I turned off and now it refuses to go onto the boot menu again. The unit keeps freezing at the xbox logo. I suspected bad solderjoints at the modchip so I resolder all joints including the joints on the Aladdin chip. But no luck. This unit has the clock capacitor besides the IDE connector and it looks fine. There is no visible corrotion on the board.
  15. Hi, a few months ago I bought 2 Xboxes to repair. I was happy to find out that one of them had a xt plus chip installed. I have tried flashing evo m8+ to the chip through hexen, unleashed x and xblast (ftp). Xblast got me as far as letting me confirm the flash by letting me press the required button combination. However it stated that the changes were not made and put be directly back to selecting the bios I wanted to use in order to flash the chip. I found online that this usually happens when the soldering of the has not been done correctly. Previously I have opened the Xbox in order to clean it, apply new thermal paste and recap the console. While I was doing this I saw that the xt plus was installed in a different manner as what I have seen previously. Could this be the reason why I am not able to re-flash the chip? I was thinking on desoldering the chip and installing it so it can be plugged in the pin header as normally. Could this solve the issue. I am quite new to modding Xboxes but so any advise would be great.
  16. So I had modded my v 1.4 Xbox with an Aladdin XT Plus and was working fine. Can't recall what I did but the Xbox started FRAGing with the D0 grounded and modchip installed. I also have a v 1.0 that I subsequently modded. I can't get either of them to work with the Aladdin. I even ordered another one (both are from Aliexpress) to see if it was an issue with the Aladdin chip. Both boot fine with D0 not grounded and both reboot 3 times and FRAG with D0 soldered to ground and the Aladdin installed. I have reflowed and checked my soldering. D0 has continuity to ground on both the front and back of the board. I have tried both Aladdins in both Xbox's with the same result. I did notice that the D0 pad on the Aladdin does seem to have continuity with ground when plugged in????? Same thing on both modchips. I also tried reflashing the SST chip manually with a XGPro flasher to see if it was the bios. No change. BT is soldered to ground on the Aladdins and has continuity to ground when plugged in. I have looked at a number of other threads where there was a similar issue/symptoms but didn't see any with a fix or resolution. I am at a loss here. Either I am just absolutely missing something here or the Aladdins no longer work with the Xbox. Although my 1.4 was working not sure what changed .. maybe there are bad components on the modchips? Thoughts would be appreciated.
  17. I got a free Xbox v1.0 that had Error 21. I cleaned the board, replaced the clock cap with one I bought online (no leakage), installed an Aladdin XT Plus 2 modchip, and used TrueHeXen 2021 to erase the hard drive and install UnleashX. Now, the console turns on without giving an error, but this is where the real pickle is: 1. Trying to boot MS DASH from the menu brings up Error 21 2. Trying to load Burnout 3 (an Xbox Live game) freezes as it loads. 3. Trying to change dashboards (I.e. UnleashX to XBMC4Gamers) ALWAYS fails with an error and no description. This is both with the TrueHeXeN disk or from within UnleashX. As some additional background, it’s a 1.0 and I cannot flash a 512kb BIOS, and it actually says “BIOS: Unknown” in the TrueHeXen disk. I’ve also tried clearing the cache to see if that’s preventing the game from running and it’s not that.
  18. I tried to install an Aladdin modchip on my TSOP'ed 1.0 xbox. I overestimated my soldering ability and managed to seriously botch the installation. It looks like I damaged the pads near D0. When I try to boot the xbox, it FRAGs. I'd like to get it back to a working state. Do I have any options for repair or am I SOL?
  19. Just installed an Aladdin in a perfectly working 1.6 because I was bored. Install went smoothly and connections are great throughout. However, I’m getting the three boot cycle and then black screen with no audio or video. Any help would be appreciated. I have all day to fiddle with it to try and fix things. I did not cut the L trace and instead have connected to the right leg of the accessible transistor on top to prevent the led from always being on when power is connected. I can’t post a pic because they all end up being over 2mb. Edit: everything stills works as normal with the chip removed from the header so nothing is screwed up internally. I’m thinking maybe a bad chip?
  20. I’ve recently installed an Aladdin mod chip in my original Xbox after it stopped showing a video output. I am assuming that it was the original tsop chip that had died on the motherboard and therefore installing a mod chip would be able to successfully bypass it. However after installing the mod chip it won’t get past the initial boot screen. It just loses video output and then comes up with error 21. (It also doesn’t always boot successfully after pressing the power button, sometimes there is just no video output) Pretty sure it’s a version 1.4-1.5 For the Aladdin install I’ve soldered d0 to ground and bt on the chip to ground on the chip. Does anyone have any suggestions to get it working?
  21. Hi there, Noob that just join this community for some solid advice/direction for my upgrade, I have a working 1.6A xbox with a Super Aladdin Live modchip running XBMC on a 80 Gb IDE HDD My aim is to upgrade the HDD to a 500 Gb Sata HDD (I know I could go bigger) and also upgrade to Rocky 5 instead.... I currently have: - The 80 wire/40 pin IDE cable (ATA 100/133) - IDE to Sata converter - 500Gb Sata HDD What are my options? Do I have to hot swap the HDD with the disk drive with a program running on the xbox ? Thanks in advance for any help or links for guides/programs to help me !!
  22. Hi. I recently picked up a 1.4 Xbox that has an Aladdin Advance modchip installed. It was flashed with X2 4981.67_256k.bin (MD5 b6eb9fb7b79795c962b7f998ee4a8694). It's now flashed with EvoX M8+ since the X2 BIOS doesn't support LBA48. I discovered that the modchip D0 point was attached the top side D0 point on the motherboard, and was held in place with tape. This wasn't very reliable since even a small nudge could disable the chip. I soldered the underside D0 point to the motherboard ground instead, and now it works every time. I have one issue left and that is to enable the modchip permanently. I believe I'm supposed to bridge the modchip BT point to the modchip ground (bottom left pin in the image below). I detached the BT wire on the modchip but not on the motherboard, and I didn't touch the L1 and L2 wires. Unfortunately it didn't work. The XBox boots with a black screen and no sound. I undid the BT bridge and now the modchip is in the state it was when I got it, except for the D0 point. Can someone please explain how I'm supposed to enable the modchip permanently?
  23. My setup: -Xbox 1.6 -Aladin modchip -500gb sata hdd -adapter sata ide pretty new and funcitonal -truHexen2021 boot disc, booting just fine After i've managed to install everything with the boot disc, the console hangs in evox logo. If boot with the disc, it loads ok. Steps: -Boot disc, prompt "new hdd", formated -Hdd tools, formated again with xbpartitioner 1.3, leaving only f partition 430gb~ -Created only F partition, not g. -Install dashboard: xbmc4gamers: prompt: use as main one? Answer: Yes (on f partition) -Clear cache, check if f is created on file manager, apps folder ok, xbmc4gamers ok. -Took off the disc -Boot xbox -Evox logo hang screen. microsoft text below the screen Did I miss something? Thank you if you read till here.
  24. I have just FTP'd CoinOps 8 over to my newly mod chipped Xbox but there is no Emulator option in the menu so I can't load it. I can see an option to 'format' menu but it asks for a password to be entered to access it. Also I have 'HeXEN tools' and 'Ndure tools' but these too require passwords, although these require pressing buttons in the correct order. Is there any commonly used passwords I can try to use or should I contact the seller I purchased the modchip off about this?
  25. Aplogies for the noobness here My xbox will not load unleashx on the new hd often. it either takes along time to load or fails. it does not load evox in corner also. Xbox ntsc-j 1.0 2 tb WD Green aladian xt2 hard mod instal issues. - doesn not load evox in conrer anymore after bios flash - boot looping, freezing, not loading into unleash, going into red green flash after 3 boot attempts. -if loads, often after a reboot will decide to 'take a break' boot loop into flashing lights, black screen. -no EVOX logo with or without hd anymore ( this makes me think its a bios issue) -loading hexen to install xmbc or try reflash bios is always unsuccessful. -can load ogxbox just unsure what to instal. Previous notes , install and before issues: -Removed capacitor, installed chip, directed d0 to wrong point (plese see pic) still successfully launched EVOX. -would not load hexen or new hd. redirected the d0 to proper point then had boot problems. starting logo would freeze. -Reflowed aladdin pin headers. -changed wiring back (picture - d0 point to ledhd - i did not clearly understand pdf install guide) hexen loaded. -freezed once. flashed bios 480p an d couldnt get logo screen. reverted back. could load new hdd. -installed ntsc package and got error on 'nodvd' (forgot this part kind of), still loaded into partioner. -partioned hd using 947-1 method (2tbhd) rebooted but froze. -reloaded hexen, reinstalled ntsc p[ackage succefully with no errors. -reformated drives again with 946 +1 method. -rebooted and got power boot loops and no evox logo. -also got the issue LBA48 bios issues when checking reformat drives. however drives are formatted. Thought it maybe hd issues or power issue or ide/sata issues but havetested with nad without hd and get same result. unless i leave the xbox to rest it wont reboot. I can get into a succeful unleshx dash with hd partioned. it just doesnt run smooth or seem right. Plesea see pics. Ive burnt ogxbox disc to try and instal bios but unsure which one honestly. but this randomly loads . I have a feeling ive done something to the modchip. iread that the bios on hexen for the chip was junk but have no idea how to instal a new bios now. I hope someone can help https://imgur.com/JB1rbXv https://imgur.com/eTbE2sJ https://imgur.com/P4YXvm5 https://imgur.com/piCzr6M
