About Me

  1. Since buying the classic back in 2001 & modding it, then three more in 2004 & modding those also, this week i decided to crack them all open and get them back up together after many, many years of service.... untouched! The upgraded HDD's are getting noisy & the rom trays stopped working way back when, so i would just ftp games across. I have so far stripped & cleaned them thoroughly, desoldered the clock cap in two and fixed the rom draw trays in all consoles. ... however i need to advice on parts! At least one of the rom drives are failing to read discs so i want to replace the laser, as tweaking the potentiometer would be only be a temp fix imo. Where would be the place to go to buy * Replacement lasers * Timer caps ( this is what im considering atm) 5.5v/1F https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/283213698254?hash=item41f0da14ce:g:exAAAOSw8-lccKry * Belts, as one of those is looking a little warped ? I found some stuff over at Aliexpress (modchips) but unsure about the rest Giving back>> I found that over time the case screws had become sloppy and would not tighten even though the top screw case standoff's were not cracked. which is the usual case. The internals of them are basically just bored out to much. To fix, i cut the end off a Cable tie (Zip tie) to match the length of the stand off and inserted it. Thats it, all tightened up as should be at the cost and ease of nothing Hope this help someone.
  2. Hi, I recently diug out my old Xbox from the loft and after replacing the blown capictors managed to nurse it back to life. It has a solderless chip installed (not sure which one) on a 1.4 board. My intention was then to clean it up and look to install some games and arcade emulators. Anyway, I somehow deleted the contents of the f: drive and need advice on how to restore. Can I just create a new dvd installation disc and create a fresh hdd disc? Ultimately I might like to replace the 80Gb IDE drive with a larger capacity SATA one so don't mind losing the current hdd contents.
  3. Hi, I'm having a really strange issue with some OpenXenium I've built that is driving me crazy. Basically, after flashing XeniumOS with Xenium Tool and hotswap method, on the first boot the modchip works fine: XeniumOS is loaded, I can flash other bios (and I can boot them!), so everything works as intended. However, if I reboot the Xbox the chip doesn't work anymore and the console FRAG. If I reflash XeniumOS it works again at first boot, but - as before - when rebooting xbox everything I get is a FRAG. I tried turning on with eject button or recovery switch, but nothing change. I tried different dump of XeniumOS and used also the official release of 2.3.1 XeniumOS. It simply acts as a modchip without any bios. It's really something strange because this is happening with all of the five chips I've assembled, with exactly the same behaviour. Thinking of a bad batch of Xilinx or flash I bought another set, but even with them I've the same issue. I really can't understand what's going on. It's like the flash get corrupted after every first boot of XeniumOS. The Xbox boots without any issues with Aladdin Xblast (which I use to do the hotswap method), so I don't think it's something related to the console. I've upgraded RAM to 128MB, but I don't think it's a problem for openxenium. I program the CPLD with a DIY Xilinx Parallel programmer and Impact (using .jed or .svf) without any error and CPLD works fine, it's recognised by xenium tools, I can change the colour of the LED etc. Any suggestions? I've searched on the internet, but could not find anything useful. Thanks
  4. So yesterday i decided to flash a new bios to my V1.1 Xbox Modchip Super Aladdin with the SST49LF020 to remove de DVD drive check and used EVtool to edit a EvoX M8+ 256K Bios, but me being stupid i also decided to change the EvoX logo to be sure the Bios was indeed changed, big mistake. The flashing completed, the Xbox turned off and now when i press for 1 second to activate the chip i get no signal from the TV, no animation, no sound nothing. I even put Hexen 2018 but nothing, it's dead. But it boot to the stock dashboard with a quick press. I've been searching for hours, but still have some questions: 1) If i buy one of those Aladdin XT PLUS2 XT+4032 that come with a SST49LF020A can i just replace that with mine and it will work? I saw that it comes pre-flashed with a EvoX M8 bios? 2) Do you know were to buy just the SST49LF020 with the Bios? I feel very sad about this, because i treasure my consoles and this was my main and first Original Xbox and would like to restore it.
  5. I messed up. Was fiddling around with configmagic trying to lock the HDD on my chipped Xbox 1.6 so I can transfer and use the HDD on my softmodded Xbox. I followed this guide here: https://www.biline.ca/xbox_uxe_hd2.htm I was able to update the EEPROM as stated and locked the HDD so it can be used on the softmodded Xbox. That worked fine. But now my chipped Xbox turns on but no picture or video whatsoever. I don't know what to do next...
  6. Hello everyone, I have a little problem with a softmoded Xbox with an Ndure, XBMC4Gamers main dashboard, Unleash alternative dashboard and equipped with a 500 GB hard drive. The console has about 80 working games on F and G partitions. The problem is that some get corrupted when I try to put others on the hard drive. The home artwork disappears and sometimes I can no longer launch the game. I noticed that some files were getting corrupted. The copied games do not launch or I have an "unreadable disc" message ... I have tried various things but have not been able to resolve this issue. I forgot to say that I have about 30 GB left available on G ... I would like to point out that this problem is only present on the G partition, the one I mainly use in fact ... I even tried to copy games via DVD2XBOX but they are not copied correctly and will not launch, while the application does not report any copy error ... After having thought about it, I tell myself that what produces these "instabilities" or these bugs is the fact of having via the FTP recorded and then erased such or such game many times, which causes the hard drive to be completely fragmented. I understand that it is useless in principle to defragment the HDD but at some point it must be necessary ... No? Has anyone ever had this problem? What I plan to do is move all the functional content to an external HDD via FTP and then re-inject everything cleanly so that I can then have these remaining 30 GB on the G partition without any problem. Thank you for reading me, hoping that some will provide me with an explanation and possibly an alternative solution ...
  7. I have made a digital copy of this game on the HDD and I get a disc error right at the beginning, after Microsoft logo, that tells me to press A then the game shows the message again on and on. I've tried to launch it both from Evox and XBMC (hard disk game launch, not DVD disc launch). Maybe there's some setting to change or some file to patch ( I heard about Amped2 xbe fix, not sure it's the same case here) but I couldn't find anything on google Pls help
  8. Hello, guys Today I updated my softmoded Xbox with Rocky5 softmod and xbmx4gamers ...everything was ok, until I started to download artwork downloader which is over 600 mb and placed it in E: In the same time I uploaded a game with size of 4gb by mistake in E: again instead of F: So, now the xbox starts green animation and flashes like to start the dashboard, but continue on black screen. My only suggestion is that I consumed the entire E: and on that drive is the xbmc4gamers folder, too....I dont know, but if the dashboard need some space on start maybe that cause the black screen...any ideas to help??? Also, is it possible to connect the hdd to a pc and xplorer360 app to erace that game from E: and to make some space on that drive??? Any help is welcome! Thank you in advance!!!
  9. So i have got an xbox revision 1.0 for parts. Inside the motherboard was pretty much immaculate with non-leaked clock cap. Sadly the xbox just FRAGged. I did lots of troubleshooting including dumping the eeprom with raspberry pi, testing it with different psu or trying the TSOP bank split trick for coma console. I thought, that the TSOP must be faulty so i ordered aladdin xt. However the holes on 1.0 are filled with solder and hard to clean up. In the end, i soldered each leg of the pinheader individually. It looks ugly, but there are at least pretty wet solder joints and modchips do fit in it. Sadly it still frags. Images: I have: 1. Grounded the bottom d0 point 2. Grounded BT on the aladdin 3. Tested the aladdin in my 1.6 and then reflashing it with indbios 4. Replaced a R7D4 resistor i accidentally desoldered I also remember, there was possibly a short at Q7R1 part. I fixed it, but two pins next to each other are still shorted according to multimeter. The two pins are those closest to the Q in the Q7R1 marking (left down side on the bottom side picture)
  10. After 15 years ive pulled my xbox out the box. Still running clean. Its a 1.6 running xecuter 3. Clock keeps resetting and wont store in memory which i (let me no if there is a fix for it) Hard drive has been upgraded to a 320gb ide hd but i might swap it for a 1tb
  11. Hello people. Finally ive found a forum. Ive just dug my xbox out. Now my question I run the xecuter 3 mod chip with custom front panel. As far as i no if u hold white button on the controller u can get into the settings menu (fan speed colours bla bla) All i want to no is. When i upgrade to the new hard drive. Will i have this option again to bring up the menu (white button on controller) or will i have to install it to the new hard drive. Its beem like 15 years since i last used it. Any help guys
  12. Greetings! I used the evox_m8+67-NO-DVD.bin bios to flash my xbox and now when I boot there's a blank screen and the dvd drive light is orange. What to do to fix that? I have a version 1.0 xbox. Thank for any assistance.
  13. So i tried to upgrade my 1.1 xbox to 128mb. I installed the first chip successfully and xblastOS flashed to TSOP said "Success". Then i attempted to install second chip on bottom side, but xbox started fragging. I fixed up some shorts i found, but it still fragged. Then i measured according to datasheet, that power to RAM is shorted to ground. The shorted pins most likely were: 66 and 65. However it's possible, that i used the chip pinout wrongly and i measured short between VDD and VDDQ, which should be fine. Even after fixing the shorts, it still fragged. After (destructively, but fortunately without ripping any trace) removing the both installed chips, it still does very weird frag. Basically the LED lights up only for short while and then turns off. Xbox's fan runs for a while and then it reboots. This gets repeated indefinitely, but rarely you get normal FRAG and xbox stays on. I measured 2.65V going to the VDDQ pin and the RAM power rail or any of the main power rails are NOT shorted now. ANyone knows if i can fix it? All my other xboxes are either fragging (i have 1.0 i got fragging, but it might be TSOP issue as there are no signs of tracerot, no leaking caps and apparently TSOP might naturally degrade now, so i ordered modchip and will try to install it) or they are 1.6, which suck IMAGES: https://imgur.com/a/z74Mzxe Here is reference image how i installed one of the chips, that worked well (the first one). I guess it was pretty good: https://imgur.com/a/6DlSKuY. The residue is either flux or denaturated ethanol i used to clean it up. VIDEO:
  14. I tried to upgrade my V1.0 Xbox with 4 Samsung version F RAM chips but it won’t boot. I’ve got an OpenXenium mod chip installed but I’ve tried booting both with and without yet it still flashes. Anyone know what this means/ anyway to fix it? Any help would be much appreciated.
  15. I have a xbox 1.0 here that fragged the day I got it. I thought "oh HDD probably died I'll just install a modchip". Well after installing said modchip I'm still met with 3 power cycles and the red and green lights with no error codes. Ive checked my soldering, checked that D0 is grounded, checked all caps, I cleaned the board after removing the clock cap, inspected traces for any signs of trace rot. Are there any caps that could go that just wouldn't show any sign of swelling or leaking that could cause issues?
  16. I've done the softmod with rocky5 and changed to NTSC in nk patcher and everythings good with componant cable picture wise in dashboard. I've tried launching tiger woods 2004 pal game via disc and just get blank screen ? is there a specific setup in the video options to get pal games to work once you change to NTSC ?
  17. Hello everybody. I'm currently getting back into the Xbox OG modding scene after a long break. . . I currently have two modded Xbox's with different chips fitted, currently trying to ID what chips are currently fitted?? One of the Xbox's has a large hard drive fitted, and the other is standard, any recommendations on what hard-drive to go for.? Best regards Josh
  18. i flash custom evox bios, after that it just not boot, and switches to stock bios. i use raincoat to flash. board is 1.6 and i use evox.m8plus.v16.fc.137.bin from aid 4.5.3 i have no idea what i do wrong. i then reflash it with hexen 2017 and it work OK.
  19. As above, The chipped xbox I mod'd a while ago with the SD card reader is locking up after the flubber screen. It displays the Ind Bios screen then just locks up totally. What is likely to cause this? Hardware or something to do with the SD card? Cheers guys
  20. Hi, recently got my xbox out of the loft, must have been there at least 10-12 years. It has an aladdin modchip inside and when booted up holding the power button shows executer2 under the xbox logo. I've been getting the error 16 code when booted up normal and if I put my original hard drive in i get error 5. Ive removed the clock capacitor and cleaned up around the area it was. I've tried to use both hexen and slayer dvd-r both burned using imgburn at 2x speed but after the flubber animation and xbox logo the screen goes blank. I've left the xbox running whilst on blank screen for around 2 hours to see if there is any change but there isn't. Xbox had Agent under fire in with it also so I'm assuming it has something to do with the modchip? I'm also new to all this modchip etc Any help is appreciated, thanks.
  21. It goes through intro and goes to profiles whereas it used to go emulator menu. I live in Missouri and can't find anyone to help. My email address is [email protected]. I'm willing to compensate anyone that can help. It belongs to a 6yr old as I got it for him last Christmas. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Ty
  22. I swapped in a 1TB HDD replacing my original 10GB drive. Is there any reason to hold on to the old hard drive at this point or can I safely recycle it?
  23. Basics: XBox 1.4 with iND TOSP 5003 (also tried the 5004) / "Rest is stock" Yesterday i have changed some of the old caps which are bulky. I started with the 3 in front of the CPU and the clock cap. Everything went pretty smooth. Then i changed one of the 1500uF 6,3V "metal" caps (In the Picture (which isn't mine!) market with a question mark). Then i testet the box again cuz the cap was a little bit of a hassle because of the old solder. After that i noticed realy high temps on the GPU and a higher temp on the CPU. I have to admid that i didn't paid to much attencion on the temps after i testet the box in the first place. Shame on me. So i fired up my other 1.4 to compare the temps. The result of it is, that the one with the new caps has a ~10°C to 15°C hotter CPU and a ~20°C to 25°C hotter GPU (~55°C - 60°C) on idle! So i ripped out the 1500uF 6,3V and put the old (metal one) back but still high temps. I assume now that the problem are the three caps in front of the CPU (3300uF 6,3V). Could that be possible? I mean they are about 4000uF for what i have testet them before i soldered them in... That give me a little headache now. Any ideas? Greets Mrs. Edit : Stupid me, forgot the picture.
  24. I got an xbox cheap as the drive didn't open - easy fix I thought and was delighted to find it was indeed an easy fix and that the drive worked. I turned it off and came back 6 hours later to find it was quite warm on the side where the power supply is located inside the xbox. Is this normal or something to worry about? Thanks in advance.
  25. SO when I turn it on, it starts and stops a few times before it finally gets going and then when it does I get no image or sound and the light just flashes red and green. At first I thought it was my IDE adapter on my new hard drive, but when I replaced the unnamed brand one with a startech it still did it. To be clear, my xbox DOES work if I keep fucking with the power button and I can play games normally (Have not extensively tested to see if it randomly shuts off or anything after a long period of time. Anyone know what the problem could be?
