  1. Oh, has this box been fun Started with no power at all, won't even blink. Opened it, 1.6 with Xenium Blue in it, bulging caps abound....bleh. Recapped (quite the adventure), but unsure of the work. Box powers up now, but red-lights with E09, HDD access. HDD sounds fine / feels fine, so it's either 1) IDE cable, 2) craptastic recap work ("recrap"? haha), or 3) incorrectly keyed HDD. Tested IDE cable, not an issue, same results. No way to test recrap, IMO. Working towards incorrectly keyed HDD, but don't have backup. Here's where the fun starts. Hitting the eject button activates the chip, boots to Xenium OS 2.3.0. Great, EEPROM tools: backup EEPROM: to the chip itself. Setup FTP / Telnet / all that, but ALL clients are showing empty when connected. How can I download the EEPROM backup off the chip itself? Have looked at disabling passive mode, etc. but can't get anything to work / show downloadable data. Remember when responding, no HDD access. Disk tools is showing "Lock Hard Drive", but doesn't work. "Format partitions" gives "Failed to format partition". Can't tell if it's recrap, HDD is actually dead, or just incorrect key. Any help appreciated, this has been quite the adventure so far. Also, if anybody in the San Diego area is doing Xbox work, PM me, zero interest in shipping. Several boxes on hand with various problems, including corroded traces, which I just can't handle at this point
  2. Recently acquired 3 Xboxes that I have tsop flashed with Cerbios. At first I purchased a cheap sata to IDE adapter and quickly found when I connected it I had no access to the DVD rom. I was also using the 40 wire IDE cable at the time so, I purchased an 80 wire IDE cable hoping it would solve the problem but unfortunately still no DVD rom access. I then purchased the startech adapter believing it would indeed fix the issue but alas, still no DVD rom access. With the startech adapter if I enable the option in the cerbios.ini file for DVD & HDD I get error 13 no mater which UDMA bios I flash and can't even boot into safe mode. So, doing this requires me to remove the drive and connect it to my pc to edit the ini file back to HDD & No DVD. Once I do this I can boot with up to UDMA mode 5 enabled. I was using old laptop sata drives until today when I got an SSD with the startech adapter but it still does the same thing. It also doesn't matter which position I move the jumper to on the adapter. Master and Cable select both do the same thing in all 3 Xboxes. Any ideas?
  3. Hello, yesterday I was using XBPartitioner 1.3 to edit the partitions, but the tool was on the HDD and I wasn't using the HeXEn Engineering Disc. After i rebooted the Xbox it gave me error 16. I tried burning the files for the HeXEn disc but it wouldn't boot into anything and just kept giving me the same error. Earlier today I tried to connect the HDD to my PC and it gave me a password screen for the drive. I tried both passwords from the hddinfo.txt I have from my backup of the drive but it didn't work and said "HDD is locked." What should I do now?
  4. Maybe someone has explored this already but I haven't found anything so far. My idea is to split the SATA connection on a hard drive, connect it to a USB adapter, and have the other end of the adapter connected to a female USB port on the case. If this would work at all, an obvious issue would be powering the drive while the console is off so I'm thinking a SATA to USB y-adapter. 2 ports would need to be plugged in, one data/power and one power. Another (stupid) idea is using the Xbox's power for the drive, hooking up the optical drive's power connections to an external on/off switch to force error 12. Maybe useful for locked drives? Not sure, I'm curious if the HDD would be safe to connect to or even connectable at the error screen while still having the IDE cable plugged in or if a SATA selector/switch would be needed to achieve the same effect of a hotswap. I'm also not sure which of the optical drive's power connections would need to be on the on/off switch to achieve the error, likely not all of them and a 24 connection switch would probably have to be custom so that's a no-go if it is all 12 wires. The other way looks easier/safer and would probably be the only one worth doing. Anyway, the point would be fast read/write speeds without opening the console ever again. Edit: Did some more research and I'm pretty this is impossible since you can't split a hard drives data connection, sad about it
  5. Hey guys, so I've have a softmodded OG Xbox that I hadn't used for a few years, but was tempted to just play some games on it casually after hearing the news of the insignia project aiming to revive OG Xbox Live again. Now I accept full responsibility for the following; I decided to be a total jackass and wonder "what would happen if I tried to actually access Xbox Live on one of these old games right now?", not knowing it would actually install a dashboard update, and gave me the 21 error code. (it probably didn't help that the game in question was booted through UnleashX either) So after rebooting, it takes me to the normal OG Xbox dashboard, and I can't find a way back into UnleashX. It does still appear to still be softmodded however, since it's a PAL system and is still allowing me to change my resolutions to 480p/720p/1080i, which obviously isn't normally possible on PAL. I've also tried going through the old Splinter Cell softmod route, but in that case it just reboots the game, and the OG dashboard won't boot a Hexen disc either, at least not the one I tried. Just overall seeing how much the OG Xbox softmodding scene has evolved since I've done anything to mine, I feel a bit overwhelmed and not really sure how to tackle this issue, if possible :/ so I've come to this forum hoping someone can point me in the right direction!

  7. Hey all, wasn’t sure if this belonged in the bug thread or not. I have an N64Freak box that was still set to German when I received it, so i tried to use the MS Dash from XboxHDM23 by FTP’ing to C:\ and launching it from there. This just caused the console to restart back to XBMC4GAMERS and things got weird. Everything else works just fine but the file explorer just loads forever. I left it for about 3 hours last night and it went nowhere. Wasn’t sure what to do so I used the Clear Cache script but no dice. Any suggestions here?
