  1. Correct no soft mod is needed with a chip. A rebuild board is necessary for a v1.6 or manually wire the traces. This post covers SSD concerns. I personally think it's not an issue. The drive mostly reads and does not write unnecessary data. 2 years of formats and changes to my setups if it was going to go, it should have by now. I have Samsung EVOs, SanDisk ultra plus, Lexar blue, and some Microcenter economy cards --I think it's Kioxia-- various sizes and speeds. I have had no issues using the stock IDE cable that comes with the system. Speed from the Adaptor is more than sufficient, pulls faster than a 500GB ATA drive /Yeah ATA 7200RPM/ I have had a HItachi SATA 1TB that took forever to spin up and had to power cycle to boot half the time. Most people Around here use the SATA drives. If going Western Digital no green drives. Get a Startec SATA to IDE and save yourself the hassle if going with a SATA drive. You will also need an 80Wire IDE cable with that approach.
  2. With the choice of a v1.0 you can a TSOP It involves tiny soldering. Good news is no chip is necessary bad news, it can easily turn into a brick. You have mentioned trace repairs so we know you have confidence around a soldering iron.I can Confirm a 512GB SDXC SD card works in the adaptor mentioned. The Xenium chip just slips off the soldered header you install to the LPC, it is swapable. You need the ability to run unsigned code for this process. Softmod the console first, Rocky5 is my suggestion. This requires a compatible game DVD and game save exploit on the HDD to start the process. I used Splinter Cell, run the game once before the saves get moved to the HDD. I have not used any other game. Refer to required items, Fatxplorer, USB cable, saves and compatible flash drive, from the hatted gentleman above. Do not Null the EEPROP /Insignia Setup requirement/ When we can run unsigned code the soldering can commence. With the Xenium, get the chip and solder it into the LPC header as directed. From Mr.Mario and find Insignia XBL compatible BIOS. We can help with that don't worry. Drop an update when you're ready to move to the next step on either direction you choose.
  3. I also do not totally agree with Pence but it will get the job done with no chips and a cloned larger HDD. What is given in the video can be built upon and the software usage is solid in its demonstration. We need simplicity not complexity when it comes to new members and new builders. I misspoke on the xenium compatibility, but UDMA BIOS ENHANCEMENTS DO NOT WORK WITH THE ABOVE SD TO IDE ADDAPTOR It is of my opinion many new members have no clue what that means and not it is not very encouraging. I mentioned its use because it is simple no 80 wire, no HDD adaptor no HDD confusion green or blue blah blah blah ......... We need is a basic idea of the proposed build KIT352 is after in cost and expectations. Thus far we have these requirements and resources 100 games storage approximately 500GB No interest in emulation of previous console generations 2 Xboxes v1.0 and a 1.6 and a failed HDD An interest in Insignia XBL The first question is what version Xbox does KIT352 want to use for this project ?
  4. Alright cool, then you will be working with the 1.6 and returning to the 1.0 later. Do you plan on backing up the save files or starting fresh? I recommend LPC rebuild board most chips come with them now. 80 wire IDE cable a Startec SATA to IDE adaptor if going spinning disc. I use SD card IDE adaptors with 40 wire no problem no. A copy of the OGX install disc and Insignia XBL enables BIOS. You should choose what replacement dash interests you and become familiar with its quarks. The Open Xenium chip does not support UDMA speed BIOS An interesting thing that does not get mention a lot is XEMU emulation works with insignia and can test changes and files without real hardware. Amazon.com: GINTOOYUN SD SDHC SDXC MMC to 3.5" 40Pin Male IDE Adapter Card SD Memory Card to IDE Hard Disk Drive Adapter : Electronics This guy does soft mods and has done a lot of videos over the years.
  5. Welcome to the forum. It appears as if you're hot to jump right in. The price on modchips has risen a lot in the last year. Open xenium looks to be an option in the USA at the moment on ebay. For 100 games a larger HDD is going to be needed. I perceive a knowledge gap exists that we on this site can overcome, but we just need a little more of a base understanding to work with. Check this Video out From Mr. Mario It covers a lot of the hard mods and chip stuff. I have used all but the Aladdin chips and have done some TSOPS also. Let us know if you have any questions, as it is nice to see renewed interest with Insignia now launched.
  6. I would first consider what setup is best for your goals. Large 2TB drives, for me is not worth headache. If you're up to the challenge and pure knowledge aspect go for it. It is awesome to have the entire game library in one place. but after sifting the garbage, 500GB is more than enough for the standout titles I continue to come back to enjoy. That mentioned, emulation is much more stable, faster and easier on less expensive hardware options. Media storage and playback often cap at 720p without dropped frames. I do not understand why space is so sought after with little to now benefit. The LBA and UDMA BIOS files around actually broke compatibility with most of my setups. If Insignia XBL is the path you're after IND Bios is what I use also have had M8+ connect flawless too. Make sure they have XBL enabled patches. I can get behind the OGX install disc. I have used Slayers and Hexan. OGX takes that longest to boot from, almost concerning at times, but is the most comprehensive utility to date and also contains all the best replacement dashboards.
  7. Kinad rare and expensive but slots into the controller the player is using. The adaptor you have in another controller port most likely has no idea what to do with a keyboard. I could be wrong, but best guess.
  8. PSO Schthack had 24 active Xbox users today through Insignia, unfortunately I can't be the only one in the dark. I can be content that I was able to even make an online connection with Insignia. Time will tell when everything sorts itself out.
  9. Honest question, have you checked the download section of the Action replay file saves from this site ?
  10. A general inquiry for a PSO setup guide would be helpful from anyone who can currently connect. To play on the 2 servers, Schthack or Sylverant over Insignia, what is required after selection from its dashboard selection tab ?
  11. Same issue on a xenium modchip with a version 1.6. Has me going crazy also. I got mine to boot to Xbmc4gamers 1.4001 test build with this BIOS x2.5035.v16plus.137.bin Make sure you have the dashboard paths set in the x2config.ini file The attached .ini most likely will not work for your setup use it as a reference. I have not found a M8 or IND BIOS to boot this system for Insignia or at all. x2config.ini
  12. After some though over the last few years, it is my belief the SDRAM does not POST when a 1.4ghz is under clocked below 100 FSB. The JEDEC standard was 66.66mhz 100mhz or 133mhz. I had planned to return to testing but wanted to reach a stable 1.4ghz build in XBMX4GAMERS first. Sadly, I have not been able to sustain a dashboard without locking up, let alone a game. I became frustrated and set 2 of these beauties aside. Input on working builds would be helpful.
  13. It's welcome to see an update on this after 2 years. To play DOAU and PSO would be nice.
  14. I'm after a 1000mhz 128 to down clock dual BIOS for compactivity. Put me down on the list.
  15. It feels as you have a X3 collection and these face plates to be the takeoffs. I will inquire on the rest of the blue shell. Is that unit for sale? the I Have a complete inbox DOA but want to use a blue as my main.
  16. I have read this a few times but do not fully understand what you have to sell. From what I understand you have standard black units with modchips and some shells? What spare parts do you have?
  17. As the only thing left bothering me on my build this maybe an easy fix. How does one make the /D: image this disc shown below in the photos.
  18. Issue has been solved. Mixed results at first. XBMC4GAMERS froze on the settings menu. A reboot resulted in a hang on the iND splash looking for dash. The HDD and adapter was placed in another 128mb box same BIOS no hang up at all. I swapped back immediately, and the 1st boots normal. I flashed x2 4983.67 and same hang. This ruled out a BIOS issue. The real problem was an intermittent open 80wire IDE cable. I have read of this before from SSDave but never just shrugged it off. Thanks for all the help and rundown of Ind bios config.
  19. I had no idea this was a common issue. Nice thanks man. I will get on this after work. This has been bothering me for years. One last question. DEFAULTXBE=\Device\CdRom0\default.xbe DASH1=\Device\Harddisk0\Partition2\evoxdash.xbe DASH2=\Device\Harddisk0\Partition1\evoxdash.xbe DASH3=\Device\Harddisk0\Partition2\rescuedash\UnleashX\unleashx.xbe I want to only have XBMC4GAMERS dash do I need the evoxdash/unleashx ? Just to make sure its DASH1=\Device\Harddisk0\Partition2\XBMC4GAMES\default.xbe
  20. Any reason why OGX HDD setup does not boot. Looking for clarification as it looks to have all the files in the correct spots on /C: and /E: Do you have a link for the 5003.67 from Rocky5 Would like to add I have switched the config for 128 with no result. Other known good HDDs and setups also just hang and crash on dashboards only with iND BIOS
  21. I have been tinkering on and off for a few years now. I have some 128mb N64 Freak boxes they were tsoped from him with ind BIOS. My issue is I have never got them to boot with any kind of stability or repeatability. With mod chips and other BIOS X3/X2/m8 no issue. I have placed the config file in the correct locations. DASH1=\Device\Harddisk0\Partition2\1evoxdash.xbeDASH2=\Device\Harddisk0\Partition1\Apps\XBMC4Gamers\Default.xbeDASH3=\Device\Harddisk0\Partition1\Dash\EvolutionX\evoxdash.xbeDEFAULTXBE=\Device\CdRom0\default.xbe It boots once and then hangs once power cycled. I can come back and hit the switch and its fine. HDD for testing is only 64 GB SD card on 80 wire. OGX 2021 Fatxplorer beta 3.0 method for HDD creation is unstable and crashes.
  22. Check my post on the similar issue. Yes, I Had to FTP dashboards to my softmod boxes. I got the stock dashboards not from disc. Just a raw clean dump around the net. Also what soft mod did you use Hexan, SID Rocky or OGX ? If its old like you mention, 10 years plus, Hexan is most likely the issue. A lot of users curse that disc and what it does on auto install to a lot of system files.
