  1. Network loading of ISOs/virtual HDD images over LAN >128mb RAM support Xbox gamepad support was added a few weeks ago, so that one at least is crossed off. In general, I was also expecting by now to see more features added. It's presented as a platform, not just a way of running a modified BIOS. This should allow for new fancy features we haven't seen in other modchips. Things like multi-tasking, for example, where the onboard CPU can run background processes, maybe leading to something like an in-game dashboard (similar to Xbox 360's). Like even a simple music player would be an awesome new addition. The Xbox gamepad and 1.4ghz updates have been nice additions to see. I guess I was just expecting a bit more by now, a year later.
  2. It's even a combo-jack too, which is cool. Analog audio or digital optical audio, depending on the type of cable you plug in. Similar to many laptops' audio out jacks. This project looks super cool though. I love the idea of having an open source polished HDMI video option. Hopefully the firmware can be ironed out. Seems like that is the biggest hurdle at the moment, but I'm optimistic.
  3. For me, that's not too unreasonable. Ghost Case shells were like $60 and they cracked ridiculously easily. I use to work at a repair shop that installed them. So like, I knew how to install them and had plenty of experience and knew how to be careful, and even I would get stripped screw threads or rubbing disc drives or cracked clips. I'll pay a bit more for something that rivals OEM plastic. It would still often end up being cheaper than finding an LE case. The smoke/skeleton Xboxes go or like $200, blue Asia cases go for way more even. Not to say these cases should be as expensive as OEM, but I could stomach $130 for a good case.
  4. I was in the same mindset. I bought it for what it would become, not what it was at the time. But it's been almost a year and there's still things listed on the feature page that haven't been added yet. It's weird to me to list those things and not mention "these are coming soon and these are already here". Don't get me wrong, it's a well designed board and it has the potential to be something powerful and new, but the more time that goes by, the less enthused I am about it as a product. Personally, I'm also very disappointed at the DMCA hit they did against consolemods. The site didn't host any firmware files, it just said "here's the parts list, now go flash it with their firmware". It was so vague, that even my comment here should also qualify as breaking DMCA by that standard. I've been neutral to MM this whole time, aware of the controversy but giving them the benefit of the doubt. It's just getting harder to not be disappointed as time goes on. They recently added native support for modern Xbox gamepads, which is a good sign. It's not a dead project or anything. But between their business practices, the way they interact with the modding community, and failed targets for open sourcing projects (i.e. Atlas), it's just getting harder to be enthusiastic about their products. At this point, I can't see myself buying their products in the future.
  5. Love to see it. I voted for the orange shell. Would love to see X3CP reproductions too. Maybe an updated Xenium version. I mean, injection molding is expensive and it's a small market! Probably won't be super cheap. Plus, I'd be willing to pay a decent amount if they're good quality. Not like Ghost Cases, those things were garbage.
  6. Figured if you were willing to spend actual money on drives on ebay, maybe you could offer this guy shipping fees covered for more!

  8. I tried doing something like that a few years ago and ran into issues wiring up a wifi router directly to my Xbox's ethernet pins. It was probably due to noise in the signal. If you intend on wiring them straight together, be aware that it might not be as easy as it sounds. More info: https://www.xbmc4xbox.org.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?p=36812
  9. It is interesting. OgX360's can tricky to put together, especially for newcomers, and pre-built devices range from $30 to $100. It can be even more expensive if you want wireless Xbox One controller support via 8BitDo adapters, which run $20 each (one needed per each player). My only complaint with all this is that this feature of having native Xbox One controller support was teased last year as Project Atlas, which is apparently abandoned and, I assume, was merged into Stellar as a proprietary feature. As of Dec 2023, the GitHub page for Atlas has been dormant since it was announced. Currently, there's a binary patch for Halo that adds native Xbox One controller support and that's it. The project claims "Project Atlas is free and open source", which it is not. I mean, I get wanting to be compensated for your time and effort and make your product more valuable by adding features that people can only get by buying it, it's just disappointing when promises to open source things are discarded later on.
  10. Unless I'm mistaken, the support is for wired Xbox One (or One X/Series X) controllers specifically, not for the wireless receiver Microsoft makes. You'd just get (or make) an Xbox-to-USB (female) adapter and connect the Xbox One controller to it using a USB cable and it works as if it were an Og Xbox controller. A passive adapter. It's all software driven, so you only need to physically connect the Xbox One controller to the Xbox. Other methods, like using an OgX360 adapter had a device that translated button inputs and presented them to the Xbox as if they were a real Og Xbox controller pressing buttons, but this is an added driver that negates the need for external adapters (other than the passive cable mentioned above). Of course, you can make your own cable if you wanted to as well (skipping yellow sync wire).
  11. Lol firmware 1.3.0 dropped minutes after my reply. Glad to see Xbox gamepad support in place. I have an internal ogx360 in my main Xbox, so it's never bothered me too much. But it's nice to see more of those initial features getting crossed off over time. Might have to actually install my stellar one of these days.
  12. Your best source of info would be either the changelog for Stellar OS or in MakeMHZ's Discord. Changelog: https://makemhz.com/blogs/news/project-stellar-firmware-update-1-2-0 (scroll down to changelog section) Discord: https://discord.gg/9YcuDpY The features list on Stellar's product page is unfortunately not an accurate list. Several features listed are still "planned" or "coming soon". As far as I'm aware, Xbox gamepad support is not available. Apparently it's close, so we should see it relatively soon.
  13. Awesome work, dtomcat! It's great that we have tools like Pinecone these days to streamline the preservation process. I hope you find some missing goodies in there on these drives. Good luck.
  14. Sounds like you did not copy the BootAnims folder to your C drive. In the Cerbios download, there should be a folder called "BootAnims". Copy this folder to your C drive. If you want to customize your boot animation, open BootAnims/Xbox/bootanim.ini and change the color values as desired. Also, if you haven't yet, copy the Cerbios.ini file (also included in Cerbios' download) to your C drive. You can edit this INI file on a computer as needed. Each line has a comment explaining what each option does. Let us know if you get stuck.
  15. I highly recommend this tool. Makes grabbing eeprom's effortless and quick. I love mine.
  16. Oh man, I remember doing this mod when I was a teenager when I was maybe 15 years old on my first full-build mod. I only had A/V cables at the time but getting 5.1 surround sound was (and still is!) an awesome feature for these consoles to have, especially considering the competition didn't have true surround sound (ps2 had pro logic II, but that's it). Playing games in surround sound and listening to FLACs at high fidelity helps keep these old units relevant, even in 2023. I have my full music library loaded onto mine and still use it to this day. These days I use an HDMI converter (by Chimeric Systems) for the convenience of it, but it's the same digital signal either way. Good on msft for future-proofing these consoles 20+ years ago.
  17. Got mine in the mail today and tried it out. It worked like a charm! Very quick and easy. I can see this being a useful tool for softmodding / tsop flashing. 20231018_185356-c-720p.mp4 I mentioned this in my PM to you, but I think a pogo pin adapter (like the one you mentioned earlier) would be a great addition to include for boards without a populated LPC.
  18. Looks super cool. I'd definitely like to give this a shot when it's all ready.
  19. I've yet to encounter new aftermarket Xbox component cables that are good quality. All the cheap ones I've tried usually have some kind of issue, often fuzzy lines in video signal or something. Hoping that won't always be the case. Seems like an opportunity for a company to make some money since OEM cables are often hard to come by at a decent price, and not everyone is willing to make their own modded cable.
  20. Monster / Xbox component / Xbox HD Pack all perform identically in my experience, as do X360 modded cables. It's kind of pointless to spend extra money on the OEM ones as opposed to cheaper modded X360 cables. One difference is the type of connector used for sending digital audio to an amplifier. Monster cables use a 2.5mm connector that's supposed to connect to a dongle for digital optical audio (toslink), but those dongles get lost often and you can instead use a 2.5mm-to-RCA cable and connect to an amp via its digital coax input and get the same outcome. Xbox component and AV packs have a digital optical (toslink) port. Tony Kuberka from The Xbox Modder's Market is a reputable seller for anyone looking for these. Or make your own.
  21. Blue XCM (aftermarket) cases are pretty rare and valuable these days. It's not easy to find one, especially for a cheap price. The official colored variant cases are also pretty desirable collector's items, so those are hard to find as well. Best bet is to keep an eye on ebay for one to pop up and bid on it.
  22. I used to do reflows/reballs for a living during the rrod era and even I don't wanna do this myself. Definitely not a project for the faint of heart.
  23. New in box too? Wow, that's gonna go for quite a bit! When you list it, I'll definitely be drooling over it. I probably won't bid... need to save up to move houses soon. Good luck to bidders though.
