  1. I opened up this adapter and the red LED had fallen off the board due to bad solder joints and some of the other soldering on the board was also bad, after I redid some of the soldering on the board and re-soldered the LED to the board I still have the same problems, I think the LED that was free to move around inside the case may have shorted something out, I also noticed that the wire connecting from the Xbox to the adapter is unshielded.
  2. I use a "Brightech Lightview Pro Flex" it's a magnifying glass gooseneck lamp that uses LEDs for illumination, it can be found on Amazon for about $30, it works well and has some nice led lights in a ring on the underside of the magnifying glass, the only problems with it are I don't like the plastic clamp, the spring loaded plastic clamp does work well but only seems to open about two inches, the other problem is that the power connector is flimsy, its got a barrel type power connector at it's base and that power connector has worked its way lose, but it still works. I have had the folding style magnifying glass lamps with florescent tubes in them but I just don't like them, they seem to get in my way and break on me, but the desk clamp and power connector is most of the time better on them.
  3. If you "find" an Xbox ISO file that does not work with anything, it's most likely a "Raw Dump" or "ReDump-style dual layer rip" meant for use with a modded Xbox 360, the ISO needs to be converted from "Raw Dump" to "XISO", you need to use something like the program "XDVDMulleter" to convert the ISO, Google searching with something like "XDVDMulleter ReDump XISO" will lead you to some Reddit posts that might help.
  4. I have been using component cables, and they work well if you get a good set, but not all TVs have component input nowadays, and I wanted an adapter that was simple and quick to use, and had a sharp clear image, but I have not found it yet, I have a POUND HD Link Cable on order to test that out next. Something I have noticed about some of the v1.0 Xbox systems that I have, is that some v1.0 Xbox systems have a "small" bit of interference on the cheap component cables, and other v1.0 Xbox systems don't show any interference using the same cheap cables, the only two ideas that make since to me are (1) the Xbox video connector is dirty or worn out (2) the electronic components in the Xbox systems that have interference are starting to go bad, I guess time will tell.
  5. I had ordered a "Myriann Hdmi Cable For Original Xbox System" from eBay that looked like the adapter in the first image posted, when I tried it on an Xbox with a "force 480p" BIOS installed the video would cut out so much that you could only see the screen for a second or two every few seconds, the second Xbox I tried this adapter on had a regular BIOS and had not yet been set to HD in the dashboard, with the Xbox like this this adapter seemed to "upscale" the video, and it looked very fuzzy and soft, however, when I followed the instructions that came with the adapter and set the dashboard to enable HD resolutions this adapter went back to the video cutting out so much that you could only see the screen for a second or two every few seconds, I told the eBay seller what happened and they gave me a refund, and they did not even want it back, I guess the HDMI adapters are a hit or miss just like the cheap component cables. BTW I had tested this HDMI adapter on v1.0 Xbox systems.
  6. The first Xbox I ever had was a used Xbox that I had got from a pawn shop back in 2005, it was a v1.6 Xbox, and from what I remember I softmoded my Xbox that night, and about a week later I put a 100GB 7200RPM hard drive into my Xbox, the month after that I ordered a "X-Changer v2" XBOX mod chip for around $30, and the month after that I put a modified PC DVD into my Xbox it was a "LG GDR-8163B 16X DVD drive" because my Xbox's DVD drive failed. I "think" I was on xbox-scene back in 2005 and 2006, but I cant remember, I know I posted some of the mods that I had made to my Xbox to some online forum, I posted about adding a hard drive LED to my Xbox case, about painting my case and adding custom graphics, adding USB ports to the back of my Xbox and to my controller, but not sure what else. I had a lot of fun hacking my XBox back then, I also remember getting in a "heated" argument about the legality of hacking your own hardware with a Gamestop employee around that time, LOL. Unfortunately around the end of 2008 my Xbox died from a bad capacitor, and at the time I did not believe it could be repaired so it got scraped for parts and most of it went into the trash. A few years ago I found a v1.0 Xbox at a fle-market cheap so I bought, and when I tested it, it worked just fine, so I put it into storage and forgot about it, around December of last year I found a forum post about the "Clock Capacitor" killing Xbox systems and I went to check my Xbox, and sure enough the "Clock Capacitor" had leaked all over this v1.0 Xbox, so I removed the "Clock Capacitor" and cleaned everything, thankfully no damage was done. After I had removed the "Clock Capacitor" and cleaned this Xbox I had a lot of fun playing with my "self refurbished" Xbox, and it brought back a lot of good memories, so then I got thinking, and I decided that I wanted a few extra Xbox systems, and some spare parts, so I decided to buy some of the cheap Xbox systems I found, Xbox systems under $30, and it seems they almost all share the same problems, the DVD drives are trash and I keep getting the Thomson TGM600 DVD drives in the Xbox systems I find cheap, lots of dust and sometimes bugs but mostly dust, most are v1.0 systems or maybe that's just my luck, and the power supply sometimes needs the be re-soldered were the cord plugs in - burned areas and scorch marks, sometimes the old hard drives are dead and its kinda hard to TSOP flash without a softmod first so I temporarily put a mod chip into it and then TSOP flash, and last but not least "Clock Capacitor", thankfully I only found one Xbox that the "Clock Capacitor" killed, but I was able to run some jumper wires to bypass the bad traces on that Xbox motherboard and get it running again, and I am delighted by the fact that most Xbox systems seem to be repairable. My only complaint is the lack of cheap DVD drives for the Xbox, I am experimenting with a PC DVD drive in one of my Xbox systems, it's not an ideal setup, but it does work. BTW this is what my first Xbox looked like, and for some reason back then I had put "good luck" in Chinese on my Xbox, LOL
