  1. I haven't put much thought into it for ages now. Got sidetracked learning new essential skills. I hadn't thought much further than including the latest releases, ogxbox skins and branding the installer.
  2. I have the same problem. Addressing the soldering as soon as better equipment arrives. I hope it solves it.
  3. http://www.pagetable.com/?p=465 An interesting read Oldest would be manufactured around November 2001
  4. I thought I'd start this thread to establish when our XBoxes were made. Including Noob factory errors and last build can't be bothered. Here is my v1.6 1st August 2005
  5. I am interested in helping carry the ball too. I have an RPi2 and xbox 1.0 and 1.2
  6. Although you could run an xbox Linux distro then do cloud save from there, I'm thinking you want an xbe. One option would be an automated sync program to ftp files up to your server.
  7. On the Main tab, you can: -Name your skin -Give a version number -Specify a copyright date and Author
  8. I'm starting to create a new skin using UXArchitect. I am unable to find a tutorial, so i will document my journey here.

  14. After cable recall, Xbox's still frying The fix isn't in By Andrew Orlowski, 19 Mar 2005 (TheRegister) 14 million games console owners are still at risk of waking up to find their Xbox has become an ex-box. For when Microsoft issued a safety advisory for Xbox customers last month, it failed to address the underlying problem. After several reports of consoles catching fire, Microsoft urged 14 million console owners to send in their old power leads for a replacement. But hardware experts point out that the power cable was never at root of the problem: it simply made the existing problem worse. The meltdown, and subsequent fire risk was actually caused by wear and tear on the power supply used in early models of the Xbox. The replacement cable featured a trip, which cut down the risk of your house catching fire, but left unfortunate gamers with a fried console. The cord has an interrupter switch that acts like a conventional fuse, tripping power to the unit. Microsoft's decision to limit its liabilities, rather than address the root of the problem, has led to a particularly bizarre situation. Customers who don't need to participate in the program are being shipped an identical cable to the one they've got. Microsoft last month advised console owners to unplug the Xbox from the mains, and claimed the risk is only 1 in 10,000. Ryan, an Xbox modder in Northern California who has disassembled the console, confirms that solder on two prongs holding the Foxlink power supply in place wear out. The problem affects versions 1.0 and 1.1 of the power supply. The design flaw was fixed in subsequent power supplies. I will pop open my case when I can, I know i have a Foxlink PSU
  15. Just spotted this lol Was thinking of updating and OGxBOX branding with custom biis image and skins etc
  16. Poking around config.xml throws a few legacy links for RSS too. Always happy to help. If I ever manage to escape retail and get a suitable job i can covertly support you at the same time.
  17. Well spotted! Please make sure you use the correct rating and solder in the right polarity! It is also wise to mention tgat you should be gentle with the puns and not drop your new capacitor on the floor.
  18. It has been some years since our beloved xBox was released and some parts have begun to decay. It is commonly advised to remove your clock capacitor and replace any leaking. 1st step, clear any leakage. It's acidic afterall and you'll need a tight grip. 2nd Gently pull at the capacitor being removed while applying heat to the solder with your iron. 3rd Once removed, prepare your replacement capacitor. The longer pin is usually positive. Align these with the holes your old capacitor was soldered into. If you are unable to push it through, apply heat to melt any solder blocking the hole. 4th once pulled through, bend each pin iutward to hold the capacitor position. You don't want it falling out or becoming loose. Apply solder at the base of each pin. 5th trim pins just above the solder. I used nail clippers as they were able to achieve a shorter trim. That and i misplaced my wire cutters. Refit your motherboard etc Power up and pray
