  1. The .xbe that you creat using the shortcut tool, doesn't matter what the size of it is. It is literally just a forwarder. It loads, tells the xbox to load the .xbe in a different place instead. That's it.
  2. If you downloaded the game rather than installing it from a disc, have you checked the region of the game? I know ideally modding should remove the region restriction, but I've had trouble with some of them booting (I also have a 1.6 - only softmodded however). They load, maybe get to the main menu and then crash when loading the game, or just freeze on the loading screens or main menus or, indeed, blank screen. But when I got the EU (PAL) version of the game, rather than the NTSC or USA version, it worked perfectly. Otherwise I don't know what to suggest as I dont have a hard modded system (1.6 systems are difficult apparently and I cant be bothered with it lol)
  3. Thank you for this. This is the solution to a problem I asked about (sadly recieved no response) about whether or not it was possible to launch the dash from another partition. I am using XBMC4Gamers, but the C partition is only a few hundred megabytes and I have already had a couple of issues with downloads not "having enough space" - they did not ask where I wanted to download them too. I had heard of something called multilaunch or multiboot or something, but that seems to have vanished off the face of the earth. At any rate, this solves the problem. Main dashboard now boots from e:\dashboard\ rather than c:\dashboard\
  4. I've just realised, I've made several posts/replies but I haven't actually introduced myself. I'm Stevie. My Xbox (360/One) gamertag is SILEeeles. I've dipped in and out of modding. Never done anything hardware based. Usually only soft. Back in the day I softmodded an xbox using Splinter Cell and an action replay memory card. I dont know how easy/hard it is to get hold of them now or if it would even work with modern Windows. This time I used a cable from ebay that has a usb port on the end. Same Splinter Cell method.I know there are others, but I remembered using Splinter Cell last time, so I thought I'd use it this time. Last time, though, I never bothered to install games or whatever. I dont think I even used emulators. I can't remember. I do remember having a dash that looked like the original 360 one. Anyway, this time I decided to stick with XBMC4Gamers, I swapped the hard drive out for a 160GB one. The only other two consoles I've modded are a Wii. And a PS2. And whilst the PS2 one is infinitely more of a pain in the ass, I decided to leave that as it was. It just looks awful over composite and the graphics are just ... Shame really, since its just sitting there now. But it was a learning experience, I guess. And I suppose I could set up a business selling Free McBoot memory cards The xbox is mostly set up now. Everything is FTP-ed to and from it. Still working out the emulators and things. Emustation has confused me a tad, since it seems to include folders for just about every system ever, but there arent emulators for them at all, so I'm not sure why they are there, but there you go.
  5. It is a known issue, I think, that the drive belts eventually need replacing.
  6. If the initial modification was only a softmod, NEVER unlock the hard drive. It needs to be locked for it to boot at all. The only way around that is a mod chip (hard mod). Installing a new hard drive doesn't make it a hard mod, its still softmodded. You just added more storage space. You don't need to unlock it either, and it doesn't change whether or not a PC will read it. That is more to do with its file-system (FATX). The best way, as everyone else has said, is FTP. There isnt really any other way around it. There are cables you can buy to connect USB drives, but I suspect it depends on the dashboard you are using and the usb drive itself on how compatible it is.
  7. I had this issue EVERY time I tried to set up and install the Emustation. I did exactly as the instructions said, downloaded everything I needed, ftp-ed across everything, and then EVERY time, Fatal Error. The way I resolved it, was to use XBMC4Gamers, use the URLDownloader on that, and install Emustation from there. For whatever reason, it works that way. It loaded fine and I was able to set it up and so on. It just refused to work via the PC/FTP way. And after all that, I've customised the XBMC4Gamers look and style and decided to keep that as my main anyway. It still loads the emulators and that was a secondary function for me anyway. Xbox Games was the main one.
  8. You can buy adaptors that connect to the controller port and have a USB plug the other end, but as of yet, I dont know what formats it will read (for example, if FAT32 is compatible etc). I suspect it depends on the dashboard you use. What are you trying to do though? Make a back up? Copy games over to be loaded via SMB instead? If you want a 1:1 backup, clone the drive using Chimp. then if anything happens you just need to swap the old drive for the backed up one, although there are several steps before that, zero-ing your hard drive key and making sure the other drive can be locked/unlocked etc. For SMB, the most effective method of copying things across is FTP. I use Filezilla for that.

    Dashboards

Hi guys, new here. Not new to modding Xbox, however a lot has changed since I last did it many many years ago. Anyway, its all softmodded, everything is running well (a few things crash - for example I tried to run Doom X which was downloaded via the URLDownloader included in XBMC4Gamers - did not work). But I'm running into one restriction which is the partition size of C. Since XBMC4Gamers is my main dashboard, and thus resides in C:\Dashboard etc. If I try to download something, for example the Xbox Artwork - it just tells me there isn't enough space on the drive. I then came across a potential solution which was to have the dashboard on the E or any partition really, and something called "Multi Launcher" would point to it. However, I cannot find anything about it since. Website seems to have gone. No downloads seem to exist, and google just throws up results for other xbox consoles. So I suppose my question is ... IS there a way to have the dashboard on another partition, and have the main C:\Dashboard just point to its location ? Many thanks.
