transplant a good tsop module from a working xbox? assuming your soldering skill is good enough

Someone please correct me on that if it's wrong, I've heard of tsop transplants being done. I know you can swap an eeprom module in an emergency (have done it myself).

That's probably my best bet, its just a matter of finding a spare Hynix from a 1.2 board that's the biggest issue.

  2. My 1.2 has had a borked TSOP for the longest time, I've been using an Aladdin XBlast to make up for it but I know someone who could make better use of that modchip while I would rather go back to a flashed TSOP.

I know that some chips have features for TSOP recovery such as the XBlast Lite, but I haven't seen any of those for sale in a local capacity. Does anyone know what other options I may have here?

  3. Redherring32 (of OpenTendo fame) has been putting in some research into bypassing the need for a clock capacitor on the 1.6 revision Xbox; unlike the prior models a 1.6 will not boot without it. By removing R7P3 and R7P6 current limiting resistors which go to the positive leg of the clock cap and then connecting 3v3 standby voltage to that same leg, you can remove it entirely and still have a functioning system.

I've been lurking Project Stellar discussions on various forums, etc. but haven't seen anything definitive about this yet...

Has anyone seen or heard if there's any way we're going to be able to have their HDMI kit (either old or new) and use a BIOS other than StellarOS, even if it's potentially one on a microSD card on the Stellar board?

There seems to be speculation/doubt as to the advertised feature of loading other BIOS on the microSD card actually being something that will be supported/released (and they definitely seem against CERBIOS especially)...

If it does come through that we can run another BIOS from a microSD card on the Stellar board (CERBIOS or otherwise), the consensus is that it will be expected that most or all of Project Stellar's additional features will not be available.

Surely if the ability to run another BIOS is a feature that gets added to Project Stellar, then there would also have to be some form of support on the Stellar board to still allow you to use their HDMI board (even if only the new one) as well, right??

I'm definitely now sceptical that support for other BIOS will be added (or apparently at least not for CERBIOS), or that we'd even be able to use their HDMI kit with another BIOS on Stellar, and pretty disappointed if this will be the case. StellarOS will have to meet or exceed what CERBIOS has to offer if they're going to run with such a proprietary product range...

I feel that having your digital-to-digital HDMI mod connected to and dependant on the modchip is a bit of a reckless decision on Dustin's part.

You're a sharp one. Can't get anything past bowlsnapper. All you're doing is talking shit. I don't get it, you don't even own the product. If you don't have any input on it, why are you even commenting here. You probably can't even come up with $140...

  6. I just hope this pushes others to consider what else can be done via the LPC bus with minimal hardware other than Dustin. It's not comparable but just a day or so ago rasteri unveiled his project to support ISA cards via the LPC bus on appropriate PC hardware.

I feel like his stubbornness will be a detriment for Stellar going forward as far as the CCI debate is concerned; not only is his argument shallow and hypocritical but also going back to my earlier point hardware like the Stellar being the only game in town for the time being could potentially cause a rift in Xbox software development for those who choose to cater for it and those who cannot/do not.

  7. I'd love to know how you backported the contents of the orange box games (specifically Episode 2 and Portal) to the xbox HL2 engine, I was expecting an "If you're skeptical, here's a video of it running." type of response.

Having been part of the Source modding community since roughly 2007/2008, believe me when I say I'd love to see Episode 2 and Portal running on pre-OB HL2's engine.

  8. Also back in the day I played HL2 Episode 2 on a Pentium 4 with a Radeon X300 and it was an excruciating experience, I highly doubt this will even be playable on the P3 and pseudo-GeForce 2 the Xbox has.

  9. I'd love to know how you backported the content from episode 2 and portal, since those were made on a *MUCH* newer version of the Source engine. Episode 1 used an older version of the engine which I'm a little less skeptical about getting a port. I haven't heard of anyone doing anything of this sort before, much less on the Xbox.

I'll believe it when I see it.

  10. ind-bios already includes this, taken from the .nfo file:

    Quote

    In Game Reset - Off/Quick/Complete
--Reset to Game/Reset to Dash (Triggers + Black + Back) OR (Triggers + Back + Start)
--Shutdown (Triggers + Back + White)
--Tray Eject (Triggers + Right Thumb + Dpad UP)
--Tray Close (Triggers + Right Thumb + Dpad DOWN)
--Power Cycle (Triggers + Back + X + Black) [hint: hit X before black]

    read the documentation, folks.

That worked i was able to get evox back up and running without an external progammer.

Trying to flash a known good 49LF080A with this new variant does not work with or without the jumper changed. I guess the CPLD code will need an update to support it and to use the full xblast os features?

Did you make a backup of the original CPLD code? I attempted to do that in ispVM and it returned all 0s.
