XboxHDM? I guess it's not technically a 'simple script', but I used it just last week to do all that - wipe, format, and build a replacement drive from a PC. Edit: Just noticed your other topic, seems you already found it.

XBMC4Gamers includes a script that'll do that. Settings > Skin Settings > Scripts > Remove Empty Save Folders
