    No Flash Bios?

The XBlast needs do be on the C drive of the modded Xbox. Use a FTP program to transfer to the Xbox. The (Xblast OS.xbe) file in the root directory of C drive and the folder XBlast on the root of C drive. Then Make a folder on the C drive called bios Now copy the BIOS files I sent to you to that folder (c:\bios). If you are flashing the Aladdin chip that you fitted use the 256kb file. Boot the Xbox and open a file explorer app on the Xbox and look for XBlast in the C drive then run that prg. If your no sure of any thing don't change or do any thing with out asking 1st or you could make a door stop out of the Xbox (Stuff it big time in other words) it's better to ask stupid questions that stuff it we all had to start somewhere. I take it you have fitted a mod-chip ? If your tiring to flash the onboard BIOS (TSOP) have you put the flash enable links on the board.? Cheers SS Dave Those that can Hard-Mod. 2. I googled the brand of paste you used and love the selling blurb I have used Wax and Grease remover to clean the old paste off the a clean with isoprop-alcohol. It was built by N64 Freak and it will be used in a standup arcade system one day. The board has the 1.4Ghz with 128 meg ram, And the heat-sink is glued on with arctic silver thermal adhesive. With the testing I have done I have the stock fan running 40% and get around low to mid 50 deg c. That's the heat sink on the 1.4Ghz and excuse the dirty fan. I will probably get shot down in flames for saying that I use Slayers install disk's but I have tried the Hexen even one day I put a SSD drive in a Xbox had tried using the Hexen disk for a full install and adding apps and it reminded me of a MS Windoze software. ie use will use my apps or else type attitude. and the crap it leaves on the drive I you want a copy of slayers let me know. And last but not least this is how I do the Aladdin chip Cheers SS Dave Those that can Hard-Mod. Those that can't Soft-Mod.

    No Flash Bios?

Hi Shaokhann here is the same BIOS a 256k version for the Aladdin chip and a 1meg for the version 1.0/1.1 Xbox and I have included the MD5 hash in case you want it. I Have tested the 256k version in a DouX2 chip. I use XBlast to flash to the chip with out any problems and just in case you don't have it here is a copy. 1 meg no dvd.bin256k no dvd.binMD5 for the no dvd BIOS.txtXBlast_OS_v0.56.rar SS Dave Those that can Hard-Mod. No Flash Bios?

The version 1.0 needs a 1024kb(1meg) BIOS. If you want a M8 1meg BIOS I can sent you one. SS Dave Those that can Hard-Mod. Those that can't Soft-Mod.
  6. Hi bot_1 The main thing with fans for the Xbox is high flow as apposed to quiet then you can adjust the speed to maintain the CPU temp, And make sure that it's sucking the air out. If you have built PC's you can understand the heat sink paste should be replaced on the CPU and GPU, It looks like every one has there own type of paste and that's up to you. I have got 1 Xbox that I have used the liquid metal foil with good results, And a Xbox that's got a 1.4 GHz CPU that has the heat sink glued on. With the mod chip you could flash the on board BIOS with a different BIOS and then when you boot the chip disabled it will boot the on board bios and with the chip on is uses the mod chip bios. Or you could flash the on board BIOS and use the chip in a different Xbox. I you want the chip always on remove the wire from the BT and front panel and link BT to ground. When you put the new drive in use a install DVD to set it up you can even try setting up the drive you have now to get a feel for tiring different dash boards. Have a look at XBMC4Gamers as a dash Cheers SS Dave Those that can Hard-Mod. Those that can't Soft-Mod.
  7. His Old hard drive is dead so need to retrieve the hard drive key.
  8. If you have a mod chip you can fit you new large HDD then boot of a install DVD and do a fresh install to fully use the size of the new drive your going to need to partition it correctly. Have a read of this SS Dave Those that can Hard-Mod. Those that can't Soft-Mod.
  9. Welcome bot_1 The missing resistor should not cause any problem unless you decide to put a clock cap back in. I my experience the OEM fan works just as good as a lot of the replacement fans I set the fan speed to 30% and have not had any over heating problems and it's hardly noticeable noise wise) the Air con is louder any way) even at 40% it's still quiet. If you haven't all ready redone the BIOS you are going to need a bios that has the LBA48 set to allow large hard drive size's. SS Dave Those that can Hard-Mod. Those that can't Soft-Mod.

    Aladdin Mod Chip

Hi Halo_2 Sound more like a bios problem. What version Xbox is it ? When you are booting the Hexen disk your are putting the disk in the DVD drive 1st then powering off the Xbox then powering on with the chip enabled and Hexen can take around 60 seconds or more some times. Are you sure that you used a M8 BIOS? not that should make too much difference unless you tried putting a 512/1024 size in the chip and it crashed during the reflash. SS Dave Those that can Hard-Mod. Aladdin Mod Chip

So it did not work after you flashed the BIOS? I suspect that the Xbox when booting from the Mod-Chip is now looking for the dash in a different location. Can you try booting from the DVD Drive with the Mod-Chip enabled. SS Dave Those that can Hard-Mod. Those that can't Soft-Mod.
  12. Hi xboxkid If you planing on reusing the current drive you will need to remove the soft mod for it to work with the mod-chip as the hard mod and the soft mod won't work together. Once you have the mod-chip fitted and working you can use your install disk to remove the soft mod and while your at it unlock the drive as well. Fitting the 2tb drive is not to hard just use a good quality IDE to SATA adapter and a 80 way cable then boot your install disk to set up the new drive. SS Dave Those that can Hard-Mod. Aladdin Mod Chip

Upload some pic's of the solder work Some time must be wrong to have 2 chips doing the same as I have said before I have not had a new Aladdin chip not work. SS Dave Those that can Hard-Mod. Those that can't Soft-Mod.

    Aladdin Mod Chip

Good to hear it's working for you. I have not had a new chip not work but I have a Aladdin Advance chip that I pulled from a non working Xbox that would only boot when I used the power button then hit the eject button. If i did not hit the eject the box would boot but no video out to the screen but I was able to ftp files to and from it. I had swapped the eeprom chip from a known working chip and the same problem in the end I reprogrammed the CPLD(Lattice) chip and it's all good. Here is 3 different types of Aladdin chip. 15. You have tried different component leads and updated the BIOS. What Dash are you using Is it rebooting when playing games and if so what game? Also when it plays up is it at the same time like after 5 minutes of use every time? When you say rebooting it starting with the flubber screen as if you had just turned the Xbox on? What make and model of hard drive and sata to ide adapter? Have you had a good look at the mother board capacitors for any sign of failing and inspect the solder connections for the AVIP connector for dry joints. SS Dave Those that can Hard-Mod. Those that can't Soft-Mod.
  16. If you can try a different component lead as it may have a bad connection in the plug telling the Xbox to revert a different video output mode. SS Dave Those that can Hard-Mod. Those that can't Soft-Mod.

    Hdd Lock

    This may help https://ipv5.wordpress.com/2008/04/14/list-of-hard-disk-ata-master-passwords/

    Hdd Lock

If you are tying to keep the contents of the drive then no unless you can get the Hard Drive Key from the old mother board's eeprom. It may have some default unlock key depending on what software it was locked with some hard drives have a master unlock key and will wipe the drive in the process of unlocking it. That is 1 of the reasons I am a advocate for Hard-Mod's and not locking the hard disk. SS Dave Those that can Hard-Mod. Those that can't Soft-Mod.
  19. Test the 5 volt at the power connector and if it's not a steady 5 volt (pulsing on and off) then the part I posted is more likely a DUD transistor if you remove the transistor and supply 5 volt via a 500 ohm resistor to the collector and it is able to be turned on then you need to replace the transistor. SS Dave Those that can Hard-Mod. Those that can't Soft-Mod.
  20. You are correct PNP and the 1 I used was a 2SC640.
  21. On a Xbox I have here that transistor had a short between Base and Emitter. As it was late at night I grabbed the 1st PNP transistor (2SC640) with a bit of bending of the leads it works. Plus I did not want to pay 5 cents for 1 and 10 dollars post The collector has to go high for the Xbox to send a signal to the power supply and turn on the 5 volt out-put. SS Dave Those that can Hard-Mod. Those that can't Soft-Mod.
  22. What has been said before. FTP the files just set it up before you go to bed and it should be ready by the time you get home from work. SS Dave Those that can Hard-Mod. Those that can't Soft-Mod.

    Aladdin Mod Chip

Had some thing like that happen with a older Aladdin mod chip it would not boot unless I hit the eject button after powering on it's something to do withe the BIOS as a new Aladdin chip with the same BIOS as the older chip worked 100% OK. As it's been said before just wire the chip to always on as you don't need the stock BIOS . If it is a version 1.0 to 1.4 scrap the chip and reflash the on board BIOS. I only fit mod-chips to version's 1.6 all other's get reflashed SS Dave Those that can Hard-Mod. Those that can't Soft-Mod.
