  1. How desperate are you to use a 120gig hard drive I was looking years ago and this is as far as I got to unlocking a Hard Drive I decided that unlocking the OEM Xbox drives using this method is not worth the effort. http://www.hddoracle.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=193 Cheers SS Dave Those that can Hard-Mod. Those that can't Soft-Mod.
  2. And if you change any thing in the EEprom MAKE a BACKUP on some thing else besides the Xbox hard drive. Cheers SS Dave Those that can Hard-Mod. Those that can't Soft-Mod.
  3. Use the included editing program run liveinfo.exe then load the eeprom file I would just delete the HDD key and it will populate it with zero's Then do the same with the online key You could put any Sn number if you want and leave the MAC address as is. Cheers SS Dave Those that can Hard-Mod. Those that can't Soft-Mod. Don't forget to hit the thanks tab.
  4. Hi van0014 I had a hard time finding a version 1.6 here as most of the Xbox's I have here(20+) are pre 1.6. Any way here is a link to the EEprom from a version 1.6 that I know is working fine as it's the kids console. The file your looking at is the one in capital letters. https://www.dropbox.com/s/700n512e44v1ddc/Biso edit and version 1.6 bios.rar?dl=0 Cheers SS Dave Those that can Hard-Mod. 5. I tried a locked hdd with a 5035 bios and it just sits there fragging after a couple of seconds. I think you have a paper weight or 1/10 of a cent's worth of scrap metel. Cheers SS Dave Those that can Hard-Mod. Those that can't Soft-Mod.
  6. It still needs the EEprom for any of the BIOS's to boot but the Open Xenium can be used to restore the EEprom from a backup as it has it's own OS that it boots to. That's providing that there is a backup of your EEprom on the hard drive e: directory I can take a EEprom backup from a version 1.6 Xbox I have here and send it to you so you can try flashing back to you EEprom with the same hard ware you used before. Cheers SS Dave Those that can Hard-Mod. Those that can't Soft-Mod.
  7. Hello XboxNewbie I have been working with electronics from about 10 years old and I still find stuff that I have to research to fully understand. Google can be a friend a well as asking questions on forum's (like here) and you will find most people are to willing to help you. Cheers SS Dave Those that can Hard-Mod. Those that can't Soft-Mod.
  8. Hello van0014 50 meg seems high and I don't have a version 1.6 out of the case at the moment to measure it, I would try the mother board 1st without the mod chip and see it is booting OK, If it is running OK then plug the chip on the broad and you should be good to go. What mod chip are you fitting? Cheers SS Dave Those that can Hard-Mod. Those that can't Soft-Mod.
  9. A hard modded/re flashed TSOP will have problems using a drive with a soft mod . As your not saying it's got a error message the drive could be unlocked. If the drive is unlocked you can use a install disk(Hexen,Slayers, etc etc) to remove the soft mod file's or just blow the lot away and start with a clean install. Depending what was used to lock the drive it may ask for a password that's stored on the old Xbox's EEprom Some default password's "XBOXSCENE", “TEAMASSEMBLY” , or 32 zero's and it's case sensitive . Cheers SS Dave Those that can Hard-Mod. Those that can't Soft-Mod.
  10. I would suspect the Hard drive is failing. I have had the same thing happen with 1tb drive the Xbox would randomly freeze up. Cheers SS Dave Those that can Hard-Mod. Those that can't Soft-Mod.

    X2.6 V5 No Power

The Delta power supply in the pic you posted looks like a version 1.2-1.5 one and is not compatible with the version 1.6 moan board In the years I been working on and modding I have seen 2 Version power supply's that are faulty Put the original one back in and test the 5 volt supply on the 3 red or orange wires it should be a steady 5 volt if it's turning on and off then one of the transistors near the IDE connector is faulty. Test that and get back to me Cheers SS Dave Those that can Hard-Mod. Those that can't Soft-Mod.
  12. On having a closer look at the LPC rebuild work there is 3 things that I would like to see fixed 1st the D0 wire could possibility be shorting the the trace next to it just trim it a bit shorter' 2 in the red rectangle the 3 points could be shorting to the trace running next to them. Fix remove some of the solder. 3rd in the red circle the same as above with the same fix. Cheers SS Dave Those that can Hard-Mod. Those that can't Soft-Mod.
  13. I am taking it that Xbox was working before the mod-chip install What came up on the screen when you tried it with the chip? Also what is the led on the Mod-chip doing? And what happens if you put the D0 wire to ground with and without the chip on the board? Cheers SS Dave Those that can Hard-Mod. Those that can't Soft-Mod.
  14. I would remove that abortion of a method of a chip install and fit a pin header with a LPC rebuild. You can buy a rebuild pcb online or hard wire it. Cheers SS Dave Those that can Hard-Mod. Those that can't Soft-Mod.
  15. I will take that as a complement Thank You. Cheers SS Dave Those that can Hard-Mod. Those that can't Soft-Mod.
  16. Same here I would like a copy please
  17. As the age of the consoles is getting on the capacitors are all starting to fail with the Clock cap been the 1st. The electrolyte in the capacitor is leaking and is corrosive that is what is now damaging the traces in the board. The version 1.0-1.5 are the most problematic for the clock cap failure. All the versions are also stating to suffer from the main filter cap's failing and can cause problems from intermittent flickering on the screen to failing to power on. In my many years (45+)of fixing electronics the most common natural failure (not damage by abuse or incorrect fitting etc etc) is the cap's probably because the manufacture had the choice of 5 cents each for a cap's with a life expectancy of 100,000hrs versus 7 cents for a 500,000hrs. So now your have some information to make your own decision . This is the clock Cap in versions 1.0-1.5 it can be removed without any problems other than the Xbox will reset the time and date the moment the power is removed. This is a version 1.6 cap this one is less prone to failure but some people are now reporting failures. With a version 1.6 the Xbox will not boot if he cap is removed so if there is a evidence of leakage it has to be replaced. Main power filter Caps that have failed and need to be replaced. If they are not replaced ASAP and you continue to use it the cap's could explode. The caps in this pic are generally more reliable but I have seen them fail as well . So have I scared you enough to open the Xbox and look at the cap's unless like some(and me) that have units that have never been used and still in the unopened box I would open and check the cap's. As for the original hard drive I have seen a few of them fail as well so fitting a new hard drive is not a bad thing and if someone is a collector they will more than likely find a unit that's totally untouched or New In Box. Keeping the original hard drive is up to you but as long as the EEprom has been Nulled (HDD key set to all zero's) then probably get rid if them or unlock them and use in some other device. 2 years ago I sent 100's for Xbox hard drive's to scrap metal. Cheers SS Dave Those that can Hard-Mod. Those that can't Soft-Mod.
  18. Sure a better quality iron would help BUT the biggest thing is practice. Plug the iron in for long enough for it to melt solder then unplug it and do 1 joint by applying solder to the spot on the board 1st then if need be plug the iron back in for a minute then tin the wire by holding the wire on the iron and applying solder to it then you may need to reheat. the iron for a little bit the hold the wire on the board and the place the tip of the iron on it for a second. You should have now completed you 1st connection. Now you repeat for the other end. As for linking the 2 pads a single strand of wire that has been tinned as above then lay it across the 2 pads and apply heat like above you can then trim the excess wire off. Cheers SS Dave Those that can Hard-Mod. Those that can't Soft-Mod.
  19. If you can't find a copy let me know. Cheers SS Dave Those that can Hard-Mod. Those that can't Soft-Mod.
  20. Hi QuazyPat I have see a lot more damage that I have had to fix than that. I would say the iron is to hot and you held the heat to long on it. Flip the board and run a link like in this pick and link the R7D10 on the top and it should be all good. I would use wire-wrap wire and follow the instructions in the previous post. If you board looks different send a pic of the bottom Let me know how you get on. Cheers SS Dave Those that can Hard-Mod. Those that can't Soft-Mod.
  21. Hi bandak How is the Xbox Modded Chip,Flashed TSOP,Soft-mod? Have you tried to boot the Xbox with the game in the DVD drive then a power cycle? Failing that it sound's like you need to change the game region to NTSC.but then your PAL games won't load. I use Xblast to change the eeprom to NTSC via the eeprom edit but if you change the wrong thing you may make a door stop out of your Xbox. Cheers SS Dave Those that can Hard-Mod. 22. Post a pic and I will let you know. Cheers SS Dave Those that can Hard-Mod. Those that can't Soft-Mod.
  23. So is I Cheers SS Dave Those that can Hard-Mod. Those that can't Soft-Mod.
  24. If you fit a Open Xenium you can setup a new drive using the chip and sending files via FTP . No DVD drive needed. I have done it just to test the theory but it's a bit of work but probably no more than using a PC to setup the new drive. Cheers SS Dave Those that can Hard-Mod. Those that can't Soft-Mod.
  25. If you read the post before your post you will see how to fix it or pay some one to fix it for you and while there fixing it get the links soldered on the board to flash the TSOP. You can use conductive paint to link the 2 points if you have problems soldering. Cheers SS Dave Those that can Hard-Mod. Those that can't Soft-Mod.
