As with everything, any idea someone has where they aren't going to "carry the football" will be doa. Everything I've tried to do, I've had to carry it out myself. Most everyone sits around and just waits on things to be done for them. It's the world we live in today. As far as the technical aspects of it, I don't know if it has USB 3.0. It would require this to theoretically have faster transfer speeds than the xbox. (hdd to hdd) What need is it that you're referring to with 2TB partitions?

I think the old evox bioses were hard coded with the xbe to reboot into and it did not necessarily match the boot dash. Chances are, it's looking for a dash name that does not exist. Unless your tsop is only 256k, I'd recommend going with x2 5035. It should alleviate that issue.

The feature I want the most is a cloud save feature. I play on several different xbox's in my house. I'd like my savegames to sync when the dashboard loads and let me know once it is finished. I'd like the dashboard to give me relevant news on updates for ONLY the apps I have installed. I've got a few more but I think those are at the top of my list for things that don't exist.

I used a 256gb Crucial M4. 70mm fans usually fit. 80mm don't. They need some cutting. I used a noctua 80mm so I had to cut.

You can do all of these things. I built a portable xbox that I did these mods on... BUT There is very little to no performance benefit in adding a SSD to your xbox. I did it to save on power consumption, so I have one to compare speeds and there just isn't any. The reason is that the xbox is limited at ata66 speeds. Hard drives routinely blow past this speed. So, the only performance difference you'll see is in loading large amounts of small files.... where latency(seek times) come into play. This is not as drastic as you might expect. As far as the fan goes, when you mod the xbox you can bump the speed up so it moves more air and runs cooler. By default the stock fan runs at 20% speed. The reason I added a larger fan was so it could run at the full 12v but be quieter. There is a lot of plastic cutting that needs to take place for this.

No. On a 1.6, you don't need to remove a pin.

I took a 1.6 board I have laying around and decided to do a speed-mod. I paid no attention to quality of solder joints, length of wires, or anything else that a more experienced technician might look at. I did it as quickly and as shoddy as I could, so I could show results similar to what the average Joe may expect. I'm not trying to talk it down. THIS WORKS, and that is what matters and that's what this guide is for. 1. Insert the pinheader. Hold it with one finger against the board and flip it over. Solder 1 pin on the bottom side in place. Make sure your finger is not touching this pin on the other side. Let it cool, and then look to solder the opposite corner (diagonally). Don't let your finger touch that pin this time, and solder it in place. Now you can stop pressing on the opposite side with your finger, and just solder all of the rest of the pins in place. (A MUCH better way than using your finger, is to add a drop of super glue between the plastic holding the pins, and the board. Don't let it touch the metal or it will cook away in a very eye-irritating vapor.) 2. Now we're going to attach the wires to rebuild the lpc. On the top is the guide you should use. On the bottom is the demo job I did, and yours should look similar or better. You'll notice on the bottom picture, the LFrame/D0 wire is soldered to a pad you don't see anywhere else. The guide tells you to solder it to the chip, and the chip has a pad for it. That's not necessary. Just solder it to the pad I show you. That pad is ground, and grounding LFrame/D0 causes the Xbox to boot from LPC instead of the onboard rom. Doing this allows you to take the chip off at will for hotswapping/flashing other chips. (The dark colorations in the bottom pic are not burns. I use rosin-core solder. I usually clean it off to look nicer, but in this case I was trying to demonstrate a real-world normal job someone might do.) 3. Now it's time to get the Aladdin ready to go in. It has features built in for xbox live, which no longer exists for the original Xbox... so we need to defeat those features. Solder the BT pad on the Aladdin to the pad shown. This will enable the chip as soon as power is pressed. 4. Now you're ready to fit your chip and test it out. It mounts on the pinheader like this:

My guess? It's only 100 ohms. The difference is the current would be dead on at 3.9k ohm. It's close enough at 4k ohm to get the job done and they are more commonly found than 3.9k.

Upon further inspection, odds are on one side in the diagram I posted. Evens on the other. The one you posted doesn't do it that way...

I think they just have the connector flipped over when they are counting the pins. That's why I included the one with the diagram. You can't make a mistake. I used it when I tapped into it, so I know it's right.
