  1. Wow sorry for the late reply. Life got the better of me, including selling my place and buying a new one and focusing on a couple of 1.6 boards that I have updated with the Xenium Hub. I still have to get back to trying to resolder those capacitors. I've also been hesitant because I fear my soldering skills are not up to the task. I have a local place that does that kind of work so I might give it to them to try. Is it possible that when I removed the old capacitors I damaged the motherboard so the new ones didn't make contact?
  2. Yeah overall I did a poor job. Redoing it this afternoon and I will report back. I hope I can salvage this board. It's got Cerbios 2.0.2 TSOP flashed on it. I was using it with a 3TB laptop drive
  3. I'm going to desolder and give it another try, with flux this time. I have it but didn't use it.
  4. Yeah sorry the pictures wouldn't upload; they were too big and I had to shrink them down. The three CPU caps I replaced with 3300uf 10v which should be fine.
  5. I have to reduce the file sizes of the images. Will post this morning.
  6. Hi all, I replaced the three CPU capacitors with new replacements and now the Xbox doesn't boot... just a dark screen. I'm going to assume I must have burned the contact points when removing the old caps. Is the motherboard a brick? russlb
  7. I've been posting a few there. I'm able to debug whatever needs to be done! I can post what works first, then what doesn't.
  8. I tried this with Tour De France... Tweaked the default.xbe to be 'region free'. All regions selected. Under NTSC, reboots to XBMC4Gamers. Change to PAL with Enigmah and try again, same result.
  9. I have XBMC4Gamers running on both. The only difference is the softmod vs. the hardmod. Both are setup for NTSC. I haven't tried switching to PAL for those games. I'm also using an XBOX 2 HDMI cable (one cable testing with both xboxes). I'm away from the boxes right now but I will try tonight.
  10. One of the features of the Cerbios bios aside from LBA48 was supposed to be universal region fix so I thought it would work. More background. I formatted a 2TB drive with NTSC and PAL games minus the sports games, e.g. Alien Hominid, Rolling, The Wild Rings with the translation for English. With the 2TB drive in a softmodded 1.6 those games run. I found a 1.4 in my inventory so I TSOP flashed Cerbios latest, then copied the F and G drives of the 2TB to the F drive of a 3TB drive formatted with FatXplorer. All NTSC games run fine, but the aforementioned games reboot to dash. Both consoles checked with Enigmah show NTSC. However I'm able to get a subset list of PAL games to place as noted in the start of the thread. I'm really curious because some of the games I wanted on the 3TB, e.g. MIami Vice... lol!
  11. Hi all, So I've gotten back into the scene taking a break from my RaspberryPi VirtualMan builds to setup some ogXboxes that I had in the garge taking up space. I now have two Xboxes: One with Rocky5's Softmod with a 2TB HD; the other a 1.4 hardmod with Cerbios latest version and a 3TB drive. I noticed that PAL games (Alien Hominid, Panzer Elite Action, Pool:Shark 2) don't run on the hardmod, but do run on the softmod. So how is region free handled on the original modded Xbox, and why would there be a discrepancy? Inquiring minds want to know. I don't mind getting all techie either. RussLB P.S.: Some PAL games DO work, e.g. Metal Slug 4 and 5, Taito Legends 2, Yetisports.
  12. Request: Can someone try Die Hard Vendetta on Cerbios latest and see if that works. It works for me on Rocky5 Softmod but reboots back to XBMC4Gamers on Cerbios. Haven't tried Titan. I'm on a 1.4 xbox.
  13. Well the story ended happy. The motor that spins the disc had failed. Must have been stuck by the disc and then burnt out not being able to spin. I had a dead drive in the garage that I pulled from another xbox. I swapped the motor out and viola... works again. Also took the opportunity to clean out the insides. Thanks for the quick responses!
  14. Could the disc wrattling around in there do that?
