I downloaded a 2 tb game pack, and I think around 5 games were told to be only playable from DVD because of the long filenames, THP8 was among them. Also there was Monster Garage, Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban , Frankie Dettori Racing and I can't remember the others. So probably the HDD itself (or its partition structure) has problem the long filenames and the dvd-drive or the xbox itself doesnt.

I think I have 1.6. Where the aladdin chip goes, there is a gold-ish capacitor with 1F and 1,5 or 2,5v, I assume this is the clock capacitor, also there is no half-round solenoid in the motherboard.

There are cables that soldered to both motherboard and chip, I wouldn't mess with unsoldering these since I have no clue which point has to be resoldered, and I also not good at soldering.

I don't remember if its an old problem or not, but what I did recently is I soldered on the Aladdin xt2 chip the "BT" to be always on, and its working fine I mean I can play games, responsive and everything, but I can't turn it off, and it starts right away as soon as I plug it into the wall. With the EvoX dash I could manually turn it off, but then I could not turn it on. The button is green, so its not the button. And its an Xbox 1.6 so theorietically the clock capacitor couldn't leak out onto the motherboard and corrode a trace. Also, I found no corrosion on traces, but I only checked the upper side of the motherboard, I dont really know whats on the other side. Any idea? I tried with EvoX, but when I press "launch dvd" nothing happens, it remains on the dashboard. But after restarting the console the game loads. So to the dashboard it never goes into, right after the Xbox logo with the "xecuter rox my xbox" title shows up then the disc loads.

I have a Samsung dvd drive, it can read original discs fine, even when in the xbmc dashboard, but burned discs can only be run when I restart the console after I put the disc in. And only DVD-R, the DVD+R doesnt work at all. When I'm in the XBMC and I insert the burned disc it says "invalid path". So seems like the dvd drive is fine, maybe some app messes up something?

yes but the dump was bad, I got black screen at launch, I read on many forums people getting black screen, I tried a couple version and found a working one, so anybody who has black screen just look for a normal version.

No there is no folder like that, also there is no NKpatcher folder anywhere, I also see no "softmod" labeled folders anywhere. Maybe I have a TSOP bridge cable hidden somewhere inside the xbox that I didn't see?

XBMC. And messing with the xbe titles somehow the game turned up (as James Bond: 007 - Everything or Nothing) in the list of xbmc (avalaunch and xbmc4gamers have the xbe title rename option) but in the old name, , so I deleted "E/XBMC/UserData/Database/MyPrograms6.db" and it rebuilt the game list with the proper name.

I was trying to play the games from HDD. I contacted with Rocky5, he recommended the language swap method "Load up MSdash and switch language to any other. Then switch off and on again and go back to ms dash and select original language. Then restart with Forza (or counter strike)." (saw this previously on a forum by 'mnstar'). The problem was when I loaded up the MSdash in the options there was no option to change the language, turned out I had some modded msdash, so Rocky sent me a proper version of the msdash, and I could change the language and as mentioned above it solved my problem. Thanks for everybody who tried to help, and also for Rocky5.

these are xbox games. I know the games are good, one thing I can say difference between the working ones and the one that doesnt run these 2 games is the one that gives me black screen is probably softmodded, while the others are hardmoded. Tried with different dashboards, same black screen (also launching UnleashX also gave me a black screen, I could try it with avalaunch,xbmc,xbmc4gamers,evox.

I have an OG xbox, I opened up but I didn't see any chip or soldered wire, so I assume my xbox is softmoded. Also I played Splinter Cell and I saw an already existing profile called "Linux", and I saw on videos this is how people softmod their console. So I dont know which one do I have currently, but I would like to install Rocky5's softmod, looks way cooler to me. What if I install Rockys softmod while I already have one installed?

Uneless you are a fan of sports games, and you dont really care about emulation I dont see the point of having a 3 tb hdd. Around 950 games released for the xbox (this is the info I found on the internet), and deleting many sports game gives me around 860 game, so I'd say I "own" almost every game under 2 tb. And even for these ~2tb games its a bit annoying that when you boot up the console and goes into the game selection menu it takes ~30 seconds every time to list the games, if you go back to the main menu and to the game menu again it will take again another 30 seconds to list the games. I mean I am using an XMBC, maybe its because of the icons and backgrounds of each game, but I can't imagine how many time would it be to load those 950 games

A friend of mine modded my xbox so I have no clue what he did, but I am now using XMBC by default when I turn on my xbox, I am curious how can I revert it to the unleasx or evox (i dont know which one he installed while modding) ?

it does have, every dump version has, and still can't see it. Maybe it is listed with an other name? There is a game called "Frankie Dettori Racing" but its listed as "Melbourne Cup Challenge", this is why I am thinking about this...

I have the ROM, installed to the HDD, but it's not appearing in my game list, every other game I installed is there and playable, but not this one. I tried multiple versions from the internet, same results. What do I missing? Or its a game that is only playable from the DVD like that couple other?

Hello, sorry for nagging you, but I am really don't know much about the og xbox modding stuff... My problem is, I have 3 og xbox, two of them working great, and 1 can't play two important games, everything else working great. Forza motorsport, and Counter-strike. When I launch them it gives me a black screen on my main xbox, in CS I can hear the background music as well. On my other 2 xboxes they can run these games without a problem. The only differences I can see with my newbie eyes are the "faulty" xbox has XMBC dashboard, while the others have that regular one, unleashx or evox (I can't really tell the differences), but would be the problem only this? I know the 2 working one is hardware modded, at least this is what I requested when I sent it to the service, the other, well, I don't remember seeing a chip inside, maybe tsoped, or softmodded. Oh and the xbox that doesnt run the games is a 1.0 xbox I guess, I mean it has a fan on the gpu, only the 1.0 had it, right? And among the working ones one is 1.6, the other I dont know. So that is all the hints I can give to you, but I am all ears what should I look for to post here, to be able to solve the mysteri. Oh, and I would like to mention a couple things I read about this black screen, one is a problem solve for others, but not for me: "Load up MSdash and switch language to any other. Worked for me first time with HDD and DVD backups" --> I could not step into the original MSdash, tried it switching inside XMBC, didn't work. Oh yea and dont be surprised the weird characters, its a russian site, just use translator Games are working fine (except the typical bad ones like Artic Thunder and Burnout Revenge), and they are in english language, except if you download the japanese pack too.

I downloaded a 2.3 tb hdd ready xbox game pack, deleted the sports games and ended up with around 850 games that almost 2tb Since I dont know most of the games I couldn't choose to be able to fit 1 tb only so I'd suggest the 2 tb option, maybe you can find some hidden gems you never heard of
