  1. Serial number is stored in the EEPROM. The picoprom can read it. Or troubleshoot your network connection in the MS dash and your mobo serial will show up at the top while it is testng the connection.
  2. Is it only certain builds (of the chip) that are experiencing this problem? Because I've gotten all mine to flash except this fourth one.
  3. That's happening to me... Are there any files you can share? I am trying to flash and failing at 52 to 54 percent verification every damn time...
  4. FATXplorer works in ANY instance where the bios detects a device and passes that info to the operating system (windows). The possibilities are myriad.
  5. Sorry to bring this thread back to life, but correct. It's actually the machine's EEPROM. The HDD key, serial number, and online key need to be identical or that profile on the HDD will not show up in the dashboard and will be hidden. This is being addressed by the Insignia team.

..... I would use the intended values.
  7. I wonder why there was a bridge to begin with... Manufacturing defect?
  8. Based on their placement, I would say that those are leads for LAN and HDD activity LEDs, as well as D0. This is exactly the same cable on the X3 that you see the results of on the Control Panel (including D0). I wonder why this bundle is present on the X2.6, though. Never noticed it before. Where would the LED output be? Can anybody help me with this? @HDShadow D0 is still required, although it is referred to as "Lframe" on the 1.6. Little different, but still serves the same function. There is no reason why you can't swap with an OX chip.
  9. I'll have to look into the previous methods to flash the TSOP as I was out of the scene when it was starting to be done I think. Hardmodding is the way!
  10. I view a softmod as having a dash and using the fonts exploit to load a BFM and thus, a dash at boot. This utilizes the savegame exploit to install the softmod. (You know this, I'm just stating) I had forgotten about raincoat. You're saying you TSOP flashed with LINUX back then? That seems so much more complicated than some straightforward XBE. I'm surprised Linux can even find the TSOP, let alone flash it. However, the post by @digiblur confuses me. Were there ways to run Evox flashers (or XBlast) before Destiny's TSOP tool was around? I had never heard of it.
  11. The TSOP flasher is amazing and Sweetdarkdestiny really killed it with that package. I'm glad you succeeded!
  12. @JawannamanAnd that the polarity is correct? Stupid question, but hey, I've done it.
  13. I've done it... but only to transfer small things like bios files, etc... There HAVE to be other uses for it though... aren't there? Coulda sworn...
  14. You're saying that you TSOP flashed without a softmod already before this tool was out? Could you please tell us how?
  15. You're saying that you believe the PCB that splits off the C3CP USB connections has an issue?
  16. Usually, either a dashboard or Bios menu will allow HDD access through FTP. If you have neither right now, then you have no FTP access. You cannot run an installer disc in the current state as there is no BFM to run or hacked bios in the TSOP yet... However, since current files are no concern, then It doesn't matter for the time being. In order to run the TSOP installer, you must use the MS Dasboard. Do you have the stock HDD that came with the console, or any unlocked HDD with the MS dash present? It uses the same exploit that the softmod does and requires the MS dash and one of the exploitable games to run.
  17. It is simpler. However, since your HDD is set up for a softmod, I would back up your data and format C and E. Then use an installer to set the drive up for the hardmod. so You can backup the files now with ftp, do the TSOP flash, and then be sure to have the installer disc ready and boot from it, as you MAY not be able to boot with the softmod structure. I honestly don't know, but I would back up your files before the TSOP flash, just in case!
  18. A tsop flash is a hardmod. You do not want to softmod with this, either before or after. It always causes problems. Pick either a softmod or a TSOP flash. There is no reason to do both. A TSOP flash is a better alternative to the solution that a softmod attempts to address; modding your console. If you are opening your console up and soldering things, it defeats the purpose of what a softmod is for, which is to avoid having to hardmod because you are either unable or hesitant to try to solder. Just use the TSOP flashing kit and drag your Cerbios file to the flash drive, then use the TSOP installer menu to copy that bios over to C:/Bios/. Then flash it using pure Xblast in the TSOP flasher menu. If you are softmodding because you want a dashboard and apps use and installer, such as the OGXbox Installer Disc. Try to flash your TSOP with XBlast. if it cannot address the TSOP for some reason, let us diagnose further.
  19. Why was that ever an issue, anyway? Why were there separate bioses for 1.6 consoles?
  20. Sweet informed me that it is because it is both a retail and debug bios.@SylverReZ I was corrected none too subtly. He was brutally colorful. lol.
  21. I have like, 10 interposers waiting to be used. However, I am almost positive I will fail and I would like to get more practice with BGA work before I attempt it. I was thinking that I could practice with some RROD 360s first... or I could try to use an SL4BS 1GHz CPU and just paste it to the board. It would be SOMETHING.
  22. I have one of these also, and it is VERY handy. I can clone a drive when I need to, which is often., and I can hook up through USB 3.0 and use FATXplorer if I need to modify anything. It's perfect. Not the same unit, but the same basic design.
  23. No, I can't think of a way that would happen. I'm just suggesting that because parts consoles (like a broken DVD drive) are inexpensive and it would give that guy an inexpensive way to try the mod out and make sure it's safe. I would say it's safer because it lowers your temps, as long as you don't fuxor your motherboard while removing the resistors.
  24. But why would cluster size cause crashing like this?
  25. Does anybody know if a T862 is sufficient to pull this off? I really don't want to invest a bunch of money in a huge BGA machine. @Donnie-Burger
