  1. Nice to see that you’re pleased with those fans, since I wasn’t even able to get mine done last weekend being that the third fan hadn’t arrived. I’m really looking forward to getting it all together, but I ran into a problem. The third fan isn’t truly 60mm and was 57.8mm, leaving some bad wiggle room around the enclosure. I have a few more days now to think of a solution. 10 degree drop in temps is insane.
  2. Nothing out of the ordinary in an old console. Dying disc drives and capacitors, dead thermal paste, possible broken traces from busted caps, etc. Depending on your location, you should be able to find one fairly cheap. eBay is loaded with ones that are labeled as broken that are extremely easy fixes. I get stupid deals from there all the time and would be happy to help you find one if needed. Where there’s a will, there’s a way. I know you’ve mentioned a tight budget and I’m already recommending buying other things, but you’ve come this far now so welcome to the modding world lol. You can rearrange the guts of the Xbox fairly easy without breaking the bank. Even cheaper if you happen to have access to a 3d printer. I’m visualizing all the extra space you’d have removing the disc drive, relocating the HDD to the left side and not having the old PSU in the way. This has to be doable in some way.
  3. I'm going to order some from PCBWay since they do have the initial deal of 10 for $5. Shipping originally looked like it was $20, but I can reduce that dramatically without express shipping from China. I only need to very top mask so I'm also going to check into splitting that order into black and white colors. @Bowlsnapper you need just the mask in black correct?
  4. I've made a little progress on this and figured out how to create the Gerber files. One step closer to a solution. @KaosEngineeris going to look into this some more soon and hopefully be able to verify if this is indeed what I need.
  5. Figured I’d reply to myself since I didn’t get one response here. My only assumption is that nobody else had a suggestion. So, I return bearing gifts(sort of). I finally found some decent, silent fans to match my design. I try to keep a steady theme throughout, if I’m going to put my time and money into them. So here are two grey Noctua 80mm fans and a black/bluish purple 60mm fan. I will never buy one of those hideous Noctua fans as I can’t bring myself to putting a two toned brown fan in a gorgeous Skeleton xbox. Links can be provided if there’s interest. Pics can do for now.
  6. Ok what kind of acid do you need and how do we get these done? Lol
  7. I dug my old switch out and noticed the layered panels on this one as well. It does appear that all I'm looking to switch is the top layer or maybe the top two. I only want to change the color to white with black or silver text. If this isn't possible, then I'll consider a different method. Where there's a wil, there's a way. Maybe someone with a little more no-how could use a program to render another top layer for me? I know of the programs, but I'm lost when I open them and attempt to get started.
  8. @Bowlsnapperhas you linked to the goods. If it gets to be too overwhelming(it’s a lot to take in), you can reach out to one of us in DMs or on discord if you have it. I don’t mind walking you through it all. It’s really a simple process after the learning curve.
  9. To be fair, most people probably just try a different PSU these days. This could be a huge factor in why there isn’t much on this topic. If Xboxes were limited, I imagine there would be a lot more info. Unless you’re in a rush to get this done, I’d hang on for a little longer and see if anyone has some advice for you.
  10. Hey guys. I’m hoping to find the gerber for the OG, front mounting bios switches. I have found the chunkier files here on GitHub, but I’m hoping to avoid that and go with the original, thinner version. The goal is to have one made in WHITE for a project I have planned.
  11. It is completely reversible. You can pop in one of the multiple installer discs and they have options to completely remove the soft mod and its files. Installer discs such as Rocky5 Extras disc, OGXBOXInstaller, Hexen, etc.
  12. Hotswap method is not highly recommended. It’s best to go ahead with a softmod and then proceed to FTP the eeprom backup files to your PC in labeled folders to keep track of which Xbox they’re for. The softmod tools will indeed make a backup, but only to a folder within the Xbox. So that’s why you need to move them to a pc. Those eeprom files allow you to either build a new HDD for repair, or recover an old one that may have been messed up by accident. Looks like you e a good plan going so far.
  13. These fit Startech adapters perfectly. I had to lightly file back the area shown in order for the cable to lay properly.
  14. 1. Correct. Get those things out of the 1.0-1.1 and 1.3-1.4 boards ASAP. 2. Just do it beforehand. It’s not like they’re going to blow up the Xbox, but might as well since it’s in the game plan anyway. 3. There’s been some recent changes to how soft mods operate. FTP could be possible, but I’ll let someone else chime in on this one. There are no alterations made to the HDD besides adding a couple of files to support the mod. You can much more easily grab the data off of them after they’re modded. Wether soft or hard mod. 4. Answered in #3 5. If you have SSDs lying around then go for it. I personally wouldn’t recommend going to buy one. This is a huge debate within the community. I’ll let you delve more into that with a YouTube video or something. At the end of the day, XBOX was made in 2001 for IDE drives. They’re just not made to utilize the full capabilities of an SSD. The rest is sort of user preference. Hard mods are all around a better type of mod, but soft mods are excellent for casual users that are only going to play emulators and some Xbox games. Nulling your HDD key is an easy way to not forget your password and give the ability to use that drive in another nulled console with little to no issue. As long as the drive is locked(Soft mods require a lock). If you label the drive for the Xbox it came out of, then there is no real advantage to nulling. It’s also worth noting that nulling the drive can render some existing game saves, useless. That can require another process of resigning your game saves to get them to work again. Edit: I forgot to say DEFINITELY backup those drives. There is a community database with tons of game files for extra content like DLC for maps and other cool stuff. I don’t know where right off hand, but there is a list of things that are still being looked for and you may have some of it.
  15. Yes it has an option to jump to or start on a chosen letter.
  16. Here's a link for American users. https://a.co/d/3XY5Udf
  17. I finally got around to getting this. Superb kit along with the others items purchased from Nems. Haven’t had the time to install everything so I’ve got my weekend plans now lol. I’ve already ordered my two 80mm fans, but can’t for the life of me, find a 60mm quiet fan that is black and worth buying. I just can’t bring myself to install that brown abomination that is the Noctua. Does anyone have the lowdown on another fan option for the rear?
  18. Press start and look in your menus for what is described above.
  19. There used to be a Favorites folder on the dash, but I think it was hidden in one of the recent updates. Could be a good alternative for you.
  20. Check all chips for loose pins or bridged points. It could be as simply as them not being seated properly. I’ve heard Xblast chips can test all at once and other options require doing each chip one at a time. There are a few other threads about the order in which they should be done in.
  21. It’s too late to delete this so I edited. Read it earlier and forgot they’d said caps were fine before I suggested cap failure again.
  22. Congratulations! @Dtomcat18
  23. I was strictly referring to swapping the save files and flashing the TSOP on the fly. No extra tools needed. I’m still legitimately curious as to what @digiblur is talking about. He can’t just leave us hanging like that.
