  1. I just updated Unleash X to V 0.39... my previous version did not support syncing clock through the internet. Under settings time and date I set the SNTP address of my location. Now time is set automatically. I unplug the xbox after use as it could be a fire hazard if left unattended as it is old electronics.
  2. Problem solved! I got help from the support forum on Insignia's discord. The problem was due to the clock time and day being off as I have the clock capacitor removed. Insignia live requires the correct time and day so when the console was unplugged for the night it would not work the following day. So by manually setting the clock Insignia live worked without having to run MS dashboard network connect. Unleash X works just as well as XBMC. I end up going back to Unleash X as that is what I am familiar with. There's more information on setting the configuration for Insignia on the support forum called: Insignia Network | Homebrew Dashboard | DNS troubleshooting (read first post).@Bowlsnapper @NokSueCow
  3. The xbox still resets itself even though it doesn't show in the MS dashboard network settings sometimes the DNS 2 shows 0.0.0.0 even though I put 8.8.8.8. The xbox dvd drive started to work again it only works for cd-r not dvd's. I used AID 4 installer disk which reformatted the C drive and installed XBMC I'll have to see in a day or two again if it resets itself. I unplug my xbox when not using it, maybe the network settings are stored on memory. I have a laptop connected to the wireless bridged router and have DNS 192.168.2.1 which is the main router connected directly to the internet. If I don't have DNS set to 192.168.2.1 my laptop cannot connect to the internet. The laptop and xbox are connected with a ethernet cable to the wireless bridge client router.
  4. I ended up copying the XBMC folder that is used as an app into the C drive then using Rocky5's dashloader from Xbox-Softmodding-Tool pointed the custom dash to the proper .xbe file. The dvd drive no longer works as I would of used the slayer 2.7 installer disc to change the default dashboard. I did however backed everything up using fatxplorer just incase I could not ftp into the xbox. Hopefully I can still ftp and use insignia I will find out in a day or two that is usually when the xbox resets itself.
  5. I did run XBMC as an app and it did not connect to insignia. If I use slayers 2.7 disk and change from Unleash X to XBMC default dashboard will it screw up my lba48 partition table? Will I have to backup C, E and F drives then run slayers 2.7 disk change default dashboard then run xb partitioner if the table cluster size is abnormal then move all the backup files back in place? That is why I am reluctant to try XBMC. Maybe their is a Unleash X file that could be edited.
  6. All I have to do is run the network troubleshooter and it corrects the problem. I never had to switch the DNS settings.
  7. I can only join Insignia online after I run the MS Dashboard network troubleshooter and IGR back to Unleash X and launch a game to play online. My configuration is the same for both MS network and Unleash X network settings. I wish to keep Unleash X if possible and in worst case scenario keep doing what works. I am running another router as a wireless bridge client. What is Auto-Detect under network settings in Unleash X? How can I get Insignia to work without running MS Dashboard network troubleshooter every time? Enable Yes Type Static IP Address 192.168.2.4 Subnet mask 255.255.255.0 Gateway 192.168.2.1 DNS 1 46.101.64.175 DNS 2 8.8.8.8 Auto-Detect Yes
  8. I have a X2 2.6CE it has two 512kb banks. The chip enable should be on then start the xbox original and then flash the bios. The chip led is red when off green when on. The xblast os.xbe version 0.56 is then run from the C drive. It is best if you flash from the hdd so that is where you put the bios.bin in a folder called BIOS that is on the C drive as well. Xblast os and evox should resize automatically to a 512kb from a 256kb but confirm with somebody else before proceeding. You can copy the .bin file using file explorer from the D drive to the C drive folder you created called BIOS.
  9. For sale a Aladdin Xblast 1mb modchip. 512kb bank is flashed with M8+ 1.6 with LBA48 version 3 support Asking $25 CAD Canada Post standard shipping only! included in price. Canada Only! e-transfer only! PM if interested thanks.
  10. I would practice soldering on a dead scrap motherboard for at least 10 hours until you feel comfortable. I would practice tinning wires with rosin flux and keep the solder iron tip tinned. If the tip is not taking solder when hot then it could be black and oxidized then it is not good to use. Make sure you don't leave the iron on any longer then you need to. Add fresh solder once in a while and clean the iron tip, I use steel wool to wipe the old solder and add new solder keeping the iron tip tinned.
  11. Made an observation your Aladdin modchip has a transistor and on another post a member was not able to program the CPLD code to the modchip. Does having a bridged BT connection affect programming? Is it required? Order a modchip from @Bowlsnapper source.
  12. Just got the transistor Aladdin modchip. Both are clones the one on the right is the transistor one. I was hoping for the one on the left.
  13. What about $25 CDN including shipping? Anyone else that sells from Canada for that matter?
  14. Can Aladdin clone modchips be modified to Xblast? I have one.
  15. Want to know where I can source the modchip if I decide to use one? I want to avoid border fees so that is why I want to know if anyone in Canada sells them? Just as a backup plan.
  16. I sent you a PM.
  17. Could not figure out the cause of the disc scratches. I'll end up using the dvd drive for formatting hdd's only with installer discs and leave it at that.
  18. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1B0_VHvgu-ACzN3azkw6Aq4r6GdUQbuLW?usp=drive_link F.JPG is dvd tray lensOperation.avi just under 300mb file. It is a video of lens operation when starting xbox. I removed the dvd drive cover and used top platter piece to keep the discs in place when testing. I played an audio cd and played the cd with random music tracks and noticed no scratches. So it must be the drive not braking when ejecting a disc. I wonder if it could be that the gearing is off by a tooth or two? Is there any other tests I could do?
  19. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1B0_VHvgu-ACzN3azkw6Aq4r6GdUQbuLW?usp=drive_link C.JPG and D.JPG is a game disc that was twice ripped using dvd to xbox application with the damaged dvd drive. E.JPG is a blank dvd-r that has been inserted and ejected 10 times with the dvd drive. Discs are stored in game cases. CD and DVD installers are stored in plastic sleeves. CD installer is still subject to scratches not as many and not as deep as the game disc but the game disc was in the xbox for longer time. The lens itself does not look like it is scuffed up or making contact with the disc. The marks on the disc do look like they are from a sharp metal edge. There is nothing in the tray to cause marks on the disc.
  20. The xbox dvd drive is SDG-605B version B it scratches discs. Refer to discScratches.JPG the scratches are not circular. I am trying to pin point the root cause of the damage. The xbox must of been dropped. The optical pickup head must be causing the scratches but I don't see any raised sharp edges that would cause those marks. The dvd drive reads both cd's and dvd's but they get damaged in the process. The xbox original is TSOP so the only use I have for the drive is formatting the hdd. I thought I would disassemble the dvd drive and compare it to an identical drive. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1B0_VHvgu-ACzN3azkw6Aq4r6GdUQbuLW?usp=drive_link A.JPG is the dvd drive scratching discs B.JPG is a reference drive identical to A.JPG
  21. If you want to start from scratch you'll need the eeprom.bin file if you used rocky5 softmodding tool you'll find the file. E:\Backups\EEPROM\ eeprom.bin file Try to FTP into the xbox. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1GO8e61Urz0Ck8110A5C5X0qxnGpLjTI8 XBHDM Build.zip > copy C folder contents to C drive when rebuilding 2 tb hdd with fatxplorer program then lock the drive with the backupped eeprom.bin file https://fatxplorer.eaton-works.com/3-0-beta/ make sure ide to sata adapter is set to master when replacing it with the xbox original and that you have a 80 wire ide cable connected. If you don't see F and G drive with 900+ gb split evenly you may have to run xbpartitioner v1.3 after launching the xbhdm softmodding tool. You may have to unlock the drive if it is locked with fatxplorer to rebuild the 2 tb drive. I haven't used fatxplorer myself but navigated through the program to see what it was about. Hope someone else can verify if I am correct.
  22. Here is a tutorial https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PlrCXdxmZUY key points in 4:40 - 6:50 listen carefully to the instructions Here's the XBHDM Build.zip folder https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1GO8e61Urz0Ck8110A5C5X0qxnGpLjTI8 mouse over XBHDM Build.zip and click on the down arrow when the mouse turns into a hand icon navigate into the C folder ....\XBHDM Build.zip\XBHDM Build\C copy the contents "inside" the C folder not the "C folder" to the partition 3 in Xplorer360 power off xbox connect dvd drive and hdd and it should boot into XBHDM installer
  23. Done with a hard modded xbox original Here's what I did. I ftp into E:\UDATA\4d530064 and saved only the profile folders. [To keep the game saves] Then in MS Dashboard deleted all the contents. Ran Halo 2 from hdd and made sure there was no updates on the title screen. Made a new profile and ran and saved a campaign game. Rebooted into current dashboard. ftp Halo 2 DLC into games folder. Ran the program. Installed all map packs first then "Launch Installer 2" to install title update 1.5 Rebooted into current dashboard. I placed the saved profile(s) back into E:\UDATA\4d530064 with the new profile. All the map pack data is found in E:\TDATA\4d530064 folder. I played one gaming session that used one of the DLC and it worked. Thanks for the help.
  24. The XBX-Content program calls for a HDkey not a hddkey. I used method B and obtained the key from the txt file. The key was alpha numeric and was not valid. I looked at the eeprom.bin of the original drive and it was the same key but cap locked instead of lower case letters. I ended up using the DLC installer you gave in the link. What is the best procedure for installation. I deleted the existing map packs using microsoft dashboard but kept the user profile. The Halo version was still 1.1 from the previous update. I then used the DLC installer to install the maps. Does order matter?
