  1. Tomorrow I can get pictures of the motherboard and I will check which one is bulging even a little. I will post to keep you updated. Thank you for your time!
  2. I have 2 og xbox 1.6 version. A little while ago I tried mod them and a bad Chinese adaptor for the hdd upgrade got them malfunction. So I ordered some good Panasonic capacitors and the startech adapters. Now that I think of it after the circuit malfunction I got them dedusted and rubbed them with isopropyl and a toothbrush. A fishy smell came out while I did the cleaning which means I have an electronic problem. On the boards I have one busted capacitor and no leak traces. One is hardmoded one is softmoded. How do I check exactly the problem before I try again to upgrade my hdd's? The problem I get from both xbox is the same. Whenever I plugged the hdd molex the xbox would power down instantly. If however I left the molex unplugged they would power up properly with the 07 error though. So any thoughts? I have a way to check the capacitors but I don't know how. The resistance and the power they must emit.
  3. no not yet, cause i dont have an adapter to try it
  4. While i wait for the caps and the adapter to arrive so i can test the theories you helped me with, i think pretty much without an IDE/SATA adapter i wont be able to try anything
  5. it is brand new by amazon estimate, i just got a bad piece i guess, so now i will buy more with better quality this time. Is it possible though to got exact the same issue on both xbox by one bad adapter? what type of capacitor is this next to cpu? probably i can find it on amazon?
  6. both xbox's are 1.6 Europe version. When i connected the adapter and the new HDD it was fine and the xbox powered up just had the 07 error. IF though i plugged the molex on the old HDD the xbox wouldnt power up at all, maybe a small flash on the power ring for less that 1 second and then nothing. Here is a picture of the adapter and both power supplies https://imgur.com/U33Az4f ,https://imgur.com/wto9ELM , https://imgur.com/m1InKD9 , https://imgur.com/3CmT185 . When i tried to hotswap the disks in order to upgrade them, then it was when everything occured, used the same adaptor on both xbox so it might be the adapter that damaged something, tommorow i will post the picture of the motherboards. PS. the comment in the end had me laughting down on knees
  7. the video is well made, as soon as my new adapter arrives i will try it and let you know!
  8. Yep i have the hdd key for my softmode xbox on my pc. I just dont know which program to use to build the replacement hdd and how to do it. The modchip xbox is booting up with the new drive but gives me the 07 error code. A guy in reddit told me that this might mean the hdd getting timed out also, so still i need a new adaptor IDE to SATA, gonna grab 2-3 from startech which seems to be much better than the cheap ones. And i did tried it with the install disk of hextech on this one and got the same error 07 again
  9. Hey guys, i have a problem presented on my xbox consoles and i need your insights, i am gonna put it in numerical order to make it easier to read and understand the situation I have 2 OG Xbox's , 1 hardmoded with aladdin chip and 1 softmoded with rocky's 5. both consoles got shorted and the old hdd they had probably is dead due to faulty ide/sata adapters(the adapter looks crisped) before trying any upgrade on the hdd of both consoles i had backed up with FTP the C,E drives, and ofcourse the eeprom folder from the softmoded one. i have 2 new 1TB drives that i want to insert on this consoles to upgrade their space, (havent got new ide/sata adaptors yet) problem is that i cant seem to power em up now with their original drive no matter what i do, it seems that the moment the molex cable plug in the older hdd the xbox just powering down and wont start again unless i remove the molex cable from the older hdd, that time ofcourse it will power up but with no power i get the 07 error . Both consoles have exact the same problem i read somewhere that this older drives can have a TVS Diode issue if the power inside the console is disrupted. So my questions now is the following, Can i use something on my PC to pass the eeprom from the backup i have on a new HDD and then this HDD will be the main one on my xbox? Also i know that with the hardmoded xbox i have i could just plug in the new HDD and it will promty me to format it and then i could FTP the files from my pc to the xbox and eveything would be ok, but it seems that my hardmoded xbox even with the new disk get the 07 error. so the links from amazon with the compoments i used are this , The IDE cable https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B000TND1VI/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 , The Adapter from IDE to SATA https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mavis-Laven-Interface-Parallel-Converter-default/dp/B07TBDKD2F/ref=sr_1_8?dchild=1&keywords=ide+to+sata&qid=1593092515&sr=8-8, The HDD https://www.amazon.co.uk/Western-Digital-WD10EZEX-7200RPM-INTERNAL/dp/B00DB457IM/ref=sr_1_7?crid=3QLPQSZFKAEQ5&dchild=1&keywords=western+digital+1tb&qid=1593092570&sprefix=western+digital+1tb%2Caps%2C216&sr=8-7, The molex splitter https://www.amazon.co.uk/C2G-Female-Splitter-Extender-Y-Cable-Black/dp/B001U3ZPTC/ref=sr_1_3?crid=1BU875WRPW5O1&dchild=1&keywords=molex+splitter&qid=1593092593&sprefix=molex+sp%2Caps%2C218&sr=8-3 So now i am with 2 xbox that i cannot use, even 1 xbox to use for my games would be perfect until i find a way to fix the 2nd, i am gonna need some help on how to proceed, basically i have backed up on both consoles folders and i need to find a way to use them somehow in order to have a working console, can i use my new HDD and transfer the files inside? or without the working console i am as good as screwed?
