  1. Hi, i found a pal iso and extracted it using xdvdmulleter and ftp'ed it over to the xbox. No issues playing the eastern bay tracks so considering this sorted. no idea why the ntsc version isn't working though. I suppose i could just have found my original copy and played it from the drive, but wheres the fun in that! thanks all!
  2. Hi, thanks for getting back to me. It a strange one, that's what I had presumed and was why i tried a different download. Maybe the recent one I downloaded was also corrupt, both from the same source? On ftp, there was no failed transfers either time? Should I see if I can find another source? Cheers
  3. Hi, was hoping you guys could help. When loading any event on the 'Eastern Bay' tracks in Burnout Revenge, I get a black screen error with text explaining the disc is damaged or dirty. Obviously I'm playing this from the HD, so no optical disc as such, but the error persists. I have tested this on a friends console and also tried downloading another copy of the game and ftping it over to rule out a bad install. No change. Is there some sort of patch for this game, or is it a noted issue? I cant see anything else about it. Both machines were 1.6 boxes with basic Aladdin chips and EvoX M8 bios. I also have here various 1.0, 1.4 and 1.6 xboxes with x3 chips, but i haven't tested this as yet as i don't currently suspect the bios? should i? Hope you can help, Cheers!
  4. Hi, Just ftp'ed over to the box, renamed xbmc4gamers folder and uploaded a new copy. Back to square one, but after some tweaking all is well again! Have no idea what caused that glitch, but sorted now! Thanks all for your advice. Is there anything worth holding onto in the old folder, or just discard?
  5. It's setup as an ntsc machine. Should i just rename the xbmc4gamers folder and upload a new one and be done with it? Is there any button combos to bypass the startup scripts?
  6. I renamed it, it created a new one, asked me to calibrate again, restart and back to being asked to calibrate... strange one! 7. from xbmc.log 12:09:10 M: 36978688 ERROR: Unable to save settings to special://profile/guisettings.xml could this file be corrupt? if i were to rename, would it generate a new one?
  8. Nope, just moved box from one tv to another. Will do this now and have a look. No updates that i was aware of. There was a change of av lead from component to rgb scart, no composite however.
  9. Hi, been using this install for ages with no issues. Today after moving from one tv (on component) to another tv (on RGB, don't know if this is important) xbmc4gamers is asking me to calibrate the screen. I do this, it asks to restart, then when it starts up again it is asking for calibration again, then reset and so on, stuck in a loop. Is there a way to bypass this, or maybe a config file to change or delete that will let me back in again? I notice after calibration finishes and the restart dialogue comes up, there is a notification in the top left that says 'script failed'. Asking here as its likely an easy fix for those with the knowhow! Thanks again folks!
  10. Hi, thanks for the reply. So just continue what im doing then and just remove pin 4 from the header, leave the rest? I take it all the 5v pin does these days on the chip is light the led, hence your bypass mod?
  11. Alright folks, Of the numerous aladdin chips i've installed into 1.6 xboxes, i have installed the pin header with pin 4 removed, rebuilt lpc, connected bt->gnd on chip, cut the lframe trace at the xyclops chip and ignored installing the d0->gnd wire. This has always worked fine for me. Recently i have seen different and conflicting instructions on de-pinning the header. it was suggested to also remove pin 3 (lframe), 6 (5v) and 12 (gnd). I'm wondering what the benefit is and whether i need to start doing it this way? I'm presuming pin 6 has been left out so standby power isn't lighting the led, and pin 3 to disable lframe without cutting the trace? why remove the second gnd (pin 12) though? Just wondering what the consensus was on this, is this a better way to do it, is my usual way now incorrect?? Figured it was time to ask the experts! Cheers
  12. Belled out the switch on both a working chip and the faulty one... both got similar readings. I think the switch is working fine... unfortunately as it would have been an easy fix. its odd that both the main and backup nand are locked out, would suggest the protect circuit to me. But then again, the chip did come to be broken, maybe i was just sold a pup?
  13. No probs, so if i simply remove the switch it should be permanently unprotected?
  14. Hi, the colour changes when i move the internal protect switch and the external one, but i don't think the nand wants to be written to in any state. Is it worth pulling the switch off and just solder bridging the points to keep it permanently unprotected? I got a chance to boot into config live with the good chip, hotswap to the problem one, and try to burn flashbios 303 to the backup rom... same "please remove write protection and flash again" error, that's the same on both the main nand and the backup nand. Safe to say the chip is a goner? I'm not afraid to get the rework station out if something can be replaced/repaired. X3 chips appear to be gold dust these days. Cheers for your ongoing help folks.
  15. Okay i'll give that a try later. Just remove the front panel connection and try an erase. Whats the bare minimum wires i need to connect after a hotswap? just the aux 5v due to the 1.6 board?
  16. Okay, now if i run x3_erase when the working chip is in, it loads, reboots and brings me to the x3 config screen as it should, however if i run it after swapping chips to the problem one, it hangs on loading and wont go any further. So after putting the working chip back in, booting with white button to config and reflashing the bios just to test, no probs. I then hotswapped over to the problem chip and tried to flash a bios. It errors with 'Please remove write protection and try again' on both banks, with the switch both ways and the front panel dips installed and removed. Not really sure where to go with this now. This is as far as i got last time i had a go at this. Any other diagnostic tools or burning apps i should be looking at? Will also look into a donation, thank you! Cheers
  17. yes i can get into x3 config live when i have the working modchip installed, not with the faulty one im trying to sort. should i get into x3 config live, then swap chips and try a flash? will put the orginal hard mod drive back in and copy over a new instance of x3_erase and try that too.
  18. Hi, sorry i wasn't allowed to reply earlier due to being new on the forum. I have tried using the white button to get into boot menu with no avail. Tried using flashbios on both banks with the protect switch in both positions, getting the same unknown flash error. Is there a particular folder x3_erase has to be run from, as its hanging on the loading screen when run after swapping chips. I didnt want to run it to test with the working chip for obvious reasons. i have since put in a spare drive and soft modded the console, thought this might help diagnose the chip as i dont need to keep swapping chips, but im not sure if this will let me access the chip? clutching at straws a bit now? Is there any other chip diagnostic software worth trying? Cheers.
  19. Not write protected on either the chip or the front panel dips. Interestingly one one chip silkscreen it says 'green:protect/red:unprotect' and on the other it says 'red:protect/green:unprotect' must be a mistake printed on the latter. Should i run that prog from unleashx then swap chips, or swap chips first?
  20. Thanks for all the posts folks! I tried the hotswap method using flashbios, came up 'unknown flash! halting' on both 1M banks. Came back to post and seen the response about using the 'x3 erase' tool ... so i gave that a go! I'm not entirely sure how to work it as i can see little mention of instructions in the docs. So far i copied over the 1959v16 bios file to c:\bios\ and the x3 erase tool to c:\bios\x3_erase, booted the xbox with the working chip, swapped to the problem one, and ran the x3 erase tool. The box just hangs on the unleashx 'loading...' screen. Not sure how to proceed now.
  21. Hi, thanks for the reply. I think i tried a hotswap the first time around but i never checked the other banks, its been a wee while! Would you recommend just using the built in flashbios tool from the recovery nand on the working xbox, swap the chip, then try loading the 3294v16 bios onto each of the 1M banks? I'll have a go at this later on and post up my results. Thanks again for your help!
  22. Hey guys, Reaching out as i was hoping you could help. A couple years back i bought another x3 modded xbox and it turned out the chip was faulty. Recently i have decided to revisit this and see if its possible to get this chip working. It is installed in a 1.6 version xbox. So far i have swapped the x3 from another 1.6 box and was able to transfer the fault between machines so i know its the modchip. I am getting the 3.3v and 5v lights on the chip, and the bank switcher lights and button functions are working. I cannot get onto the backup nand either. I have a feeling the previous owner corrupted the main nand as I am unable to flash any bios to the chip. xblastos detects the chip as an xecuter 3 but no other apps can see it. Just wondering what is left to do? is there a utility that defaults the nand or can recover from a suspected bad flash? Out of my depth here now, as i've owned numerous x3 boxes over the years but none have ever given me any hassle. Hope you guys can help. Cheers!
